Comments on "Welcome to Pitti Uomo 2010, Florence"
great suit.....love the hint of blue
Incredible layering and mix of patterns. Great color palette...
Indeed. The blue gives it the Sartorial effect.
Very distinguished-looking gentleman. I like the double-breasted suit.
What an outstanding outfit!
winter wins over summer
Il cabalieri... I love him...
XXX...
...that touch of blue breaks the texture pallette created by all those wonderful grays!
So chic!
Emilie
wow, just...What an inspiration!
Great outfit.
He's such a well-dressed man with a great air of male confidence!
Great taste in ensambleing clothes together!
Talk about male layering :P
Lovely outfit that totally transforms a normal man into a gentleman! My boyfriend has a similar suit from U-NI-TY, a French brand. The only thing that is missing is a hat. A man always looks better with a good hat! =)
Gentlemanly.
l'italien dans toute sa splendeur, la classe.

Hi, I am in Florence just for today and wondered if you were still going to do the signing tonight at Luisa Via Roma - would love to come if you are!
The gloves in the pocket of the coat...
Although everything mixes and matches perfectly, the grays in his hair and beard along with the clothes.. I still think this is a bit too much, the look is too textured. Maybe a shorter haircut, maybe the beard needs a trim?
Esteem...
Love that dress! So fitted and so gorgeous!
It's not cool, it's just classy, which in my book is miles better than being "cool". :)
YES!!! A return to form my man.
HE LOOKS GORGEOUS AND GIVES A SENSE OF TASTE AND SELFCONFIDENCE..
I LIKE THE BEARD AND THE BLACK TIE.
VERY NICE!
Classic and yet, he looks incredibly modern. Sometimes people take classic to an extreme where it becomes costume-like. He's just a natural.
He looks exactly like a “Ken”-doll I had as a kid, the same beard and everything. I loved the way that doll looked, and I love the way the real-life version looks.
Ooooh! Very attractive!

Great use of textures and color scheme. He's dressed up yet looks so comfortable and casual at the same time, love that.
What a dashing man!

More gloves in top pockets please.
The lines on the walls, the steps and the check of his suit are all making me dizzy. Talk about structural....
Mountain man in a suit is where it's at.
Looks like the owner of the "Tie your tie" shop in Florence. I saw a couple just like Scott and Garance shopping there yesterday in the afternoon, so maybe they were really Scott and Garance. By the way, Garance's shoes yesterday were really good ;-)
Ahh! one of my favorite men in this blog :)))
I love him
So classic and distinguished! I love it!
WOW! Handsome and the perfect suit!
Kisses
so so fresh!!! i really like it
Classic, just the right amount of sprezzatura!
I love that he looks so dashing, and yet his beard looks like it is growing all willy nilly. His look says Je m'en fiche!
scott, i always enjoy your italy pictures, especially Florence. its my favorite city and the men there are so stylish and handsome. gratzie mille for sharing your travels with the rest of us:)
Valeria
eleganza forever !!
Great Mr.Simon

I agree, the hint of blue is perfect to give this suit an update from the pleated pants and 4-button cross over.... looks great like this.
OMG, he looks like my Swiss shrink!
It's a beautiful suit - but in combination with the overcoat the result is too busy and heavy for my taste.
It might look like it's a lot going on, but one of a kind. Not pretentious at all. Like "I like this, and going to wear it to my liking". Well done.
Cheers,
Joe

Cool. I love this Italian style that you can recognize everywhere you see it. Stylish, distinguish, but less stressed than English people (that I also love).
looks like Italian people would live into fashion.
Very nice pic, by the way.
i love the coat and the 4-buttoned blazer (never really knew how to call these kind of blazers in english).
:)

Tres chic
Rien a dire...
heartbreaker.
Very distinguished...now this his how a man should age!
Have a wonderful day! For me it's about starting fresh..YAY!
What tricky sophistication this is! The similarity between the suit pattern and the overcoat pattern winks at you before rounding the corner and being lost to the difference between their colors and textures. The scarf and tie work cooperate to create a deeper sense of unity in the ensemble, while the blue vest(?) peeks out with a sultry contrast.
All in all, I wish this dapper man were my grandfather and we would go out for breakfast every Thursday morning at the cafe four blocks over.
mhhmmm
I have melted
Very nice!
very classy
Scott,
Super photo. Nice use of depth of field and the horizontal lines on the left and right push the subject right to the front. His outfit is great. As others have already said the hint of blue is perfect. I like the four in hand knot in the tie. It adds a touch of rakishness to the whole look. His pose is spot on.
he looks so handsome... stylish without being trendy.
http://diyainherstilettos.blogspot.com/
i love the co-ordination between the scarf and the tie
but as many people pointed out, i feel like its the hint of blue that pulls it together
without the blue sweater, i feel that the brown scarf, brown tie, and grey suit would look drab--especially the tie and scarf, i feel it would look just too sloppy and it would just make the suit melt in grey and brown
the blue really accentuates everything, but its subtle one hardly notices--on first glance there is something that just looks right.
by the way, i love his coat as well. it kind of blends into the suit, but the texture is a little chunkier giving it some distinction, and it appears to be a warmer smoky grey. brilliant co-ordination. its not kooky, or avante-garde, its just a clean, timeless suit any gentleman should be able to pull together from his closet, and if he cant then his closet is not complete.
superb photography and nice outfit combination. i really like seeing very classy men in classic outfits.

