It will always be a delightful experience to sit in a cafe in Paris, watch the scenary, take pictures and watch out whats trendy, and whats hot!
Found out this morning whats hot for this new season that already arrived in nyc (its coldddd, already) in jewelry, its gorgeous: creativity and an enchanted forrest collection: http://www.mercedessalazar.com/

great shots. You should write more, your observations are quite interesting!
Haha. Yea Parisian (or French in general) service is not the best in the world ^^
Lovely pictures as usual!
Those grey shoes are amaaaaaazing...as is the Max Mara Coat - very much in line with a Michael Kor's coat recently shown in Vogue - photo is cut and hanging on idea board for inspiration..
a beautiful moment in time.
thankyou.

www.getobsessed.blogspot.com
I so enjoyed this group of photos with commentary--a little Paris documentary to start the week.
That's one fashionable cafe. Love the Dolce & Gabbana silk trousers and Garance's coat that lets the 'sleevs underneath show through'!
That last picture: gorgeous
The 1st woman is beautiful and so gracious and classy.
Hahahaha
I laughed hard at the 'pleading for food' bit:)
Although I never really had any issues with the service when in Paris:)
Sart, I have a question - when you and Garance are out together and you spot an interesting subject, do the two of you squabble over who gets to take their picture? I like to think it's a fun competition for you both!
Also, just picked up your book and I love, love, love it. Congratulations.
dosent get much better than that..surrounded by beautiful women in an amazing cafe during paris fashion week....life's hard scott huh....haha
Is this the Castiglione? Great place for people watching at fashion week. Once sat beside Peter Saville and some models for a while, just staring!
it must be so fun hanging out with garance! i wish i had a friend i could roam around snapping pictures with...

I never quite understood the allure of those pajama pants, but now I get it! I get it! I am dying for those pants! Worn with that blazer they look much less like sleep clothes and more like chic trousers.
http://rosieshaheen.blogspot.com/
nice coat, max mara is the best making theirs
oh my gosh, I love this set of photos! You are surrounded by fashionistas. Loving the pajama pants on the first lady.
www.fashionsnag.com
I want to be in this cafe!
I love the way Garance is hamming it up, haha.
The first girl's style reminds me a bit of Lauren Hutton.
I LOVE the shoe shot. It's fantastic. Particularly after seeing how gracefully the woman in Converse is dressed and holds herself, the shot is even more striking. And I love her shoe practicality contrasted with the other lady's shoe elegance. Fantastique!
The lady in navy with dots is what style and class are about.
Is the lady in Photo #1 wearing silk, polka-dotted pajamas?
PS: love the cafe "Scenery" in Paris.
xoxx
RS :)
DEFINETELY EXCITING. LOVE IT. WISHIN YOUR STORY RIGHT NOW!!!!

CHICMUSE

Loving all of these photos...can't get enough of your blog. The perfect way to get my dose of fashion!
So I see.. Garance got her dream coat:)It looks great on her.
PS: love the pj's!
Good googly-moogly -- with company like that, who needs food?!
Garance looks wonderful in her new coat. Great choice.

Ah, to sit in a cafè in Paris and enjoy fashion life as it unravels :) Such a nice post!
Love the Dolce pajama pants with Converse.
Haha, namedropping, nice pictures though...
I adore the Parisien cafe culture, designers waiting for their coffee. Fashionistas are more than likely to be grabbing a coffee to go, when the fashion week is on!
PYJAMARAMA....nice.
what a life!
you + garance are super adorable!
xo
Not all French cafes are created equal. Please add cafe's name next time. It makes for a more interesting read for those that know Paris.
Cafe culture has always been one of the most interesting things to do in Paris...to see and be seen...check out what other people wear...admire those long legs...drool over a derriere...
Life at its best.
very funny shots. The lady in your first pisc elegant and nice. Garance is very enjoine, and Viviane i dont like.
you are the best Scott, vip naming droping
I miss Paris!

Wow, how amaazing/funny. Wish I was there. The first girl is lovely!

Love those silk PJs in the first couple of pics. As usual, Garance looks great in the Max Mara short sleeve coat. Love it paired with gray.

