Stay warm. Stay chic.
heeheehee!
how else would you wear in a blizzard?

looks like a melting ice cream cone hehe..all I have to say is they will probably obtain some wet pants. I like the little gloves very cute and the ginormous scarf..bet that is nice and cozy
She looks warm except for her fingers poking through.
My poor Southern California son is out there in the elements for a Fashion Show he's in tonight & tomorrow.
Hope he looks like this!!LOL!
Always wondered whether or not you post pictures immediately after taking them...now I know you do with some at least.
Head down to Bed-Stuy and get some Snowtorious B.I.G. shots.
Haha, wow! Winter wonderland, to say the least. Great shot.
Geez, it's so bad, you can't even tell where Scott shot this....great job!
Is this our gorgeous Garance Dore???
love it! meanwhile in oz, we are steaming.
As someone who lives in a northern city in Canada, I so appreciate and relate to this photo! Staying warm and fashionable. Much thanks for this post.
Welcome to Manitoba!! (well that's how our winters look like anyways) Hope it doesn't bog down fashion week too much!
I like the big scarf. Props to you, Scott, for photographing in this weather. I'm from Philadelphia and we got dumped on. Hope that everyone's staying warm!
I love snow. People shouldn't be kvetching about it so much. Life should get completely screwed up by the elements now and then.
Great pic.
I love the giant scarf. Seems to somehow balance everything else out. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but the way they wear it...
If this a human being?!
Fabulous, if not practical!
i'll be in ny for the first time time in a few days. this is unfortunate.
um... black. slimming as always...rain or snow... :D
i love this clothes!!!!!!
imobiliarias santa maria
Beautiful image... it has a very austere quality with the snow covered background, but also shrouded in mystery with the scarf covering the face. Superb!
nice outfit combination and great composition as always. i like the all-black look combined with the scarf and the wide-legged pants. she sure knows how to dress!
fashion atelier.
I love the hat! the black and white contrast is perfect.
This is a blizzard? Come to Montreal QC! Nice pic!

Oooooo...too cold but adorable!!

eh~so much in Feb??!!
Hopefully she's warm! I think it's a she...
http://calvinshow.blogspot.com
so cool, I look like that a lot when I take my dog for walks in the snow!
Is that Garance?
salut for being out there! Our fashion house worked from home today...
wowowowow. photographic brilliance!
I can feel the cold!!
Nice scarf.
Yay, you are back in NY, can't wait for more NYC coverage, snow be "darned"!
Finally! A stylish picture which details what we Canadians go through every day!

meatpacking...standard hotel in background
It's been crazier here in DC!
One of the biggest things about this blizzard is that I think I'm stepping on a big pile of snow, little do I know, it's a puddle. Good thing rainboots make me feel invincible!
I'm hoping to go to Bryant Park this week and hopefully get a glimpse of you and garance!! I'd probably make my year!!!
Sart!! You're so dedicated shooting in this snow!!...I actually called out of work today :)
http://thestylerealist.blogspot.com
Great photo ---- she looks a lot like how we're all feeling in the northeast. I, too, always wondered how soon photos were posted after being taken--- now I know! Brrrrrr.
I love the ultra chunky scarf, makes me think of Sandra Backlund (the woman is saintly).
Can't wait to see more stylish people out in the snow: rise to the challenge! One can look good even while shoveling, as happened today on my street.
This is your average look in Minnesota.
She NEEDS boots!
I was out in that blizzard. I love NY, even more when it snows. She or he looks cute peeking through all the knitted layers.
I was in this mess today and wondered how one still looks stylish in this horrible weather!
No thanks......... Thats why I live in California.
wowee what a storm!
Being in California, this is like being on an alien planet ;]
I can relate. Not as cold where we live, but we have seen our share of snow time and again for the past few weeks, actually a month when I stop and think about it. I venture outside to walk the dog, and after a mile or two find myself turning back, too cold to breath or really exercise. Yes, layer upon layer, scarf over scarf, looking for some relief. Fashion kind of stops here, extreme conditions. Maybe a striking winter hat, or a great scarf, but this is about it. I tried to smile at a neighbor while walking today and my face felt as if it would fall off. Oh green and tender spring time, show your head. We are ready!
Real life reflected. A real breath of fresh...snow!
Thankful to be in San Francisco!

