Comments on "On the Street......S. Portland Street, Brooklyn"
Coolness.
love the red and purple.
I am having a senior recall memory..LOVE IT..especially the purple kicks (yeah, I'm going old school on you!)..
he's got great sneakers. what a fantastic colour!
must. find. those. shoes. anyone know what those are?!!
I love the red bike and the purple shoes!
This dude cuts my hair and is, hands down, one of the flyest guys I know.
Great attitude, and purple sneakers!!
the man knows how to dress for his body. love it.
and THANK YOU for not putting up labels, labels, labels. it is such a welcome change. those sprouse LV leggings had me worried...
I'm from London and this is how we dress - amazing he'd only get away with this in NY or LA. When we were in the South (ATL), most people had a stereotypical idea of what they thought Black Men should wear and immediately thought we were gay!
funky-rasta-street...I like the way the cherry red bike makes a statement with the clothing, especialy the accessories (beads and shoes).
i was scrolling down and thinking
what? what? what?
unitl i saw the sneakers - BOOM!and the perfect turn-up of the jeans and then i was like oooooooooohhhhhh.
I love the contrast between his toughness and serious face with the Jesus t-shirt and the colorful beads necklace...
his jeans are cut just right. not too skinny, not too wide. i also like to cuff that kind of thin dark denim just the same as he is wearing.
also, are his socks purple? cute.
awesome shoes
love those purple sport shoes, I love purple, nice attitude!!!!!
I love this one. The simplicity and clean look of his is just great, and the little details, like the ring and bracelt, set it off. Not to mention that look...
Wow. He is so hot.
Your blog is becoming less and less about clothes and more and more about your subjects' energy and their relationship to their environment (a relationship, of course, that clothes speak to.) I'm not complaining about that!
I love all the photos you've been taking in Fort Greene! It is one of my favorite little neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and it has always seemed like a unique yet approachable personal style is a requirement to live there.
the shoooes :)
I love that he has his jeans cuffed up ... the purple shoes look great, as well.
The Look...classic!
I love how you capture moments in the city. Absolutely delightful!
maybe it's the near-searing intensity of his gaze, but i'm surprised nobody has commented on this yet! the fit, the accessories, the bike, and the bright worn-in kicks just ooze a thoughtful, if laid-back confidence and self-possession.
i am absolutely LOVING the artful realness of these street style photos. :)
The SHOES!!!
http://www.nearstyle.blogspot.com
Nice!
love the pop of purple, very cool!
LOVE the t-shirt:)
effortless!
this is my boy for life, Robby!! repping for the BK crew. Im back in a few son!
Yeah other people's feet touch the ground when they're on their bike! I've been feeling a bit self conscious. ANYWAYS he looks fantastic!
Fort Green looks like a place to be at.
Such coolness of all the people in the series.
Comparable to my home town Venice in LA.
this guy knows how to have bling in a subtle way. the gold stays on the left hand next to the jesus print on the shirt.
What a MEGA babe.
He is so cool with those purple shoes
This is street wear at its best. Love the pop of purple, and the t-shirt is fly and beautiful-great cut.
So hip-hop. Sigh, I know this is beside the point but I find him so sexy.
A+
Love the shoes!!!
Love it! The jewelry!
About Time We see more of Brooklyn Sart... This guys shirt is from a store called THE Brooklyn Circus .....Which by far has some of the flyest dressed dudes ever!!!! Go Brooklyn
And he's pretty darn cute too which doesn't hurt.
What a great look - I neeeeed a necklace like that! Any Ideas?
love it!!!
PUMA CLYDES... top 5 sneakers of all time. Classic!
S
It's so classy NY hood style. lol. The shoes are the first thing to catch my eyes because they're kind of a purple color.
http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/
On top of everything, he is beautiful.
Jesus! Heheh. The fit of his clothes is perfect. Love the sneakers.
I love New York...
in love! where can i find him?
I'm loving the purple kicks!
This is one of my favorite styles on guys. Definitely loving the skinny jeans and bright shoes.
Purple sneakers? What purple sneakers? Oh, there they are. I must have been distracted by how DAMN HOT he is. Sigh.
love your appreciation in eclectic fashionable taste
<3 buttonsandbowsla.com
The fit of his clothe in indeed perfect.
His look is classic Brooklyn 1980-today, love the BK attitude and fit. His shirt is from a great little shop in Brooklyn named The Brooklyn Circus. They have a really great blog and a store in San Francisco. www.thebkcircus.com
What I like about this outfit are the different accessories that he is wearing. The two finger ring, necklace and bracelet really set off an otherwise basic outfit. I truly feel that the future of men's style is in accessories and detailing.
i love all your street fashion from NY it makes me miss living there so badly.
I love the purple shoes. Hopefully bicycles will never go out of style.
That's right around the corner from me! The weather's been so nice lately and you've captured some great images. Hope you enjoyed your stay!
