Blogger MAISON CHAPLIN said ... (1:12 PM) :

Love the fur coat, like always; all the rest is "stylish" but he looks poor

Blogger Beverly Bohan said ... (1:15 PM) :

Interesting ensemble. I wonder if the fur is actually attached to the outer coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:18 PM) :

He's so cool. love this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:19 PM) :

v. cool

Anonymous Ven said ... (1:19 PM) :

So chic! Yet so comfy and relaxed!

Blogger dy of ghost said ... (1:21 PM) :

i like the unexpected layers.

Blogger Café Naïveté said ... (1:21 PM) :

He's way to stand and the look inhis eyes reminds me somehow Bily Elliot.
Quite clever solution: a jacket on a fur coat. It could be really inspiring.. I'd choose a light colored jacket instead.. And I would have more liked to see the fur's neckline peeking out..

Blogger Maddie B. said ... (1:22 PM) :

How often do you see fur not as the focus of outerwear? Very little. I'm intrigued by the layering and the idea of accenting with fur, but I'm not totally comfortable with this look. I can't tell if it's the pants, or maybe the fur is just too much?

Blogger galsandan said ... (1:23 PM) :

This - the fur layer underneath, the white T-shirt, the bare neck, the piercing gaze - is *amazing*. Where you find these people?

Blogger Maïna. said ... (1:24 PM) :

Always this superposition of different coat, it's a very nice idea. Have the fur by but keep it however hidden, great !

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (1:28 PM) :

I like this.

Anonymous mq king said ... (1:32 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:32 PM) :

Nice layering!. Reminds me of the fall 2010 comme des garcons collection.

Blogger Marozia said ... (1:36 PM) :

Blogger ita darling. said ... (1:36 PM) :

the title of this picture made me scared to scroll down.

but i do like whats going on with innovative layering these days..

Anonymous Caroline said ... (1:38 PM) :

usually I think long fur coats on guys looks stupid, but this guy makes it look really cool!

Blogger Polly said ... (1:39 PM) :

raw photograph, he has a serious schoolbuy face yet clothing suggests heightened sophistication.

Blogger Emmanuelle said ... (1:39 PM) :

Wow, this photo is great! Love the colours, the background, the idea of fur underneath the classic black coat and... well I have to admit he's cute :)

Anonymous Emil said ... (1:39 PM) :

Hmm, I've always thought that fur doesn't fit men.

Anonymous Elise said ... (1:46 PM) :

what can I say? you've outdone yourself...

Blogger green lantern said ... (1:47 PM) :

I love the look but do you think it was driven by wanting the fur closest to his skin or fear of PETA people. Either way, this came out looking nonchalant and special!! I very seldom like fur looks but this is nice. Thanks for the pic SART!!

Blogger Frenzy Mind said ... (1:47 PM) :

Layers, layers and layers, I just can't get enough of them and I bet this guy can't either....
Love the photo.

Blogger Daniel said ... (1:48 PM) :

The fur works great with his hair color, but putting over a black coat makes the whole outfit!
Let's grow up later

Blogger MN SL&E said ... (1:51 PM) :

Unbelievable how such a loose fitting tee can be so functional.

Anonymous Lilisfashion said ... (1:52 PM) :

How unusual to style the fur underneath.. It looks really cool though, nice colour :)

Blogger Bridget said ... (1:53 PM) :

Love the simple white tee underneath.

Anonymous stijn van den bulck said ... (1:53 PM) :

his fox-coloured hair matches the fluffy undercoat he's wearing. Amazing lines and shapes, accentuated by the simplenessness of the black-grey-white. <3 love is in the air with this one!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM) :

Very interesting--is the fur a gesture or an addition for warmth? I love the way the fur picks up his coloring, espcially around his face.

Anonymous Dralfonzo said ... (2:08 PM) :

High waist on the trousers looks good in this

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:10 PM) :

while i like the overall effect, if i saw this guy on the street my reaction would be "give me a break." i mean, can he try any harder?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

He looks beautiful until you scroll down to the saggy pants.

Blogger crimzonite said ... (2:15 PM) :

Walking art; I feel like drawing him.

Blogger San said ... (2:16 PM) :

PS: Gave your book to a dear friend of mine today as a birthday gift. She LOVES it. And I do too. Next edition please.

