Anonymous suzanne nelson said ... (12:35 PM) :

i like the way she makes everything work for her, even making the boots look like an essential part of the outfit rather than a trendy accessory - may be that is one definition of personal style ?

Blogger Karoline said ... (12:35 PM) :

Love the YSL's. They have a really simple design, and that is what makes them beautiful. Really cute girl too, that was such a lovely smile!

Blogger Uinku said ... (1:35 PM) :

She looks great! The combination of shorts and YSL boots make her legs look short though.

Blogger E said ... (1:42 PM) :

How she carries herself makes the look. Put those clothes on any other woman, and it's not quite the same. She's fabulous.

Blogger fashionfatwa said ... (1:42 PM) :

the miroslava duma shoes! beautiful.

Blogger Laura said ... (1:46 PM) :

I'm so tired of seeing those YSL platform boots! They've made their way into many closets, but do nothing for those who wear them. The gorgeous girl you snapped just had her leg line truncated by those boots. Shame!

The woman, though, is quite beautiful.

Blogger lauren baluyo said ... (3:42 PM) :

This girl seems very chill and confident. Hot style too, and those sexified shoes add a perfect touch!

Anonymous greendress said ... (3:47 PM) :

The composition is beautiful. Everyone is talking about the yellow sign but I can't help but to notice her hair suspended against the yellow wheel.

She looks angelic and beautiful. I don't think this is a men's vest, but whatever it is, it works for her. Truncated? No, there is nothing truncated about this look. She has terrific calves therefore these shoes work perfectly with her body. It just seems as if the shoes accentuate her calves.

Blogger Valerie said ... (3:49 PM) :

those shoes are killer,luvs

Anonymous Chloe said ... (4:01 PM) :

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (4:56 PM) :

Well I think the sign is saying what everyone is thinking.

"These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do ..."

Blogger junglesiren said ... (4:58 PM) :

That's what you call a bona fide cutie pie.

She looks like Zoë Kravitz.

I like what she's wearing but I must say those boots (from sole to top) look as long as her calf and therefore the proportions here aren't as flattering as they would be on a tall woman. That's alotta shoe for a little girl.

Also, I'm not a big fan of petite women (like myself, all 5'4" of me) letting their skirts pass their knee. It's not the most flattering hem line on us. I guess it's a question of looking "not bad" to looking "your best".

That said, if I saw her on the street I would likely find the girl and the outfit charming... this venue brings out the knit picker in all of us.

Blogger M&S said ... (5:00 PM) :

Waaouawww beautiful shoes and nice pic

Blogger Anastasia said ... (5:28 PM) :

great shot Sart - nice to see the Australian light...nice and bright! 'The Rocks' area near the Harbour is one of my favourite spots!

Blogger Tullia said ... (5:44 PM) :

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (5:51 PM) :

Love the outfit, effortless and then bam: Tributes (love them in the bootie version!). Gorgeous pic with the bridge in the backdrop!
xx

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:03 PM) :

ysl shoes all over the globe. i would have preferred to see something else from down under, not those same shoes all over again! not that I don´t like the outfit, and the girl is lovely, but I just got tired of seeing them and wanted something else from australia

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 PM) :

I guess the shoes are cool- but they look SO painful to wear. I man, is it beautiful to ruin your feet and stress your skeletal structure?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:10 PM) :

I can't see the "yellow wheel" behind her hair, which greendress mentioned. I just thought I should point out that the faint structure behind her is Sydney's Harbour Bridge and this was shot at the Rocks.

Beautiful look. :)

Anonymous jj said ... (6:12 PM) :

You captured the Sydney daylight beautifully and the juxtaposing of the sign and the impossibly high shoe-boots - love it...

For those wondering what the sign is: it's for a pedestrian crossing.

Blogger meredith said ... (6:17 PM) :

Yowza! Those shoes pack a punch, especailly if you're scrolling down and they appear last.

