Vogue Pelle- The Fashionistas

The first thing I did when I hit Milan was go buy the new Italian Vogue Pelle.

I shot a story for them over the Summer, and I had been dying to see it in print. The lovely Giovanna Battaglia set up the whole shoot, it was really great to work with her.

Actually one, of the high points of my career came when Franca Sozzani stopped me outside of the Men's Prada show and told me how much she liked this story. I taught myself photography poring over photos in Vogue Italia, so for her to say that was such an incredible honor.

And even better than saying she liked this story; Franca and Giovanna gave me a chance to shoot another piece for them.

I shot that story while in Montauk this past August. It should come out in January.

Oh wow! Congrats!
Those are indeed spanking shots. These could nearly make me fall in love with leopard prints which I usually tend to use very cautiously and with extreme moderation.

Fabulous, Scott.

Nobody shoots women's legs like you do.

And they seem to be so relaxed in general for your camera.

Thanks for this post.

Sart, it's great to see your work in editorial format, although not surprising - you have a unique eye, I agree with everyone here who has commented on how you catch motion and spontaneity and keep it all so alive and in the moment. Do you use the same camera for these assignments?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

These are outfits that can be recreated at any budget. I love a lot of the photos on here, but most of the outfits are hard to recreate on a college students budget. These, however, are not the case. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:54 PM) :

I wear leopard prints every FW, whether it's 'in' or not. Love these shots.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 PM) :

They are so skinny, though, and too made up. That's just such a turn off to me.

What a lovely thing to behold in these images! They are the perfect for days which are now growing cold and gray. Looking at all of the gorgeous color, I felt as though I had just stepped away from spending time looking at some of my favorite paintings. Merci beaucoup, ecore, mon ami!

Blogger Olviya said ... (5:50 PM) :

o like the idea of street-style shooting. although vogue italia is well known for its fantasy-fairy-tails shots, it looks realy good.

Anonymous Grimm Fashion said ... (6:06 PM) :

Each set of girls could be character designs for Cinderella's wicked stepsisters. But I think the pair in the second photo down most embody their ethos. Patsy wants her hair back, darling.

Not that it's not all terribly glamorous, mind you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 AM) :

Love the unifying theme of all the leopard prints. But I'm just blown away by the last shot, by the heels, the umbrella hat and the magnifient silhouette of the woman on the right, by the great wit on display in the patterns on the woman on the left, and by the ways these fantastic ensembles are served up on stamped steel. Really beautiful.

Blogger the park said ... (8:56 AM) :

Blogger LIO said ... (10:25 AM) :

I LOVE the leopard print bicycle helmet. Her stance reminds me of a photo you took of a redhead model on her way to an audition (?). And in the comments people were very intense about her not wearing a helmet. I absolutely love that how the helmet is incorporated into the look -- something I'm just beginning to see on the street.

Good get!

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (10:39 AM) :

Great pix here, especially the last shot. It's nice when lots of talent comes together like this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:40 PM) :

These photos are stunning, of course, but such an interesting contrast to your 'on the fly' signature work of actual people on the street. The truth is still more compelling: slightly frizzy hair, that fleeting "real" moment in time that you always manage to capture at a crosswalk in NYC no less. I guess I like it all, but your 'real people' have my heart and keep me coming back for more!

CH and LK, 12:09pm... I would have thought that sudden widespread acceptance of an article by mainstream would be the source of untold grief for someone who had an affinity for that article and proudly displayed it prior to its acceptance by the heaving throngs.

You will now find yourself less inclined to wear leopard print, I am certain.
