My personal choice... second photo. You caguht his self-confidence, chic and some kind of serenity. Of course the outfit is great!
I agree with the opinion about contrast between this two photos.

You take great photographs!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:47 PM) :

I call foul on the second man for the braided brown belt hanging limply to the side...

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:07 PM) :

These are great shots. Sart, I wish you would take up professional portrait photography. These guys are a wonderful contrast to one another; one exemplifies a contemporary, edgy androgynous style, the other traditional male elegance. Both are captured beautifully. :-)

Anonymous Thor Shannon said ... (3:14 PM) :

The top person is the most beautiful person I have ever seen.

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (3:47 PM) :

smile of the guy in the second photo makes me feel safe. cool.

Blogger MOD PAUL said ... (4:13 PM) :

Second shot is a classic London lad's business look. The best dressed 9 to 5ers out there. Almost never fussy but always great polish. Well done my son...

Blogger Romain said ... (4:25 PM) :

The black background is completely stunning. It looks really beautiful.

Black Portrait #1: I really dig his accessory as well as the fit of this blazer.

Anonymous Holly said ... (5:46 PM) :

Beautiful portraits...Top quality production!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:51 PM) :

they look like vampire-movie wardrobes, especially the first one.

Blogger alastair said ... (6:21 PM) :

oh man, the guy(?) in the first photo just looks so ill. nice clothes are great, but truly looking good comes from feeling good!

love the second photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:54 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:01 PM) :

wow, the guy in the second photo is GORGEOUS

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:21 PM) :

The guy on the second photo must have taken the wrong belt.

Anonymous An said ... (8:56 PM) :

I'm pretty sure the spyglass necklace in the first photo is from Urban Outfitters. I almost bought it!

Blogger The Modest Adonis said ... (9:21 PM) :

Well done sir, i knew you would get on there. Floral should be the street everyone walks down to get inspired! You are the epitome of true englishness.

See you on the other side...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:04 PM) :

the guy in the first photo is so beautiful! and wonderful and mysterious. ! your photographs lately are so incredible !

Anonymous runway reviews said ... (2:34 AM) :

Blogger V said ... (7:49 AM) :

wow. the first chap reminds me of lestat the vampire.

Blogger V said ... (7:50 AM) :

Guy in 2nd picture - can I have his number? LOL XD

Blogger The Red Velvet Shoe said ... (7:52 AM) :

The subject in the second photos is the reason men should wear suits. He looks wonderful, very Mad Men~ish, although I agree, the belt is a bit off.

Anonymous Rory McKee said ... (10:23 AM) :

It's not a spyglass from Urban Outfitters... it's a kaleidoscope from a market stall tied up with a couple of shoelaces...

And to clear any confusion, I'm male..!

haha.

Blogger Noelle + Kendall said ... (11:50 AM) :

Great shots!

the top photograph is beautiful, very haunting, and it one of your very best. congratulations.

Blogger M. Giannone said ... (3:44 PM) :

the man in the top photograph almost looks vampire-ish!! the look in his eyes, the porcelain white skin, the long hair, the color of his lips... he's very beautiful, and the portrait is very well-done, Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 PM) :

First guy with long hair is beautiful. I saw the Hedi Slimane fotos of him too. Another fantastic and atmospheric foto.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:54 AM) :

You find the most interesting subjects (meaning top most shot). They are so wonderfully chic and androgynous looking.
:)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 AM) :

the 1st picture looks like a model rickowens would use or maybe a jil sander model

Blogger jonzak said ... (11:52 AM) :

Great shots. I heart that plaid suit in the latter. Parfait

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:21 PM) :

Looking very chic, Jo!

(Second picture)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 PM) :

the top is a boy, he is beautiful in real life also i see him a lot, so sweet.

Blogger novayorker said ... (10:11 PM) :

reminds me of mad men.

well, minus the iphone of course.

Anonymous m.edwin said ... (2:05 AM) :

this second shot is gorgeous, with that transition from the lighter, metallic surface at upper right down to the deep shadow at lower left. ensemble, eh; shot as a whole, nice.

Anonymous ray said ... (10:08 AM) :

second photo is great! he stands out even in what people may consider ordinary clothes. this is in direct contrast to the first fellow, who is straight up posing and obviously uncomfortable with the part he chose to play/perform.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 PM) :

As Richard Meinertzhagen claimed to have thought on meeting T.E. Lawrence, "Boy or girl?"

Anonymous David said ... (3:13 AM) :

In contrast to most, the belt on the fellow in the lower picture was a joy for me. That single detail took a serviceable look to something outrageous and wonderful. Of course the success of the look would be dependent on where he's taking it i.e;

going out- YES
casual/creative office- YES
more formal office- NO

Honestly my favourite thing about men's style is the way a tiny little detail can change the overall impact of the look.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:51 AM) :

Rory!! also on thesartorialist! xxx

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:09 PM) :

I love this picture. You can tell the pose is very natural for this chap and the composition has a rich look to it

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 PM) :

in several of the september photos on this blog, i noticed that the PDA/blackberry/iphone is becoming a contextualizing object that speaks to the decade referenced in the photo... much like in the past, a cigarrette/cigar or a newspaper would have been

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:23 AM) :

you can find the second man at Paul Smith Floral st!

Anonymous ronan said ... (10:11 AM) :

i met the first guy, in a club in london, told him he looked like michael pitt only less successful (oops) he took it as well as one could. lol.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:54 AM) :

The young man in the first photo is absolutely compelling. He is both extemely handsome and his sense of style is impeccable. This is an excellent photograph.