Blogger RunwayRevolution said ... (6:21 PM) :

Amazed you found a part of that street with noone walking around in back of shot...I'm over the shoes already, and her outfit isn't that original for Sydney, but she's cute none the less.

Hopefully you found that point of difference between Syd and Melb you mentioned when you were talking to Patty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:47 PM) :

Blogger a girl in said ... (7:09 PM) :

The sign indicates that it is a pedestrian crossing, it includes the white stripes on the ground, which we call 'zebra crossings' =)

Anonymous lesley said ... (7:12 PM) :

esmoquin room. The sign means it's a pedstrian crossing. great style. Great hair. Lovely girl

Blogger Amy said ... (7:49 PM) :

I think the printed skirt is the best feature, and I also like the slouchy top. I love black altogether and am glad it's still in this late in the year. Perhaps it's a transitory color.

Not too hot for the shoes...

beautiful shot, great outfit & lovely hair - welcome to Sydney. Yesterday was freezing - you and she make it look like a warm spring day

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:09 PM) :

the sydney picture has to have the harbour bridge behind it, I feel so ashamed...as thats the entire depth of the city. fashion in sydney is not very good!

Anonymous melbourne fashionista said ... (8:19 PM) :

What an amazingly beautiful shot. The clearness and blueness of the sky and the sunlight. We love being in Australia!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:33 PM) :

the sign means there is a pedestrian crossing.
but i like how someone interpreted it as "warning! runaway legs"

her shoes are amazing. and the Bridge looks lovely, blurred in the background.

Anonymous mimi said ... (9:43 PM) :

anyway, i think she looks fabulous, and im loving it was shot at the rocks :)

but surely there are more than 4 fashionable people you've shot in australia so far??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 PM) :

then u're in australia now...so u should go to Indonesia, Jakarta or Bali, My beloved Country...yes I think u should go there...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 PM) :

Its like the sign in the back is telling you to look at her shoes. Great composition!

Blogger Barbara said ... (10:02 PM) :

Blogger Toffeenose said ... (10:10 PM) :

Lovely Autumn sun in Sydney

Anonymous db said ... (10:18 PM) :

God I hate the shoes - they're big, clunky, awkward and inelegant. But she's young I guess it's more important to be noticed at that age than to actually look good

Anonymous J said ... (10:27 PM) :

@CurveSmart - that part of Sydney is really quiet usually. Hardly any people walk down there on weekdays except for the occasional tourist.

This outfit is nice but nothing special. However, I don't see how she could have walked around in the Rocks with those heels. She would have rolled her ankles soooo many times!

Blogger Pearl Bhasin said ... (10:37 PM) :

OOOH... love the sweet, innocent smile with those super-vixen heels...

Anonymous Ironic said ... (10:55 PM) :

The sign means... pedestrian crossing.

It's freezing in Sydney... this outfit seems silly to me.

Anonymous Anna said ... (11:02 PM) :

That skin, that hair, those shoes! I am so jealous!)))

Blogger Slop and Porridge said ... (11:48 PM) :

the sign in background marks a pedestrian crossing as a sydney sider this person looks very unsydney. but great- and ill claim everyone looks like this.

Is this Sidney Poitier's beautiful daughter?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 AM) :

How cute is she and those shooties to match?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 AM) :

Pretty girl and lovely photo. Don't much like the shoes (agree with the comment above that they truncate her legs), but the rest of the outfit complements her petite figure.

Sart - re: your comments reported in the Age and SMH today - we Melbourne girls are happy to agree that Sydney fashion is sexy and well put together - but saying we're "dowdier" and less feminine? Maybe on Chapel Street - but we're a different breed north of the river!

Anonymous JESSIE said ... (12:45 AM) :

Nothing is to be expected from any city...'not sydney' - I say WHY NOT. It's a photo not an all day moment, surely to see detail of outfit one may remove their jacket.

Sartorialist welcome. I love her shadow.

