Beautiful! One for the favourites, most definitely.

I love his sprezzatura! most definitely better captured with the sobriety/dram of black and white. This reminds me a little of Brassai.

Old style, in a very classic way. He's adorable.
Fantastic shot and even better due to the b&w, love it.

I love the platinum hair against the aged yet dignified face.
Wow this has broken my heart a little, such beautiful sorrow. I am in love.

I think that this is wonderful. I love that you did this in Black and white because you can really focus on some of the linear details. Wonderful work, as usual.

Perfeita! I do think it's one of the most beautiful, if not the most, shot i've seen here. It touches something... Thank you Mr. Schuman.
Fabulous coat and ensemble...sharp dressed man alert!
Great for black & white lovers, seriously sofisticated. Amazing.
Magnifica!!
Stunning photograph, Scott! The contrast of black & white is so dramatic. I really love the way this sophisticated gentleman is walking against the track as opposed to with it. There may not be anything to it...just an interesting little message that I personally found in this image. Thank you for this inspiration!
So poetic - the photo has this glorious sadness but at the same time a kind of integrity or maybe dignity.. Fantastic
Absolutely wonderful! I love this photo
incredible! the textures and scene are amazing!!!
Beautyfull photo and amazing person.
How beautiful this photo is..!!
I love the effect black&white and the effect-old..
Compliments Scott!!
http://alessiastyle.blogspot.com
incredible! the textures and scene composition are amazing!!!
LORENZO RIVA!!! :)
The composition of this shot is brilliant, Scott. The railroad’s lines compliment the movement of the outline of the coat. It’s hypnotic.
Cover of your next book!
Scott, you are truly a gifted photographer. This is an amazing shot and should be hanging in a gallery. He is so sexy and so stylish, seems to glide rather than walk. This photograph gives a feeling of Europe many years ago. Your contrasts are incredible. B & W sometimes translates a feeling in a way color cannot touch.
Your photographs are beautiful but this one is just divine!
yep, confirming.. he's Lorenzo Riva :)
everything about him is so sharp.
he is Renato Balestra a italian stylist
This breathtakingly beautiful photo is like a short story unto itself. Congratulations.
intense - he looks like he's stepped straight out of an i.bergman movie
www.1paulfurlong.blogspot.com
Beautiful picture. You get better and better Sart. I can literally feel the softness and warmth of his coat from your picture. Splendid!
Wow. That profile should be stamped on a coin. Absolutely gorgeous.

http://laneandreverie.blogspot.com/
Quiet simply you have taken it to the next level. Congratulations to the most stylish gentleman and to you for such an outstanding photograph.
Yes!!! This is what photography is all about! GORGEOUS!
Amazing shot Sart.
The only thing that needs to be said.
windowshop78.blogspot.com
Beautiful photograph. The mood is very somber, so the fact that he explodes out of the less focused background with bright white is both contrasting and striking.
the clothes matche the elegant profile....i love this photo!
esme noir.
this is Lorenzo Riva. Designer. Haute couture
this is Lorenzo Riva. Designer. Haute couture
What amazing poise & style. Beautiful picture!
It's all about the textures and contrast in this photo isn't it? The light coat is such a matte and soft texture. I can feel the slipperiness of his black shined shoes! (And the winking streetcar light gives you a bright white.)
V. nice.
HUMAN BEAUTY
Wonderful photo..I like that man
Sartorialist, when you will come in Rome? We are not so fashion as NYC and Milan's people but this city will give you such ideas for great shoots. Trust...
I do indeed hope I look that beautifully weathered and experienced at that age. And I hope to be walking around Milan at that age as well. Bravo age, bravo.
http://olderbrothersadvice.wordpress.com/
Sublime shot, bravissimo!
Elegant and gorgeous!
great shot.
This gentleman is so elegant. He carries himself with an elan that reminds me of a certain type of man: confident, cool, worldly wise. One who is use to style but feels no need to proclaim it.
To top it off, he has that noble Italian visage. Cincinnatus in a fine wool coat.
this is exquisite. thank you for posting such a lovely photograph.
i generally enjoy your work, to be clear. but i love the quality of the black and white here, and the mood of the image is beautiful.
What a fantastic shot! 1,000 words couldn't do it justice. Are prints available? This - and many others - can stand with the best street portraiture photography has to offer.
Stunning photograph. This shot is sheer perfection. Well done!
To boring, tedious noise and ringing
And to the city empty fuss,
Relaxed at heart, now I"m leaving
Into he drizzle, void and dusk.
More photos in B&W please! Very, very nice, this one.
Supreme elegance, class & pure style, simply Amazing
Whoa!! Geezer power strikes again!! This gent is a world class act. The juxt of his age and his getup is shocking yet refreshing. Great photo, love to meet the gent...

Ah, the Italians. The most beautifully dressed men on the planet. The have no equal.
gorgeous shot! my favourite photo of yours from what I've seen so far! keep up the good work!
Que elegante!! esta claro que la edad transmite sosiego, educación, saber estar y clase.
His head resembles the noble profile on an ancient coin. Such contained dignity. A beautiful contrast with the light and free stride of his legs...
what a beautiful moment in time
Sublime.
absolutely breathtaking.
Nicely done.
lorenzo riva !!!!!amazing pic
Wow...a Cartier-Bresson moment.
wow; stunning; like something out of a Godard film or the protagonist in Umberto D. such a hauntingly beautiful image...
sartorialist meets henri cartier-bresson. awesome shot.
Dignified! Noble!
This man glows. Beautiful picture.
Nice photo..one of your best scott. keep up the good work!
WOW. Absolutely gorgeous
the old guitarist walks off of the canvas into modern times. marvelous.
OMG This photo made my day! So inspiring.

