Comments on "On the Street....ColorBlack, Madrid"
Absolutely love it. It's kind of bohemian and classic at the same time!
This is fun. I love contrast in color.
unabashedly herself. beautiful!
I want that sweater. Now. (Gorgeous colors!)
Just what this season needs - splashes of colour!
Love it! Makes me think of Missoni back in the late 80's early 90's.
My sentiments would have been better aroused if this was in Mexico, because of those colours but a lovely "exotic" touch on the arid streets of Madrid.
LOVE IT!!!!!! She is asesome and beautiful and real!
I love this! The ballooning proportions are so cute on her!

Wellcome to Madrid! Enjoy the city! Kisses. Bea

This is very very playful and fun silhouette and palette!
I ADORE ADORE your blog. Thank you for giving us the view of detail and the value of image. Cheers from a super young immature boy in Colombia.
On wow, oh wow, oh wow!
the nike bag ruins this
Those shoes are beautiful. JUST SAYIN.
FINALLY SOMETHING WORTH ADMIRING!!!! this is great.
woww she looks amazingly daring! love the colour - shame about the nike bag though! I guess it makes it more believable...
she is too cute! =)
completely magical
Poncho???
No sé, no sé...
if she lost the bag she'd look a lot better
I find the combination of shapes even more intriguing than the colours. + great grin!
Fun,fun, fun. Did I mention playful?
love the bright color and her big smile.
love the big contrast and her smile
Amazing sweater!! Love the colors.
Come check out my $100 giveaway:
http://underfundedheiress.blogspot.com/
She should have a solid black top and get and switch those shoes for a black pair. Then it would have been a fierce look. What's going on with some of these pics.A lot of what I'm seeing doesn't even work together AT ALL. This outfit for example.
She almost made the cut. LOL!!!
Attractive woman. Love the burst of color.
QUE LINDA!!
Madrid seems like a beautiful place to be
Those American Apparel ads are really bad! Right now it shows "Rachel in NYC" and it is reminding me of "Tootsie" (NOT in a good way!). I assume they are paying for the space, but some of the spandex stuff is really distracting, even next to that super colorful sweater in Madrid!
Gotta luv it!! <3

Madrid esta de muerte!
Thanks;
Everything about this girl explains why I dream of living in Spain.
People express themselves in an entirely different way there, don't they?
great blog! great taste!

thanks!
This is so Madrid.
Nice.
ahh....black and red: SO spanish. Sart: Next time you'll have to make it south. Madrid is amazing but Sevilla and Granada are far more rich in culture and each are very distinct.
Very distinctive style. I love it.
A nicely multicultural ensemble. Parachute pants, a serape/poncho, a Nike backpack. The ribbon and brooch/necklace about the blouse really make the poncho's colors pop more. Then this young woman's beige boots are truly a complementary neutral.
And of course, the best accessory a young woman can have is a smile. She really looks pleased to be photographed.
LOVE!
olé!
nice jacket, and the smile too!
I like how the pants seem to pour into her shoes.
nice colors with black!
yes! finalley in madrid! thank you!
So cute!
Nice way to highlight black. I like her boldness.
Just discovered your blog and I fell in love with it
Ciudad Real, Spain
Amazing knitwear! I wish I knew whose design it is. I'd love the pattern.
It reminds me to Frida Kahlo colors.
We are waiting for Barcelona style pictures :)

Gorgeous! Love BCN!
I love her natural manner. Madrid moves forward :)
one of the most joyful and stylish outfits i've seen for a while. or actually it's more than just the outfit, it's her appearance as a whole!
bold and beautiful, love it!

www.jetblackdye.blogspot.com
Hurray you went to Spain, living near Milana and travelling a lot to Barcelona I have to say I prefer the Spanish style, always more colour and a touch of surrealism..
At least u are in Madrid! I just couldn´t imagine u were missing one of the most Sartorialist cities that i have known! Madrid rocks!
Oh love her brights and her boots!
She looks great! I love how the pants taper over the shoe boots and her shawl/ cardigan just makes me happy. Cute smile!

I hope you find something better in Madrid, too much contrast for my taste. Your blog is amazing though!
Marta
Like we say in Madrid:
''De Madrid al cielo''
Simply fantastic!
Madrid, Oh Madrid. The funniest city in the world.
I love your blog.
Tinzi Po Ly (Paris)
love the booties... cool style
Beautifull Madrid!! Loved it!
Love it! Madrid definitely has got what it takes...
I'd say the smile makes the outfit... well, as long as you don't look at the shoes.
I love the trompe l'oeil bow top. And the fact that she's doing her own thing.
Thank you and Garance for being in Barcelona yesterday!
Here, me with you and Garance:

