On the Street....Inside-out Shearling, London

Again, it's not what you wear - it's how you wear it.

I dig.

Blogger Caitlin said ... (10:39 PM) :

I love her boots but it's overall a look that is far from classy, in my opinion.
(but come on, I like pretty much everything on this site, she seems to know what she's doing, this kid)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 PM) :

not a pretty picture. the run on the legging and the sloppy shoes just don't compute. the leather side next to the skin will feel sticky after a while. shearling is meant to trap air and warmth inside, between the skin and leather.

Blogger Saffron said ... (11:06 PM) :

cute.....also those pics by Polka Dot of you are darling :-)))

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 PM) :

With a face like hers, anything goes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 PM) :

Without malice, this is too Punky Brewster meets Pippi Longstockings for my tastes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 PM) :

She looks like a whimsical, young vagabond! I will continue to imagine the world hasn't managed to break her spirit yet.

Blogger Candace said ... (12:10 AM) :

She is certainly wearing that coat like it's reversible, love it! And I have a suitcase just like that...different pattern tho, it was my grandmother's.

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (12:16 AM) :

Exactly, it is perfect on her! She looks quite adorable.

absolutely adorable — & fantastic suitcase!

Anonymous ellabella said ... (12:32 AM) :

the coat is inventive, but i love the shoes and bag! they are worn so genuinely! (could live without the shirt).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 AM) :

Stylish certainly, but I don't love the look.

Blogger Adriel said ... (12:39 AM) :

lovely boots and eyes

Anonymous jordan said ... (12:46 AM) :

despite your ability to capture a certain something in just about anyone, i still fail to see the loveliness of this outfit!

i'm certain there's someone out there that will love it, however.

Blogger THE BEAUTY OF SIMPLICITY. said ... (12:47 AM) :

I liked this girl, and of her T-shirt too!
woooooow beautiful photoshots here!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 AM) :

She is cute! This is a look that works when you are really young and really beatiful, as this girls is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:55 AM) :

I like her shoes. so worn out and edgy

Blogger Leah said ... (12:58 AM) :

so true. this look and the quilted coat below are worn very well by these two. you really know how to pick them!

Blogger MuseElle said ... (1:10 AM) :

I am simply in love your with your blog. I wish you even step foot in LA. There's still fashion people here! lol As I always say you wear the clothes, do not let the clothes wear you.

Blogger Holly said ... (1:31 AM) :

I WANT HER BOOTS!

Blogger flybynightkarmarepair said ... (1:31 AM) :

I do not wish to sit next to this gamine on the bus just after a warmish downpour. That is a seriously impractical garment, that coat.

While this look intrigues me, and the elements work pretty well together, for reasons I cannot explain, no.

Blogger nikky said ... (1:43 AM) :

i completely did not think i liked this ensemble at first glance, until i sincerely looked back at it and realized that it's a rather unique look.

her shoes, her shirt print, and her expression are a great combo.

Blogger Nick Leonard said ... (2:25 AM) :

Really love it.

Anonymous Poppy scott said ... (2:28 AM) :

why did you cut the photo's? Is it because you thought the tights and ripped top were to much?

I know a lot of people who dress like this. She has the right face for the clothes. Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:42 AM) :

she reminds me of a vagabond
and i agree with your quip - it is definitely about how you wear it

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 AM) :

Har har har,

you'd think, with that awesome train case, that she'd be able to afford clothes that fit.

It looks like she raided a combination of her lil sister's and homeless grandpa's closet.

But kudos for creativity though. She probably has better fashion sense on a more regular basis than I ever will.

Blogger julieann said ... (3:09 AM) :

It serves to prove one should experiment & have fun when very young. Over 20 this would look more baglady than Kooky !

Blogger Hanna Persson said ... (3:51 AM) :

right on.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:06 AM) :

Individually, I do not think any of these garments are appealing. Together however, they tell a story and that is what fashion should be all about. Also, how old is she?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:17 AM) :

how taxi driver...

Blogger Pearl Westwood said ... (5:45 AM) :

Love how she had the whole grunge look going on, then pairs it with the sweetest, girliest little suitcase ever!

Blogger Charlotte said ... (5:58 AM) :

I love it...it sums up British style. Not polished and glossy, but slung together, and intentionally mussed up!

