Beautiful bag! A bit out of place with the rest of the dark starkness, but overall a GREAT look on this guy!

I love the coat!

Blogger Korver said ... (6:33 PM) :

Let me just say that I absolutely love seeing the expressions on the bystanders faces in these past few photos.
Not a fashionista and only a amateur photographer so I can't make any technical comments about movement and color (or the lack thereof) etc. so that's all I have to say...

Blogger snobbery snob said ... (6:35 PM) :

nice. still hate man bags, though.

Nice Goyard bag :-)

Blogger BlumeBloom said ... (7:25 PM) :

I am really enjoying this style of photograph! Very engaging.

It seems that the subject is in a world of their own, while everyone else is in a mad rush.

Blogger Sacha said ... (7:34 PM) :

I love how the clean lines of his jacket contrast with his scrunched up pant legs tucked into his boots.

Gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:44 PM) :

oh gawd...goyard is to die for

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:49 PM) :

as jay z says "all black everything!" Looks fantastic :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 PM) :

my eye goes straight to the Goyard bag, a good contrast with his all black outfit :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 PM) :

I LOVE that jacket; I WANT that jacket and the rest of his outfit. What's the label? I'm still undecided about the bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:06 PM) :

Love the whole look, including the red avatar latched to his satchel.

Anonymous Elaine said ... (8:31 PM) :

This is such an awesome background for each of these photographs (Seventh Ave., NYC). Young man dressed in all black - great hair cut, interesting jacket (although the sleeves are too long). Do not like the boots with the pants hiked up. Great bag that he is carrying!

Anonymous Lucas said ... (9:00 PM) :

Goyard (bag) is the LV 2.0

Blogger Sarah B said ... (9:05 PM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:44 PM) :

More boring black and the ubiquitous Goyard tote. Money does not create taste. I am very tired of seeing the Japanese as walking billboards for luxe goods from Vuitton, Gucci, and Prada.

Blogger saint ST3PH3N said ... (11:51 PM) :

he raided my closet!
love it.

...little bit of lorca di corcia (sp?) about these three seventh avenue shots, no? it's nice.

Blogger Donna Camacho said ... (1:45 AM) :

Eventhough its a lot of black, he actually pulls it off quite well. It doesn't look dull and boring.

Anonymous Dustyflint said ... (2:35 AM) :

It looks like Scottie just beamed him down. Lovely!

Blogger BALLET NEWS said ... (7:34 AM) :

wow - what a great photo and look !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:04 AM) :

I love love love these photos, NY so alive all around, and in the middle a fashion statement. Beautiful.
i like his outfit too, bag apart.

Blogger Sophisticated Misfit said ... (8:24 AM) :

Sure, if he's happy with that, why not? It wouldn't suit me though; it's all too Space 1999 for me. Too complicated. I would look and feel like a gigantic dork.

Over the years I have learned to keep it simple and that works for me. Suits and blazers please. Linen ideally. And shirts. And silk squares.

Blogger K'arhol said ... (8:59 AM) :

no comment , just WAAW!

Anonymous Komario said ... (10:01 AM) :

Great photo!

Blogger Brett Johnson said ... (4:20 PM) :

Love the among-the-crowds shots like this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 PM) :

I wonder what time of the day these were shot? There's something odd about the light. It could be just the autumn sunlight but it all just seems hyper real. Not in a negative way. Just a departure from the norm. And the movement. A somehow super-stationary subject with a lot of movement in the background. I guess these photos really give a true sense of New York - the constant movement of people. Also like the fact that everyone on his left is walking away from the camera [locals?] and the folk to his right are engaging with the process [tourists?]

Le Fist

PS The Goyard seems to have more of a presence than the subject. Goyard... still not convinced about their monogram. I don't know... a little inverse snobbery going on... Just buy LV and be done with it. Love the way the girls in the background seem entranced by his bag!

Blogger uhuhuhjn said ... (1:58 AM) :

i love his shoes.

Anonymous Jackson said ... (11:52 AM) :

Scott,
May I suggest you venture about 27 blocks south to the Parsons downtown campus. The fashion students uptown can no doubt (over)dress but there is a certain sartorial splendor to the remaining student body on 13th st.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:12 PM) :

TAKUYA! Epic! Right outside of Parsons... what a superstar.

Blogger Martini said ... (10:16 PM) :

Wonderful light.

Blogger Amy + Dianne said ... (10:51 PM) :

those are my classmates in the back HAHAHAHAHA

come visit us again soon. and bring garance!

love-di

Blogger Joe VDB said ... (5:54 AM) :

This is all gonna make me buy a trenchcoat. Ugh. Advertising works again.

Blogger CW said ... (10:55 PM) :

The bag and the boots detract from the lines of his look. He could replace the combat-style boots with black chukkas. He could give the bag back to granny.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 AM) :

GOYARD!

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (11:20 AM) :

Looks like a superhero. And then there's his bag. With a doll on it? I'd say rethink those two.

Blogger Helen said ... (10:21 AM) :

This guy's pose and facial expression is unbelievably striking. He may be one of my favorite subjects shot by the Sartorialist in ages.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:45 PM) :

Love the jacket, the outfit (-the bag) as a whole, and the sort of superhero vibe he's working in the shot. I do hate easily-identifiable accessories or "this season's must-have" items like this bag--they make any outfit exponentially less cool because they make the wearer look less individual and confident--but the little red thingie on the bag definitely helps reduce its cheesiness.

Anonymous CJ said ... (4:53 PM) :

It's a little bit Star-Trekky but I like it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:36 AM) :

Oh please DO NOT LET Goyard become a Louis Vuitton!!!!!

Blogger Marianna Milkis said ... (7:17 AM) :

The shot is so full of fresh air, it's amazing! Totally New York feeling for me!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:53 PM) :

All this needs is the pink piping and black beret - and you got full-blown SS Panzer Division ...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 PM) :

His style is just perfect. He is wearing all black and yet it is not boring. With the absence of color you eyes are drawn to the minor details such as the the tucked in pants to the boots, or the out of place yet cool vertical pocket on his left breast.
The bag is the only color and the distraction that it brings makes it seem less of a man bag and more of a crucial item as though the man's job is to transport this bag

Blogger bibi said ... (10:32 AM) :

no way!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:18 PM) :

ahh again I know this guy too! you know how to pic parsons fashion students =)

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:26 PM) :
