How to wear a cape:

1.) Be a SUPER hottie!

2.) Put on cape.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 PM) :

She was featured on your site a couple months ago - who is she?!

She manages to make those glasses look nice and not 'hipster' at all...

So happy to see her again! Your picture of her carrying her brown quilted Chanel, wearing an awesome scarf ranks high on my list of your best photos.

Anonymous beautiful nothing said ... (7:37 PM) :

Gray/brown/cream/black/worn denim blue. Beautiful, analogous, muted (but thoughtful) color palette, accentuated by that vivid yellow/white/orange background. The blacks of the scooter's shadow and her bag, the night sky, the bit of text behind her back, and her hair and eyes are also in perfect balance, spatially.

That scooter's cool, but not cooler than those awesome frames -- so strong, and you can tell from her gaze she has the personality and intelligence to back them up. Lovely mood, lovely woman, lovely shot.

Blogger Kristin said ... (7:37 PM) :

Blogger Daniel said ... (7:42 PM) :

Wow! This girl really knows layering:
a denim shirt is something that would usually not work in a similar outfit, here is one of the things that make the look.

Anonymous Glamazonoia said ... (7:57 PM) :

I love the simplicity of this shot. The look on her face. The glasses. Her presence speaks bounds in the silence & serenity captured in this shot. Structured effortless-ness (if that's a word)...one of my favorite things....

Blogger Erin said ... (8:32 PM) :

A beautiful, geek-chic, layered look. I especially love the cardigan wrapped around her neck as a scarf.

This photograph really captures her beauty. She has a very striking visage (which has a pair of chunky frames trying, however futilely, to obscure it).

Blogger Laguna Beach Fogey said ... (8:33 PM) :

How to wear a cape...and sweater, and hair, and hornrimmed specs, and...! Beautiful colour combination here. The Italians, as I always say, almost do English better than the English themselves. Certainly better than the French and Americans.

Back to the photo. I bet she's sitting on a Vespa. She's quite beautiful and has the kind of face I could look at for days. Nice find, Sart.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:35 PM) :

this look is fantastic

Blogger Nedda Ebo said ... (8:41 PM) :

very cute! I loved the last one as well, but I like the pattern of this 'cape' better. x

Anonymous Luis Ugarte said ... (8:41 PM) :

Did you notice that two of the subjects in pictures you posted this week are wearing Tom Ford's TF 5040s?

Blogger Forest City Fashionista said ... (8:49 PM) :

She definitely works the nerdy-chic oversizes specs, and I love the mixture of patterns and textures she's wearing. It's so great to see people wearing capes--I've always thought they were so elegant when worn like these women are wearing them.

Blogger Under Urooba's Umbrella! said ... (8:51 PM) :

Pretty spiffy.

Blogger Haley said ... (8:52 PM) :

absolutely adorable. sherlock holmes would be proud. phenomenal combination of patterns and textures.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 PM) :

Interesting. Is that a cashmere cardigan she's using for an ascot or scarf?

Blogger Abigail James said ... (9:02 PM) :

Scott, I really like how you captured this lady! The light, her posture and expression is great. Props to her for how she put her outfit together. The layers that are shown from looking at her sleeves, the contrast in colour, the her specs and the slightly frayed edge of her gray sweater. Simply delightful!
A mix of Sherlock Holmes and Coco Chanel! Bravo!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:12 PM) :

HER !!! She's the one that made me become a true adept of The Sartorialist ! Her picture with the brown Chanel bag under her arm , the high-waisted (I think it was carrauté ) pants. It was ...love at first sight ! (sartorially , of course !)

Blogger MLN said ... (9:24 PM) :

CARDIGAN AS SCARF! I've been doing this for years, more out of desperation and forgetfulness than anything, but this actually looks really cool.

Blogger abodewell said ... (9:30 PM) :

I love her scarf as well! It almost looks like a soft cardi knotted about her shoulders, lovely.

Blogger Constance said ... (10:58 PM) :

I just love her! Her style is impeccable, and the sweater as a scarf is bold in a very neutral, very functional, highly functioning way. I love that her heathered brown sweater is well loved.Just beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 PM) :

Their is something very smart and functional about this image. I appreciate the conscientious use of layering fabric shades of tan, heather gray and denim coupled with the checkered print of the cape. The spectacles, of course, highlight the brilliance of this woman's outfit.

Blogger Prutha Raithatha said ... (11:08 PM) :

Anonymous KateSouth said ... (12:06 AM) :

Beyond admiring the fantastic cape, I love the whimsy of the cardigan functioning as a scarf, too. Those glasses are classic and perfectly complement her face.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 AM) :

Usually glasses hide your face but you can still see her beauty even with the glasses on

the cape looks like the fabric of my school uniform skirt, which is a rather vile polyester. i like the beige/blue/gray sleeve ends. i'd love to wear those layers to school, but alas, it's not in uniform.

Blogger Julia, the Thanksgiving Girl said ... (2:16 PM) :

Wow. She is truly pro with the layering, the cardigan as a scarf - I haven't tried that one, but I'll maybe try it - and the specs! I love the specs!

I'm tempted to get a cape...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 PM) :

what makes this look is the slight imperfection in the cuff of the jumper (or sweater - we call them jumpers in scotland). The truly stylish don't worry too much about minor imperfections.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:09 PM) :

WHO IS SHE?!?!

Anonymous Zenobiar said ... (4:19 PM) :

I don't think those are TF 5040 frames. The hinge area on the 5040 (where the side piece connects to the frame) has a thin silver design that looks like a "T" lying on its back. There might be a glare problem but I'm seeing plain glossy black with no ornamentation. Much better, cleaner looking.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:52 PM) :

Her layering and her glasses are indeed amazing. Its so nice and interesting to look at her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:02 PM) :

What a beautiful composition!

I can only guess that has been told that she could be Rose Byrne's doppelganger...

Blogger Kathleen said ... (5:12 PM) :

I have to really stretch on this one. I like the mix, but for me, there's a bit too much going on here. Her coloring is so delicate, and although I like the frames, I would have chosen something a bit less obtrusive. Having spent ten years in optics, I guess I look at the glasses first, and if they take my eye completely away from the person who is wearing them, and they become all I see, then I shake my head and say "No, pick another pair my dear". Still, her palette is perfection, love it!

Blogger Masha said ... (5:16 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:37 PM) :

What a gorgeous picture. She's put it all together so well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:13 PM) :

Happy to see this girl again. She had a masterful mix of neutrals and patterns last time. I agree with Grace's comments. I am amazed that her hair and face look almost exactly the same as in the former pic which makes her more real and normal than some of the fashion slaves you photograph. I think those cuffs may be chambray, a softer weave than denim.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:24 PM) :

ah yes, the very specs that i want and have now seen on here two or three times. Tom Ford, he's making a killing in accessories. right, there are two models : sell a few things expensively or many things inexpensively.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:54 PM) :

THIS is how you wear a cape. Fab, fab, fab.

i follow this blog since several months now and have it in my blogroll although it has nothing to do with my work and blog topic, because the pictures and the concept in general protray a wonderful feeling for BEING.

Here there is a special manifestation: one sees or understands clearly, that every piece of clothes and every combination is a sign of the particlar individual.

Wonderful to contemplate PEOPLE and study how the shine, by simply being themselves.

Thank you!
