Anonymous Mamamia said ... (7:02 PM) :

A Burberry trench is a staple like Chanel's classic caviar or Louboutin's simple pump. An absolute must.

Blogger Ditte, Dorte, Julie og Jeppe said ... (7:23 PM) :

those children are about the cutest ones I have ever seen! Burberry just looks good on everyone, no matter age or size. Love how this is proved by these 3 pictures.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:24 PM) :

love the head scarf

Blogger Morgan Taylor said ... (7:26 PM) :

I still like best the earlier post with the girl from NY rocking the trench. She matches the wrinkled texture of the items, and the rest of her look kind of jives with the trench, plus the tattoo poking out. Here these people seem to just have stuck the trench on as an afterthought. Just my opinion...love the redhead's trench style, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:26 PM) :

The KIDS snap is so great. I want grown-up sizes for myself...

Blogger Erin Louise said ... (7:27 PM) :

those kids are without a doubt the coolest ever. I definitely didn't transcend that sort of style back in the day. This post has officially moved "burberry trench" WAY up on the christmas list

Love this post and how all three pictures and how they are reflected differently based on age and gender. I think everyone should own a trench coat once in their life...

Of course, Burberry (my favorite designer!) is the go-to trench, but I even saw nifty ones at Banana Republic and Gap now!

Blogger squajo said ... (8:11 PM) :

Trenches are too short these days. I had my Burberry restyled to come to a length that was typical of the 1950's (just above the ankle) and a little fuller. Cost $$ but well worth it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:58 PM) :

Anonymous John M. Doyle said ... (10:04 PM) :

How is it that a garment that has been around for nearly 100 years, and which came from the trenches of WW I still inspires so much romance and imagination? Thanks to a new generation of stylists at Burberry the trench coat is something for a whole new generation to assign their own meanings and associations to, that will, no doubt, become as much of a signature icon for them as it certainly already is for everyone over the age of 50. For those of us who love these garments and appreciate the versatility and elan which they offer it would seem difficult to come up with a better alternative. (p.s., Trends be damned, the original long length is, in my humble opinion, still the best way to go.)

Burberry has been a classic staple of London's East(uptown) and West (down town) End styles for ever. Fascinating to see how the same garments are worn across the globe. Interesting that this post follows the one on cowboy's as I believe the western style style, along with 'classic' work wear ,are two of the greatest contributions that America has made to the menswear.

Elegantly trenched, the gentleman. The twins should be rolling in dirt, riding bikes, climbing trees, sling-shotting pigeons, stealing stuff et cetera rather than sartorial experiments for mum and dad. The lady, just gorgeous.

Pietro

Blogger Sophisticated Misfit said ... (5:36 AM) :

Mi scusi, I forgot... the Saarinen chair behind the lady is i-c-o-n-i-c. Love it and love retro furnishings. I have a whole apartment decked out in that style. I am glad it persists in commercial and residential situations.

Sarah T. representing for Canada (can't think of a better choice really). Got to be honest, what I like best about the picture is that I swear Sarah has a bag of Fritos in her hand...classic.

Scott, I love your snapshots of the kids/teens from London! So young, so fashionable. Keep em coming, please.

You just know which one of the twins is gonna be the bad ass (or arse, if you may) of the two! Quipped with a lion on his t-shirt, armband, hand coolly grabbing his twin's shoulder and his slick facial expression = Effortless cool kid!

The twin on the right just has sweetheart written all over his face and demeanor.

Those kids are just asking to be the subject of a children's chapter book about a pair of friends that solve mysteries!

That is until I realized I was just remembering the Mary-Kate and Ashley books of the same subject from my childhood...

On TV they don't come across as any more inane and vacuous than this one. Nice style though! Hmmm. Does that teach us anything?
