On the Street......Nicole, Berlin
I'm in Berlin for the next two days between the men's shows in Milan and Paris. As you can tell I have been jumping around a lot lately. You will soon be seeing lots of images from Pitti, Milan, Berlin, Paris, Venice, and finally back to Sao Paulo. I kind of love mixing up the images from these cities. It was very warm in Florence and very cool here in Berlin which leads to a really great contrast in Summer looks - it's difficult for me to pack clothes for a trip like this!

I love her parenthetical stance (assuming one can be compared to punctuation.) That cigarette is certainly forgiven by the addition of those white shoes which are surely there in defiance of all of that black.

Unlucky that it was cold. I was in Berlin beginning of the month and it was really hot. And Liz, no it's normally not cold in Berlin in summer - rather pretty hot (and freezing cold in winter. Continental climate, you know...)

The jacket is a bit bulky, but the contrast between the shoes and the rest of the outfit is fabulous!
she is stunning... yet after your fort greene photos and the sheer fact that it is SUMMER, i have been dying to see some warmth, some vivacity, some happiness? she looks so pale.. and unhealthy. that cigarette, while it may 'complete her entire look' is horrid! plus, it is so hot that massive sweater is makin me sweat!! the girl is a beauty but she needs some sun!

Shoes are great, but I just find tight leggings/pants so ugly. Can't help it, Often the leg looks too fat. I try to think of the 18th Century to get a feel for the look of tight pants, and that helps, but it still doesn't quite work. And I love oversized tops, so what is my problem? Better with boots, but still, can't get used to it. And so many young people are wearing that now.

Beautiful girl and great coat, but the shoes look kind of like nurse shoes to me. I think that her pose may make the shoes look chunkier because you can see part of her left foot and it blends in with her right foot.

Having lived in the states I understand it's quite against the grain over there and generally frowned upon - just like it is here nowadays, but people won't make a piece of art or someone's look or whatnot about nothing but the cigarette. You guys are being a tad over the top on that whole subject; look at what's essential for the shot. It's not the "fag," it's the whole ensemble, the clothes, the expression. Letting yourself be detracted by that kind of detail doesn't give you a large degree of credibility in judging a work as a whole --- just sayin'
truth be told, she looks wonderful. but if 9999 out of 10000 of us tried to pull off the white shoes, we'd look unbelievably dorky. it's just not a look that most of us could emulate.

I disagree with Yacoub, it's time to deglamorize cigarettes. I live in Europe and almost all very young people are still smoking, it's some kind of rebellion, the smoke frontier, the return to the glam smoking past of the 1940's or 60's. It's really time to find a new aesthetic for a new time, don't you think? It's just old esthetics, old habits, like tan skin. And it is so gross to kiss somebody who smokes!! and to smell their hair and clothes.
