Comments on "On the Street......Street Peeper, Sydney"
Very bold... great color for the jacket but definitely not something you would catch the average Joe wearing.
The shape the capri shoe combo gives him is flawless. Makes his calves look awesome.
Great outfit. Like a modern dandy. Shame about the shoes though. I think he could have used something more substantial.
Lovely blazer!
great blazer. and his pants are awesome... and some how, he manages to make it look good with those shoes..
o hai Ken! Love the locks.
Great summer look - apart from the shoes.
From the knees up, his outfit is bangin'. The shoes, on the other hand, are doing him no favors.
Nuh-uh but thanks for trying.
I agree with Leah. This man should have worn something more substantial. In fact, he looks like he's wearing a large-size ladies' Keds.
BTW, these are not capri pants for men. These are what we in the USA call knickers. (I know that in the UKspeak world "knickers" means underpants) This example looks like this gent should be golfing.

Let's not kid ourselves. This looks like what it is i.e. man dressed in womans clothes. Not good.
Nice haircut, nice jacket, nice pants well nice style & so natural..
Philippe

great top and shorts combo.
shoes should be muted to balance the noisy shorts, which in turn need to be worn out further, before publicly wearing.
The shoes kill the outfit. Wrong color, and too "flimsy". He needs
some brogues, or something with a kiltie on them. Ghillies with tassels on the lacetips would be perfect.
I agree with Sprockette - the chap does display, as they used to say "a well turned calf". This is not a look for the chicken-legged.
I agree with Leah - something about this outfit is pre - Beau Brummel.
I'd love a sport jacket made out of the same fabric as his knickers;
that the extent of my sartorial adventurousness.
love the pink plimsolls!
i'll wear this look in a heartbeat.
It's Phil!!!!!!!!
great blazer - love the blue. not too sure of the shoes though, maybe a darker color would have balanced out the look.
I understand the androginy but i think the whole shape is too femenine, specially the shorts. Could've used a little bit more substance.
i find...the shoes is little bit female
No doubt, I understand why this made the Sartorialist. You just couldn't resist it.
this is crying out for battered brown brogues.
ha! pretty funny
CW - you're right, in the UK knickers means underpants, but we'd probably call these knickerbockers or pedal-pushers. I had a pair of burgundy velvet ones when I was a nipper that I loved. Like many commentators on here, I'm not sure about the shoes. My usual war cry here is, "I'd have gone for a brogue..."
*sigh* This guy kinda looks like me...except I'm a girl...and he looks better *sigh*
such beautiful fall light in that photo. nicely done.
shoes is very good.
Lorraine, I would have gone not for a brogue (in USspeak, an oxford with a heavy sole) but for a low cut work shoe or even a desert boot.
The denim jacket, now that another commenter mentioned it, does look like its for a woman.

Haha I was right behind you when you were taking this. :)
Loving Surry Hills atmosphere, and running into you just made my day.
I am not sure about his look...but I do dig the shot, nice shading and perspective.
Great Hair!!
It took me a while to decide if this was a man dressed in woman's clothing or a very masculine woman.
The blazer's the highlight, though the pants and shoes seem too feminine, to me.

love the irony in the shoes. brogues?? nah. yaaay for dissonance!
Loving the shorts + the blue jacket (velvet, no?). Not a big fan of the pink shoes.
Its Phil Oh on the other side of the lens. Yay. He always looks smashing and has great taste. I like the casual shoe here.
The shoes scream "look at me!, look at me!"
Great look. The hair and The color of the jacket along with his skin and the print of the chaps and the pink shoes is exquisite,
and I disagree with the shoe haters. They along with his long hair make look young and carefree instead of stuffy and old fashioned.
Great looks, love your blog, but all these looks you have taken doesn't really really mind me what the real Sydney fashion is like.
schmasculine / schmeminine .. does it matter?
Fashion is about pushing boundaries.. women have adopted menswear details for decades now and in bygone days menswear was completely over the top in details that we would now consider only suitable for womens' wear (ie. embroidery, lace, silk).
Its always changing, that's what makes it great and that's why it makes it onto this website (i would assume).
xo
great blazer. and his pants are awesome... and some how, he manages to make it look good with those shoes..
so, i live in sydney
and no one i EVER see dresses like this.
ever.
ever.
where the hellllll do you find them??
http://rubiexoxo.blogspot.com/
Plus-fours can be a great alternative to shorts. i just bought some in white linen from a vintage store. i love the way this gentleman has put together his outfit so he looks contemporary and a bit quirky. he looks cool, and i like his shoes, too!
agree w/ previous post---nice look on a 15 year old female-
Not a great fan of this look but nice to see someone pushing boundaries!
Love the shoe, partially because I got a pair of red ones recently!
philll!!!!!!!! amazing.
My mom has those shoes.
I'm not a huge fan of the overall ensemble, but I love the pants. I'm pretty sure they are by Dries van Noten, but if not they are nearly identical to a pair of his I've seen.
Something difference! I like the unusual combination. I like the checkers pant.
he has a cool style!
beautiful casuals!!
Always a pleasure to see Phil's ensembles, though some Paul Smith brogues would have sold the look far more effectively. But this is why he is who he is
everything is OK except for the pink shoes
www.blogdljr.blogspot.com
wow, that jacket is niiice.
his style is very similar to mine . . . I love it . . .
boring
love the jacket...would wear it for myself. and do admire his rather quirky style.
Damn! Is it just me? That is hideous!
the bottom half makes him look like a dumpy matron. blunder!!!!!
looks amazing!!! pink shoes clash with the rest.
Love the look of this guy
I could just eat you up like a big bowl of porridge!
Phil, you look wonderful. I hope you're having fun!
xo SUSSMAN
oh i love the shoes, really
Phil is looking great!!! He looks very handsome like this!
But hey! Where is your geisha elastic? That was a hot look too :)
H.
is it me?
there is something about his hair that clashes with the outfit...
i cant put my finger on it...
but there is a disposition that is lacking here.
Love the plaid shorts. Right length, right fabric. I need to see more of these as opposed to super wide, ill fitting board shorts everywhere!
great outfit! But it reminds me way too much of america...
I look like Phil. Can someone give me his email? I think he is my twin.
I like it!
Always great to see men pushing boundaries. So what if he's wearing female (inspired) attire. He owns his look and that's all that matters. It's certainly a look I like to achieve and it's much better than the boring combat shorts and t-shirts I see guys wearing all the time!
