Comments on "On the Street....Loose Layers With Shorts & Hi Tops, NYC"
First guy looks great!!!
thesingular.blogspot.com
Ugh, no . . .usually I am pretty anything goes (okay, probably less so with men) and while I like some individual elements of these guys' outfits, the big shorts just make them both look like overgrown toddlers. Not good.
fantastic scarf!!
<3 The Voguette
both quite boyish looks
endearing
i meant that it reminds me of the british school boy in the 50s
Are we back on the pidgeon toe thing?
It's a very silly, wonky kind of look, if that makes sense. I don't like it at all.
i love ''loose''
I love both looks, but the second one hits it off for me, first time I see a man wearing a louis vuitton bag in a good way.Loving it!
second guy- What a brave choice!
I like the first guy too ... he has a powerful presence and looks like he's off to art studio. Love the scarf.
My goal in life is to look like the guy in your second picture.
i love these. especially the second guy - it looks a bit awkward and he looks a bit confused or like he's been through a helluva time to get to this moment. the feet almost look like they've been photoshopped in from another photo. i love it because it's totally unexpected.
Both are amazing! Both have an amazing sence of who they are!
I suppose we women wear a lot of apparel that makes men think 'huh?'
This look does the same for me.
With men usually being so concerned with looking taller/bigger, these guys are really saying something by purposefully looking wider and stumpier!
I wonder what exactly it is that they are saying?
I love everything about the second guy!
the first guy is awesome. love the scarf!
The second guy actually made LV looks fashionable, not just a brand name bag.
Completely ridiculous!
love the long loose shorts.
love the 2nd guys look apart from the Louis Vuitton bag i really hate labeled products it diminishes the hole look to a moving add....
This is very Tokyo-chic. Love the 1st look esp the scarf & wide boots. The tights are killing me on the 2nd look, would've been better w/o them.
love the boots on the second guy.
I love the contrasting story and style of the boots in these pictures.
One boot, feminine, fragile and meticulous.
The other, gruff, unkempt and lived in.
Both, clearly loved.
both great photos. The top look I like, the bottom, not so much.
A lot of the men's outfits I see on this site are lovely, but predictably unpredictable -- they often make sense in the context of the rest of this site, and probably the rest of the fashion world. But this second guy seems truly beyond the bounds of current fashion. I have no desire of wearing anything like this, but I admire him for his individuality.
Handsome, but please, no pigeon-toes.
Then I think how grown-up the young woman in Bryant Park appears and how child-like these men. What's that about?
As for the guy in the bottom photo,
I like the way he looks at us, I feel the autumn...
Kuddos to both for making each look their own! But I think more balance is needed.
It's in the scarf. It is. He needs some sleep to pull it off.
The second guy is almost dressed like a woman: which is not good to me.
i love the scarf on the first guy! i love it when men have a bohemian style!
So, my reaction to these is hard to pinpoint. Which is great, by the way, that's one aspect I love about your photos and the characters in them. They are unique enough to challenge me. Well, simply put, these two gentlemen's attire challenged me. I don't like them. But I do respect them for the intrigue and the general concept they are going for. Just not quite pulled off in a manner I would prefer. Maybe one of the designer's who reads your blogs could get some inspiration from these and do a better version.
The second look is not only silly, it's horrendous.
These guys both look amazing and individual.
Ridiculous? Maybe. But in the words of Susan Catherine, "remember that always dressing in understated good taste is the same as playing dead".
peachesandluigi.blogspot.com
the first looks fantastic, comfortable and cool. the second looks like a try-hard. why the fuck are you standing like that?
they look gret, both of us.
the second guy has all my attention yet his wearing, nice socks and nice bots and I loooove his jumper!
love love love the scarf!
There's something with this look.. awesome.
it's like he doesn't care much about the whole thing which i believe is the total opposite.
i wonder if i get the balls to dress like this someday!
I love love the second guys look!

not this shoes! not this bag, please!
Fashion victim + try too hard = style bypass.
this is not style, it's a mess. Tramp chic? God help us.
Let me guess- some effortless sloppy get-up, and a bit of LV accessory saves the day? No thanks.
The proportions on the first guy just make him look like he's got the world's stubbiest little legs, so not digging that. Scarf's a bit of all right tho'.