Lots of kisses, return soon!
I'm waiting for the photos in Barcelona... :)
Me gusta el jamón!
Love the cardi with the black underneath. She reminds a bit of Bjork, I don't know why. May be its the kookiness of her smile.
Anyway she's great, and I want that cardigan and I want it now.
awesome :D
Dreamgirl material right here.
Cozy retro colors on that sweater-- but the shape is very modern.
fantastic style. and that she wears it in Madrid doesn't even seem daring, just strong.
I was in Madrid last week, It's true, there was a lot of people like this!
bye bye
Venette Waste
She has a beautiful face and smile. I like all the elements of her outfit ( with the exception of the nike bag) but for me, it's not a pleasing combination.
adorable outfit...love the sweater, shirt and shoes!

si...Madrid es um buen sitio para descubrir personas fashion....no solo en NY, Florencia Y paris ....y barcelona y lisboa en portugal son buenos sitio también
translate: yes, Madrid is a good place to find fashion people....not only NY, florence and Paris... and Barcelona also... and Lisboa in Portugal are also good places....
I don't know what to say about this photo.. I like it but I also don't like it. The nike bag definitely ruins the outfit though...

gorgeous!
This is a really good attire. I think it is chinese since it looks so fluffy.

How bright and cheerful- lovely to see on this gloomy day in London!!! Ruth @ Matches

LOVE IT!!!!
Lovely photo.
The girl is nice, and you found a typical Madrid background , but with no ditches,no holes, no cranes, and no signs with ;
"perdonen las molestias, estamos trabajando por usted" ( please forgive us, we are working for your benefit).
Which shows that, apart from extremely talented, you are really lucky.
María
she looks so adorable! not many can pull this off like she can.
Love!
Love her outfit and her whole look is very something Björk would wear, which I love! Super cute silhouette, and I just love her smile!
great and different
Awesome outfit!
guau!!! me encanta
kansas coutur has those same boots on in her post haha! love this look!

lekisskiss.blogspot.com <-- two girls blogging fashion from nyc and chicago!
This is why I LOVE Spanish women.
This reminds me of something from an 80s issue of Essence magazine. Makes me nostalgic for the days when I actually thought I'd grow up and wear a coat like that.
Way too gorgeous.
Oh, the wonderful colors!
she's dressed like a modern Carmen...
love her face and attitude!
I dig that sweater big time!!!
I would give her a complete makeover .. she is very pretty but needs work come on.. bohemian ?!
quite joan miró inspired. love it. a splash of colour is the soul of style.
confident use of colour that's par for the course with the spanish and particularly in madrid. i'm guessing she's put this together on a budget - the nike logo bag is a give away and also annoying to the aesthete - but respect is due for a very strong look and a great smile.
Bright, colorful, contrasted...
This is Spain!
Love this combination, and the fact she is so at ease with herself.
aw beautiful!!!

Bravo! Another fabulous photo! You are so talented...both technically & the way you capture a moment that tells a story...This photo makes me feel happy! Here is an individual that cleary has a positive self-esteem, making her way in the world, both classy and retro-yet fashion forward.
her sheepish smile is the best bit :)
Beautiful! Reminds me of an Almodovar film.
Very neo-España. Olé!
I love this!!! I want her shawl/sweater thing. It make me smile and covet and the same time!
Love the dramatic sweater and how the whole ensemble is well-balanced wrt proportion. However, I find the funny cravat (or is it jewelery meant to look like a bow?) distracting and out-of-place and the shoe color not quite right. Either mustard-colored suede or aged saddle-leather booties would have been a better choice.
Nice to see someone with some real cajones!

Dee-lish. she's perfect!
Yipee....to see the Sartorialist in Madrid....my favourite city in the world !!!!!

She's amazing.
She looks happy!
Her smile is a wonderful accessory!
Wow, her smile is beaming. I love the silhouette she draped herself in.
Gorgeous bohemian beauty! love. The shoes being back the color of the beads on her shirt beautifully.

What a great shot! This is one of those great photos which illustrates the idea of clothing as a cultural art form in a very direct manner. A personal quirk, perhaps, but I see just a bit of Picasso in this picture-not only in the colors, but in the geometry of the composition, as well. (I'm thinking of some of the early Dora portraits, specifically.)
One of the great things about living in this historic moment is the manner in which all historical and cultural references are coming to be blended together in the way people are dressing today. While this is frightening and challenging for some, those of us who relish the journey of life are entranced by what is parading before us.
i love the SHAPE of this outfit!
The sweater it's so cool, love the colors, looks like a vintage piece, awesome!
Scott, I've followed your blog for close to 2 years now, but have never posted before.
This young woman displays a gorgeous, assured color sense and sharp attention to proportion, but what enchanted me enough to write is how you captured the strong Madrid sun shining through the knit material of her sweater, visible as a lighter azure triangle just below her uplifted left arm. It's so subtle, it's sublime.
The entire effect -- jet black juxtaposed with the vibrant brights -- reminds me of a daylit stained-glass window seen from inside a darkened cathedral.
Thanks for sharing these glimpses of other worlds and lives with us. There's a master's degree in seeing preserved in these pages.
without a smile, we are without bite.
Hi there,
I stumbled into your blog and found it extremely enjoyable. I just want to make a small Swedish footsteps following me. Trust that I will be back again soon!
Peace & Love
Agneta
not what i would have put together but what a freaking cute girl.
amazing shoes/boots love them - www.spotmag.blogspot.com
amazing dreamcoat....
highlight of the look... her Nike bag...
This week you get to know the truth ... Olé Spain and its people!
Very 80ies. Fun and playful.
Nelly
To me, the bag provides some sort of a contrast, a "real-ness", because this girl is just gorgous, with a wonderful smile. The shoes however, why!?
She is sooo clever! So well-thought! and those shoes!! they are fan-tas-tic and the red lipstick!
Goood job girl!
Great photo! Amazing!

