Blogger Michael Limaco said ... (9:18 PM) :

That is the most casual look I've seen from a mix-match suit ensemble. It reminds me of the West Coast for some reason.

This works for me!

Blogger Carl said ... (9:21 PM) :

I love this! He's even popping his collar, which I've tried but people hated on. I enjoy looking at this guy and think to myself "why didn't I come up with that first?"

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:21 PM) :

i love mixing the same prints, this is a great example!

Anonymous sanmiguelense said ... (9:34 PM) :

And the hat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 PM) :

Wow - Well done!

Blogger BlumeBloom said ... (9:41 PM) :

I love him!

Blogger G. R. Mardock said ... (9:48 PM) :

Brilliant. Absolutely love it. I wish you could've caught a close up shot of the hat, however.

Otherwise, the whole combination is great. Love the watch, too.

Blogger Know Your Legends said ... (9:50 PM) :

Well done and class!!

Blogger IAMTHEANGELNEGRO said ... (9:54 PM) :

loved!

Blogger Jeannine 520 said ... (9:56 PM) :

This should go into the "what not to wear" file. I'm not fond of the 3 plaids but that's only part of the problem here. The two watches are another sore spot. I don't like this.

Blogger joann tucker said ... (9:58 PM) :

oh so classy! loving the beard and every bit of detail on this guy!

Blogger KORY said ... (9:58 PM) :

nice.
Thats called making it happen.

Anonymous Claire said ... (10:00 PM) :

I like how the color of his drink offsets his jacket.

Blogger J.Teheren said ... (10:09 PM) :

Well done sir! Well done indeed.

Blogger Michael said ... (10:12 PM) :

I looove the plaid! I love the colorus and the pattern together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 PM) :

ooooooo! This guy has STYLE.

Blogger Fernandaandfriends said ... (10:14 PM) :

I hadnn't really noticed the mixture of plaids until after the second picture. Love how he wears the jacket, very unique!

Blogger Pindie said ... (10:16 PM) :

works so well as each plaid is a contrast of the other and mimics the colours.

what is his pin of?

j'adore,

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:38 PM) :

funky, yet still very well put together. his accessories compete with the coolness of the plaid. the glasses and beard, the unfolded collar, and tiny dreads peeping out from the back of his hat... i love this photo.

Blogger Neezy said ... (10:42 PM) :

Very subtle mixture, the colors and plaids work well together.

The only thing I can think to say is~ a man that's invited to the Burberry party in London can dress like he wants to!;>)

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:54 PM) :

that's great. i like the way he's wearing his collars too.

Blogger RJ said ... (10:56 PM) :

HAT.
FRAMES.
BLAZER.
SLACKS.

Phenomenal.

Anonymous An said ... (11:08 PM) :

I think it works because the grain of the plaid is almost identical. Also, if you look closely, the plaids both have traces of blue and tan. There's not giant clashing checks. I like it!

Blogger AngelaP said ... (11:09 PM) :

damn. look at the quality in that outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 PM) :

This guy is definitely a rock star! Love it!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:15 PM) :

i liked

Blogger romaine said ... (11:19 PM) :

It's all good!

love that it is not trendy, etc... and looks very eye-pleasing. more please.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

fresh

all you need is bloc party or english beat and you're set

Anonymous Nat said ... (11:28 PM) :

that is so rich in color, soo nice. not too much but just the perfect pieces.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:34 PM) :

Is it actually only 2 watches?
or
are there 2 on each arm?
Interesting idea.
smiles.

Blogger Pictures on Page said ... (11:36 PM) :

Love the plaid blazer and the added accessories. The watch, hat, pin, bracelets...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 AM) :

Oh Jesus... we're looking at the same photo, right? I don't like it at all. Either plaid blazer or plaid slacks; not both. Either pop the collar or lift the sleeves; not both. Either lift a drink or the mobile; not both.

Pietro

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:08 AM) :

So nice!
Thanks for the sartorial vitamin.

Blogger Larissa said ... (12:10 AM) :

I love love love the outfit! The man clearly has a lot of style.