Ahhh yes. Quite the reason I do read the blog, isn't it?
a lot of depth in this outfit...he looks great...

I wish I could see more gentlemen like this. Elegant.
as always great photo. very classy!
I want me a DB!
welcome back to Italy dear!
hope you'll have fun
love,mavi
Incredible Prince of Wales suit, incredible stairs.
Very good idea to put the gloves in the coat pocket.
Atusada Para Nada
Pure "Sherlok Holmes" look. Classic but personal. Love it!
I've always been a fan of your men in Florence. My favorite of all cities that you visit ;-)
Here is pic of Scott signing his book tonight at LUISAVIAROMA: http://shoegazer.onsugar.com/7037368

lekisskiss.blogspot.com <-- 2 girls bloggin fashion from NYC and CHICAGO!
Just perfect... Totally love this!
love simone's style but please take more photos of young guys if you can because a) i can't AFFORD to dress like simone and b) i couldn't pull off this look at my age (25).
There's a lot going on, but I think he keeps it under control and pulls it off ewll.
All I have to say is he needs to sort his beard out! With his face he needs to either do the whole face or none at all! Very hard to make a goatee look good and unfortunately not even this chap can.
i like Pitti baby
So glad to see you back to shooting
"sartorial."
Tie Your Tie. Always classy, Simone!
Dear Scott,
Great to see such a rugged looking man in such a refined suit...
I disagree with Metscan I think to put different elements together shows a fearlessness...
xxoo
Melissa
concur with all the comments in regards to the layering of the patterns in this picture.
drips in confidence as well.

The best picture and best guy to introduce Pitti Uomo this year! Very elegant.
You have sooooo many old, classy European looking dudes on this blog. They're all starting to run together in my mind. I like the hint of blue amidst all that brown. Did he dye his hair brown too? That beard is in no way matching.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Nothing is sexier than a man in a beautiful suit.
"Fashion is fleeting, but style is eternal."
Oh so appropriate here.
so perfectly polished.
Wow, he is handsome. I love his suit and coat. Gorgeous!

I'm italian and this man's style represents everything I don't like of "italian attitude"...The Godfather's stereotype.
Dandy. The beard doesn´t hurt either.
Such a relief to finally see a man in a proper suit. Thank you.
Classic, elegant..This is a very attractive man..
This is STYLE!!! Looks the the cover of a Man Magazine.
Congratulations Again...
Luis. Maybe one day you find guy´s like this in Portugal...
Luis
bloody hell, what an EPIC men's fashion shot. Best beard, ever. xoxo

i love this.
looveeee the suit
I don't think I've seen a double breasted Prince of Wales check suit look that good before.
www.openzedoor.blogspot.com
la fortezza?? che bello
wow. distinguished takes on a whole new meaning.
la bella figura...gotta love italians!
one of your best shots. i love those lines in the background. beautiful suit as well.
I,ve been rocking the DB suit now and then myself for the last couple of years, and this is a nice reminder of why. DBs need a sense of maturity to really pull it off, without looking like fashion. This guy looks so at home in this outfit, you just know he didn't buy it all yesterday. If I saw him in the street I'd wonder what he does dressed so dapper.
this guy's a show stopper. that blue cardigan is a nice accent.
Yay! Simone! The pictures of him in your book are some of my favourites. He always looks fantastic and has a real warmth. The suit is beautiful - love that hint of blue!
This is still a stunning classic!
very casual, yet sophisticated.
http://beauteexterne.blogspot.com/
my impression: too many layers, too much cloth
meraviglioso
I like the mix of fabrics but it appears the whole outfit is outdated
double breasted suit and a double breasted overcoat (i'm assuming that based on the peaked lapels and sheer bulk of it) thats baller! the simplicity of the tie, shirt, sweater, and scarf allow you to fully contemplate the way those plaid checks wrap around his body showing off the tailoring with grid-like precision. but what shoes is he wearing? other photos frequently show him in contrasting kicks, if so i can imagine they would help stabilize the look.
He makes me think of a modern Cavalier--the swept-back coat, the excellent beard, the ready-to-take-on-the-world look in his eye...
Simone - simple masculine chic - along with Luca Rubinacci and Milan Vukmirovic (by the way, when will we see some more of him??) my favorite recurring "model" in your blog... bravo scott!
He manage to pull off a jacket and pants in the same pattern, it´s quite remarkable.
Wonderful.
I wish i could dress like Simone for everyday life(can afford and put it off, and look my best), but I will look OVERDRESSED for my workplace(design firm)...
we here in North America are dressed TOO casual...
This is how a gentleman should be dressed, this is that I intend for elegance! I have been from Tie Your Tie really today !I have spent the whole evening to try me the new suits
thanks still uncle Simone
Matteo
wow!!!
Classic Elegance at its best!
i wonder if he has had that suit since the late 80's
I love that suit! Gorgeous!
Very nice picture, it's time to go to Garance's blog...
Looks very Coooool
are you going to post more photos of pitti uomo? because I only see 3 so far.... please post more :)
"I don't drink beer often, but when I do, I drink dos equis."
sorry guys, couldn't help myself. Excellent suit...That is how a man should carry himself.
perfect... the combination of patterns, the blue...
This guy definitely knows how to rock the DB with style!

wonderful photograph! i love how the background complements the outfit.
Man, this guys always hits it! Love everything here and the blue peeking out is a great touch.
Is this what Brad Pitt is gonna look like in a few years?
Love the pleats! Classic drape