Wish you the best
CH.
i love pictures 'at the Cafe'
and these are beautiful and the woman is fantastic and 'magical' :))
very nice
are you sure you're not in heaven? because i think you may be in heaven, possibly, maybe.
On the left it seems like the "Dolce & Gabanna men's pijama inspired collection" from this year. I like the layering w/ the Converses.
Mlle. Garance's coat is just perfect, always beautiful.
It goes to prove that personality is far more important when it comes to make fashion worth.
How do I achieve that undone messy French chic hair? So amazing.
loveeed those pictures!!
those troussers looks like this Giovanna skirt shooted by u once
http://www.thesartorialist.com/photos/3029DGgbWeb.jpg
kisses!
C'est Paris!Fantastic!
if that's what people watching is like from a parisian cafe', sign me up. these woman look so interesting and chic.
garance's coat is darling; very casual the way she's wearing it over a gray sweater.
pleeeeease do more of this! merci mille fois!
Looovely! Garance is so adorable and I adore her coat. Ooh la la! xo.
Awesome leopard scarf!
Great lot of photos, thanks heaps :)
i looove her pajama bottoms with the quirky sox and chux- sooo cool :)
I want to be apart of your Paris! J'adore Garance and her silly ways. I would kill for a seat at DVN's show...
What wonderful shots! How it brings back cherished memories of being in Paris. Nothing shouts Paris better than the cafe's...I can almost smell them!!!
Looks like Le Castiglione right by Goyard. Great photos as usual!
Oh, how lovely is Garance?! She is perfect even hamming it up for your camera! Caramel and heathered gray, very classic. J'adore!
so weird....but very natural....
nice pics!
come to my blog....
I love these candids!!! Especially the ones of Garance and the woman in the silk pajama-esque pants.
http://fashionroadkill-halifax.blogspot.com
the beautiful via class people are getting a bit boring.
Gorgeous shots. Thank you.
I wish I had beautiful legs like your friend with the grey shoes! Shame about the pyjama pants - I know they're D&G or someone like that - plus spotty socks plus sneakers???!!!
what amazing pictures! i love seeing your eye, your presence in the photos ... please post more photos like these! You make me feel like I'm there, in Paris.
Maybe the french service is bad and the french people rude, sceptical, ironical and not very smiling (that's for sure!). But remember, it's Europe with a heavy and complex history, and not USA which is somekind of nursery in comparison.
That makes the people different and interesting, don't you think?
;-)
I like the documentary-style photography, but cmon Sart, you're beginning to sound like Gossip Girl. This is supposed to be a street fashion blog, not a day in the life of the rich & famous. I'm worried posts like these will ultimately lose your most important readers..
For Anon 2:13
if anything i am getting back to street style even more.
I have passed through the big fashion media (aka Style.com) and have be able to afford to follow my heart and shoot want i want.
I spent the rest of that day on the Left Bank and not at the shows The only way to prove this is to keep coming back and seeing the diversity of places I'm visiting.
Dublin
Sao Paolo
and
soon India and Korea.
what a charmed existence you lead!
Oh you lucky one! All that going on around you!
And I see Garance got her Max Mara jacket... Now I'm jealous for the both of you!
How great it was meeting you and Garance at Colette in Paris last Saturday. What a stylish, kind lovely couple of photographers you are :-) Bonne sejour!
I absolutely love this! I would read an entire blog with Left, Front, Right accounts from your daily life. It's a really amazing way to feel perspective. Garance looks fantastic as usual and the photos are just so beautiful. I just bought your book, by the way, and it's already dog-eared! Thank you!
Aaah! I wanna be in Paris when fashion week is! (But the comment about the service is true!)
garance looks amazing as always-love the image with the woman behind the hedges xx
You obviously seem to be in good company - but I like the woman in the PJs reading (some kind of book not a blackberry) and pleading for coffee best! Oh, why can't a café in Paris not be my living-room??
Oh no! It's the menu, not a book!
Absolutely fantastic. One of your best set of images in a long while, more like these please. Love the atmosphere here.