Crouching Tiger.. meets Bruce Lee. Nice.
she is ADORABLE. And how can anyone not love the bold red with the black. omg. Nice.
Funny outfit, it seems really confortable and warm. Love Spain
its great. i could never actually consider wearing it though, its so outrageous and..bold
www.getobsessed.blogspot.com
separately the pieces are cool, but Im not really loving them together. great smile though
She is Beautiful!
I don't like the shoes but from there on up I absolutely love it. She's fresh and glowing and the sweater is outstanding! I don't care about the bags - not a fan of bags.
She's adorable but her outfit? Not so much. Way too costumey and what is with those pants???
We love Carol Gamarra, is one of the best stylists in madrid. Always giving a touch of color with his talent to madrid.
Great photo.
love it
Pobre carol, que mal lo paso ese día, entre su torticolis y lo poco que le gusta que la hagan fotos jejeje, pero sale guapisima.
While it's spring/summer where I live in Australia, I can imagine that in Europe it would be getting rather sobre, in terms of colour (especially judging by your latest photos). In such a season, I imagine her as a sartorial rogue, in her multicoloured cape, playful smile and unusual doublet, running around madrid so that she may gladden the people
Every so often I come here and read your notes. They make me look at your pictures in so many ways. I'm really beginning to think of fashion/of what I wear. Thanks you.
The Nike bag adds a bit of 'reality' to the photo. It was not completely 'styled'. I like it.
MKP
Her Sweater is real dope.
www.songklashop.blogspot.com
Her expression matches the outfit...thoughtful, playful, beautiful!
sensational combinations, like high thrift!

beautiful and spanish style: colorful, classic!
Do you think that girl was walking in the street with that "improvised" look?Let me know because I can not believe it.
Estupendas tomas. Interesante blog. Enhorabuena. Saludos.

The best part of this fabulous outfit has gotta be her :)
That sweater is wild. Looks wooly and warm. Is that a Nike bag?
I saw the shot before looking at the location.
Does anyone else think she looks like Janice from Mean Girls? :D
Great photo probably took at Puerta Del Sol...sporty & chic at the same time, great combination!
a great sweater.. like it!!
Awesome!
amazing sweater!

Ciertamente un look muy castizo no es.. pero el contraste es genial, y la foto fantástica!
we're waiting in Barcelona!
She looks so happy, I can disregard the pants and shoes...
The sweater is the only thing I like. The pants and boot combo are just awful. It feels to 1980s.
Wow, this is interesting! She looks cute in that colorful outfit and the girl is sweet. I mean, the cardiknit putted it to a whole other level. Cute.
www.fievree.blogg.no
What a wonderful cardigan!
so sick
I love the colours! I am not too sure about the bag! Her shoes are rather interesting. Would have loved to see what it looked liked on the side
I always love a mix of extreme comfort and style.
that sweater is aMAzing
"shes like the opposite of ugly betty like ptetty betty". I completely agree with this comment.
It's not my style, but I think it works perfect on her.
I hope you enjoyed Madrid!
Uh, sorry, too '80s for my liking.
The entire entire outfit just works!!!
My favorite part are her taupe booties, they totally stand out. Love it.
http://previouslyinaudible.wordpress.com/
she's so cute in the outfit.
http://missheadoverheels.blogspot.com/
HMM! I like the jacket it’s very colorful and bright. And the Nike bag is very sporty for the outfit.
I thought the outfit looks great! Her style is very inventive. I love her boots.
I know her. She always have great and creative outfits.
This is one of my favourite sartorialist pictures, the whole outfit is beautifully put together.
People is no longer dressing up, but puting on customes.
I like her vivid color, cool shoes and the black background. But I what about the ad next to all your beatiful photos, American Apparel is that some sort of crule joke? Or is it real cloths people wear? It looks very strange, even ugly. I don't belong to the ironic generation x, born in the sixties make me more the dead serious generation I guess, so I must ask
Wow such an amazing knit. The colors are perfect!
Fun and fabulous!!!!!!
