Comments on "On the Street....Friends, London"
Those pants make me cringe. Sure it is a good photo, but the women's style is questionable.
love this look-it's a classic.
Are you making a statement regarding these damn cute striped boat shirts??? I have been looking all over for one.. I think you are teasing me, sartorialist.
coincidental or accidental?
i like the shot from behind them
so embaressing when somens wearing what your wearing and does it better
www.fashionwhatsnext.blogspot.com
I like how they're "casual" on the top (and matching may I add!) but the blue lace up heels add a FABULOUS surprise!!! :]
and that bag on the right is so pretty!
loving the twin feel because of those pullovers
OMG! i love the blue shoes!!
Amazing blog, man!

we do this kind of thing

Is anyone else worried about the birkin on the ground?
Stripes! Yay.
I never like the idea of my friends copying my style or choices...I just feel is so sad trying to be "like"
Awesome...those blue shoes !
Oh my, those green pants do not do this slender lady any justice... bleghk. And the blue shoes are a bit trashy, sorry to say it. I much prefer the sweaters and the other two women's outfits, especially the black heels behind the blue shoes and the blond's beaded purse.
xx
I love the stripes, and the blue shoes.

Scott,
Could you burin in the pants on the left? We can't tell if they are also shiny, plain cotton, denim, or something else. For fields of black its nice to have some context.
beautiful shot.
Really nice photo
I have to say that your blog is amazing.I love these photos ...
Congratulations

those blue lace up heels are incredible!
http://pastseasonsghosts.blogspot.com
Poor effort for London
after the movie "coco avant chanel" I see the sailor shirt every where...it is a nice piece to have...
I love how they took the same shirt but finished it off in such different ways!
I like de colour green but not the patter
i love the striped top..
http://lejclassics.blogspot.com
xx
those blue lace up pumps are rad
It is so nice to see that the horizontal stripes are popping up everywhere. These ladies look gorgeous.
I've been looking for a striped sweater this season, but haven't found the right one yet, and I want a pair of green trousers too. And suddenly they are here on your blog. Nice work Scott!
I love the blue shoes too. Those woman really got a look I like a lot. Simple, classic, with an edgy accent.
Thanks.
I love the olive-ish colored pants. I also love the body in them! I would so buy them if they looked like that on me!
The studded purse with the leather pants is a classic female rebel look and I am partial to that too.
i like the horizontal striped top
I have that sweater... it's a cardigan from h&m!
Funny "coincidence" between friends, something you don't want to happen...
The rest is without interest...
Beautiful British Vogue ladies
Loved the shoes
I really like the blue peep-toe heels.
I LOOOOOOVE THE FRINGE BAG. i want one!!!
xoxo,
F
lekisskiss.blogspot.com <-- two girls living in chicago and nyc blogging all things fashion.
I live in England and oh my god everyone owns that striped jumper or shirt!seriously!Hence I don't really see the 'personal style' or whatever scott looks for reflected in this photo...
One of them could have at least worn a skirt, if they knew the other was planning on wearing the same top. Otherwise, this is silly.
Great street shot. Do you always ask to take their picture or do you stop, click and move on?
those pants are harrible but the tops on both are cute
Something unappealing about this. The two women might as well be part of a team in charge of handing out fliers. It almost cheapens the Breton shirt as with anything that's over-saturating the streets. I'm sure they're not too happy about it either.
I'd love to be a fly in the wall when they first met up. Unless it was intentional, then I'd love to see bystanders as they walk on by.
3 striped ladies in 2 posts....not bad!

friends AND twins!! i need to get myself a breton stripe tee :)