Hey Scott,
Your post about your father is definitely my # 1, but this one is one of the best ever. I enjoyed this one in particular because of the different moments in one setting. Also, in this one you haven't lost the fashion-touch.
Paris is truly one of my favourite cities. So beautiful!
Fabulous Garance with Max Mara Coat. I love pijama trousers with dots
I need to see the lady in the i-guess-dolce-and-gabbana pants standing!!!
Things I love about the woman in the first 3 pictures.
1. the tux jacket
2. the hugh hefner pants
3. the socks
4. the shoes (with this outfit)
5. her hair
6. her manicure
7. her expression in the second shot
8. the fact that she doesn't know she's being photographed
9. her radiant beauty.
She is just stunning.
Couldn't agree more with 2:13
Love, love, love the gray shoes in the third shot. Does anyone know who they are?
i adore all of them but the woman's outfit in the last frame is just amazing
MORE, please!!
those pijama trousers with those socks made my day hahahahaa.
almost like being there
Who made those unbelievable shoes? Perfection.
These photoes are so great, they are casual and full of life.
GORGEOUS pics! Am in love with Garance's Maxmara coat!
xx
I need to be in Paris.
NOW!
Ooh Garance got the coat! hehe! YAY!
ps. Wish i was there!
Love the shoes in the 3rd photo. Nice to see that Garance got the jacket. She's been admiring it for quite sometime now. Looks great, Garance
isn't anyone going to say how her slacks look like nightwear?
david
Oh to live in a climate in which a sleeveless coat is even a possibility...I'm so interested that you're about to go to Korea. I don't know if this is actually true, but when I lived there many years ago I recall that Korean women were obsessed with the fact that Western women have long legs ("long dal-ee" as I remember). Korean women tend to be a bit shorter and with shorter legs. I was told that this is why they obsessively wear/wore heels, even when hiking! (Seriously, I did see the latter in the mountains in and around Kyong-Ju.) You'll have to let us know.
Hey, one sec. Just wanna say a couple of things.
Firstly, the first lady up there looks like someone that's just returned from an extended holiday in Asia where people order like that. I am sorry but if I'm going to beg for food, I expect the staff to beg for me to pay the bill - on their knees. Order with conviction; begging is not European.
Secondly, I like a tuxedo blazer worn casually but dislike her silk slacks worn with sneakers.
Sneakers are for the gym or jogging. A Parisian cafe' deserves more.
Pietro
*gasping* OH MY GOODNESS! Vivienne and that dress, the belt, the scarf..the Max Mara coat..I can't take it!
http://loveyourfabulousself.blogspot.com/
i luv the max mara coat!
i, too, love the grey shoes...any ideas where to purchase them?
chic, chic, chic...
je voudrais etre la aussi!
Simply Amazing!
You have to love Paris!
truly a great great city with some of the world's greatest women! :--)
who is the first woman, please? Absolutely delightful!
OOohhh My Lord, what a life! I adore the first woman. Love, love, love her style! Oohggh..
Beautiful .. really beautiful
I <3
Respects to your eye for capturing these wonderful & graceful moments
I was having lunch there on the sunday. Lara Stone was no only sitting the table right next to me but also she was eating the famous cheeseburger of the Castglione with a normal coke! Healthy models :) The photos are amazing!
hey, great idea to the left, centre, right... just like being there. an oasis of loveliness :-)
do this more!!
Too much, Sart. Please - this is giving me heart palpitations..
Lovin' it,
Bird
Oh to be sitting in a Parisian cafe watching the stylish world go by - you have such a way of capturing the right moment.
All these people look soo chic and laid back.
Her pants are fantastic! I never thought I'd see someone pull off pajama-esque pants so elegantly. The only thing I'm not crazy about, is her manicure. The black nail tips caught me off guard and for a minute I thought she had dirty fingernails!
With this post you really made me want to move to Paris, having a glass of chablis at the local cafè. Ah. Thanks!
Whenever I leave a negative response it is never printed. (I complained yesterday about the idea Flore being loaded down with fashionistas. I admit Flore was historically full of fashionistas of ideas.)