The socks on the second guy make me laugh What's printed on them? Seagulls? Craftygirl shears? Anyway, more proportion there that I find unflattering and unappealing. I like him muchly from the neck up, not all all-ly from the neck down. And I despise the bag.
Umm... no.
They look like they've both been out for an afternoon of "dumpster diving".
'Found' is not always a good look.
I get the feeling way too much thought went into these outfits and on top of it, it was wasted energy.
if i had to sum up the second photograph in one word, it would unfortunately be "TRY-HARD".
I mean, it's brave and has some great pieces (sweater and shoes), but just all together like THAT, with those socks/stockings and lv bag... i just don't know any other word but try-hard.
It actually took me a couple of takes of cringing before i saw the "grey-t" sweater and boots.
If i was to try this look (loose layers with shorts and high-tops) i would attempt it with less disarray, and maybe that would work. I agree with one of the Anon.'s before me; the concept is great, but the execution is maybe a little off
Wonderful looks, really street-chic.
These guys must have a tremendous sense of style. Great proportions, good choice of colors.
Congrats.
Second is boho-great!
What's up with the pointing toes! This looks so ridiculous!! ANd completely un-sexy. (women that do that too look so handicaped, IMO)
Peace for straight legs
A very different proportion, but it comes off as quite chic. Thank you for showing us these looks.
the first man looks like a bedouin lumberjack in baggy pants, the second looks like a combination flashdance newspaper boy. I love both of the looks
the second one might be one of my favorites. the individual pieces are so feminine (boots, necklace, murse, and those look like tights) but it comes together as a really cool, male look.
good.
he look like British boy
i hope that you come S.Korea.
Top guy is just too contrived. Looks like a child who dressed himself. Bottom guy is owning it and his inspiration is clear.
I like the first look, he is very confident and looks like he is on his way to an art studio. He owns this look and is pulling it off beautifully.
The second look however is making me wonder when homeless-chic became something we strive for!
I really like the second picture, something about his attitude. Plus we don't expect the fact that he's got a LV bag which brings un certain je ne sais quoi!
I want that Louis bag :)
www.ThomasDistrict.blogspot.com
i love the second dude's bag his whole outfit looks awesome. AND i love the concept of big shorts!!
the Frist guy has an amazing look, got a lot of solid blocking, the second looks unsure of who he is, again the frist looks strong in it, happy with himself, not smug, but sure, good eye for detail love the belt and the scarf
Neil
Great shots, but the guys look silly! They're trying to project being unkempt just a little too hard.
When troll fights elf, we all lose.
Great looks, both of them! So simple yet wonderfully thought-out. Brill.
men cannot wear clam-digger pants. not ever. even women need the help of a heel to keep the proportions right. these two just look unkempt.
Doesn't work at all, not for my taste.
The scarf, the beard, the whole je ne sais quoi...first man...beautiful...seriously...beautiful.
For men, please no LV bag with logos all over saying "I'm Louis Vuitton!" And please, no pigeon toes.
Both of these outfits are disasters in my opinion, though the second man's attention to color/neutrals is refined. The boots are great, the sweater and the bag are great... all together, he appears to be trying too hard.
They are absolutely awesome.. Like it..
Second guy is totally hot. Everything about this outfit is incredible. What style!
The second guy is the boyfriend of Leighton Meester! (AKA Ms. Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl) Nice.
john!!!!
Of course the second guy has great style. He's Leighton Meester's (aka Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf) stylist!
xx,CC
I really like the first guy's outfit. He kind of looks like he takes some normal styles that you see out here in the west coast--the long shorts and t-shirts and big basketball shoes. I am a girl, but I would love to wear those shoes...haha.
Who is the second one,,, James Nesbitt in an undercover fashion role?
I mean honestly what an ffing mess...
was not expecting this at all when he scrolled up.
Both are amazing! I prefer the look of the first one.
The scarf really does it for me in the first shot-pulls it all together. Not too into the second look.
The first guy looks kind of like some CIA operative working in the field in Afghanistan, nothing wrong with that per se. Bold printed scarf, baggy clothes, beard, even his high-tops look vaguely like desert combat boots.
John from oki-ni= amazing style!! love the scarf and the whole relax look.
Nicely done from the 1st guy. Very Boyish. good choice of boris bidjan scarf, rick owens shorts, & peau boots!
John you are amazing as always!!