Blogger M said ... (2:21 PM) :

The proportions on this look are very interesting. I love the idea of a long fur vest under a coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:23 PM) :

stunning perfection

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:26 PM) :

You know? This just doesn't work for me. The fur, the smaller coat over it? Just not working. Whaddaya gonna do.

Anonymous fashionsdirtylaundry said ... (2:33 PM) :

Great cropping!!! Spectacular shot. I like how he has is own style without trying to be stylish.

Anonymous Jeremy L said ... (2:33 PM) :

He is doing something no one else is, and that in itself is a sign of brilliance don't you think?

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (2:36 PM) :

a bit confusing

but it made me look

for a long time

that is good

Anonymous Natasha said ... (2:40 PM) :

i saw this young man at a fashion show on saturday evening and remember thinking how wonderful he looked! i think the layering of the coat of the fur is great especially with the simple t shirt and trousers :)

Blogger Ganymede Girl said ... (2:44 PM) :

I love how simple this is, but then the fur really adds a nice touch!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 PM) :

Nothing caught my eye here

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 PM) :

Wonderfull style!

Anonymous Jeremy said ... (2:52 PM) :

layered understated fur. clever!

Blogger Jed said ... (2:53 PM) :

Just looks sloppy to me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:53 PM) :

Adore the jacket

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:55 PM) :

How absolutely fabulous, as only the English can.

Anonymous Hector said ... (2:57 PM) :

Lovely! But I don't like the trousers so high at all.

Would LOVE to...stuck at work though!

Thanks for taking me there!

Blogger Bryony said ... (3:11 PM) :

that's a fashion fierce glare. .this is a great photograph and a great look.

Blogger Kathleen said ... (3:18 PM) :

Another kid with more natural style than most grownups have in their pinky here in the good old USA. He is so tall and slender, could have done something more with the outfit to draw our eyes away from this, but all in all he looks fantastic. He's well on his way to being a fashionista!

Anonymous Sarah said ... (3:20 PM) :

Still wondering what exactly you're pointing at with that title...
But woa, this is gorgeous!

Blogger Athene Greig said ... (3:27 PM) :

Not sure why but I find this creepy

Anonymous Raquel said ... (3:33 PM) :

Cool picture! His style is very "blase"!
Love sartorialist blog! Hope someone of you guys can check my style one day!
Sorry about my english, I live in Boston, but I'm from Brazil:))))

Blogger Prutha said ... (3:34 PM) :

love the concept of 2 long jackets...must try it out!!

Blogger Lynne said ... (3:41 PM) :

what the London kids are wearing now, we'll see on the runways two years hence!such humour around dressing - i love it!

Blogger Alexxander said ... (3:42 PM) :

Anonymous Missy said ... (4:13 PM) :

So subtle and cool

Blogger Jeanne said ... (4:17 PM) :

J'adore la veste en fourrure sous le manteau noir. Contraste interessant, j'aime beaucoup !

Blogger The Shitty Astrologer said ... (4:18 PM) :

Lose the sloppy tee kid and go for a smart black turtleneck instead...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:20 PM) :

I am incredibly taken by this guy! What style! London is truly made up of the most beautiful people!
- Kara, North Carolina

Anonymous Patricia said ... (4:34 PM) :

I'm love with this coat !!

Blogger Mona N. said ... (4:40 PM) :

This is such a beautiful photo. And his layering is so simplistic but amazing!

Blogger Mejambie said ... (4:50 PM) :

love the high wasted pants! Although I'm not a fan of using fur it is a nice touch to this outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:54 PM) :

i love that the outer coat is a zip, not button

also that the trousers sit high on his natural waist, not hang low on his bum like so many young adults' do these days...

Anonymous Teresa said ... (4:56 PM) :

He doesn't look thrilled at all to be photographed, "It's just an ususal day, can I go to work now?". Love the outfit and the realism in his face.

Blogger kukla said ... (5:08 PM) :

I think he did not find his style, yet. The picture really captures this.

Anonymous The Fashionista said ... (5:11 PM) :

I LOVE IT! Great picture!