This photo gives inspiration to all women in Buffalo, NY.
Heehee! Cute!
Did you have to ask her to stand still or was she just frozen in place?
WELCOME TO MY LIFE.
Dressing for winter in Canada is fun for about a day...
Also, her pants are going to get soaking wet and cold. Needs some Sorel or Kodiak boots.
Love the scarf. But what I want to know is what are YOU wearing in that weather?
BRRRR! Love the photo - glad I am warm indoors right now.
So toasty in NYC~!
www.graceinstitute.org
She(?) is covered head-to-toe and still looks cold! Looks like the kind of weather you can't be prepared for.....
NYC Fashion Week is gonna be a trip, isn't it?
Stay warm!
Stay cool.
(heard you on Elvis Mitchell's radio show today, Sart.)
you should come to Montreal, we know how to dress for the cold cold cold!
hey scott, try changing this frame into B&W. I think it will work better.
on a side note,
i like that her fingers are showing. there's a human in there.
is this garance protecting her hair?
sweet
fab!!!!!
lifeasasketch.wordpress.com
Oh boy she is really fully warped for the winter.
I love the mysterious like outfit that he’s wearing.
With love and the tropical sun from Singapore. I hope it gets better for those who can't do anything in the winter storm.
hahaha love this
don't know what about this image. something moves me. something hidden in the cold, in the blizzards, behind the thick woolen scarf, in the narrow glimpse of his/her eyes... amazing what "fashion" a little eyesight a person can wear; it communicates so much too, when everything else is stripped away.
I cannot believe that you went out and took pictures today! It was painfully cold! and grossly slushy. yuck. Great picture though =)
so realist!!
www.whatdialike.com
garance with straight hair AND flat shoes!!!! well, from what i can see, she still looks very stylish!
Garance protégeant ses nouveaux cheveux ?
I've just read Garance's blog, I'm sure that's her!
Very stylish but definitely needs boots!!
Now that's a good winter picture. Looks like in Warsaw. Check out my Okiem Zuzy blog.
She's gonna get get her hair wet, in that hat...
One word: ABOMINAVEL
Not into the covered up survivor look. :(
Garance says: if you see something pass by under piles of New York snow, a frightening shadow with a hat + big hood + scarf + umbrella blindly following around her man since she can’t see anything with all her armor so that “NOT A DROP OF WATER COMES UNDER MY HAT *%##$@!!!” no need to look any further, yep, it’s me
So is this her?
Oh my God! Freezing in Paris too! We need a big wooly cardigan and scarf. I'm gonna steal my boyfriend's U-NI-TY one cause it's so cold outside, I can't go out without wooly cosy stuff!
Garance, je te reconnais même sous la neige!!
Bisous!
M.
love the scarf, wish it was winter in sydney
amazing photo.
Is this Garance after her Brazilian Blow Out?
She definitely needs a pair of boots and warmer gloves.
Otherwise great look! Love the scarf! :)
Coming from Finland it's nice to see some street shots like this one on your blog.
After BBO Garance? ;-)
is it garance???
ahha so funny ;)
CHARLOTTE&CELINE
Is this Garance's BigFoot trait ? ;-)
Certes méconnaissable mais avec les cheveux raides ! :-)
Jajaja... ande yo caliente, riase la gente.
The great thing about snow is that it makes the issue of matching surrounding colours to apparel much less difficult for the photographer.
The bad thing about snow is that it makes your fingers very cold!
You were very brave to take this pic.
http://davidikus.blogspot.com
yes she needs boots!
great look because necessary for this weather and love the trendy snood!
haha awesome, thats how I look like too lately, at least the wardrobe keeps one warm ...
Some one asked "is this a human beeing" this is how we dress this winter up north in Finland, for 2 months already. Today its only -12 degrees, and the sun is shining an everything is totally white!
Aiiii!!!! What a pity, how do all wonderfully dressed / chic / fashonistas will show their talents& creative attitude in such a weather??? When the primar need is to stay cosy and warm...
and NYC FW will not wait ;)
The photo is much better - that outfit, which is very OK, but nothing more. But the question is: who can beat such a stormy blizzard with his / her wardrobe???
On the Street....Blizzard 2010, New York City or... Garance after having spent 5 hours at the hair salon.
LOL.
The "fashion" is addicted by the winter since nearly 8 weeks here.
The meteorological circumstances really enforce the sartorial creativity of the people.
Great photo which sums up the awful weather. Where is everyone else? Needs better boots for the snow, her trousers will be wet to the knees. A good pair of weelington boots....
Is it Garance covering her hair due to fear of water?
*just curious* :D
Is this Garance? Just read her blog and she's hinting that it might be her, but it's so difficult to see detail on her face........ Great looking blizzard, though!
