On the Street....Draped Pocket, NYC

I love the whimsy of her look, but when she put her hands in the ingenious draped pockets of her dress she really won me over.

i love seeing the same people on different blogs, i get to see so many perspectives. you and 'jak&jil' share a lot of the same fashionable people. i create all these back stories in my mind. i love knowing that all of these fabulously chic people cross paths all the time, and that they love sharing their love for all things wearable.

basically: seeing this woman on jak and kil i thought "i love how the feathers and cardigan lend a sense of femininity to her edgier black pallete and chunky shoes."
on your blog i thought: "how amazingly simple and classic, with a fun feather detailing to give her that extraa something."

perspective.
it's all about perspective.

regardless, everyone on the blogs i follow are impeccably refined in their wardrobe.

I think there should be a law that everything has to have pockets! Love this look and how she just threw on the cute cardi over such a statement dress!

Lovely feathers and frolic...

In the first photo, I could not figure out what the fringe was - from a lovely scarf! She is very cute, has great legs, her shoes/boots are nice, great earrings. The background of the shutters, dress shop and yellow lines on the pavement is very nice also.

still, fashion is not always about practicality:)

Blogger Nick Leonard said ... (7:06 PM) :

I love those shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 PM) :

I like the way that her hair and the feathers seem ready to fly away at a moments notice. What a pretty picture.

Blogger Samantha said ... (7:21 PM) :

i love the bubble hem and the texture of the feathers chic yet playful

Blogger Jessica said ... (7:55 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:42 PM) :

Love the combination of slick and floaty, nubby and light. So much happening in few colors!

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (8:44 PM) :

Love the juxtaposed textures, colours, nonchalantly placed hands in pockets and the feathers! The navy against baby pink is stunning too! Such a playful, fun & beautifully-put-together outfit!

Anonymous jules said ... (8:54 PM) :

one of my favorite shots and subjects of yours; she is elegant, playful and so unique.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:08 PM) :

Cute Carrie Bradshaw look-alike, except she's more real. Ah, to be young again and flashing the gams! I, too, really like the pockets and also the long sleeves as a contrast to all the leg exposure. She rocks her own style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 PM) :

You, Jak, and Jil all seem to be at the same places!

I love the first shot of this... The pockets really are a nice detail. I really dislike the cut of the sweater, though!

Blogger Obia (Haute and TRASHED) said ... (9:54 PM) :

the boots compliment the dress rather well.

Anonymous carolyn said ... (10:35 PM) :

She wears it so well! btw your book is amazing. hopefully i can make it to your book signing tuesday =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 PM) :

hate to be a naysayer here, but without pants or a skirt, this look is half-baked.

Her legs are lovely, but ... get dressed, for goodness sake ...

Blogger Lions, Tigers and Fashion OH MY! said ... (11:13 PM) :

This is perfection, love the cute pockets and the unexpected sweater with this outfit!

Blogger SarahELizand said ... (12:50 AM) :

I've seen skirts with these kinds of pockets, but never a lovely dress like this one! Something about it is classy yet nightlife-ish. I love it! Reminds me of the 20's for some reason.

Blogger Lexie said ... (1:51 AM) :

i love that this dress is navy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:47 AM) :

I love the shoes, and she is a pretty lady, not 20 anymore, really beautiful, but she doesn't look confident in that dress, like she is trying to pull down the hem, so I think the whole outfit would look much better with leggings, trousers or even with jeans.

But its a great shot of a beautiful woman!

Blogger Acid said ... (3:03 AM) :

you notice first the whimsy. you notice next the beautiful textures.

very lovely look. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:15 AM) :

i have those boots :D
1) she should have worn her hair differently though..
2) colors colors colors... i dont know i like things to match and they just arent in this outfit.. i mean pink cardigan, navy blue dress, black shoes, and brown bag? maybe if her shoes were navy blue? i dont know she couldve made an attempt or something but i still love the cardigan over dress look

Blogger FashionHippieLoves said ... (4:55 AM) :

wow stunning outfit!!!
really like her heels...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 AM) :

Boots and bag without matching?

Anonymous someone said ... (6:29 AM) :

perfection

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:34 AM) :

It is such a perfect expression when a real individual faces us.

Anonymous Zoe said ... (7:35 AM) :

pockets make the outfit! skirts should all have them, dresses to infact. and I can't tell whether the feathers are part of the dress or a scarf but I know I like them, would be quite figure flattering to the flat chested amoung us

Blogger Mina said ... (7:47 AM) :

lovely..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:34 AM) :

Great legs to fit the shoes ( I appreciate them being polished ) and a personal dress.

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (1:43 PM) :

I don't know, Sart, I think you're just gaga over navy.

The boa and fluffy sweater do go well together as textures.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (2:04 PM) :

Love the contrast in textures.

Anonymous JDB said ... (4:07 PM) :

Full of attitude. Love it

Blogger Amy said ... (5:02 PM) :

Great dress! I really like that the pockets don't alter the dresses shape.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:44 PM) :

That's an awesome dress, and she wears it so well, like it's made for her. The pictures are amazing. Your blog is a piece of art, by the way.

Feathers on anything will always win me over!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 PM) :

love the dress and the whole look works. very balenciaga circa 2001

Anonymous Holly said ... (10:24 PM) :

She is darling...I love her look, now there's a girl with style!

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (12:23 AM) :

I love that she looks so great in her whimsical way wile appearing to be on my side (the far far side) of 20.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:32 AM) :

i find it funny that people still react to things like 'bags and shoes not matching'. A black bag would have been too heavy for this outfit i find, but the black shoes just give her the right standing.

Same for "blue and black dont match". I like the combination a lot, because it is a subtle way to loosen up the 'bat factor'. And black can look brownish or blueish or greenish, depending on the light and the texture. A good way to play for the less daring of us.
