I must retell this short story. I was in the gym at the University of Maryland when I overheard a classmate recalling his weekend in Manhattan. "It's the best place on earth" he recounted. "The tail- Oh man, it's not like LA girls, man. They're... classy. And smart."
Thank you Sart for capturing these beautiful women that give our city its depth. Thank you women for giving our men something to work for.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:07 PM) :

What a wonderful photograph of a beautiful and stylish woman. She is dressed in separates which has become a standard for me. I believe one can pull off a much richer look if you really know how to put them together. The flash of color, via her scarf, closes the deal. The scarf was a perfect way to bring out her delicate features with the dark hair and very little makeup. She doesn't need makeup, how fantastic is this? As I add to my Spring/Summer wardrobe piece by piece, you never fail to inspire me through these photographs. Thank you Scott!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:15 PM) :

Love the scarf-adds just enough color to the look, but doesn't distract from it. Also the shorter coat sleeves are an interesting switch from a traditional winter coat.

Anonymous J'me elle Austria said ... (3:20 PM) :

I really ought to try cropped sleeves + long gloves.

Thank you Sartorialist for tasteful curation of style inspirations.

What a great scarf! So colourful and fun!

Anonymous Joanna Roman said ... (6:37 AM) :

Oh my God - I love the way She looks!!!
How do I really adore - when classy, beautiful, chic woman looks like a LADY!!!
Sometimes, I do regret that women nowadays (often) forget about that - how adorable was Grace Kelly / Jackie Kennedy-Onassis way of feminine expression.... instead of showing all physical attributes and being focused on how to emphasise them all the time...

Blogger Mina said ... (8:18 AM) :

what a nice look, beautiful.
love the coat/jacket.

Blogger La chica said ... (8:28 AM) :

Love her, elegantísima...

She is gorgeous.

Blogger Maison.Marie said ... (11:36 AM) :

The scarf sums up her classy look! Finito!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 PM) :

It's a nice portrait, but I honestly can't see her outfit, other than the scarf. She's very attractive, but if we're talking fashion here, I need a clearer view. Not saying it's a bad pic, just that I can't see the clothes, accessories, etc.

Blogger Cobalt Violet said ... (2:17 PM) :

She is a class act and lovely lovely lady. The hair, the coat and of course the scarf softens everything and some color and pattern (and movement to the photo!)

Anonymous euna said ... (2:39 PM) :

She looks so elegant and classy. The scarf puts a strong but soft accent onto her outfit, which consists of greys and blacks. Everything is well put together. From head to toe, it is chic!

Blogger Heather Cavanaugh said ... (4:13 PM) :

I loveeeee the jacket!

andrea

Anonymous Roxana said ... (7:35 AM) :

Her main accessories are the the light on her face, the warm look in her eyes and the elegant attitude!

Blogger Miss L. said ... (1:57 PM) :

Beautiful and elegant!!!! I aboslutely dore the scarf!!!

Blogger Miss Cavendish said ... (3:48 PM) :

Every time I see Marina Rust I want to wear her hair: that roller-set-yet-messy bob. But it works on her alone.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 PM) :

So how did she tie the scarf? I tried doing this today with an enormous silk Delvaux scarf, and it just kept slipping out. Either it was tight and too small or big and poofy but constantly slipping apart. Does anybody have a link to a scarf-tying site?

Blogger Manganolia said ... (5:38 PM) :

Love it! Simple, but full of class!

Blogger Mariana said ... (6:43 PM) :

She evokes the essence of Audrey Hepburn. Very few people achieve that. Simply fabulous!