But, I wish the trousers were cut by someone who knew what they were doing. The check is so far from matching at the center front, it's criminal.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:16 AM) :

The plaids go well together, but I completly hate the fit of them. The pants are way too big, and the blazer isn't very fit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:19 AM) :

Now that's what I call cool!

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (12:28 AM) :

Truly incredible

combination of perfect pieces working together - even the colour of the drink works to set off the outfit...

Oh Prince of plaid, I fall at your feet in adoration

Blogger Rosie said ... (12:43 AM) :

I think I want to try his whole look for ME! Great tweedy fall look without looking heavy.

Blogger iamagloworm said ... (12:45 AM) :

this is beautiful. love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

Love the sophistication of cut and fabrics, but he has over-accessorized so much that it destroys the look. Accessories should be chosen with care.

Anonymous Anni Hall said ... (2:30 AM) :

gorgeous look!

Blogger Niki said ... (2:40 AM) :

Brilliant!

Anonymous iouiou said ... (3:18 AM) :

Quel style, quelle classe!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:21 AM) :

It's full of things that shouldn't be done, still it works.
Love it.
Sophisticated Sanford & son? :-)

Ciao!

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:56 AM) :

This gentleman appreciates the fluidity of plaid. Thank you.

Anonymous Pamela said ... (4:00 AM) :

Fantastic!

Blogger Barima said ... (5:07 AM) :

Funnily enough, it's the fellow's over-accessorising rather than his plaid combinations that make the outfit a little OTT. I like the colour of his sportcoat

B

Anonymous tobe said ... (5:09 AM) :

nice combination... i love the horn-rimmed glasses :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 AM) :

and the hat as well!!!

Anonymous loulou elizabeth said ... (5:41 AM) :

its the same pattern almost but in different colours. i wish i could see the shape and cut of the trousers. it looks great but im a bit board with this style to be fair. great tailoring tho x

Blogger Beatriz Cóias said ... (6:36 AM) :

It's Sam!

Blogger SequinsandBangles said ... (6:56 AM) :

He reminds me of Will.I.Am, I love the beautiful shade of green. Colours compliment each other very nicely, and I love on the zoom how you pick up the brown running through the green. Beautiful, and it shows how important fit and cut is in a tailored piece like a blazer.

Blogger anna said ... (6:57 AM) :

what a gorgeous gentleman!

Anonymous Dounia said ... (7:11 AM) :

I find it so hard to pull out a mixed plaid look from head to toe. But somehow you manage to always find gentlemen that do that brillantly so. Well done ;)

Blogger beths said ... (7:35 AM) :

I like the fabrics and accessories together, and together they look good on him. Except that the fit of the jacket and of the trousers is poor. Looking at Sartorialist photos trains the eye to want to see good fit!

Blogger Ashley said ... (7:50 AM) :

I am always blown away by the details you notice and subsequently capture beautifully in photos.

Blogger indigo warrior said ... (7:54 AM) :

I'm fascinated by the turned collar on the jacket. I always wonder what men are thinking when they manipulate their clothing in this kind of way. I suspect this was a 'cool' thing to do.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 AM) :

Funky to the max~!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:09 AM) :

crazy and i think i like it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:43 AM) :

Excentric.
Too much...

Horrible!!!

Blogger Brummagem Joe said ... (8:49 AM) :

Crazy, but it works overall. None of the checks work together but somehow he pulls its off and produces a stylish if not particularly elegant effect. It's hovering on the line between stylish and slightly clownish but I have to say he stays just on the right side. I'm all for mixing checks but if you are like the rest of us you really need to vary the size and patterns. Glen check pants/houndstooth socks to give a very simple and obvious example.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:54 AM) :

DISTINGUISHED!! One of the best.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

What a clever mix, loved everything from the hat to the glasses to the coat, and even the beard. The watch is uniquely pleasant, only thing that is a miss is the white handkerchief on his pocket being too big.
Love this site

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (10:23 AM) :

I wish I was a fly on the wall when he put this together for the first time and that lightbulb went off over his head. Looks great.

Anonymous fsn said ... (10:30 AM) :

i see this guy on my bus some mornings here in london and he looks amazing every time - will have to say something to him next time i see him, to compliment him on making it onto this blog.

wow!! I can't believe how much I actually like this!?! fabulous!