is this, by any chance, Garance? haha. i just read her blog about the fulfillment of her Dream Hair and she mentioned something about covering up! hahahaha.
Brilliant!
JUST FINISHED READING GARANCE'S POST FOR TODAY AND I GUESS THAT MUST BE HER IN THE PICTURE? :-)
I can feel the cold. She needs a nice pair of wellington boots.
some of life's best moment are in the snow....
The last statement is hilarious!
Great contrast. However, I hope it will be a bit warmer of there soon. :)
Love this photo!!!
This is awesome !!
xx
love it! ... looks someone's protecting her B.B.O hair-treatment! ;-)
www.sylviaetc.blogspot.com
It is so funny!!!..I read this morning all about the BBO at Garance's blog so you really made me laugh when I saw your post..
Regards and sun from Marbella, Spain
waw, i've just read Garance blog and i was suuuuuure that it was her!!! ...
good one anyway
love
Sof
now that looks cold
Mysterious, Chilling, Artistic photographic talent, for sure...I'm in FL; I was told "NYC DIDN'T GET HIT"...What?? It's my daughter!!! Love it!!! (Of course) Thank you Sartiorialist.......
hahaha and yet it would had seemed from her post this morning!!
hmmm ... meat packing? love the fingertips peeping out of her mittens.
fierce
Being originally from Wisconsin, now living in Dallas (where this morning we awoke to a good 3" of wet white stuff everywhere, go figure), I can say that eventually even the most fashion-conscious reach a point of comfort over fashion and say "the hell with the YSL suede heels, where are my my Lands End galoshes?"
Kelliblue
Reminds me of Fargo, North Dakota...my hometown. haha.
www.FashionSnag.com
More snow pictures please! NYers really know how to stay warm with personl style.
Brrrr....
This will definitely be a new breed of Fashion Week!
www.sarabbentley.blogspot.com
Very funny! Come on Scott, we are sure it's her: covering her hair and with her new non heel shoes!!!! Garance c'est toi!
Montse PB
fierce and cozy - gotta love this city.
I must admit that being a New Yorker living in San Francisco,I do miss bundling up against the elements. It gives me a chance to accessorize against Old Man Winter. Other than that, I certainly don't miss that snow!
www.thehypearound.blogspot.com
This is our standard uniform in Montreal from November to April! Am totally smitten with the idea that Sart comes to snow bound cities to share how to look stylish under all the bulk!
Fitted pants/tights are a must, as are boots and the hood must go up over the head in a storm (or snow will collect in the hood)
Love you Sart & Garance!
I am so saddened to hear of Alexander (Lee) McQueen's death...
He truly was a creative genius and with that special gift, so sensitive to life's unexpected events...
I hope & pray that he found his peace with his mom.
That is exactly why I moved to San Diego. I am sure NY is a cool city, epicenter of the universe, yada yada, but being cold and having to go through that? Eh I'll pass.
Great photo btw.
windowshop78.blogspot.com.
Your p.s make me soooo laugh... Thanks, both of you ! Jane
Super style, must be a Heather; who else can look so hot on a freezing day!!! ;)
OMG. I DON´T KNOW WHAT IS WORSE: THERE OR IN RIO NOW 38ºC.
LOL
The woman's hood is not on her head. It must have been full of snow when she got to her destination.
I'm sure it's Garance!!!
Her eyes! ;)
Obviously we have different interpretation of the word "blizzard" haha. That looks like a regular afternoon.
this maybe my favorite ever sartorial photo hehe
Cute as this photo is, I don't believe Garance would wear such a boxy parka and flared trousers... I suppose Climate Change's increasing extreme weather patterns will make it harder and harder to look chic! At least we can afford the clothes to weather the storm... (no pun intended..) Here in New Zealand we just had the worst summer ever on record, no flowery dresses this year :(
LOVE this photo. In the era of i-this, i-that, and me me me - love the between the flakes - behind the wool - thing. I saw her at Jeffrey- she had boots on and warm woolen trousers. Delicious, Scott.
haha what a perfect picture!
This is an intense winter for many of us. I feel sorry for those who can't or won't dress for it. Looking good in weather that requires long johns, Gore-Tex, bulky wool, heavy gloves, and weather-resistant boots/shoes is challenging but do-able.
Call it a blizzard if you want to but I was in the blizzard of '78 in NYC when the snow was over the tops of the cars. This was a snowstorm.
Love the scarf. Anyone know where to get one?
im just glad to see a woman in seasonally-adjusted clothing. someone with normal blood flow.
Fingerless gloves? How brave :D
I applaud her for having some effort and venturing out in the storm, but she could've gone all out.
I love this pic. Mysterious and somehow cute. NY in winter... oh how I miss it.
She looks perfectly protected and warm but her fingers are poking through :) Anyway the photo looks great.
Amazing photo, sure looks like suffering for your art;)