Blogger Lauren said ... (5:12 PM) :

For some reason his pale skin really compliments the look. Love the loose white shirt as well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:15 PM) :

great layers

Blogger Christina said ... (5:18 PM) :

I don't know how I feel about this...I would probably enjoy it more if he wasn't wearing the black overcoat but just the fur...he's also waif-ishly skinny.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

this is just amazing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

love the layering.

Blogger annaannad said ... (5:21 PM) :

ah man, awesome. LOVE the fur showing underneath the coat, with a zipper!

Blogger Sarah (Buzz) said ... (5:23 PM) :

love the coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

wow great style!!! high waisted pants and a t-shirt with a louse neck

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:32 PM) :

The two trends that both you and Garance have captured lately, fur, and layering (short over long)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 PM) :

A perfect title for that picture :)

Anonymous Helen said ... (5:41 PM) :

fabulous, oh to have been so stylish and cool when I was that young.

Blogger Cristian said ... (5:41 PM) :

I hate furs as a garment. Sorry, doesn´t have any cool for me.

Anonymous Livvey said ... (6:07 PM) :

what a fantastic photo! I love the combination of the two coats.. the fur underneath looks amazing, and the pants. Everything just works together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:18 PM) :

Amazing coat... sweet face.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:31 PM) :

lovely textures...and what a beautiful young man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:34 PM) :

Literally! Aahahahahaha

Blogger The Lovely Bastard said ... (6:34 PM) :

perfect layering.

Blogger CHICMUSE said ... (6:38 PM) :

LOVE IT !!!!

Blogger Benoit said ... (7:07 PM) :

I really have a problem with the fur on men. At least he tried, but he missed, to me.

As usual the picture is still beautiful, it seems you could shoot anyone Scott!

See you

Blogger polka dot said ... (7:50 PM) :

Oh, how funny: this is Ross Aston, a Central St. Martin's student! Just shot him @ a Topshop event, and again @ Somerset House. Wonderful, intelligent, charming guy.

You've got good taste, Mr. Sartorialist. It was good seeing you again: hope you liked London & sorry about the weather.

Blogger the style crusader said ... (7:51 PM) :

this is incredible. i wore the opposite today at somerset house - fur on top black on the bottom. next time i will try it reversed. xx

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:04 PM) :

wow..gorgeous! it's the simple things that are beautiful..

Blogger FishberryJam said ... (8:28 PM) :

the texture of the fur is kind of mesmerizing

it looks like it's a liner to another coat?

Blogger kathrynnova said ... (8:49 PM) :

This. is. fantastic.

Blogger Malicious Mallory said ... (9:05 PM) :

Blogger Jacqueline said ... (9:39 PM) :

Love the face and the layering of the fur peeking out under the jacket. xo

Blogger Tobinik George Gibson Tokaryk said ... (9:44 PM) :

I have always wanted to layer a thin fur under an overcoat, but also a beautifully framed composition. I commend your efforts to make what is usually not recognized - recognized. Thank you for the photos.

Blogger Amelia said ... (10:34 PM) :

I love this. such fantastic styling.
beautiful photo - as always :)

Blogger Tayler said ... (10:37 PM) :

LOVE the fur under the coat. and the patched knee tops it all off

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 PM) :

How can this guy have no comments??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 PM) :

really great style...u always get the best!!

Anonymous Josh said ... (11:22 PM) :

I love this whole short over long thing going on. Garance has made mention to it and I think its a great change/"micro trend"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:33 PM) :

This image "reprents" where Christopher Baily gets his inspiration from from next season.

Hope to see u in Paris!!! I'll be my best for u to take me a picture! hehehehe

Anonymous princess glee said ... (11:41 PM) :

Creative way to wear fur. I like it.

Blogger Baby Hercules said ... (12:18 AM) :

Beautiful. Love this combination of coats, and the rest would look great on it's own. Cool guy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:26 AM) :

THis is incredibly fab i must say. I adore the way he layered the fur coat underneath. NEAT!

Blogger mylene said ... (1:14 AM) :

Love the layers, colors and his pasty white color.

Blogger fledgling said ... (1:32 AM) :

love him!

maxwell conrad

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:37 AM) :

Harry High Pants! This boy needs a feed and a wash. Does nothing for me this look.

Blogger Alisa said ... (1:42 AM) :

Love the top coat.

Say no to fur please!

