Comments on "On the Street......Youth, Milano"
looks great! except the white socks and loafers...
OmG!!!, Totally love it!
FIRST!
Like birds of a feather.
Love the bag, actually the whole ensemble is stunning.
Perfectly miniature and perfectly done up!
Love the Albert Slippers!! But much less the white socks.. Very nicely paired couple though.
A really sweet photo! =)
karl lagerfeld would approve
What a cute and perfect pair! Very in sync!
Hmmm, white socks. Not too sure.
Do white socks look good in any context? Help me out here.
Stunning!!!
Oh, her bag is so gorgeous/cute!
their air of youthful innocence is so alluring
a perfect tone of well-dressed yet casual, almost playful with the headband on the girl, and the comfortable loafers on the man.
She looks so genuinely pleased to have her photo taken.
These two look maaaahvelous! I agree with some comments on the white socks. I probably would have just gone with bare ankles. Regardless, they are a smashing duo.
that is cute!
x
The thing about the white socks is, without them, you would be hard pressed to see any delineation between the pants and the slippers. I'm guessing this is why he wore them. I like it.
I also really like this blog, and all of the people who offer comments. Everyone is so amiable!
Next to them I feel like a caveman. Aspiraional. Inspirational. And the sox...hmm...well it takes a little funk and Im not sure he has that but boy they have something there.
God, I just fell in love with the Milano couple!!! So cool!!!!!!!!
Proportions and textures of his outfit are like in quattrocento paintings...
i love this image. the background really makes it pop!
Her mini Birkin is so cute!
Slippers and white socks
Not a great idea.
like ensemble what the girs is wearing...looks way too cute!!and the bag...
I think they can get away with the white socks and black bra because the rest is so polished. It makes them look a little less studied.
I love the chain of hers.
wow she is soemthing. what is that black thing twisted down from her neck? i like the hanging chain detail. everything's great! i like his coat and hair. they both look very modern vampire-ish..in a good way of course.
great stylish couple, they complement each other so well.

They look amazing! Are they a couple?
I really enjoy your photographs.
Jw Blog
White socks look good in no context. And also, too much black and white.
lovely bag!!
Great photo! Love the black and white contrast.
I love the black and white, I mean: white socks worked for Audrey in funny face
Unless you're the new Federer, white socks will always be a no no! Other than that, the couple looks rather chic.
I personally love the white socks...the woman's bra line is going to bother me, though.
Would have liked to see a splash of color, though.
good for them!!
They totally suit each other I adore her bag and her shirt especially. Innocence!

I luv her kelly bag and the black and white!

I personally enjoy the white socks. It's a risk well taken. Maybe he chose to wear them because putting on socks that blend in with everything below his lower half would have been too easy. Kudos to the white socks. Love her outfit, especially the added touch of the linked necklace.

sharp outfits on both sans the white socks on the chap. Personally, I'm still on the fence with white socks and dress shoes Sartorial Vancouver, but here's some trend spotting I did that indicates the jury is still out...
http://men.myfashionlife.com/archives/2009/02/25/white-socks-and-black-shoes-finally-acceptable/
beautiful people
sweet! :]
They both look exquisite, love the coat.
I know this has already been said, but I love her bag.
And I love your blog!
Is that a lil birkin? How appropriate.
i actually like the white socks on him. i love both their outfits.
Brother and sister, perhaps. Good impressions run in the family, eh?
5/10. accessories outshine here, though white sock are indeed nice to see again.
so parisian, i love. esp the mini birkin.

nice shot..
im seriously thingking about opening a second hand clothering shop..
the world is defenitely changed.
everything is going opposing the original direction... many things "wrong"
^^
have a nice weekend
Noir, noir, noir... always in style.
Congratulations Scott!
You got a good write up in London's Times

Fun and severe all at the same time.
Very sophisticated for "youth."
so italian. i love their youthful sophistication, but the modesty in their smiles is what's truly charming to me. i can't decide if they are brother and sister or a couple, but either way they compliment each other very well.
love the face mood. The biker jacket and white/black mix
this is just an aside, but how come all the girls on this site can put their feet together without their thighs touching??
not fair, i say ...
Here's the problem; Sart's evidence is mounting up that life in Milan is so dull that kids have to dress up to stay interested.
I love his hair...very classic! I do not know exactly why, but he looks so interesting. Unfortunately when you scroll down you see white socks. I just do not like white socks...in any occasion. But I do like the loafers.
Her mini-bag is the finishing touch to her lovely outfit (I like the high waist)
I would like to have seen their smiles, but maybe that would not have made this picture so mysterious.
perfect couple!
Great photo, Sart. Normally i recoil in horror at matching couples but these two give their outfits edge, they look a bit tough, they look good together. The Great White Sock Debate - i agree with Link and Anon9.53pm because i remember in the 80s/early 90s white socks (especially on men) were deeply uncool but that was 15-20 years ago and now we have a whole new set of references.
stylish young people - love them :-) background is beautiful too. green trees and brown
I love his hairstyle! And a skirt without a cravat!
i actually like the white socks. I can't see any other way he could wear the loafers. Great job! But just one thing..why did you call this post 'youth'?? They aren't so young..although they do look fab
youth?i bet the guy is over 30...
Outstanding!! They are a perfect penguin match and Milanese all the way!! I love the lack of color and the white socks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ever think of adding video enhancements to your photos? If these two could talk we might find the answer to many many important questions!
The white socks look absolutely fine here. I particularly like the way he seems to be bridging the centuries with his outfit. It seems appropriate to the setting. They look great together.
I've just seen this photo: well I feel each one, took alone, is beautiful, especially him, but togheter, I don't know.. it doesn't rock!
PS: a very nice use of the white socks with velvet slippers during the day!
Love her tiny but structured bag, and her...is that a necklace?
I daydream that one day you will see my boyfriend and I on the street of some European city and we'll be photographed for our pair dressing capabilities. Although he indulges my request to "match" me when we dress up, his wardrobe needs to be expanded if we are to truly seem a pair. Project! :)
the smaller size Hermes bag is charming on a jeunne fille.
The white socks are great ... it works with the updated 1960s college boy thing he seams to be doing.
Eddie Munster and Wednesday Addams, adorably spooky.
Crikey Yanks! don't you know a couple of Teddy's when you seem them? It's England pre-Beatles all the way.
Beautiful..