Such elegance. His coat is like a regal gown. Beautiful shot.
!!!! I love the use of black and white here. . If not for his clothing, this could be a hundred years ago, and yet even though his clothes are unmistakably modern, they are also anchored in history. His face and his pensive expression are wonderful. How do you do this? Most photographers are happy to get one shot like this in a life time. And yet, every time I pop in here there's another amazing image to feast on. This is so important, what you're doing. You're documenting our times in a way that no one else is. Decades from now sociologists and anthropologists will spend many hours learning from these photos. Don't ever stop.
This is absolutely beautiful... oozes old-fashioned romance...
This is true "Sart - Art"... his regal contemplative face, slicked back hair, with the turtle neck juxtaposed against the nostalgic architecture & trolleys... just slendid!
timeless, elegant, enthralling, classic, beautiful.
i never comment but i could not resist here. this is such a striking image. the grace in his stride, his pensive expression, the perfect light of an overcast day, the composition effortlessly guides my eyes around the image. B&W was a fantastic decision.
much respect sart.

New York , Rio , N.Y. again , London , New York , then Paris , London , Manhatan , Milano ...... ji ji !

Gorgeous photo..

I love this photo and especially since it is in black and white. The lighting on the coat is perfect.
http://thebuzzonfashion.blogspot.com
Again, the tonal quality is superb.
I live in NY, and today I realized that I start looking at people on the street as if I were looking at them through one of your photographs. I guess this means that you have a very specific style and way of capturing people...more you're able to capture who people are through their clothing, but the angle/composition/lighting remain quintessentially yours.
I don't know what that means, but I happen to like the phenomenon.
Thank You.
AMAZING
Getting older? Don't give up. Embrace your knowledge and dress it up!
This man is inspiring the way that your grandmothers chicken soup recipe is better than your friends recipe - it just is.
This photo just stopped me cold. It's strikingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your keen eye with the world.
Breathtaking photo. Absoluely brilliant.
What a class! This man looks like a church man with his turned up collar
damn, this has a georgious face
THIS IS THE COVER OF YOUR NEXT BOOK.
AT 18 I WONDER IF BY 2070 WE WILL ACHIEVE SUCH GRACE AND ELEGANCE.I DOUBT IT BUT AT LEAST WE'LL HAVE YOU TO THANK FOR CAPTURING THESE MOMENTS,FOR THE IPOD GENERATION FOR WE WILL BE LIVING VIRTUAL ELEGANCE.
THANKS FOR THE SHOTS OF OLD MEN THEY DO INSPIRE EVEN AS WE EXPERIMENT WITH
BONDAGE PANTS TEES AND BIKER JACKETS.
For a black and and white image how strange that in ones minds eye one can see so clearly the colour and drape of the vicuna coat, the sharply creased winter white calvary twill trousers, polished brown beluti crossing the silver tram tracts onto tne cold grey brown cobble stones with the orange tram and the milanese
greybage facade in the back ground.Your's is a true talent to be able to convey all the above from someone whos has not been to Milan in 25 years.
The atmosphere of this photo makes me remember why I love the centre of Milan. That feeling of the old trams, the buildings, elegance, solitude and crossing the street where you should not really be going... All that is just perfectly captured in this beautiful moment.
This is beautiful! From the composition to the wide range of grays. The rail road tracks and the perspective of the buildings vanishing out of sight comparing to the verticality of the man is just rich. I love photographs like this... combining the raw of the city plus the luxury of the people that live in it. May I add, this man has a great profile too. So happy to see B&W photography.
This is your all-time best picture. I was blown away. You should start selling prints of your photos. I would love to have a print of this one.
Georgina Estefania
now THAT is fabulous! His face, the scene, his clothes, everything...perfection!
ze BEST!
I really love this photo.
This is a magnificent photo, one of your best!
WOW! Seriously...how pictures speak a thousand words
italian man at his finest.
Great frame!
Perfect.
I love this! So beautiful.
The photo is superb. Good subject, super clothes, right film.
The man, though.. the man: he has lived long and seen a lot.
this photo is ICONIC.
Those shoes... so shiny!
The coat looks crispy and so classic!
Goodle x
you've captured a magical moment. thank you and bravo!
omg!!...thrilling photo. love it!
oh my! this shoot is pure beauty and contrast!! thanks scott. mr. riva makes the most classically romantic wedding dresses in the world.
The gentleman has the most intense facial features I've seen yet. Straight out of the ranks of a Roman Legion of an early century annus domini.
He seems the sort of gentleman you do not want to trifle with yet his elegance broadcasts affability.
This is real class, gentlemen, unlike the pitiable fakery that passes for heroism amongst hipsters, rappers and hip-hoppers.
Pietro
Une photo qui vous laisse sans voix Classe tout simplement!
it looks so much like Lisbon!
very artistic and inspirational! what a perfect combination of black and white. almost looks like a painting!!

What a handsome man. This photo is wonderful for many reasons. I love the B&W conversion, the composition (perspective and the subject walking into the frame). Well done.
classic and magical. you really captured an inner pensive moment. The mood of the man and the black and white of the photo and his white pants and shiny black shoes perfectly complement. love the cobblestones and trolley in the background and how he is crossing the trolley track. brilliant!