Where did these pullovers come from?! I'm DYING for one just like it and have been looking everywhere!
Lovely mix!!
WAOW WAOW WAOW!
I loooove the black sandals..... they would be perfect for ME!
Stripes again.
*sigh* It's going to be a long season.
Perhaps these girlies will now learn not to jump at the latest fashion fad as soon as it is born?
I know I would hate it if my best friends and I would turn at a place wearing the exact item of clothing, especially if it is one that it has to do with the latest fad.
Is that Anna Dello Russo?
Like I always say, great minds think alike!
It reminds me of grade school when I would call my friends to coordinate outfits.
I really like that you can see the same sweater from 2 different angles. Cool photo!
I have been looking for that exact sweater for ages! This is torture!
loving the bag on the right...
it was nice meeting you few days ago here in LA! my most recent post is about you :)
www.christysong.blogspot.com
Certainly gives the word identical new meaning! Out of the two though, I much prefer the lady on the right with the black trousers. I think somehow she makes the top look a lot more chic, and plus I love her taste in footwear! Those blue shoes are really gorgeous, kind of a geeky retro look.
Its certainly an interesting post in which to compare the styles.
http://clothescamerasandcoffee.blogspot.com/
Aww, they must be BFF they're matching. I've been looking for a stried boat shirt for EVER!
http://sharifaknows.blogspot.com/
Is this a new game, Scott? One photo has a common element with the next?
I love those strippy sweaters. Such a fresh look.
Cute...same shirt yet completely different styles. If you're gonna be strange best friends and wear the same thing, this is the best way to do it!
Good Shot!

Ooh, it's been at least a decade since I last saw a pair of synthetic cargo pants with a faux Oriental symbol embroidered on the seat! Great photo, and I love the tops, shoes and hair, but I just can't love those pants!
says a lot about the british high street ---> :(
Style is so-so according to me. What I'd like to see is the face of the blonde - what gorgeous hair! It's rare to see thick blonde hair.
Those blue shoes are pretty awesome.
Oooh, you just gotta love those stripes! Where can you get one of those?? I've one in deep blue and with a bow :D
While it may be a singular observation (and an eccentric one, no doubt) the first thing that entered my mind when I saw this shot was that it reminded me of a Joan Mitchell painting I saw at the Albright-Knox Gallery last summer. This is clearly one of those great instances where many of us who are viewing this shot are reading it in myriad ways. Some of the commentary has focused on the garments themselves, while others have commented on the setup of the photo. Really, what matters is how the two things work together to create a tableau upon which we can project our own thoughts. This is the wonderful and artful dialogue between the language of clothing and the reading of that language that propels fashion to be born, die and then be reborn again.
i love the strip sweet shirt :0
i love everything except for the green pants
fashionminutes.blogspot.com
That sort of thing can ruin a friendship
www.openzedoor.blogspot.com
Those plastic bags do nothing for me...
Apparently I'm one of the few who like the green pants. I want them! Anybody know about the bag on the right? Is it Jamin Puech?
Sigh* so french.
always a fan of the stripey.
I like the blonde in the back to the right and her grommet-y bag. Her pants look like they fit better than Miss Green Jeans, too. And her shoes are polished which is always nice.
Uh.............
I think it's cute and fun they're wearing the same top. And I love the green pants. It's quirky!
Whoo, stripes!
those shoes are amazing.
looks like Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah of the label twenty8twelve..
I love them striped tees ; thanks ever so much Coco Chanel !
Is she the same girl in the photo before, Sailor Sweet, Paris? Now she is in Milan? Hmmmm...
cuuute sweater, soo versatile
kinda reminds me of a chanel piece
i love the navy stilettos - the front looks cool from the side but cant see very well :(

Love their striped tops!
The tops are from Topshop for all of you who are dying to get one:-)
Am I seeing doubles here?
Sameness is lameness
I want the striped sweater they have on..
ahhhhh stripes stripes..i really love them!!
stjarna
Hi guys,
I bought this exact same top (i'm nearly positive it's the same) in topshop yesterday, there's even shoulder pads in it too!
Hope that helps anybody's search
i actually prefer the green pant to the black...i feel like boring plain black skinny legs may have done their dash...i am loving black brocade pants...
Blatant self promotion coming up...
you can check out a pair on this blog

