I like this. Fun, flirty, new, chic, and, of course some excellent glasses. This shot was captured very nicely. I love all of her eccentric accessories, too. They make me curious about what is in the shopping bag.

Love everything about this. Quirky, chic, elegant, and def. interesting. I wonder what she is listening to?

This is the best Startorialist picture that I've seen for a while. This woman has it going on. The bracelets make this look more modern... and her coloring is fabulous.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:58 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

bunch of racist hippocrats!!! it was NOT okay of Kanye to be featured wearing fur, but ok for this woman to be featured wearing one...even a few bravo comments. my guess is most you bloggers are not true Sartorialists, i think you miss the point of fashion and it's creative expression when you are mere trendies...and most of you backed off only after Scott was in defense of Kanye.

Blogger Charles said ... (12:18 PM) :

While I am not in love with the fur, the disheveled organization within the set of shapes in the composition is striking. The eye travels downward from her face, tracing her arm across into the flurry of bags and bracelets....very cool.

Anonymous BuckleButtonZip said ... (12:26 PM) :

Wow! Talk about a luxe look and fierce attitude. I wonder what on her iPod?

Blogger SabinePsynopsis said ... (12:46 PM) :

I see so many pictures of her -It's always kimonos, fur and turbans... Don't know what to think of her style. Slightly contrived maybe? Or am I overlooking something?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

I LOVE this! She looks inaccessible,complex,self-possessed. She is worthy of being stared at from the interesting mix of elements to her beauty. An inspiration.

Wonderfully done French Chic Retro style in 2010. Originality is the basis of style and is this is an example of that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 PM) :

I love the guy behind her!

http://thestyleparticle.blogspot.com

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 PM) :

I'm reading over the other comments and it confirms what I feel looking at her: vintage-ethereal. Is it 20's? Maybe the silhouette is. 1930's? The hat, but not the glasses -- they seem late 60's or 70's like the belt and the bangles. It's vintage, but you can't pin it down, and doesn't look costume-y or dated. I just love it. This is beyond chic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 PM) :

I don't know why but I NEED her to be walking a little dog. Maybe a poodle or a chihuahua.

Anonymous Qui said ... (1:02 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 PM) :

I agree with addysen!!! the best... totally fab.

Blogger Tereneh Idia said ... (1:32 PM) :

I have no idea where to begin. In your book I think you have section titled "Visually Greedy" or something to that effect. This images does that for me. I love every element - crazy fur with the belt, the mix of the three bracelets: jade, metal and what looks like horn or bone. The hat with the red glasses. The amazing draping bag and lovely blue shopping bag and a hint of red - all topped off with the white iconic iPod wire. I just cannot get enough of this image.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:33 PM) :

I know, fur blahblahblah, but that is just beautiful. I also LOVE her jewelry - what bangles! I also love how something about her face looks like she's from the
1930s, but then there's the ipod ear buds. Great mix of classic and modern. The only thing I wouldn't do is carry that color bag with the outfit. Great picture, as always!!

Anonymous ModFruGal said ... (1:34 PM) :

Simply divine. I will dress like a fur queen in my forties, no doubt. It's hard to pull off at 19, but as you get older I think it looks so fun and darling to wear gorgeous furs.

Oh, and the sun glasses COMPLETE this look. What a gem.

Stuff. Stuff. So much stuff to deal with all at once. She looks a bit annoyed by it all. Or perhaps I'm projecting. I'd have put everything in the Lanvin bag just for the joy of slinging it over my shoulder and walking with my hands free. Is that just me?

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:04 PM) :

more fur, please!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:00 PM) :

perhaps before you were trying to show your subject's environment, but your images look better now that you have decided to fill in the frame (or crop them more).

as a side note, i have always loved william klein's fashion and street photography. perhaps you are moving into that direction. only tme will tell.

safe travels.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:03 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:22 PM) :

The perfect Sart photo. Stunning subject, fantastic expression, juxtaposed with chic outfit and somewhat slouchy, old looking purse. Gorgeous shocks of color - the green bracelet, the red lips, glasses and that wonderful magenta pouch (for her i-pod or phone, I assume), the golden handbag and the beautiful blue Lanvin shopping bag. She is perfect, but not to precious...

Stunning, stunning - you never disappoint.

Was it Vuitton or just Marc Jacobs (as in his own-name collection)that did these kinds of hats a couple of seasons ago? Translates very well into everyday wear without looking costumey. So that's what a Lanvin shopping bag looks like! Oh! God, I need to have more money.

Very chic - what you'd expect in Paris. The French have that certain something when it comes to style - something you can't just put on. It's in their blood. However, as beautiful as it looks, it is a shame that real fur still features so prominently in fashion.

So stylish! She would have been an easy one to photograph

mr. schuman,

i'm a little surprised you didn't photograph her on a bike! when i saw her at dior's fall show she arrived on a vintage bicycle wearing the most insane heels! she definitely knows how to make an entrance...nevertheless, what a great shot.

Oh god, it's the cigarette bleating all over again, except this time it's about fur. Tedious.

I think this woman looks not only interesting, but rather fab - her jade bangle and blue carry bag are lovely accents.

Smug MonaLisa-esque smile...faboosh!

She's all the elegant Parisians that came before her: Josephine Baker, Juliette Greco, Simone de Beauvoir, Loulou de la Falaise, Coco Chanel, even Edith Piaf...

I adore this photo---thank you so much for posting it! Catherine Baba is my new official style icon. I adore her use of red here, as well as the fantastic textural contrast of the sleek belt against the rich fur...and the hat---so perfect. As far as photographs go, this is my favorite of yours by far.

I love her ! I'm so jealous !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:12 PM) :

Her look is a bit comical. A bit 'tortoise on purpose'. I think the turban injects that note of irony.

Blogger D.R. said ... (7:54 PM) :

I like the shape of the blurred figure over her right shoulder. But of course she's interesting too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:02 PM) :

WOW!!!

Blogger fig said ... (11:20 PM) :

Iconic unto herself

I'm only commenting on the Jade bracelet. Great for every girl!

The fur.... that's all different story.
