Scott, you are truly a gifted photographer. This is an amazing shot and should be hanging in a gallery. He is so sexy and so stylish, seems to glide rather than walk. This photograph gives a feeling of Europe many years ago. Your contrasts are incredible. B & W sometimes translates a feeling in a way color cannot touch.

To top it off, he has that noble Italian visage. Cincinnatus in a fine wool coat.

Blogger 82Brute said ... (3:33 PM) :

!!!! I love the use of black and white here. . If not for his clothing, this could be a hundred years ago, and yet even though his clothes are unmistakably modern, they are also anchored in history. His face and his pensive expression are wonderful. How do you do this? Most photographers are happy to get one shot like this in a life time. And yet, every time I pop in here there's another amazing image to feast on. This is so important, what you're doing. You're documenting our times in a way that no one else is. Decades from now sociologists and anthropologists will spend many hours learning from these photos. Don't ever stop.

i never comment but i could not resist here. this is such a striking image. the grace in his stride, his pensive expression, the perfect light of an overcast day, the composition effortlessly guides my eyes around the image. B&W was a fantastic decision.

Anonymous fashionsdirtylaundry said ... (4:45 PM) :

Again, the tonal quality is superb.

I live in NY, and today I realized that I start looking at people on the street as if I were looking at them through one of your photographs. I guess this means that you have a very specific style and way of capturing people...more you're able to capture who people are through their clothing, but the angle/composition/lighting remain quintessentially yours.

I don't know what that means, but I happen to like the phenomenon.

Thank You.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 PM) :

For a black and and white image how strange that in ones minds eye one can see so clearly the colour and drape of the vicuna coat, the sharply creased winter white calvary twill trousers, polished brown beluti crossing the silver tram tracts onto tne cold grey brown cobble stones with the orange tram and the milanese
greybage facade in the back ground.Your's is a true talent to be able to convey all the above from someone whos has not been to Milan in 25 years.

Blogger tempesta said ... (7:26 PM) :

The atmosphere of this photo makes me remember why I love the centre of Milan. That feeling of the old trams, the buildings, elegance, solitude and crossing the street where you should not really be going... All that is just perfectly captured in this beautiful moment.

Anonymous Alexandra V. said ... (7:56 PM) :

This is beautiful! From the composition to the wide range of grays. The rail road tracks and the perspective of the buildings vanishing out of sight comparing to the verticality of the man is just rich. I love photographs like this... combining the raw of the city plus the luxury of the people that live in it. May I add, this man has a great profile too. So happy to see B&W photography.

The gentleman has the most intense facial features I've seen yet. Straight out of the ranks of a Roman Legion of an early century annus domini.

He seems the sort of gentleman you do not want to trifle with yet his elegance broadcasts affability.

This is real class, gentlemen, unlike the pitiable fakery that passes for heroism amongst hipsters, rappers and hip-hoppers.

What a handsome man. This photo is wonderful for many reasons. I love the B&W conversion, the composition (perspective and the subject walking into the frame). Well done.

classic and magical. you really captured an inner pensive moment. The mood of the man and the black and white of the photo and his white pants and shiny black shoes perfectly complement. love the cobblestones and trolley in the background and how he is crossing the trolley track. brilliant!