To see what i've been doing in your absence in my capital - Canberra: capitalthread.blogspot.com

I thought you'd never make it here, pity Melbourne was so rainy on the weekend.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:57 AM) :

the sign means its a crossing or walkway, you can see the zebra stripes on the ground.

were you only in melbourne for a day? thats a shame. you should have checked out the fitzroy/brunswick area. very 'melbourne chic'

Anonymous Hamilton said ... (3:02 AM) :

Great shoes and gorgeous girl

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 AM) :

I'm surprised these pictures are from Australia. I know it's nearing winter, but it's not as cold as here in New Zealand. I always find Australians wear loads of colour. We have heaps of black clothes here and I find it depressing - but whenever I go across the ditch I see colour so I'm a bit disappointed in seeing the black clothes :(

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:22 AM) :

The girl is beautiful, I do not think the outfit is really flattering, though. I do not like how the vest goes with the skirt. I agree with the comment on the 80's: we already lived through them, I do not think we need to go there again! Regarding the shoes...believe it or not those kind of shoes are usually quite comfortable, at least much more than they look!

Anonymous ziolele said ... (3:43 AM) :

Blogger giulia said ... (5:02 AM) :

I love how she appears to be throwing the bridge over her shoulder like a cape or a shawl. The composition of this photo is simply perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 AM) :

Looks rubbish.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 AM) :

It means there is a pedestrian crossing, it is there to prompt drivers to slow down i guess.

I love her boots!!!
She looks perfect in the sunlight.
I think the pic was taken at CG end of George St. I work a few minutes walk from there.

Blogger Victoria said ... (5:12 AM) :

mmmm....pretty

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 AM) :

I lived in the CBD area of Sydney for a few months about two years ago. I always loved the fact that the women in that area always strutted about in killer heels despite the fact that the streets of Sydney can be very steep. This girl doesn't look like she is from Sydney but I love her outfit and the photo.

Blogger bleeding hearts said ... (5:52 AM) :

Beautiful shot - love the skirt, the girl and the exceptional background. Not so crazy about the YSL shoes though.

Interesting article on the Age today. The comparison between Sydney and Melbourne is always an interesting one, not sure if I truly agree with your observations though!

aha, the sign means that she is in a pedestrian zone, though I wonder how far she'd get in those incredible shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:52 AM) :

I'm from Sydney! WOOHOO yes sydney has style. Sartorialist, try Oxford Street in Kingscross, Crown Street in Surry Hills, King Streetn in Newtown and Crows Nest is nice too; might find a few innovators =) hope you enjoy your stay here

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 AM) :

I'm a Sydney sider and I've never considered those signs cute or weird before, they're normal for us! I've never realised they don't have them other places..
Cute shoes, but you wouldn't get far in the Rocks wearing them!

Check out Glebe & Newtown while you're here..

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:17 AM) :

means pedestrian crossing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:34 AM) :

This is a good photo of her, ok outfit but personally the shoes looks out of place and uncomfortable for the time and place. I'm surprised you found her at the Rocks.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:56 AM) :

She is beautiful but I think the proportions are off from head to toe. Each item would work separately but together it is a shapeless outfit.

The skirt needs a trimmer top; the vest needs a more fitted and/or shorter (if a skirt) bottom; and I think the shoes need either black hose, trousers, or a short dress in order not to break up the leg line.

Even the purse is too long. Shorten the strap or wear it cross body.

I feel like this is a case of beautiful items that don't fit; and yet I can see them looking great in their current size on this woman if she only picked different things to pair with them.

I'm sorry, but these ankle boots have to go. They're ridiculous - am I the only one who thinks this? (Probably...) This outfit would be much more pleasing to me if she had on a simple pair of flip flops or even some kind of espadrille... So, so sick of the boot thing. They make short women look shorter and every outfit look tougher than it should. Tougher than it deserves to be. Enough with the stupid boots.
