On the Street.... Vintage Shirt, Florence

What a great way to make a 50 year old vintage shirt look so new and modern. So often vintage just screams VINTAGE! I think it is a real skill to integrate vintage into a look and keep the viewer guessing if it is a modern piece or very old. I think that is a subtle, but huge part of the success of Prada.

I adore vintage and wear it extensively. I don't think it takes skill to mix vintage and modern clothing- I just think it takes style. I agree that a huge part of Prada's success is the fine line she walks between vintage and modern.

Thanks doll,

Agree with you on Prada, so often what we see on their runways is so vintage-looking and then a few pieces make it to production, which paired with other basics, look great. My only request for vintage is that, if it touches your skin, it must be made of a natural fiber, like cotton, wool, or cashmere. I do like this look although I would not try it on myself. I think it is a great jacket. Call me a snob but whenever you are doing vintage you have to pair it with something very well made so you dont look like a hobo. Jorge from WPB

This is a look I adore, I love the colours of the shirt with his glasses. I agree totally with Jorge that you need to wear vintage wisely and with newer high end pieces, this is one reason I never like vintage bags as you really have to work the rest of the outfit, but if you do vintage clothes its mush easier to work with new accesssories. Another good reason to buy classic designer is that even the full on publicity pieces can be worn so they dont look dated. Ok I will stop writing an essay... x

It's a really great combination. The striped blazer tames the shirt a little, but the blue is exciting enough to make it all 'zing'!

Blogger junglesiren said ... (1:31 PM) :

One of the most entertaining of dressers. So stylish and comfortable and original. Yeah, a little vintage goes a long way when it's as playful as this.

But not all vintage screams out. Some pieces are subtle and don't require the necessary maneuverings to keep them tame and modern.

I'd love to rock this look (even though I'm a girl). i've got similar blazer and pants... the search for the perfect shirt begins.

Thanks, Sart. Love it.

NOTICE the "no-show" socks (they barely peek at the heel)... This is what it means to wear the proper socks when you want "that" look.
I remember a couple weeks ago, everyone discussing a gentleman's ridiculous white ankle socks.
THIS is how it's done!
