Comments on "On the Street....Slim Sleeve, Florence"
I agree with you. These days, most clothing off the rack is cut to fit most people, and therefore it is a bit too roomy. I have found an easy alternative in buying vintage shirts at thrift stores, from the days when clothes were cut to fit. I do like these examples you have picked- it pays to have one jacket tailored rather than have 5 that are roomy everywhere! Jorge from WPB
Perfect Fits!... love it so much

Very much agree. Nice spot Scott!
i im in love with the color palette and the first guys outfit is incredible. everything is perfection
Love the pics. Especially the second one. Everything about that outfit looks great to me. I need to get a pair of shoes like that.
i wish my bf dressed like that

brown gents shoes are always nice. and compliments for the dress.
The slim cut looks great! More guys should wear their jackets this way. I think it's much more flattering. I also love the hat in teh first picture and the shoes in the second! And I agree - you can't go wrong with navy, tan and brown!
I'm a fan of the slim sleeve that gently flares at the wrist.
Great pictures.
i really like those looks..
especially the first and his shirt
True, true. But more than the outfits I love the hair in the second picture. Gorgeous! I think I'm in love.
Where would a young man with slender arms and a small frame find such a jacket? A tailor wouldn't slim the arms would they...?
Yes, yes, yes.
And, finally guys not wearing sox the way you're supposed to not wear sox. If you know what I mean.
Dear Sartorialist,
These cuffed pants do look great. What do you think of the on 5'6'' mid built men?
Cheers!
I'm 6'6" and anything generic that fits in length, you could pass a watermelon through the sleeves.
like the pics...
the first guy is great in his casual elegance,- maybe i should go to Florence to seek for job.. too many well dressed people you find there....
and the second is great in his choice to coordinate the colours - socks to match the BLAZER, not the shoes nor panths - otherwise it would be really DULL! love his "Julian Lennon" look!
I like the way the guy in the first pic is wearing the colors better. Seen so much khaki pants and navy blazer so its nice to see it switched up a bit. Something about his look reminds me of Dries Van Noten (print shirt maybe).
I love how the colors in the outfit of the man in the hat echo the stone wall background.
To be honest i never saw jacket sleeves like that
or i never pay attention to that
what i know now, that i will look for something like that
Merci encore une fois Scott.

Thats what I love about European fit. It gives the wearer such ownership
i adore this color combination
Not a big hat lover, but this man pulls it off right down to the peppered scruffy beard. I love the fact that the jackets cuffs have but one button. I could do without the highwaters, but in showing off his tan legs and the sockless and wonderfully worn shoes I will forgive him.
The second picture I am just drawn to the shoes. The ones the main focused man is wearing but more so the regular jeans with the sockless cordovan penny loafers. The colors look great.
I love the why they do shoes and no socks!
no, no and NO
the man with hat is terrible ¡¡vulgar!!
great pant proportions
The first outfit is very good! I love his hat!
great colour composition on guy 2.
like the way the socks and shoes go together.
I should have said first =(
LOL. Jorge from WPB
The rolled up pants and sockless brogues is rather overdone. It's been from the beginning of the trend very contrived. Although the jeans and penny loafer guy seems more natural and nonchalant.
No socks with the cool shoes, excellent.
Nice to see the prep sensibility with a bit of panache.
The leather and buck wing tips are cool and the hidden laces are a nice touch of personal style.
gladman
Love the slim sleeves. Along with slimmer cut trousers, I hope it's a trend that will catch on with American men.
I love love love those brown oxfords.
I agree with Patrick from a few posts above. A slim sleeve which flares a bit around the wrist allows for better cuff cleavage ;)
A fitted jacket always looks better. The color combinations and pattern accents are great on both men.
both those jackets might be women cuts though...but it does look good.
perfect palette of colors and outfit in second pic
belisimo !!
ciao
Where can you get jackets like that?
The Oxfords are great. A classic shoe as it´s best.
Bit the shoes in the first shot are great, too. And the hat. So cool. Both outfits are stylish and well organized from the head till to foot!
Blog it >> http://fashionmeetscologne.blogspot.com/
i love...i mean i really love the shoes of the man in the first photo...so cool!!
sartorialist...when are u coming to barcelona? pleeeez....
The man in the 2nd picture might have skinny wrists, but he's got big fat feet.
He should pull those laces tight.
A typical japanese fashion-consious bloke. This kind of style can be found in Tokyo, Beams International.
I wonder if this guy is a buyer?
Anyone know what kind of watch the second man is wearing?
Fine attention to detail, and the simplicity between few the colours is perfect.
Those shoes in the first picture really are to die for! And I agree that the story of navy and tan will never get tired.
Totally agree, we need more slim sleeve jackets. Love the suede/leather shoes on the second picture, always a nice texture mixture.
I'm not commenting until Zuccotto gets here. I'm not taking chances.

