Blogger Leanne said ... (5:34 PM) :

wow... so beautiful. I love all of the earth tones set against the black of the bicycle. For me more photography then fashion, but definitely consisting of both!
I came across your site last week as my friend has it set as her homepage, and I've been hooked ever since! I now think differently about how I put together my outfit, I have more courage to express my identity through clothing - thank you :)

This is how I would like to travel through my day.

Effortlessly lovely dress, shoes, hair.

The belt looks intriguing as well, wish I could see it better.
She is gorgeous and an inspiration to us "mature women".
Thanks for a very nice picture.

Blogger beths said ... (10:28 PM) :

Gorgeous dress & perfect pose. The bracelets: just as good as the bicycle and shoes. A shot to treasure.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:43 PM) :

See, what ruins riding bicycles for poor fools like us outside of Italy is having to wear a helmet. Imagine the lady wearing one and you'll understand what I mean.

She's just completely gorgeous and natural.
Why can't I ever find a dress like that?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 PM) :

I want those baskets and the dress too! What a romantic picture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 PM) :

If anyone can enlighten me about this graceful woman's beautiful dress I wold be very grateful. The lustre and drape of the fabric is amazing - silk/linen blend maybe? Some kind of voile?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 AM) :

The really big hand-stitched hem is incredibly charming, and so evocative of the 50s/60s, when women would let the hems of their garments down or up depending on the fashion, so you always needed extra fabric just in case. A simple shirtwaist dress is so sexy, too. She is very attractive.

Blogger C A said ... (12:39 AM) :

Very simple, yet chic. I love these bicycles, it's a pitty we don't see people driving them in other big cities like we see in Italy a lot, I find it part of our personality, way of living.

She's so beautiful without looking try-hard. Perfect!
Why aren't there more dresses around like that? So flattering for so many women...

Anonymous Catherine like Deneuve said ... (3:40 AM) :

This shows how a person could bike to work or to run errands without looking like Lance Armstrong. She is perfection. Classy, comfortable, practical.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:58 AM) :

just lovely...

Blogger Claudia said ... (5:05 AM) :

I LOVE THAT DRESS and I WANT THAT BIKE!!!

This is what I would wear every day if it didn't rain so damn much in Dublin *or if it weren't so cold for my bare legs to deal with*

Anonymous Cecylia said ... (6:19 AM) :

WOW. I love the duo baskets and her amazing dress!

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (8:10 AM) :

the dress is Dries Van Noten from a few ago - at least that is what she said.

Blogger Sarah said ... (8:21 AM) :

I love the bike! she looks great!
Kind of old school Parisienne! XXX

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 AM) :

Every year I moan the same thing: where are all the good dresses that are affordable? Women of a certain age look wonderful in a good dress. My definition: a quality made dress with flattering lines that includes SLEEVES! The trend to sleeveless dresses even in the winter is stupid. One doesn't always want to have to find a sweater, jacket, shawl, shrug, whatever to cover the arms. The fabric in this dress is gorgeous with it's sheen and fluidity. Envy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

wow I've always disliked this color, and I see now that I am completely wrong. She looks so pretty in it.

Anonymous a. said ... (9:52 AM) :

riding pretty right there

Blogger Since Age Zero said ... (10:01 AM) :

the way the bottom part of the dress falls - all the folds, etc. - just so beautiful!

the color of the dress is the perfect, subtle contrast to her tan.

love it, scott! :)

I dont know what it is, but anytime you post a picture of milan, I do recognize it...italina flavour?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:09 PM) :

She's timeless, classic and radiant. Even with such a small image on the web, I can imagine the feel of the texture of her Dries dress and those amazing wicker baskets; the aroma of the street, and the energy in the air. So beautiful-- like an image from Cartier-Bresson.

Blogger Brazilberry said ... (2:25 PM) :

Its my dream... To take on the dress like this, to jump on a bicycle and to go through a city.. A bit country romantic looke in the city environment.. Charm of contrasts!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:27 PM) :

It's hard to imagine that this woman lives a life as ordinary as my own. She is grace, beauty, confidence and timelessness, all rolled into one! Wish the culture I live in were more conducive to this elegance on wheels!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

wow one of the best! she looks so effortlessly chic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 PM) :

Pietro,
A helmet-less girl in my village went too fast down a hill and ran into a wall. She had to be airlifted to a bigger hospital an hour away and was between life and death for weeks. Then she was in casts for months. The human head is much more fragile than we'd like, and a helmet is much, much more chic than casts or scars.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 AM) :

If someone could just design a stylish helmet...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:28 AM) :

I agree with a previous poster that simple, good dresses are really hard to find. Especially shirtwaist dresses in soft flowing fabrics -I have googled 'shirtwaist dress cotton lawn' for several summers -- why is it so impossible? Affordable dresses are generally over-designed, with an empire waist (great if you're 20), and too much 'stuff' going on.

This looks beautiful without the bike.

Anonymous angelbuddy said ... (4:09 PM) :

i can hear her skirts swoooosh as she bicycles through the city...why are these women so extraordinarily sexy on bikes? for her, i don't know if it is the skin-tone color that seems to dominate the pic-- or if it is the thought that her skirt might blow up and give a peek at what has to be fantastic underwear...my next fashion purchase may have to be a bike. big accessories are in, right?