Oh, I like this. She, in particular, looks fantastic. Love the shorts, top, jacket, hair, everything. I even like her suggestively contained expression.
Love the white socks with loafers in this case. It works.
I LOVE the white socks peeking out with the loafers and the slightly oversized coat... it's just so dorky chic! Her adorable collar at the throat is also a lovely dorky-chic touch :~)
great photo. cannot see the appeal of his tights/trousers. anyone like to explain ?
Am I the only one who thinks they're siblings? Not a couple?
yay for the hair!! =)
The girl is cute. Not sure about the guy tho. His coat and shirt say amish colonial, while his loafers and pants screams fop.
Darkly, romantically stylish....two beautiful vampires ;) Seriously, this is a gorgeous, gorgeous photo.
Very romantic, so Milano! The only time I love to see white socks with velvet slippers (?). Simple details that make it so effortless, so chic.
To darkly !!! *.*
I adore this couple - they really show the style of the youth today .. fashions future and ironically they are in fashions capital - Milan
I find you and your blog really inspirational - read about you in the Times magazine this week........ I have recently made my own blog -http://cocobutterlipbalm.blogspot.com/
and would really appreciate it if you would check it out and comment on some of the posts and suscribe to it!
sorry but that jacket of him looks ridiculous
Aww, cute!
I love the girl's outfit--so cute! But I'm not a big fan of the guy's white socks....sorry...
I think these out-fits are stunning. Yeah but no but I simply doens't understand the with socks and the overcoat. It doens't really fit, does it?
LOVE his shoes- they go so well with his jeans.

Gotta love this guy's shoes. Even with the white socks (and perhaps because of them...they do punch up the texture contrast between the pants and the loafers) they totally make the outfit. Somehow they're just the right complement to the skinny jeans and the green jacket...with gold buttons, no less!
I don't think it works here. I don't like the shoes.
Here is the context where is works...
http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2008/09/newman_slideshow200809
Paul Newman at the actors studio.
Not really my thing. Not that excited about this one.
omg!!!!! he is so yummy!!!!!
I actually like the white socks...it almost keeps him youthful. It's playful.
Anyways, I love love love loooove this pair. They're perfect.
too fabulous for words! (the white socks work, perhaps he thought it was more wise to be warm rather than make a fashion statement? either way, it breaks up the black from pants to shoes very well.)
but how "youthful" are they, just out of curiosity? twenties?
Yes,Yes,Yes!!!!!
Going to ballet practice?
Can someone, anyone buy me a Kelly bag? All kidding aside (though I'm really not) they look adorable!
the white socks plays the wild card role in this ensemble.
I love the girl´s outfit
Possibly the coolest two people on the planet, I want to befriend them!
Mwah. Perfect match and stepping out smoothly. I think the white socks work a treat. If he wore otherwise they would be too 'match-y' (with her tights and black shoes). I like his stance too, kinda slouchy - eases the severity a tad.
Love love love....
man looking tight. lady looking a treat.saved by her choice of shoe. rounded toe, non shiny heel saves what a pointy, shiny one might spoil
The girl is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!! (even if I've already seen that dress on Gossip Girl...
The harmony between the couple is there; right down to their skinny black pants which taper off into adorable black shoes. Something about this photo makes me seek such harmony in a mate!
Interesting to note are the chain that seems hooked between two points on her skirt, in contrast with the vertical black ruffle design of her blouse makes for an interesting effect.
I enjoy his über-oversized coat with close fitting pants.
Looks like that Arbus shot but these dudes is more self aware innit? Maybe not...
White sox rule!
love love love love LOVE the bag, the black and white, and how ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE this couple is.
an impeccably styled and colour-coordinated beau, that's what i need...
the kelly is too obvious- the lock need not be there either.
Just imagine this picture a 50 years from now, very August Sander.
I love photography!
she's boring.
he's brilliant.
and those white socks should stay right where they are.
the couple, along with your title, remind me of a certain diane arbus photograph taken in new york.
I love them...they look so great!
oh my gosh can i be her!! i love the chains and the cute bag. oh man. the black and white looks so crisp and fresh. the length of her skirt is so cute to especially because it's so high-waisted!! LOVE!!!
So gossip girl style
Oh, they are both stunning.