Blogger erin nuts said ... (10:58 AM) :

perfect mix. and he has fantastic nails, which is a nice little complement.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 AM) :

When I scrolled down and saw "Mixed plaids..." title, my morning breakfast started to come up in my throat a bit. But after scrolling down to the photo, he looks sooo cool. Not many people could pull this off, but he does!

Anonymous princess glee said ... (10:59 AM) :

Hells yeah!

Blogger Julia Bolchakova said ... (11:08 AM) :

I would emphasise the neck scarf with yet another pattern even more and get the solid color hat. But it's just me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 AM) :

As several people have pointed out, this is the same plaid which doesn't make it that hard to tell that it could all go together. But just because you can, doesn't mean you should! Too jacked up on accessories and LOOK AT ME. I vote no.

Blogger hi-d said ... (11:12 AM) :

Love the mix!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 AM) :

Cool optical frames.

Blogger shark mombassa said ... (11:22 AM) :

so subtle - gorgeous shade of green - altogether very dapper....

Blogger juline said ... (11:33 AM) :

awesomeness

Anonymous Mariam said ... (11:37 AM) :

Some smooth style here, there is a reason why Satorialists shot him and i see the reason, a unique blend of elegance.

Anonymous xris said ... (11:41 AM) :

über natty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:51 AM) :

This outfit is definitely not for everyone. Can you imagine the gentle in the left (background) wearing this outfit? He will look like a clown.
This guy wear it with such confidence........wear what suits you..well, i guess we need to know what suits us.

Blogger Obia (Haute and TRASHED) said ... (12:13 PM) :

simply perfect.

Blogger Alexandria said ... (1:15 PM) :

Great use of plaid. I thought that this was Will.i.am at first

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 PM) :

LInton Kwesi Johnson vibe and you can't go wrong with that.

Anonymous Valncami said ... (1:38 PM) :

Absolutely Love this!

Blogger m. said ... (1:50 PM) :

favourite look of the week! amazing.
How is he doing that!?

Blogger mia said ... (2:12 PM) :

thank you god for 'doing' these people and thank you for photograph them!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:30 PM) :

The green in the jacket is so beautiful. It's a color a lot of guys won't wear/buy. The mix is bold, but it's one of those "certain city", "certain look", "certain age" kind of looks that doesn't work on everyone. He pulls it off with a lot of panache.

Blogger Siru said ... (2:35 PM) :

I love plaid!

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (3:49 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:03 PM) :

Different, but a good different. It looks effortless. Very classic.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:10 PM) :

FANTASTIC!! Guy has taken traditional items and patterns. mixed them up, accessorized them, and made them hypster cool.

Great contrast to the very BCBG Paris gentleman in tweeds.

Blogger Matt said ... (10:56 PM) :

Immaculate!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:56 AM) :

~very classic. it reminds me of old school sidebar singers of the 60's.

Anonymous Out of the Rabbit's Hole said ... (10:07 AM) :

The Hat
The Frames
The Bracelets
The Pins

Blogger Cris Piera said ... (3:19 PM) :

perfect "no match", successfully worn!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 PM) :

Damn!

Shaka always gets it right. You deserve all the attention.

I love the look. It's perfection, 'n so are u.

Blogger Dithyramb said ... (7:31 PM) :

Masterful!

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (12:56 AM) :

The hat makes it work.

But he should lose the beard.

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (11:09 AM) :

I am loving this mix.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:00 AM) :

Very obviously an urban take on a 'country' look, so too contrived for me. The juice for me in 'authentic country' looks is in the shoes, socks, bags, scarves. So the lack of detail means I am unable to feel this guys look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:19 AM) :

Yes, this is what i was talking about. authentic fashionista is back.

Blogger Stitchnwear said ... (1:30 AM) :

Love the mix...always good to mix anything up, limitless!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 AM) :

hat and pants little too matchy-matchy

Blogger The Blasphemous Fiendess said ... (5:11 PM) :

I love this plaid mix; it absolutely works and the colours are great. Something isn't right though, maybe the accessories?

Anonymous Lilac said ... (10:26 PM) :
