beautiful photograph
Love the hat and iPod... pursed lips and real fur make the character.
first!
I <3 Catherine Baba!!! Beautiful. There are not enough photographs taken of her.
how beautiful these combination is. I love her glasses.

Oh la la, Paris mon amour... très chic!

Though I'm not a fan of fur, she is most certainly very chic.
Wow, the whole ensemble just works, it's fantastic. Her hat & shades give it a very Chicage '40 feel
She's a D I V A ! Girl GO!
Scott! What happened to the Anderson & Sheppard suit you had made? I think you should show us!
Stunning!
love the hat.
Stunning!
love the hat.
There certainly appears to be plenty of fur around at the moment! Beautiful mix of textures and colors.
www.beautifulstreets.blogspot.com
great image really like this
staying warm in style for sure
I want to be her.
Two shots of fur practically one after the other? Surely we can't consider fur stylish???
jade bracelet is a surprising touch
I like this. Fun, flirty, new, chic, and, of course some excellent glasses. This shot was captured very nicely. I love all of her eccentric accessories, too. They make me curious about what is in the shopping bag.
Pardon me, 3 fur shots!!
What a goddess. I like the femme fatale-ish pallete,
Catherine Baba is it, right? Wow I adore that woman! The only one I´ve ever wanted to stalk:-) Sounded wrong, but nevertheless is right!
Great Style!!

Fur? Non, merci.
Something about it is devine. It's the whole look. I first thought "WOW!"
Something very Morticia about this
Now THAT is interesting. I love when an ensemble makes you look twice and stare. That is what real fashion is all about. When things are put together that you wouldn't think could go together. Love everything about this. Quirky, chic, elegant, and def. interesting. I wonder what she is listening to?
When I dream, I dream of walking down a Paris street looking as so. So chic, so rich, so glamorous.
She's carrying so much that she looks like a bag lady
....but very fierce one
lol

J'Adore, J'Adore, J'Adore
It's like she came here straight from 80s! Love it!
Let's grow up later
The lips! The hit of scarlet! The jade!
The man behind her!
Everything.
Fantastic.
Oh la la!