Blogger Poppy said ... (6:13 AM) :

A completely fantastic jacket, it really looks amazing on her.

Blogger ingefaer said ... (7:44 AM) :

doesn't inspire me, but anything goes at that age - sweet face.

Blogger catarinaque said ... (8:13 AM) :

I just want her bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:24 AM) :

When you are young and beautiful, you can do everything!
When you are 40, you look like a
clochard:-(

Blogger AliceHarold said ... (8:33 AM) :

She stole Henry Holland's rubbish in that outfit... http://www.viceland.com/fashion/2009/09/stealing-henry-hollands-rubbish-for-the-sake-of-cool-hunting/

Right again Scott!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

liking the boots. where could you get a pair like those?

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (10:01 AM) :

Awww Sart....
as a 40something I can not seriously be inspired by a girl one-third my age. Shouldn't she be in school?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

Can't say that I like her outfit, but I do like her spirit. Points for creativity.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:31 AM) :

I was scrolling down, and just looking at her face I could have sworn this was going to be a picture of a 5 year old... a bit unnerving to be honest. Love the boots though.

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (11:24 AM) :

You were right to take her picture, Sart. What is she - like 12?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 PM) :

i want those boots...

Blogger Bookworm said ... (1:39 PM) :

I'm not a big fan of the actual outfit, but I love that suitcase. It's very vintage-cool.

Blogger SabinePsynopsis said ... (1:53 PM) :

cool! I wore my dad's coat exactly like this in the 80s. I think you have to be quite young for it to work, though.

Blogger Bowerbird Photography said ... (2:05 PM) :

i love the funky boots!

Anonymous aggy said ... (2:26 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 PM) :

Gorgeous photo! Her face is like an angel. Her brief case is crazy!

Anonymous desertwind said ... (7:24 PM) :

Right on, Sart.

She's a doll.

Why do older people think she won't turn it back-side-out when the weather turns?

(I did the same at her age and young is adventurous not stupid.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:31 PM) :

PERFECT outfit. Suits her so beautifully for her age and attitude. Very fetching. Would love to see what she's wearing 10 years from now.

Blogger Alex said ... (10:06 PM) :

I know Billie! I worked with her in London, and she has the best sense of style--anything goes. Her personality is exactly the same, never a dull moment.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (10:21 PM) :

Great shots! She's definitely one of a kind on this blog.
I want her brief case!

Anonymous m.edwin said ... (10:40 PM) :

this girl is inspiring.

Blogger Hanna said ... (2:33 AM) :

I love the shoes and suitcase. It's funny because it makes me realize how young I look. I cannot tell how old this girl is (although she does look young to me) but I feel like I look about the same age as her and I am 21.

Anonymous evie said ... (5:29 AM) :

adorable

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 AM) :

love it

Blogger AONIE said ... (9:12 AM) :

Anonymous Dan said ... (11:57 AM) :

A 21st-century Maria Schneider!

Blogger erin nuts said ... (11:13 PM) :

I think London will always be my favorite of your cities - such a no-fear, I-like-it-and-that's-what-matters attitude. I wish you shot there more.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:19 AM) :

She's got her own thing happening-- takes a bunch of disparate pieces, puts them together and makes them pop.

I bet a lot of people walk by her and turn around for another take, trying to pick apart how she works her magic.

Anonymous Annika said ... (2:21 PM) :

I love the contrast of the smart, sophisticated shoes in the background. What made you split this into two photos rather than one complete outfit?

(Still I think if I saw this stomach exposing top in real life, I might think it was trashy)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:34 PM) :

Cute baby

Anonymous coco said ... (3:58 AM) :

She's too cute... like the girl in the movie Lolita

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:45 PM) :

I like this outfit in separates- not together. However, the bag just makes the whole thing amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:39 PM) :

Great shoes. Where is her mother?

Anonymous Bianca said ... (11:36 PM) :

She's either 16 or 17. Not sure, but I read her blog. Billie JD- http://www.billiejd.blogspot.com/

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:29 PM) :

gawd...those boots! that suitcase!

Blogger blog said ... (9:21 AM) :

isn't this that billie porter journalist person?
