On the Street......Summer Chic, Florence

I love the jacket, shirt and tie combo - but for me it is really about the cool slim jeans.
It's so hard to find jeans that are slim, but not Cheap Monday slim.
I have to remember to ask this guy who makes those jeans.

I like most everything: men, better go in your closet and look for those Weejuns, because they are coming back big time! I think you are right about slim jeans, they do go better with a dressier outfit. Now... color sunglass frames- I once read an article that such sunglasses were to draw attention to your face, which in my humble book is a big no-no- that would be the only thing I would change here, some good ole black Wayfarers would be tons better. Great style and very beautiful dark blue colour- this Florentine man reminds me of Omar Sharif, the Egyptian actor, in his nonchalant elegance-- sprezzatura!

Try Dior Homme. Slim, but not too much, and keep their shape well after wear and wash. Not sure those are jeans he's wearing though.

I have the same problem with finding perfectly slim jeans- This man is really nice dressed.

Are you suuuure those are jeans? I agree with you on the fit. They just look too...blue. No texture to them...doesn't even look like they have a jean hem at the bottom...Are you sure those are jeans?!

Doesn't matter really. Dude typifies Florentine style. All your best dressed men have been sitting on or standing near this wall.

It is quite rare to see an older man with slim jeans.. and that's a pity, because it looks great!
This man is so elegant, so... "homme".
I also like the glasses and the watch: he know how to live in the 21st century and keep on going elegant in its own way....

'love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:54 AM) :

I agree about the jeans, this man clearly knows about the right cut. That said, I'm not wild about the colour of the wayfarers or the sporty watch, which (for me) doesn't go with the elegance of the look as a whole. Also, what it the white bit at the bottom of his tie?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:56 AM) :

i wonder if you d still find them as cool if you were based in italy, where (in cities as in the province)that style of man jeans is ruling man use of jeans (together with cheap monday slim but for other types of men) ... i find them cooler here, in your blog, where they are a-contextualised ...

Blogger jcstothers said ... (7:52 PM) :

Fantastic look; I totally agree about the jeans. They really push his look into one that is worthy of this blog.

Here in Japan, this type of sensible slim is the norm. While Scandinavian/ North American slim jeans hug the lower knee and ankle, Japanese slim jeans leave just a bit more room. I think it creates a nicer, more masculine silhouette. A few weeks ago I picked up a cheap pair from UniQlo to test-run the style. It's been a success.

This man proves that you can be fashionable at any age. Just because you're older doesn't mean you should resort to polo shirts tucked into khakis. Pictures like this makes me miss Europe and the mentality that fashion is essential. American men should take note and learn to dress like this!

I love that he pairs a light colored jacket with denim, so he's not too dressy. Very effortless. Tres chic!

Everything about him looks wonderful and yes.... effortless.

I've always hated "flared" jeans. I don't like super skinny jeans (well maybe on some very very thin women) this is the style I like and wear (mine are longer). My brother wore these jeans in the early 60's (before woodstock and hippies, his were Levi's) and I've always loved them. By the way, my brother in now pushing 60 and he still wears these jeans, he never once wavered over to flares. Gotta love that sort of confidence and style.

So for me this is perfect.

The hair is the lynchpin to this gentlemans look (lets not forget the perfectly trimmed stash). The hair makes him look distinguished while the outfit modern and chic. It mixes both worlds. However, being able to mix new and old is a gift not everyone is born w/. This gift is called "taste" and this gentleman has it.

Read my new book "THE ROAD TO AMERICA'S ECONOMIC MELTDOWN," it is a detail account of how this economic crisis was allowed to happen. It's better than Glen Beck's non-sense "Common Sense," and also makes more sense than Dick Morris' Scare tactic in "Catastrophe."

Here is on review form Barnes&Nobles site: "Everyone should read this book both conservatives and democrats, it says a lot. I really wish we all read it and understand what this author is telling us. Because he explains all and shows us why we need to take better care of one and other.

The book is not about the author, it is about the system of government that has developed in this country. And its cold attitude toward the poor and its unconditional support for the wealthy. Which are good relevant points.

The people on the left can learn alot here, if they pay attention and read it. This is a truthful book that hits home in many ways. It is 5 stars for its honesty, clairity and relevance.

This book challenges the senate to do a better job of regulating the economy and to provide better protections for the future generations of Americans to come.

I recommend it for Republicans and Democrats a like, for anyone who considers themselves an American.

And his jacket, shirt and pants are uber tailored and fitted. Which looks very uncomfortable and makes his head appear larger and out of proportion with his body.

And I will tell ya what fellas, you better have matchstick legs to wear those pants, otherwise good luck getting them on!!

try Spurr pipe jeans which are nearly as slim a cut as michael bastian trousers which these look to be similar to. Additionally, new they have a beautiful deep blue.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:26 PM) :

Great style!
I can recommend the M.samuel model from Filippa k. It is slim but not too slim. Something in between APC new standard and new cure.
The model is also slightly tapered and the waist quite high.
I have found the model to be the perfect fit! Also better than the aforementioned APC models!

I know some people have some reservations of shopping at the Gap (maybe because it's considered a mall store?), but they currently relaunched their denim and they have a new fit for men. Try the "Authentic" -it's a slim fitting jean for the trendier shopper. If you couldn't tell, I work there. I know I sound like a commercial, but I wear Gap jeans now because I get a discount, but because I think they're better than some premium brands I have owned.
