Rocking the simplicity.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:00 AM) :

I don't know. He always looks the same: same silhouette, same sleeves; I bet his pants were a little short at the ankle and he wasn't wearing socks. It looks good, but a bit unvarying. Maybe it's just a case of him knowing what suits him (which it clearly does) and sticking with it.

Blogger Penny said ... (1:04 AM) :

Yeuch cigarette. Everything else is great!!

Anonymous Lisette said ... (3:12 AM) :

Cool look! Amazing how a flat-weave can change the look of a polo shirt so much - love it. I also like the detail of the turned out waistband, although it doesn't help the 'hang' of the trousers. Great shades too.

Anonymous Amélie said ... (3:15 AM) :

His stature is so impressive, I love how the shirt and pants both fit him snugly but very well.

Happy Holidays!

Blogger CW said ... (9:44 AM) :

It looks like he folded over the waistband of his pants. One can tell by looking at his left side (right side of photo).

The look is very put together with the exception of the cancerstick. Moreover, it is a look that can be duplicated at comparatively little expense with knock-offs from any number of outlets.

it's really about his enormous sex appeal much more than fashion. do you remember when you once posted the photo of a shirtless man and there was a rather heated discussion of whether beauty should be the focus of your blog or just fashion??
well, you have shown us mr. cortina wearing just a t-shirt. and while undoubtedly we could wax academic about the fact that he knows how to wear one artfully, i strongly doubt that that is what keeps drawing us (and you) to pictures of him...

Five years since I,ve touched a cigarette, and I still smoke in my dreams on occasion. I'll dream about it tonight, oh dear. I hate to admit a cigarette can set of a look. When is the Sartorialist going to visit sunny Scotland. You definitely will not being having breakfast al fresco here in December. Happy Holidays.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (11:48 AM) :

Have always loved folded-over waistbands. If you get them to lie right, it's like instant custom tailoring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

The cigarette bashing appears to be a case of herd dishonesty.

I wonder if they watch Cary Grant or Paul Newman movies and say "Yeuch! He's smoking!"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

This man's confident casual look and muscular presence are reminiscent of the well-toned, much younger -- and much less abused -- Mickey Rourke (circa his 1986 "9 & 1/2 Weeks" film).

I agree. Mr. Cortina always looks the same. It's a sexy look, no doubt, and when I first saw his photo, I fell in love :-) , but now I am hoping for more creativity and imagination.

Gin-Jar said:

You are entitled to your opinion, but in my view, a cigarette adds as much class to a look as a crack pipe.

Anonymous PLO said ... (1:01 PM) :

I think there should be a page devoted to just Mr. Cortina...

He's pure timeless, relaxed elegance and refinement: He could easily be transplanted to the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and never look out of place. I'm sure that there are people that would find that boring because they need the latest look, but with Mr. Cortina, I'm impressed by the person, the man-- not the fashion.

"To everyone who thinks the cigarette is "garbage": This is Paris, everyone smokes. Plus, i think the cigarette contributes greatly to this classy look."

Cigarette smoking is both obnoxious and unhealthy. If you find it to be somehow "chic," either in Paris or Demoines, you're clearly a fashion victim. There was a time when "everyone" killed Jews. When "everyone" owned slaves. When "everyone" repressed women. Paris will be "chic" again when its arrogance is finally updated.

please, enough with the cigarette theme! i think the fashion victims, as you say, are those who smoked when it was socially cool and approved, and now that the midia, mkt and so on tell you that smoking is horrible, your goal is to annoy the peolple who still enjoy a good old cigg.

let people do whatever they feel like doing, to be themselves..don´t just repeat whatever is trendy at the moment...and please, don´t compare smoking with slavery, jew´s murther and so on..it´s just ignorance.

p.s. mr cortina is a very sexy man, with or without the cigarette. he has personality!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:24 PM) :

Oh George, George. You never fail, never. I agree that his silhouette is often similar, but I think he does manouvre around his basic silhouette a little bit. Plus, his use of fabric and colour is never the same. In essence, then, this is what we should all do: take what you know looks good on you, and twist it around a few times, but sticking to the base that always works! Genius, really.