epitome of paris
http://stylelord.blogspot.com/
This is the best Startorialist picture that I've seen for a while. This woman has it going on. The bracelets make this look more modern... and her coloring is fabulous.
That's style!!
Absolutely wonderful! The epitome of a woman in fashion.
bunch of racist hippocrats!!! it was NOT okay of Kanye to be featured wearing fur, but ok for this woman to be featured wearing one...even a few bravo comments. my guess is most you bloggers are not true Sartorialists, i think you miss the point of fashion and it's creative expression when you are mere trendies...and most of you backed off only after Scott was in defense of Kanye.
She's a hot mess. not in a good way.
What an amazing look! So chic!
le fantôme de l'opéra...
gorgeous picture
Doesn't this cross the line into costume for anyone else?
Breathtaking! Is that Dita?? She is beautiful, looks like a snapshot from the past but also modern at the same time.. the iPod cord, the Lanvin bag... amazing. I WANT that hat!!
she's so classy and bold. i really like her attitude! and she had that lanvin paper bag in hand too. wow!
vindavindasonata.blogspot.com
While I am not in love with the fur, the disheveled organization within the set of shapes in the composition is striking. The eye travels downward from her face, tracing her arm across into the flurry of bags and bracelets....very cool.
Wow! Talk about a luxe look and fierce attitude. I wonder what on her iPod?
Wonderful
I see so many pictures of her -It's always kimonos, fur and turbans... Don't know what to think of her style. Slightly contrived maybe? Or am I overlooking something?
I LOVE this! She looks inaccessible,complex,self-possessed. She is worthy of being stared at from the interesting mix of elements to her beauty. An inspiration.
catherineeeeee darrrling
i am devotion
Wonderfully done French Chic Retro style in 2010. Originality is the basis of style and is this is an example of that.
I love the guy behind her!
http://thestyleparticle.blogspot.com
I'm reading over the other comments and it confirms what I feel looking at her: vintage-ethereal. Is it 20's? Maybe the silhouette is. 1930's? The hat, but not the glasses -- they seem late 60's or 70's like the belt and the bangles. It's vintage, but you can't pin it down, and doesn't look costume-y or dated. I just love it. This is beyond chic.
I don't know why but I NEED her to be walking a little dog. Maybe a poodle or a chihuahua.
wow. straight off a film noir (?) set. she's gorgeous and the lighting adds to that whole dramatic element. love it.
I love the Lanving bag colour!
http://justanothercoolblog.blogspot.com/
totally felt in love for her. totally!
tnx scott
stupenda
awesome !
ah this fur is bloody gorgeous, its killing me!
Hot!
I love fur on people.
Real fur ... not the fake stuff.
I eat meat! Might as well put their skin to use, too!
This is vraiment chic. Very Parisian. Love it Love it Love it.
Catherine Baba does no wrong, she is always the epitome of Parisian Chic. I'm loving all the fur shots you have been showing lately Scott!
That was FURR-FECT! :D
Great shot Sart
I agree with addysen!!! the best... totally fab.
I have no idea where to begin. In your book I think you have section titled "Visually Greedy" or something to that effect. This images does that for me. I love every element - crazy fur with the belt, the mix of the three bracelets: jade, metal and what looks like horn or bone. The hat with the red glasses. The amazing draping bag and lovely blue shopping bag and a hint of red - all topped off with the white iconic iPod wire. I just cannot get enough of this image.
I know, fur blahblahblah, but that is just beautiful. I also LOVE her jewelry - what bangles! I also love how something about her face looks like she's from the
1930s, but then there's the ipod ear buds. Great mix of classic and modern. The only thing I wouldn't do is carry that color bag with the outfit. Great picture, as always!!
She is exquisite...a Mame Dennis flash forward....
She's BRILLIANT!
love it!
Simply divine. I will dress like a fur queen in my forties, no doubt. It's hard to pull off at 19, but as you get older I think it looks so fun and darling to wear gorgeous furs.
Oh, and the sun glasses COMPLETE this look. What a gem.
wow such a cool outfit!
|| M
One of the many reason that Paris is the epitome of chic...
she looks awesome. What's the thing with parisienne women!? they're all so classy...
And I'll kill to know what's on that Lanvin bag...
wonderful!!
www.whatdialike.com
Wauw!!!
Stuff. Stuff. So much stuff to deal with all at once. She looks a bit annoyed by it all. Or perhaps I'm projecting. I'd have put everything in the Lanvin bag just for the joy of slinging it over my shoulder and walking with my hands free. Is that just me?
more fur, please!
very chic!
The one and only Catherine Baba! She came to our school (SCAD) and was a style mentor for our senior fashion show in May! She's amazing!
Oh I LOVE her! I have just made a post about her style this week go here:
http://istanbulfashionaddict.blogspot.com/2010/01/uber-stil-catherine-baba.html
and...what did she buy from Lanvin?curiosity can kill the cat.lol
istanbul fashion addict
I had a chance to meet Catherine last year. She is such a style diva. Love her.
Bold yet subtle, if thats possible.
Superb! The best of the BEST!
Kisses
The fur keeps flying! She looks fantastic!
Exquisite! I love everything. The colours are incredible. Her fur. The bracelet shapes. That leathery bag that seems to be dripping off her wrist. The Lanvin bag creates a mystery. I adore this photo!!!!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Stunning. I am blown away by her and your new portrait style. What lens are you using now? The 50? or maybe an 85mm?
perhaps before you were trying to show your subject's environment, but your images look better now that you have decided to fill in the frame (or crop them more).
as a side note, i have always loved william klein's fashion and street photography. perhaps you are moving into that direction. only tme will tell.
safe travels.
She is like that other character you showed us from Paris. The thick browed Cali gal that wore the turbans.
Baba has very unique and original style
And she is so much more interesting than a lot of the other woman I've been seeing on this site lately
She looks absolutely fabulous.
Classy
Love the hat and the bracelets. A beautiful photo.
http://timetimetravelers.blogspot.com
i don't really see the '80 here. What do you think? It's more of a '30 feel to me...notice the turban hat and the coat...anyway....immensely beautiful and stylish...o and the purse is great!!!
The perfect Sart photo. Stunning subject, fantastic expression, juxtaposed with chic outfit and somewhat slouchy, old looking purse. Gorgeous shocks of color - the green bracelet, the red lips, glasses and that wonderful magenta pouch (for her i-pod or phone, I assume), the golden handbag and the beautiful blue Lanvin shopping bag. She is perfect, but not to precious...
Stunning, stunning - you never disappoint.
Di from San Francisco
This is one of the most beautiful photographs/ensembles I have ever seen in your pages.
Magnificent.

