On the Street....Greene St., New York City

It has been so hot in NYC that it is actually refreshing to see a young lady in anything besides denim cutoff shorts.

first!! i love the colours on her. to me, the shoes do not complement the dress though. wouldnt girls naturally wear dresses when it is hot?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

Just lovely! The shoes are the nicest sandals I´ve seen this summer.

Anonymous Emma said ... (9:48 AM) :

How does that length of rope manage to be one of the coolest accesories ever?
This is a lovely look- it's simple, but she's so young and slight and pretty that she doesn't need anything lavish.
Also, her bag is great.

Blogger authentic blogger said ... (9:50 AM) :

love the layered effect! this screams spring for me back in South Africa currently stuck in a transition from Winter to Spring. Ooh and those sunglasses.. Ooh lala. I like

It definitely gets tiring seeing women always in denim shorts during the summer. It's nice to see ladies that wear dresses. Plus, this one looks fabulous! I love the dress. It's such a nice outfit for dog walking!

Blogger Lance Miller said ... (9:53 AM) :

Wow. That must be one strong dog. Take a look at that leash! I've seen ships tethered to shore with less :-)

She is gorgeous, and I love her dog:)

With those legs, it doesn't matter! I love that her canine companion is long and lean too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:07 AM) :

yes she looks great and rope is cool. But i really don't think this type breed needs a pin stabbing choaker?

Blogger Singapore Short Stories said ... (10:08 AM) :

Great photo!

Anonymous Katy McDevitt said ... (10:10 AM) :

Fantastic colours in that dress. And the rope leash for the dog is delish.

Blogger JouJou Loves You said ... (10:16 AM) :

Perfect summer dress!!! I want it!!!! Goes great with her brunette hair. She looks rather refreshing. Have to agree with the denim cutoff shorts....nice change to see a feminine dress.

Blogger RJ said ... (10:19 AM) :

She looks GREAT! But of course...

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (10:20 AM) :

You have to give some credit to the YSL folks, you keep seeing their handbags over and over, and it seems like people wear them to threads! Great look, I agree I like the rope for the dog!
Jorge from WPB

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:25 AM) :

LOOK AT THAT LEASH! IT IS FRICKIN' HOT AS HELL.

Blogger fashion & beauty now said ... (10:26 AM) :

A super cool outfit!

Blogger marie said ... (10:27 AM) :

i've hardly seen any nyc women in cutoff denim shorts during this heat wave. we're in dresses, skirts, anything light. i'm not sure where you are seeing all these denim shorts, but i don't care to be lumped in with them. give us some credit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:28 AM) :

This is why I love summer!

The dress is nice but it is the leash that really makes this outfit lift off!

(I wouldn't be so sure this lady doesn't have any denim shorts in her closet, though)

Blogger Laura Taylor said ... (10:29 AM) :

So refreshing i agree, she looks gorgeous, so nice to see a larger dog attached at the wrist unlike the normal teacup models!!!! xxx

Blogger Harriet Goodacre said ... (10:29 AM) :

I have that dress, a H&M bargain. Loving the rope leash, is it a dog or a ship?

Blogger miss sophie said ... (10:32 AM) :

i like how the dainty liberty-esque print of her frilly dress contrasts with the thick sailor's rope of the leash. very cool and summery contrast of textures.

Blogger Simo said ... (10:32 AM) :

Ouuuuuuh laaaaaa

i like everything vraiment everything

Blogger Stefan said ... (10:35 AM) :

PERFECTION. She is gorgeous! I love her dress, the bag, her smile, her legs and hair, she looks casual and lovely. THE DOG IS BEAUTIFUL, and what a great leash! ONE OF MY FAVS!

Blogger Ongward said ... (10:41 AM) :

wow! i HAVE this dress! i've worn it in the fall also with opaque tights, a mini hoodie, and slouchy boots. so cool to see someone wear it so well! -e

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:45 AM) :

Love the contrast between the ruffles of the dress and that heavy rope dog leash.

LOVE the dog and LOVE the purse!

Blogger katie said ... (10:46 AM) :

Try coming to London, every other girl's in ruffly floral dresses...