What I really love about The Sartorialist is that you have a keen eye for diversity and style of all types . Its absolutely wonderful!
you see is not that hard to be cool, just be cool man!
This guy is one of the best barbers in Brooklyn and those purple Puma Clydes make me so jealous!!! Good stuff Robby!!!
nice purple shoes. the necklace is unnecessary
Love the Lanvin sneakers!
Haha are his socks purple? That's sick
This man is seriously gorgeous. The purple kicks are the icing...
those sneakers are wonderful
are those Puma Clydes? no matter, i love the colorway, the name ring very 80s hip-hop. the mongoose bike - also very 80s but the pegs are very trick rider.
loving the B-R-double O-K-L-Y-N!
Jesus+colorful shoes=well dressed? I don't get it.
love the color mix overall, if the bike had a plain red frame and his t-shirt was just a black basic v neck, it would be perfect but nonetheless, great shot, casual and spot on
Love his style but it's his BIKE I'm in love with !!
Yep, that t-shirt (and the jeans too if i'm not mistaken) are from my favorite shop in BK, The Brooklyn Circus. It's right in Boerum Hill on the corner of Nevins and Bergen...I've been waiting for you to catch wind of it. No one in New York City is doing what they're doing with style, and they're a really good bunch. If you stop by, ask for Ouigi aka The Bearded Man!
i've worked with them on some editorial stuff in the past...check 'em out

Real cool.
I love NY!!!!! What a unique place!!!
Those shoes are awesome - they almost soften the emotion of the image.
the satorialist does brooklyn.
very cool.
Love the purple shoes and the shirt
And the fact that his bike isnt a single speed fixed gear.
...and I like that his bike has pegs.
He is so my type. That stupid trick bike, ridiculous ironic T-shirt and the hipster purple shoes with that gorgeous face...Ugh.. I'm so in love.
I'm in love!
He look real CLEAN! Uhuh play w/it
the shoes are puma clyde from a couple of seasons ago
keep on branching out! your latest posts are so fresh!!
Do you think his conversation would be just as interesting as his cool?
always beautifull pix here...
you have a so " spring" blog : colorful, and who smell good lool
imane
now I know what kind of shoes I'm gonna buy for the summer! purple!
POP OF PURPLE. niiice. are those purple socks too? I love this shot, it's so great
He makes his statement with the sneakers and matching socks! Looks great and unexpected! Love the t-shirt too!
I never thought I'd see a BMX bike on the Sartorialist. Great shot!
I love rr's comment-- fort greene is my 'hood and that is exactly how I feel about it. These pics have been an amazing display and perfectly captures "personal style"-- they're great! And they make me miss my 'hood while I'm working overseas...
keep up the great work! I love that you capture the essence of the individual yet it somehow relates to the city, no matter where you're shooting...
The accessories make everything incredible. His socks! His socks are purple! Squeeeee!
Boy, this dude is hot.
Im really digging the outfit but i agree the shoes dont do it for me.
i've seen a lot of guys around my area that dress the way he does, the only difference and why i would give him props is that he matched his socks with the same color of his shoe.
I love those shoes!!!! I wear purple boots! Check them out at http://highlowaha218.blogspot.com
Interesting shot.
I love how the look on his face seems to show he doesn't really want his photo taken and how his phone is still held casually in his hand. Love how his jeans are cuffed.
www.notavailablesorry.blogspot.com
I'm new - check me out :D
Jesus saves!
Lil' Man.
I'm pretty sure those shoes are "The Hundreds" a streetware company out of LA
Nice bicycle shot!
Love the purple tennies...
Nice. I'm living vicariously through this dude right now, because, I, like many of you, would love to be featured on this blog and have people complimenting/swooning over me. I happen to recognize him--he works at a well known babershop in the immediate vicinity of this photo. I won't give the name, but he'd be easy to find, so ladies, or men (i'm not presumptuous), have at him!!
This guys got amazing style. Great photo!
I'm pretty sure the purple shoes are the HUF x DVS Doughboy.
http://hypebeast.com/2009/01/huf-x-dvs-doughboy-collection/
There is no style like Brooklyn style!
shoes are puma clyde purple ... I'm a big puma fan , can't go wrong
Shoes are awesome, the rest I can live without. I am very annoyed by the rolled up leg. Nice bike.
I'm really not a fan of the printed shirt, but everything waist down is perfect. This man knows how to dress. The kicks are obviously great, but he has the socks to match, and is showing them off beautifully with the cuff and the bike as a real fashion accessory.
Shoes ain't puma....they look more like low blazer sb, but they're not...saw those in paris and i can tell you they ain't clydes...clydes are thinner
I'd like his style
this is...D'Angelo! i could swear this is D'Angelo!!!
notsoyellow.blogspot.com
totally unexpected! i love it!
Good style