OMG! OTT! Love it!
She has such an inspirational style!
" Daniel said...
It's like she came here straight from 80s! Love it!"
????????????????????????????
this is in incredible picture, it looks as if it was taken in another era! she is so very glamourous!
I love!!!
copiouscouture.blogspot.com
Was it Vuitton or just Marc Jacobs (as in his own-name collection)that did these kinds of hats a couple of seasons ago? Translates very well into everyday wear without looking costumey. So that's what a Lanvin shopping bag looks like! Oh! God, I need to have more money.

===========================================================
Where is La Baba's bicycle that she is usually seen riding around the Place Vendome in Paris?
Mr. Biddle
Nice picture of a fashion professional. But the Kanye shot has raised the bar for you!
Drop dead stylish Cruella Deville.
GORGEOUS!!
http://agatiszka.blogspot.com/
Jeez...I wish I could wear fur at a YSL show then pop in Lanvin for a quick spree all while wearing my chicest accessories.
http://thefitting.blogspot.com/
WoW! Great style.
love the layers and texturizing of her outfit. I especially like her use of accessories - oh those bangles are great. Are we seeing a fur trend here from the recent shots?
www.jkstylehunter.blogspot.com
Stalk is the right word for the that outfit Vitinen! I think someone beat you to it though
What an incredible picture. Marvellous.
There's something of the Cruella Deville about the pose and headwear but at the same time great outfit. You can tell this is someone who really knows how to dress.

Candid. Her style is great.
http://betweenlovehate.wordpress.com
She's beautiful! Looks like one of the character from Triplets of Belleville.
Ditto Addysen. She's got it goin on
Oh, my! Very old movie in glam - very now in style.
Love the photo and fashion. Hate the American Apparel "Lace" ad strobing in the upper left.
Tacky.
La Baba,
La Divina...
Pursed lips; downcast, shaded eyes. In a word, Patrician.
Snazzy photo. Clearly the anti-fur patrol is taking a well deserved day off.
the fur is so beautiful (hope its fake though) and I love her bracelets. I'm also jealous she's carrying a Lanvin bag. I wish I could shop there.
http://thebuzzonfashion.blogspot.com
Pangur, pageviews are stylish, and posting images of something that's controversial = more money for The Sartorialist, which is always in fashion.
nice blog.
I'm visiting here.
visit me back thanks
Fabolous. Just fabulous.
http://sarahbrown88.blogspot.com/
she's my idol
A little bit too 'Norma Desmond' for my taste