Blogger Pearl Westwood said ... (10:46 AM) :

I agree, its so nice to see someone looking stylish in the heat, especially to walk the dog! I like the colours of the dress and sandals together, really pops!

Anonymous Janina from Malaysia said ... (10:51 AM) :

Blogger Serg Riva said ... (11:00 AM) :

with a rope like that any sailor would take notice.

Blogger teresa said ... (11:03 AM) :

Fantastic shot. Gorgeous woman - she looks so healthy and fresh. Dress is fantastic on her and the shoes are so sexy too. Like a g-string for the foot.

I can't believe that women in NYC wear denim shorts (icky) when there are so many great dresses to wear - and dresses feel so much better in the heat! Ladies, get with it!!!!

Blogger MM said ... (11:05 AM) :

OMG, I have this dress!
I feel awesome now.
that the sartorialist would like my dress!
I wore it two days ago!

Blogger Ai Chan said ... (11:07 AM) :

To be honest...the dress doesn't do anything for me. It is the rope, in my opinion, that makes this cool.

Anonymous The Urban Flaneur said ... (11:11 AM) :

Very nioce dress and printing, I do like the colors. She's deffinitely "got" somehting...even the rope show that.

Anonymous Emily said ... (11:16 AM) :

I can't stand cutoff shorts in this kind of heat. I just want to wear dresses and nothing but. She does look gorgeous. Sigh. We can't all be so lucky in heat like this.

Blogger pink avenue said ... (11:20 AM) :

dresses are definitely the best hot-weather outfit. she looks simple yet stunning, and the dog is a fabulous accessory!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

those sandals are from gap! she looks fantastic.

Blogger The Couturier said ... (11:28 AM) :

very pretty girl. gorgeous dog. I love the juxtaposition of the huge nautical rope used as a leash and her expensive leather (YSL?) bag. Altogether just a great photograph.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:30 AM) :

If it wouldn´t look ridiculous I´d so walk my dog with a piece of rope.
As it is she (my dog) is a Jack Russel.
Rope would be rather unneccesary.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 AM) :

ahhhh. light and airy and perfecto.

Anonymous Amy said ... (11:33 AM) :

Dresses are so much cooler in hot weather, I couldn't bear wearing shorts! This girl's got the right idea.

Blogger Shaina said ... (11:39 AM) :

Word, Marie...lately I've been seeing nothing but little summer dresses and cute skirts. This woman is lovely, but her outfit is pretty much standard fare for most women in NYC when it's 95 degrees with 100% humidity! Anything else is just too clingy and hot.

Anonymous French Kid said ... (11:43 AM) :

Love the dog.

Blogger An (ex) alien in new york said ... (11:43 AM) :

More than her clothing I want her dog! How beautiful. But I'm pretty sure she's not gonna be parting with that one any time soon....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

i love how she use rope as dog leash

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:49 AM) :

I think this picture is brilliant. I love the dress and blue sandles (the pupp is adorable and all so stylish with his nautical leash :-)))). She looks very well put together. of course, having great legs helps!

Blogger L. said ... (11:53 AM) :

she reminds me of heather from america's next top model so much! is it her??

And i'm really loving her overall look, it's great for summer and dog walking

Blogger Cristi Silva said ... (11:57 AM) :

I love the tennis-golf tan line on her feet :) That is the only original comment i can add

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

it's great to see a ridgeback in a fashion blog! They are quite elegant--a permanent companion and accessory.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:05 PM) :

My favorite part about this photo is the dogs leash -- it is so interesting to me. In a way, it completes her look/is part of her look. Is that okay to say?

Blogger Ashley said ... (12:05 PM) :

Amen!!! I am so sick of every fashion blog showing cut off denim jeans with the pockets hanging out {because they are crotch length.} It's not chic! In fact, it's sort of too much information.

Perhaps people will listen to you. You have some pull around these parts!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:18 PM) :

beautiful dog, what kind of dog is it?

