He looks so cool. And those shoes, are they really violet? Brilliant.

Blogger The Khaki Crusader said ... (9:30 AM) :

purple drivers/mocs are practically a euro staple in the past 2 years.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:34 AM) :

Something of Ruppert Everett...

Blogger Pronto. Calcei said ... (9:40 AM) :

great shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 AM) :

This is fantastic. Simple, cool, elegant. the flipped collar is great. I want the shoes!!!

Blogger kittenmasks said ... (9:47 AM) :

purple loafers? yes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

Even worse these shoes I have been looking for two seasons now and are either sold out or not bought buy retailers at all...grrr

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:54 AM) :

Comfortabe look but I believe the purple suede loafers have been overdone since last summer..

Blogger Guernican said ... (9:59 AM) :

Mauve velvet dock shoes might work for Dickie Greenleaf, but they're a bridge too far for me. Nice look, but one few could pull off even in Gatsby's time.

Anonymous Cassiopeia said ... (10:01 AM) :

He looks grate!

Blogger LivingGolden said ... (10:02 AM) :

I don't know why, but I just find it difficult to appreciate men in shorts above the knee. Cool shoes though.

Blogger Hannah said ... (10:09 AM) :

those shoes win me over. he could be homeless in a plastic bag and hed still have good style with those on!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

This guy looks good, but I don't find anything original in his attire. In Paris many people wear this--in my opinion--dull look.

I'm not a fan of the shoes. I love their color but the style is blah.

Blogger Rachel @ The Haute Notes said ... (10:10 AM) :

Those shoes are amazing. They truly make his outfit.

Anonymous D.tje said ... (10:13 AM) :

The purple driving mocs are becoming a terrible cliche in Europe. I am already sick of them. Good thing the Tod's version falls apart after 3 months of moderate wear. haha.

Blogger D.Y kiehl ann said ... (10:14 AM) :

Totally awesome shoes..

Blogger Mikelle Street said ... (10:19 AM) :

YOU ARE AT THE SHOWS? Is this the Couture shows?

Oh but he does look so comfortable.

Blogger Mod Paul said ... (10:32 AM) :

OK Homie needs one more button done. Trying way to hard...
The kick's are ok but the Prada colored Loafers from last S/S were way more swank.

Anonymous jbozak said ... (10:38 AM) :

Purple, Shmurple, I love the entire look. Nothing is overdone, when it's done right and from head to toe this gent has it correclt. The open shirt, the up collar, the pommade-looks. He's a clean machine.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:38 AM) :

Amazing!

Blogger diane said ... (10:39 AM) :

He reminds me a lot of Jude Law in The Talented Mr. Ripley. Very nice.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:48 AM) :

ooo ah ooo ah oooah glenn mcgrath!

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:53 AM) :

He looks fantastic, but the shirt, shorts, watch- even his demeanor and haircut- are more important (and more elegant) than the shoes. A great look.

Blogger James Taylor said ... (10:53 AM) :

I bought a pair of suede purple penny loafer driving moccasins yesterday for $38. A lot of people say they're passé in Europe but as the say in Italy, "lo stile è sempre di moda."

Plus as a huge Fiorentina fan I can't think of a more Florentine shoe! FORZA VIOLA!

PS: I can't believe LivingGolden can't appreciate men's shorts above the knee... isn't that what makes them shorts?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

They might be everywhere in Europe but I can't say no to anything purple! <3

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (11:02 AM) :

The purple Tods may be a cliche in other places, but not yet in Harlem...

Anonymous CK Dexter Haven said ... (11:02 AM) :

The purple shoes might have been stylish, but when everyone else is already doing it, it's too Copy Cat/"Hey, I'm in the club, too!"

The rest of the look is nice, but i wonder if, when he's standing, those shorts are too short for those legs....

Blogger Gary K. said ... (11:27 AM) :

A comfortable look, but nothing I can relate to, i.e., I'd never wear my shirt that open, shorts of any kind, or mauve shoes. I'm more interested in the overall effect of the photo as a whole, sort of a study in brown and white with this foreground guy providing some contrasting colors. The guy in back in the white shirt, white shoes, and tan slacks looks equally relaxed and comfortable in a more conservative outfit.

Blogger A Super Dilettante said ... (11:31 AM) :

EFFORTLESSLY Stylish!!

Blogger The Comet said ... (11:39 AM) :

there's really nothing like a purple car shoe.. divinity..

Blogger thierry said ... (11:50 AM) :

I bought a pair and regretted it instantly...actually fancy a pumpkin colour pair now or maybe duck egg blue

Blogger Bahrain Fashion said ... (11:53 AM) :

It's definitely European-luxe-chic. And super-laid-back for summer.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM) :

I want to wear those shoes... i don't have the kind of body to pull that look off but if i was that skinny i'd be wearing that period.

Blogger Miiicha said ... (2:44 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:52 PM) :

I really like the combination of shirt and shorts. He has an very clean and classy look to him. The purple shoes aren't very appealing to me though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:04 PM) :

Blogger BobKentNoVa said ... (11:15 PM) :

I wore the same thing on Saturday, except my driving mocs were black. My Midwestern roots will never let me make the leap to purple shoes.

Anonymous Bombshell Kitten said ... (11:18 PM) :

Very crisp and clean, with a welcome touch of color. Fab!

Blogger Agnes Hannervall said ... (4:52 PM) :

Oh elegant outfit! If you want to find purple moco loafers they're available at Zara.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:25 PM) :

Perhaps he is wearing the shoes ironically? I love the potential movement in this shot - where is that poised hand going...?

Blogger LuxuryObsessed.com said ... (7:02 PM) :

I need the shoes, hell, I want the whole outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:40 PM) :

he looks like he smells fantastic. but he's a little too old for shorty shorts. however, that pattern in a slightly longer, above-the-ankle cuffed "pajama bottom" would have been perfect, especially if you're blessed, as he is, with razor sharp shins and wrists, plus anti-gravity cheekbones. SO love the shoes and shirt very much.

Blogger LHFC said ... (5:33 AM) :

how is he real? he looks like a beautiful statue

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:39 AM) :

I think those are Messimo Dutti loafers if I'm not mistaken

Blogger Meagan! said ... (6:53 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:23 PM) :

Blogger Lochi Love said ... (11:55 PM) :

love this!

Blogger David C said ... (7:22 PM) :

This guy reminds me of Dicky Greenleaf. Rivera Chic. In fact, this is my favourite picture that I have ever seen on your blog. I am most inspired. Love his hair too. Would have top marks if it were not for his apparently shaved legs! Thank you for your excellent blog, Scott.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:58 PM) :

I could be wrong but those shorts look like they're from Club Monaco....

Anonymous Dot said ... (8:08 PM) :

Fabulous! It's not as perfect a composition as some of yours, but I love the bored woman behind him, and then the guy in the same pose, checking his blackberry.
Actually, counting his cloth man bag and the tiniest glimpse of his red phone to offset his purple suede Tod's ... I take that back. It's a brilliant composition.

Blogger tfy said ... (10:08 AM) :

love the violet

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:36 PM) :

I LOVE him and want to marry him!

Blogger just.a.train said ... (5:46 PM) :

Those shoes? Made of WIN.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:23 AM) :

He looks fine. Someone back there said she couldn't take a man seriously if he were to wear shorts above the knees. Sorry luv, but most shorts below the knees make a man look like a hip-hop wannabe hero and that's downright criminal behavior.

And further to the crime... I charge the whole colony with obtrusive nasality! No actually what I wanted to say is that moccasins like he's wearing are the only shoes in which a man should be seen sockless.