I think your blog would be more interesting to run the negatives as well as the "oh my God, where can I get those shoooooesss?"
I send enough complimentary ones, after all.(And I am only anon. because it's such a hassle to get a tag.)
The first lady's name is Uberta and she is a milanese fashion/design consultant.
Tha slacks ARE pyjama pants.
The grey shoes are Luisa Beccaria.
Voilà!
The girl in the polka dot pants. The fact that you captured not only her wonderful look, but her way of being...simply stunning.
Thank you Scott.
Di from San Francisco
BEATIFU PICTURES! I Like it!! :)
oh goodness... love this "fly on the wall", birdseye view of the fascinating life you live. Thank you for sharing! (Garance looks perfectly lovely in that gorgeous coat!)
Ohhh...Love these shots! Those grey shoes are amazing. Love the scarf too!
blue/ polka dots/silky/masculine and the trainers with those socks - so very chic - love it love it
the second photo in this series is drop dead brilliant - so evocative. really, really well done.
anyone know where these silk dotted trousers come from?
also, to Anon 2.13pm -- it's fashion week! give the guy a break! :)
Anon: The slacks ARE Dolce & Gabanna. Thank you.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8a_Q3V_Nmlo/SYCucjNBO2I/AAAAAAAAJ4I/fHpnybz4__8/s400/00010m-1.jpg
J'adore Dior but more so, Garanace.
Anon 8:41 AM, just roll with the punches, mate. Probably half the stuff I type never sees the light of Scott's blog.
I understand his position though. He's photographing personal friends at times and he can't necessarily allow raw criticism. It would otherwise seem as though he condones and agrees to the less-than-charitable sentiments.
Pietro
WHATTTT!!!! You didn't take a picture of Yasmin!?!?!?! Don't torture us this way Sart!
it's great that garance has gone and gotten her coat just like she said she would. the gal definitely knows what she wants and i love her for that.
also the pyjama pants from Dolce & Gabbana, wow, i never thought that one could wear those in public with such grace. maybe it's because i have a recurring nightmare where i come to work with pyjamas :) those nightmares won't be so disturbing anymore and i won't psychoanalyze myself over them as long as i can achieve this look in my subconcious. note to self: look at these pictures before going to bed every night
Love the freckled face of the pleading woman...GORGEOUS!
The first women seems to the model Tatiana Patitz (in the second picture)...
The idea of "the pause café photo shoot" is just genius : please more !
Love the praising lady in D&G silky dotty navy pyjama pants, adore the Garance picture.
Creativity, love & ambition do grow when shared, must be part of the reason why your couple is so magic ! You both emulates each other perfectly.
(and please excuse the lame english)
The pajama girl in the second image is achingly beautiful.
I loved the manicure on first woman...
LOVING the belt cinched around her waist! And the fur scarf is divine!
I despise the pyjama trend.
Ms. Dore looks chic, as usual
Your work is much better when it avoids the famous/fashion literati. The anonymous are more interesting.
I looove the greasy hair on Garance, so chic, so now!
the girl has a head cold for heaven's sake...
how amazing it is to be in your shoes! soon, when i grow up, i hope to get a job similar to yours. :P in the meantime, thanks for sharing your experiences.
and yes, your book is totally inspiring. but some of the images i like weren't included. the sartorialist vol. 2 perhaps?
Cheers!
Hugs from Malaysia,
Aiena.
Service in Madrid is even worse. All my non-spanish friends (and my self, despite being spanish myself and used to that) agree on it. if you don't shout at the waiter/barman, you won't be able to order in most of cafeterias.
On the other hand, I had already seen those Pj's on a celebrity and I found them ridiculous. Glad that an anonymous lady surprisingly made them work. She really has style!
How glamorous I am drunk, adorable moment !!!!!!
That polka dot pant (I gess it's part of dolce gabanna's pijama suit) doesn't look bad on her... but I cannot believe that someone spends a great amount of money on this pant, she'll wear it only once or twice.
The Max Mara coat is awesome, as the faux leopard scarf. I NEED TO GET ONE!.
I love this post!