Blogger S. C. said ... (1:22 PM) :

funny thing, the dress would definitely be cooler than jean shorts. beautiful too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:41 PM) :

well, she looks lovely and the colors suit her... yet, i've seen just as many girls wearing this multi-tiered floral dress as denim cut-off shorts. to me, the look is pretty but uninteresting.

the best part for me is the dog and his leash!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:45 PM) :

What NYC women wear denim cutoffs? Dresses and skirts rule these sweaty streets, as they should, and this is an exquisite example of that.

Blogger Erin said ... (1:52 PM) :

I have that dress, too! It was like 20 bucks at H&M. What a steal!

Blogger Amy said ... (1:59 PM) :

Anonymous Puna said ... (2:34 PM) :

Look at those legs and the legs on that dog too!

Anonymous Martin said ... (2:35 PM) :

What a gorgeous creature! But it looks as she might be difficult to manage. Look at those long legs made for running, the pent up energy, the elegant frame and taut musculature. High maintenance for sure.

Outfit's nothing to write home about, but I like these sorts of photographs where your attention's drawn to other things besides the clothes. Echoing everyone else in saying the young woman is beautiful. What really makes this photo for me is that wonderful dog's stance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 PM) :

Just did not like the color of shoes, if the orange would look far more harmonious.

Blogger big said ... (3:00 PM) :

I love the leash. just wish she would have used a different collar. the metal one she's using digs into the dog's neck. :S

Anonymous samantha said ... (3:02 PM) :

I love her dog's LEASH. What a great accessory and it really completes the look. I love her sandals and the dog as well. Not a huge fan of her dress though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 PM) :

It helps that she's gorgeous, with a glowing tan and fantastic legs... a knockout. The rope is a very cool touch as well - she means business!

Extra points for not having any obvious tattoos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

The big rope and the nice handbag make her stand out a bit more

Anonymous jbozak said ... (4:17 PM) :

You've captured a great moment. Her smile is infectious, she's beautiful, her hair is kickass, and the bid 'ol rope is such a great stylish leash. Love her sandals.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:24 PM) :

She's very pretty and the dress is lovely.
But I disagree, there are many women wearing dresses and skirts this summer. Actually, I don't see denim shorts very often (unless we're talking about teenagers here) and don't understand why anyone would want to wear them in this heat and humidity...

Gorgeous shot. Simple sophistication. But it's all about her smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 PM) :

this pic is so refreshing! and I love the leash!! and for those of ya'll who are against the pinch collar..they are a must for large breed dogs and they aren't cruel at all. Pinch collars are actually the best collar/harness/anything you can use because they apply an even pressure around the neck. Still don't think so? try one on yourself. yes, I'm serious.

And, yet, she's so beautiful, she transcends them. Gorgeous girl: great skin, legs, hair....

I don't get 'the beast in tow' look, though. Completely contradicts all the other details.

If greek statues was made these days, this one would be a perfect subjet

Well, actually...the best 'fashion' bit in this picture is the rope she uses for her dog instead of just a thin leash...so original. If I ever get a dog, I'm gonna use a rope too. Thanks for posting this pic on the blog. Very inspiring.

I love her dress! and the dog is so cute!
un saludo

I'm a NYer and I have to add the above comments and say that I am NOT seeing a lot of denim cutoffs on the streets this summer. I mostly see cheap, cute dresses like this one and sandals like those (they're not flip flops, but you see a lot of those too) but you don't normally see a beauty of a dog on a leash like that with a choke collar. NOT.CHIC.AT.ALL.

oh .... she's really hawt and chic,,,

dresses are always better. the sandals are perfect.

i'm really distracted by her lovely dog!! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 AM) :

they are both beautiful and both have lovely legs but that excessive rope might be better suited to a stockier dog. with such a slight dog it seems like overkill.

I'm in love.

Yeah, her sandals are from the Gap, I recognized them immediately. I have them in mustard yellow. They're suede and very comfy. Really wanted the cobalt blue ones but I'm sure they're all sold out now. :( Great pic, Sart!

lol—love how she has this huge rope for this harmless dog—reminds be of those pictures from S. Africa with those guys holding baboons and a hyena on a thick chain.

That's a great dress–like the colors a lot.