Really lovely pictures you have. I just got your book too. A great source of inspiration.
Just found a new interesting blog with pics from Paris fashionweek

{uninhibited fashion blog}
nautical sailor looks. very chic.
loving the shirts/sweaters and have been trying to look for some myself...
but i agree with some people - those green pants are mightily questionable. perhaps it's just the picture? but it doesn't seem to do her much justice!
I like the studded hardware bag in the background though.
Ok, and what?
Balenciaga jodhpurs, I believe, from Fall 07?
I wonder if they'd arranged it, or it just happened. :)
Not my personal style but recognise it as being London girls for sure...the matching of outfits, the plastic bags, streaky hair...shoes are great though!
Is they r both twins girls standing here in same dress code...? And in this pic we can't able to see faces of any girl completely but still because of their outfit pic is gr8 going. Nice..
John
sweater is cute but I never would have thought to pair it with those pants... they don't flatter her bottom at ALL.
Damned, could have been the perfect picture, if only the woman with leather pants would have been in the centre of the picture, seems like she's wearing a perfect model!
Sofie
Great picture, so much to think about. It looks like the two on the right go to the same hairdresser.
i'm in love with any stripes t-shirt.
white and navy, navy and white.
it's THE garment.
:D
zita
Oh the beautiful striped shirts, makes me tear up a little. I love the heels the lady on the left is wearing, an interesting shade of blue.
LOVE this images so much: Your images of these individuals' back are always my favorites, whether they be of someone walking away, or like this one. They take the casual snapshot to another level; one that reminds me of the sweet anonymity of the works of Magritte, Cartier-Bresson and Jean-Charles Blaise.

Nice shoes on these girls! ;-)
www.lifebychristian.com
Fab. This I love.
xx
http://walkthesand.blogspot.com
I don't think these are the same tops though... If you look closely, the woman on the right's top flares out slightly at the hem, and there's what looks like shoulder pads. The woman on the left's top is lacking both of these. Similar color and stripe size can be misleading.
Such a nice picture, Scott.
What they are wearing is not the authentic Breton shirt.
Want/Need the bag on the right.
-Catherine
oh so cute. i like how they both styled it differently, though im not loving the green cargo pants..
www.getobssesed.blogspot.com
sooooo gorgeous, i just love your work!
xoxo, Hunter

I love the stripes, but the green pants make me cry.
London is the greatest city in the world!! Hate the pants, love the striped cardigan (H&M - I have the same one)
Milana from www.FashionStyleAdvice.com
I LOVE the olive pants and I don't care if I am the only one :-)
Cool shot, the blue lace up shoes are very pretty as well!
cute:)
Get that purse off of the ground, STAT!

the girl in the balenciaga jodhpurs is pippa holt from vogue, they did a post about it on the vogue blog. love the Breton top!
the bottle green pants are awful!
BUT those Breton stripes get me every time!
kisses, :)
RS
It's two UK Voguettes, those Bretons were everywhere at LFW, blame it on the Zeitgeist!
Good picture

it's cool that they're not embarrassed to be dressed alike in public. :)
The tops are from Urban Outfitters
My brother and i kinda like almost the same garments..... so we're ok to buy it double... since we do not share.. and the interesting part is... we can wear it at the same time...we never look the same at all... cuz hes like rosed skin tone..dark haired...im more like pale with ginger hair.... hes a square body shape....my shape is more athletic.... so we work that out in a distinct way. so to speak...its not what you wear... its all about how u wear....and im the stripe kinda guy.....
is it only in london that girls really do carry plastic bags along with their designer handbags!!!!
get a bigger bag!!!! and a bag for life for groceries...
are those Balenciaga shirts and pants?!... - rei (theanne69@yahoo.com)
I love how people in Europe dress up. When I moved to States, at first,- It was shocking. American freedom is in everything, including outfit. Sometimes it feels like people forget to dress up in a morning and just go straight outside, without noticing that they are in underwear or sleeping pants.
Those girls on a picture look Hot, dressed up with fashion. I love the picture.