Blogger sd said ... (1:44 AM) :

i like the levels he creates with his clothes. very visually interesting, and texturally as well, w/the fur.

Blogger Laura Anne said ... (1:58 AM) :

The layers are fantastic. The color of the fur is striking against the dark shades in the overcoat and slacks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:30 AM) :

I really want to like this outfit, but I just can't decide. it has charm, it is a slightly strange combo, but leaves me with the interrogation hanging above my head. But isnt that what true fashion is? I wonder...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:46 AM) :

very interesting layering. love it!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 AM) :

love this guy... but i need to know... what were his shoes like?!?!?

Blogger Smaug said ... (4:23 AM) :

naa.. not this time. Tshirt is slappy and i do not love the different lenghts.

Blogger Diego Rodríguez said ... (4:37 AM) :

the style and image of the crisis...Love it

Blogger Laurence John said ... (4:47 AM) :

that amount of collar bone showing on a young man always makes me nervous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:51 AM) :

he has that something, the thing. beautiful

Anonymous nina said ... (5:14 AM) :

Such a beautiful English face- porcelain and androgynous. Looks like he's been busted stealing his Nans coat! The architecture behind the two London shots makes them look like time travellers- both look like Dickensian urchins .

Blogger Goodle. said ... (5:24 AM) :

Those Londories seem to like the more down to earth fabrics! Nudes andd furs. It's quite interesting :)

Goodle x

Blogger Prince Alban said ... (5:47 AM) :

I love the way he is wearing these clothes...
Very interesting but perhaps I would not have put so large trousers with the coats

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 AM) :

aha, the perennial wafer-thin white t-shirt under the open black jacket in the dead of winter! for how many years have slim, statement-conscious students made this their non-negotiable look, worth risking any number of consequent coughs and sniffles? .....but perhaps in this interpretation the fur will keep the flu at bay...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 AM) :

Hate the "simple white tee underneath." Hate the way it droops.

In spite of the fur he looks cold.

Anonymous Gabriel Antinous said ... (11:32 AM) :

What sheer simplistic elegance! More young males should wear high waisted pants!

Simple white tee with bronze fur and a jet black over coat. Pure genius!

Anonymous l, williams said ... (2:00 PM) :

dear sart, this is one of your best photo's

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 PM) :

not a fan of thin white tees revealing decolletage on men....its always makes them look a little wan and ill (although I THINK this may be the idea...) but he's cute...doesnt need to try so his bag...

Anonymous darlene said ... (3:15 PM) :

I like the golden color of the fur against the dark pants and dark blue of the rest of the coat, but that stretched-out T shirt just looks sloppy.

Blogger coupetete said ... (11:23 PM) :

This seems to me to be a case akin to the Emperor's new clothes, because by all accounts he looks ridiculous. It just is not a good look on any level. Sorry to break the news to everyone.

Blogger mitchjet said ... (10:46 AM) :

i like his outfit, and the way he has made a fur garment more of a minor detail that a garish statement.

i'd prefer it if he wore some jocks so that we couldn't immediately identify his religion.

Blogger Hapsical said ... (2:28 PM) :

How stupid the first comment is.. he "looks poor"? And how obnoxious to put your comment in bold.

That said, I love this's so unexpected, it's just perfect. It really shouldn't work but it totally does.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

This young man is undoubtedly charming, intelligent and kind. I know! Trust me! :) We're all so proud of him being a style icon on your blog sartorialist! You've picked the right guy! His style is inspirational and reflects his character in such truthfulness. You look amazing Ross.
With love,Central Saint Martins,FCP.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 AM) :

so different, he's doin his thing with this ensemble, very inspiring, winter photos in general are favoring layering in a nontraditional the look

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 AM) :

i love the fur coat, and i just think this shows how you dont have to have a ton of designer labels in order to look chic. this would never fly in NY or LA but paris or london its just perfect

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 AM) :

Even though I'm miles away, I can't stop thinking bout u... I don't know what you did 2 me Ross but it worked!

Blogger Bela said ... (9:13 PM) :

Shame on you for promoting the wearing of real fur.

And shame on everyone else for cooing over it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:06 PM) :

a young man who i have had the pleasure to meet and grow fond of, ross is captivating- it's undeniable.