Instead of this charade of why smoking kills the vibe or not, lets try and track down who's that shirt by!!

I always like to scan these comment sections for tips and hints to the quality designers being showcased in these photos... and instead its a waste of space to squabble otherwise about a petty nuance.

i think that for men a great pair of sinewy arms is the equivalent of a woman having fabulous legs. just the best accessory there is. hes aware of this hence the rolled sleeves and watch/ bracelets which set 'em off just right

I'm wondering about the weather. Short sleeves in December in Paris?Or this picture is not taken recently? I'm readig the blog from north of Europe and I'm always paying attention to the weather on the pictures as here it always seems to be crappier weather than somewhere else =)

So Cortina! 2 colors, minimal/casual/chic clothes and sunglasses. He's actually one of the best-dressed men around the fashion shows. Perfect!

I personally think it's his inner sexiness and confidence that make the look, not really the outfit. Like, if you put another man in those shirt and pants it wouldn't make the same impression at all. He, however, looks stunning.

Anonymous darlene said ... (3:22 PM) :

That's a beautiful shade of blue--great with the olive green pants. I hope we'll be seeing more of it in the stores the coming year?

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:55 PM) :

what type of sunglasses are those ? i now know what i want for christmas

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 PM) :

i want to tell you that i find you blog to be very refreshing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:11 PM) :

When I look at this man, I absolutely do not see a smoker, I see a man smoking... Not the other way around... Totally adds to him and his persona... Dude is classic and timeless, not to mention completely handsome!

Anonymous groovergreen said ... (8:53 PM) :

Tres ordinaire, and yuck, what's with the cig? So downmarket. It just makes him look even more of a bogan.
The girl behind him, in the orange jacket, looks much more interesting.

Anonymous Eri said ... (8:58 PM) :

It's an ok outfit, and he wears it well. But it would be nothing special if he was less handsome.

Blogger Tina Beanie said ... (11:43 PM) :

Hotness! Very classic yet casual look. The cig has to go, though. LOL!

Anonymous ghd said ... (1:55 AM) :

Oh,I think he is very cool!

Anonymous Sloane said ... (2:14 AM) :

Under that shirt and sexy facade, he could be 60 and have the body of an 80 year old man, but it wouldn't matter! It wouldn't matter because, he wears this outfit with confidence and a simple outfit that is worn boldness and poise.

Blogger dav said ... (5:12 AM) :

Cortina proves again: smoking does, always has, and always will look cool.

Does anyone know who the eyewear is by? I like.

Blogger Rose. said ... (6:44 AM) :

A merry christmas to you !
Your book was one of my present and it was a wonderful present !

Does anyone known the name of the model of the SHADES he is wearing?

Designer/model/brand whatever, please, does anybody know the name of these shades?

Love this dude, he is always looking great.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT KIND OF SHADES HE IS WEARING????

Anonymous gwblack said ... (10:57 AM) :

Anyone know what brand of sunglass Mr. Cortina is wearing? The matte finish and cut is great.

Anonymous phoenixoutheashtray said ... (11:29 AM) :

" Cigarette smoking is both obnoxious and unhealthy. If you find it to be somehow "chic," either in Paris or Demoines, you're clearly a fashion victim. There was a time when "everyone" killed Jews. When "everyone" owned slaves. When "everyone" repressed women. Paris will be "chic" again when its arrogance is finally updated. "
the things you mentioned cannot be compared with smoking. smoking is something you do to yourself, and not to somebody else. therefore - if you don´t smoke, kudos to you. and if others smoke - let them mind their own business.
mr. cortina is hot as hell.
sex on legs.
whuuuuuoaw

This guy turns simplcity and austerity into an art form. I love and follow the spirit. He wears the clothes well, they don't wear him. The shades are fantastic, Tom Ford? I gotta have a pair!! From my point of view, he's beyond hot...
