On the Street......Waiting for Summer, Paris
I was reviewing my archives yesterday to look for ideas on what I wanted to wear this Spring/Summer. I found this shot of my friend Garth wearing a brown cotton windbreaker, I love the shot and realized I hadn't posted it last Summer (so here it is!).
I love the shape of the jacket, but even more I love the idea of wearing brown this Summer. That shade of brown against tanned skin, and layered with sun-faded shades of pink or purple or even orange could be very cool. I love when I can use my own photos in such a practical way.

effortless and beautiful
It's the brown, cornflower blue and reddy tanned skin that does it for me.
YES!!
Garth is so well in brown but what a smille!!
I love brown year round, I have even started wearing it with white, and looks so fresh together!
He looks so cute.
i am not sure about his style...
XXX

Super outfit!!!
Great idea for the summer!!
I will love to see my husband with a windbreaker like this one
I wish I had such a store of fashion conscious people to flick through when I was feeling uninspired.
It's like you have your own personal magazine.
Browns are delicious in summer.

What's the make of the windbreaker?
I mostly like the sunglasses, they are great! but maybe the best things is his smile, makes me smile to.
I like the jacket too, the shape is "comfotably sexy".
I'm not s 'brown', don't think it suits me much, but mixing it with pink, orange, purple, or blue (like in the photo) would look great.
adorable!
i just have one word, impeccable style. love the shades.
Yes, I second on this hunch! ...Particularly since I just unpacked summer clothes and realized I have three brown sundresses, all of which I adore!
great idea! I love this!
The word Fresh comes to mind.
I love this look and you're right Sart... this lovely jacket paired with a muted (or faded) color is beautiful.
I dig his shades too.
i like the windbreaker, especially with the watch, it gives it a smarter, 'city' feel. i love men in pink, pale purple or lavender (Hamish Bowles in a lavender jacket you posted last year i think??)and you're right, those colours look great with a tan. Garth doesn't need to worry about a tan, he has a wonderful smile instead!
It doesn't hurt that Garth is pretty easy on the eye either!
I think the minimalist scarf is a great addition too. it's a neutral pop...the color is subtle and the earth tones stand out.
an ostrich ready to take flight.. ravishing!

I miss New York looks
i can say that ive used your photos to inspire my personal design style. thank you.
this is what i've learned:
layers are good
t-shirts work w/great jeans
an old shoe is not a bad shoe as long as it has history
confidence is key!
Yes, brown is a great color - has a very (teddy-)bear cozy & trustworthy feeling to it :)
You're not the only one who uses your photos in a practical way... not at all!! Of course =)
I love the idea of the pink, purple and orange. ;-)
Nice shoot.
Best!
Jose
Love the look. Love the smile. A great example of the sort of person one sees on the street in Paris who inspires you quietly for weeks after. I only wish I could be bold enough to strike up a conversation with Garth if I ever ran into him on the rue.
Yes, super agree!!!! I love it!!!
Perfectly relaxed.

In a one word "Sweet".
that's funny....you look through your photos for inspiration.....i look through your photos for inspiration as well.....i absolutely LOVE your photos and am always so excited to see your new shots.....
smart that he kept all the internals a similar palette, allowing the focus on the accessories on jacket without being too cluttered.
true, so true. brown is trust and comfort! so funny. but it works. he looks like a good man
thankx for the advices...
i'll try it out too.
Funny that you should comment on brown. I just purchased a cettu hobo bag in brown for my summer trip ... in addition, I took an older brown hobo to the leather repair store for some TLC ... I am all about brown accessories for the summer ... It is the reddish brown that I love best ... come to think of it ... my Gucci shades are reddish brown, too ... I love brown ... it is mellow and wholesome ...(By the way, the word verification has created a new term that I would like to associate with the color brown: purfyine!)
Always been the biggest fan of brown and light blue...awsome!I'm SO copying his style tomorrow morning!
Sometimes my husband is clueless about how to dress himself. He's been affectionately referred to as a "rock & roll guido." Sometimes appropriate, sometimes not. I will suggest browns layered with sun-faded colors. I think he'd be agreeable with the colors, it's the layering that he may object to. He wants to be a better dresser. He's just not sure who to trust.
So fresh! This color combination reminds me when I was a little girl, I loved to put my light blue tights with my very severe "velours côtelé" brown skirt!
sometimes i get jealous of how simple it is for a guy to look good.. like right now!
so classic, the brown is the perfection here, so I love the smart-smile he have. really good!

anyone know what style/brand those pants are??
oh i love, love, love
LOVE this shot....modern & retro at the same time, perfect balance.
he looks great! i love brown in the summer as well. love his smile =D
xox.
The Voguette
So effortless and chic, just great.
where can i find a jacket like that!!
chocolate browns, tanned skin, blue skies...definitely a great combination. alain delon and maurice ronet in plein soleil/purple noon, remember?
That jacket is a vintage McGregor "Drizzler" I'd recognize it anywhere - I have two, one a medium slatey blue and the other a rich oxbloody red. It's cotton treated with "Cravenette" so says the label. They have a slight sheen and a smooth hand. "Washable, durable, water repellent". I've had them for at least 15 years and they were clearly from the early 60s when I bought them in Seattle. I get compliments on them all the time - perfect Spring /Fall jacket.
Nice guy, shame about the jacket.
what brand/type of sunglasses?
i love the smile :-) people should smile more or at least not look brooding :-))
fine work as always. and thank you thank you for the balance in commentary/photo alone for this photo and the few before it! whether i had anything to do with it or not, it made my day :)
its all about burnt sienna in the summertime.
I would love to know the make of this windbreaker - or at least one like it. Definitely awesome.
I love everything about this look. Its perfect. Great smile Garth!
Susan
he can leave the sunglasses and the watch that spoil his look

like this look, all but the glasses. think I need to get a jacket like this, could see myself wearing it almost as well... if anyone got any pointers as to where I could find one, it'd be much appreciated!
I really want to know what shoes he's wearing. :-)
Garth's style is always GREAT!!! Shoot him more please, Sart.
just wear what you want, jeez get over yourself, just throw something on, it usually looks better than planning every detail...