I will guess about watch,is a simple vintage watch, maybe his grandfather watchs,(Cartier?);but i have one doubt about socks,i dont like the first man using this shoes without socks, but i really loveD the feet of third man without socks, who can explain me why?
i love the navy/tan/brown thing. awesome. the first guy looks great! love the jacket and shoes so much!!
Hair + glasses on #2 is pretty fantastic. Like the slim watch, as well--unexpected.
http://songoftheexile.blogspot.com
Yay to the beautiful man #2 (who looks like a Japanese Johnny Depp) for wearing socks. But I would like to see something more exciting, lighter weight, and in a lighter color, brown tones.
Re: slim sleeves - the slimmer the better.
This get-up is really cool...
Might be perfectly fits for all!

the upper guy is super hot!
I love looking at your photos - and I love it even more when you comment on them yourself!
I love the socks and shoes. So simple, yet so snazzy.
bit expected, no?
Anyone know whose brown oxfords are in the second photo? I've been looking for something like that for a long time. Advice?
Love the bearded chap in #1, the colours works beautifully together and the pendant necklace gives a fine casual finishing touch.
(Shoes with no socks though? Hope he's carrying some plasters with him...)
PLEASE, give me an adresse to find a jacket like that!!
This week, I've just threw 3 jackets cause I don't like them for their cut, so loose, exactely the same.
So no jacket for the moment.

I agree with you. I love slim fit.
LOVE STYLE. LOVE THEM .... GORGEOUS LOOKS..

CHICMUSE

italian men have some of the world's amazing outfits, particularly their shoes. the top photo is fabulously mediterranean chic.
onpinkavenue.blogspot.com
why do I always find a bright, crisp, navy appealing on a male figure? These pics wonderfully represent the ideal "navy". I want to see ideal navy on women through your eyes. I think it is done, but not enough.
OMGoodness yes!!! Sart, I feel like you are the only person in the world who understands me hahahah! Long live the slim sleeve! Or death to fat wrists!
-AM
The fit is key and you are absolutely right about the sleeves! Wonderful photos!

any experienced tailor can do that... within one size it's not a big deal..
if you are around, i can do it for you!
the second guy has prettier hair than me. or rather the hair i am working so hard to have.
LOVE these looks! Navy and Tan on a guy ... with brown leather ... might just be my favorite. Fabulous.
I am wondering what kind of shoes the guy with the jeans is wearing, I love those classic penny loafers!!!!
Any body have any clue???
this outfits are great, and I love to convine browns and blues, I have seen similar things, on a pretty cool site called mypalma.blogspot.com to see more fashion stuff.
I am soooo attracted to guys that look/dress like this.. YUM.
Though I think the slim fit stuff looks OK, but honestly if you wear these italian styles with slim cut jackets and no vent, it is like wearing a straight jacket.
The first guy is Reinhart Plank, designer of the eponyous brand.
I want to see the guy next to him. I like his shoes. Please do khaki jacket montage. It seems all on NY men are going the Blue jacket/white pant trend. We need to mix it up.
Beautiful!!!
His long hair with the tailored outfit and glasses makes my heart flutter. What a sexy nerd.
i'll have to agree there. it's near impossible to find well fitting clothes in the states…. anyway, the jackets and the shoes look great.
anybody knows who makes those shoes, the one the guy with the hat?
What really caught my eye here was the madras tie he's wearing. Blends in perfectly.
to dream of killing someone for their shoes isn't illegal, right?
they guys are very chic!
the bottom gentleman is my favorite. :)
i adore european fashion so much. why can't more urban americans dress just as classy?
I agree with morgan, that tie just fits perfectly.
That guys outfit is perfect..the distance of his cuffs and hems and lengths just balance out!
I do love the shirt that he is wearing on the first picture. Do anyone know where it's from?
You simply cant hate how European men dress. Its too awesome to be true. I wish I could wear those outfit in sunny Singapore.
Next life, I´ll be born in Florence!
Top photo- sexy.
totally inspired to dress like that right now
http://forwhomthebeltolls.blogspot.com
His watch and shoes make the outfit personal and outstanding.
Does anyone know what kind of pants the first guy is wearing? Or where I can get a pair very similar?
i love shoes without socks but for me is quite painful, even flip flop!
Gabriele
The first pic is adorable. I want his sense of style and his phone number as well ;)
Love the shoes. Love the current fad of oxfords, one tone, two tone. mmmm
i am completely and positively in love with the top photo(mostly the man and his ability to dress himself)but yes...j'adore très beaucoup
I think the first guy may be Reinhard Plank - shoe & hatmaker extraordinaire... I took a pic of him myself recently for an assignment - he's very stylish and lives in Florence...
Not sure If I like the lack of socks. There seems to be a few men with no socks in Florence.
Waow, stunning, I really love his style ! I've found your blog today and I think I'll spend my whole day to discover it entirely (instead of studying), because it is just AMAZING here ! Thank you for sharing your work !
well, what i've noticed was the beautiful hair of the cheenky guy. wish mine was as nice as his... - rei (theanne69@yahoo.com):)
Slim jacket sleeves with brown get shoes is a perfect outfit.