lacysmess.blogspot.com
Yes, channeling Cruella Deville is oh so chic.
shame about all the cables.
love the accent colours
Love her bag and glasses, so pretty :)
I just love how she looks so old-fashioned Hollywood glamorous and then out peeks the white ipod headphones and the bright turquoise Lanvin shopping bag. Great shot.
http://watermelonfeet.blogspot.comc
NOW THIS IS PARISIAN CHIC!!! I'm in love. I have no words. Please take more photographs of this woman. Why we have not seen her on you pages before is a travesty.
I am the fly.
Let's be honest. That's not a hat, it's a turban. And she? Is pulling it off. Awesome.
J'adore Darliiiiing, J'adore!!!
Catherine's so fit for Lanvin
I love her in the vintage vibe.
hopefully she bought a new handbag at Lanvin, right? That one she is carrying looks dead.
Love the jewelry. Her look is interesting to say the least - not sure about the filthy sack she's got on her arm. blechhh.
very nice!
Catherine Baba i presume!
i'm gonna somehow steal this outfit (when it's Winter again in Aus) and recreate it....actually more like steal the look. But i'd probably wear faux fur not the real deal.
Glamourous! Like an elegant fashion byrd. I love this picture.
how FABULOUS!
her hat/sunglasses/lips
are MAGNIFICENT
YUMMM
love her glass! The blue Lavin bag is quite a fit!

Beautiful pic! she has a really personal style!! :)
I love this look. Its so high fashion!
http://myobscuretaste.blogspot.com/
the tangled-up wires actually add to her complexity
She clearly shops at Lanvin; and looks good doing it. =)
she wears that jade cuff a lot - must be a signature piece.
makes me really sad when I see such s beautiful lady in real fur.....when I believe everyone should know better..
amazing!
XOXO
http://loresfashion.blogspot.com
Wow! What an elegant women!
www.abitoffahion.com
Very chic - what you'd expect in Paris. The French have that certain something when it comes to style - something you can't just put on. It's in their blood. However, as beautiful as it looks, it is a shame that real fur still features so prominently in fashion.
her hat is incredible, and all that bangles she manage to carry off without looking like a accessories worker.
C'est super!! Le style est magnifique!!!
very nice!!!
www.thetragicallychic.blogspot.com
Uau!!! Bjs
Wow - she seems to have all the world draped over her arms.
Contented luxury...

Oh! I'm inlove!!!
The hat, evreything is perfect!!! Good job!!!! //Johanna, from sweden.
http://johannaurban.blogspot.com
So stylish! She would have been an easy one to photograph
mr. schuman,
i'm a little surprised you didn't photograph her on a bike! when i saw her at dior's fall show she arrived on a vintage bicycle wearing the most insane heels! she definitely knows how to make an entrance...nevertheless, what a great shot.
Oh god, it's the cigarette bleating all over again, except this time it's about fur. Tedious.
I think this woman looks not only interesting, but rather fab - her jade bangle and blue carry bag are lovely accents.
Cruella DeVille - not my cup of tea at all. Gush away, people...
she looks incredible. strong character and personality coming out in spade in her look. love it.
Smug MonaLisa-esque smile...faboosh!
She's all the elegant Parisians that came before her: Josephine Baker, Juliette Greco, Simone de Beauvoir, Loulou de la Falaise, Coco Chanel, even Edith Piaf...
Love this! AMAZE!!
http://jdebaer.blogspot.com/
I adore this photo---thank you so much for posting it! Catherine Baba is my new official style icon. I adore her use of red here, as well as the fantastic textural contrast of the sleek belt against the rich fur...and the hat---so perfect. As far as photographs go, this is my favorite of yours by far.
gothic chic.
catherine baba is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l.
I love catherine baba's eclectic style!

FREAKIN. LOVIN IT.

CHICMUSE
The hat and the bangles are divine.
very chic! ♥!
I love her ! I'm so jealous !
Her look is a bit comical. A bit 'tortoise on purpose'. I think the turban injects that note of irony.
I like the shape of the blurred figure over her right shoulder. But of course she's interesting too!
WOW!!!
Iconic unto herself
I'm only commenting on the Jade bracelet. Great for every girl!
The fur.... that's all different story.
