Although I dont think I will ever embrace the Nordic sweater, I like how he used basics to create a very current outfit, and by the way Filson should take notice of how to photograph their backpack. It looks infinitely better here than in their website. I like that everything is honest, there are no affectations. Jorge from WPB

What i like best about that outfit is not the outfit itself, but the intriguing lovely yellow accessories. The rucksack and the bag are strange enough but somehow effin amazing. Lov'em

Looks great, but I can't know if he wears the labels or if they wear them. To the layman, however, he's doing just fine.

If you're going to carry around everything you own, these are nice bags to do it.

This reminds me of that joke to always carry two bags so you don't have to help someone else with theirs. "Sorry, I'd help but I've got these bags."

Anonymous Alice said ... (10:57 AM) :

Love the bags and the shoes. I am woman but I would go for them as well!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:03 AM) :

He looks like an ad for Filson Bags and Engineered Garments. As someone else suggested, I think this is a case of a look wearing a guy, and not a guy wearing a style and much less having his own. That said I like the bags ( I own a couple of Filson bags myself) and a few of the items he is wearing, just wish he would have put them together in a more idiosyncratic, original, and less obvious way.

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (11:03 AM) :

Wow, I love the whole outfit. He looks like a model. The bags, the shoes, the top layers, and coat. Amazing photo of him. xoxo

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

I don't comment much. But this picture is amazing. The style is exactly what I love. The heritage clothing, Filson etc. is so beautiful. More about utility than fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 AM) :

Oh man, best winter look I've ever seen. I'm def. taking inspiration from this for the rest of the cold months left :/

Anonymous xris said ... (11:15 AM) :

Is this irony? Trying to look like a lumber jack, but hands as soft as a baby's tush? C'mon.

What's up with the "I am a workman" going to fashion shows?

Can we be authentic?

Blogger jackie said ... (12:04 PM) :

I love the Filson bags as much as anyone. The beef I have with them is that they are weighty on their own, that is, empty. Filling them up makes them awkward and too much of a strain on joints...but they are lovely!
The boots rock! Love the rugged masculinity, too. Lets the mind wander into realms of chisled, work hard flesh...

Blogger chiggafied said ... (12:11 PM) :

That's definitely a Filson on his left hand, and those boots uncannily resemble Red Wings.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:16 PM) :

Filson goes Urban !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

Are they Red Wings? The toe looks too round to be red wing. Anyone??

Blogger JouJou Loves You said ... (12:35 PM) :

I didn't even notice what he was wearing. With features like that, he could wear a trash bag and look stunning.

Some people just have 'it'....and he has def. got IT. The hairline, the nose, the lips. Gorgeous.

Filson Rucksack!!!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:41 PM) :

Sorry, but I think he's trying waaay too hard with the current American Heritage craze. Each piece, on its own, is authentic. Put (so labouringly) together turns them most decidedly "in-".

They're Red Wing Boots. Here's a link to them:

http://www.redwingshoes.com/productdetails.aspx?prodid=1044

Really, I can't say this is that amazing. He's just a dude who has money and buys good labels, but there's not unique style. The only mildly interesting thing here is the sweater, but really, any guy with a shaved head and good physique could pull this off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:47 PM) :

Everything is good enough to add pop to outfits, but all of this together at once is a misguided attempt at being on trend.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:49 PM) :

Other than the bags, and perhaps the boots, everything else about this screams of a guy trying too hard. The pants tucked into the boots combined with a parka that only fits because of the mountains of layers under it makes for a very messy look. He looks like a pile of laundry.

Blogger mjd said ... (5:51 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:15 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 AM) :

The Filson looks to new, takes at least 20 years to give them the right finish....

Blogger Geraldine Ryan said ... (5:18 AM) :

I've never seen a Nog sweater worn with such elan. Chanelling Rudolf Nuryev with the cheekbones and the cruel nonchalance.

What's he got in his luggage? More woolly sweaters?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:14 AM) :

I really like this kind of boot. Can anyone tell me if the shoe laces are of any special kind? If there's somewhere I can get hold of durable shoelaces with a color like in some of the Redwing or the Yukatan boots?

Also could anyone give some advice about how to judge leather quality in boots?

Awesome picture anyhow, and interesting discussion in the comments, especially fun to check out the sites of the various makers of the apparel, so it doesn't end with just a nice picture, you stick your nose in things you didn't know you'd find out about :)

Funny - I am sitting here in the cold, snowy midwest (actually its raining right now), hoping to see more lovely photos from Rio or Melbourne, and instead here's a guy in a parka (I have a blue one like that) wearing a pair of boots (Red Wings or Irish Setters) that were made at a factory no more than 50 miles from here, in Red Wing, MN.

Please Sart, may we have more from Rio?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

The goods are probably winter best but the look isnt. Everything seems brand new and he seems to be trying a bit too hard.

The outfit will definitely look 10x better if he had just returned from a week long camp.

Blogger Flores said ... (11:36 PM) :

Ugh. Another overwrought example of the faux Americana working-man style. If you are wealthy enough to sport two Filson bags a Nigel Cabourn sweater and a pair of Red Wings then you aren't fooling anyone. Real American working men shop at Wal-mart (or Target if they get nice bonus). I can't wait for the economy to get better so these fops will go back to dressing in Zegna suits and stop pretending they ever did an honest days work.

Filson has historically been authentic, but don't you worry. Management is in the process of gutting and bleeding the company as we speak. Making the goods in China is so much cheaper and they'll look just as good (in photos).
