Is this the same guy referred to as "On The Street - Perfect"?
Great photo. The handle of his bag is awesome. It's in tatters.
Doug!
He is like the father christmas of Ralph Lauren...I work in the Bleecker Street boutiques and his store visits are SO eagerly anticipated. He's truly a legend in the vintage world..brilliant at what he does.
my vintage military watch article was inspired by the man himself:

I love this man, and all of the photographs you have taken of him, Scott!
He always makes me smile...
...he sort of looks like the lost member of Coldplay in this outfit.
I betcha Coldplay would be a better band if he was indeed a lost member ;)
Always love a man in uniform!
It's Ernest Hemingway's kooky cousin twice removed!

I love how happy he looks, it puts a smile on my face. And the jacket... that's gold.
Why the blazer of course!
Yes yes yes yes yes
Great photo! Love his attitude and jacket.
Doug is the BEST! the nicest man and such a visionary!!!
I love how his personality is what makes this. I also love the peace sign. :P He's wearing the clothes, they aren't wearing him.
completely agree with the Hemingway observation.. I'd love to see what kind of bag/satchel/murse he's got. Or rather, what's IN in...
He does look like a sailor. That was my first thought before I opened the comments. He looks like some captain of a boat. haha. He is cool and confident, like he came outta some old novel!

Now you're having fun!! And so do we! Thanks for all the diverse and wonderful photography!
He looks like a sailor.. or a pirate!
Love the jacket :)
Goodle x
I like the finer details, the scrappy bag strap, the sliver cuff and ring, speaking ho bo sophistication
amazing smile :) its hard to be genuinely that happy

I love seeing someone with style completely their own who's not one of the usual 20-somethings. Good style doesn't have an expiration date, and this man proves it! Love his smile too. He must be great to work with... lucky Lauren staff!
I know he's really a nice guy, but I can't help cracking up at Wikifashion's comment.
Talk about exuberant!!! He has what the whole world needs...LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
LOVE IT!! He has an air of happiness surounding him!
the best dude ever, so happy every time i see his pictures.
I have a jacket just like that , but he is a higher rank than myself. After seeing this pic I pulled it out to make sure it still fits (and it does) .....as always, I thank you for the inspiration
yeah like a crazy sailor!
Love the coolness and the jacket of course!
Doug's a genius.
Killer smile!
would love to meet this interesting happy man when i'll be working in show in NYC!

Fantastic - his happiness is contagious - and I love the contrast between that lush jacket and the hand-made quality of the leather strap across his body.
This photo made my morning. I love his style ^_^ It's so much fun. And he's so happy. I can't help but smile :)
great contrast - string bag, brass buttons.
he really looks like a real happy sailor, lost in the city since 2 or 3 days, without a wink!
Anyway, his jacket is stunning and I really like the strap of his bag.........
Kudos for the photograph and bonus points for the gentleman's age and countenance. Other than that, one makes his/her own fashion.
Greetings from London.
Ahoy, me hearties... Yarrr... I be scrapin' the bottom of me barrel for me last doubloons. The lass at RL charg'd me four pieces for the jacket but I got three left in me pocket. Shiver me timbers... Yarrr... Now I be looking like a gentleman o' fortune and right scallywag fit for swashbucklin' ye sprogs on the high seas. YARRRR!!!

I want ralph lauren and martha stewart to design my life.
The stuff you can get away with when your old and bearded!
Now this guy I like, not to mention his jacket and (?)bandana!
It's always a delight to see this gentleman. His light really shines doesn't it ?
now this is an interesting outfit. he looks fantastic. happy, comfortable and different.
he's exactly what the recently featured "try hards" are hoping to be.
I'm not going to lie...I never seem to understand the man who seems slightly unkempt hygienically and yet dresses so well. Someone solve the mystery for me?
Oh, this is wonderful!
I wonder what this fabulously dressed man does all day? He clearly loves it, whatever he is. Such joy!
His double breasted blazer is perfect.
i love people who actually wear their clothing and let it become a part of them. i get so tired of looking at near perfect specimins of human kind in ads. i love seeing what real people do and it inspires me to continue to make my wardrobe a reflection of my personal story.
He looks like a pirate, but has a great demeanor!
Divine - it doesn't get better than this!
My girlfriend says this is how I will look in 30years. She doesn't realise it is more like 20.
This is the RL chap? He is front and centre at the Spring 2010 RL show. Kind of blended in as well.
I really love Doug's look. He always is so inspiring... I also like that his name is also Doug. Obviouley he knows whats up.... Wonderful photograph, refreshing and honest. Good work.

soon you´ll have a whole chapter of photos of this very stylish gentleman, who i´m sure has a few great stories to tell!
Is that bag a billum from Papua New Guinea?
Luckely, I have exactly the same jacket, the brand is Comme Ca de Halles Paris:) Good luck finding it since my mother bought it in paris 20 years ago:P
one of my favorite looks I've EVER seen on here! love him
He looks like a real Most Interesting Man in the World.
Love those jackets... Where can I get them???
does anyone else think of captain shotover from heartbreak house (george bernard shaw)?
style style style now he's an individual. getting tired of so many people dressing alike.
A look that certainly carries a story behind, great!
Wow, I absolutely love everything about this man.
Fun. I think one of the things missing sometimes from those who go to fashion week is the pure joy of really just putting things together, and not be so self conscious. After all, that's the epitome of style, isn't it?
Balmain's muse?
after weeks adrift on the open sea, the captain is finally rescued.
All of us here at Ralph Lauren are so glad to have such a talented and amazing man on out team! Doug is an icon!
From what corner of our great nation would such a patriotic muse call "home"?
I feel that the world's a better place just looking at his smile!
Best on the planet!!!!
