Comments on "On the Street......So So Chic, Paris"
beautiful purse! is it veneta?
Green and purple are such lovely colours! That signora really is staring you down.. Is that her smart car in the background?
Only in Paris...
Beautiful colours and such attitude! What is it about continental Europeans and that ankle-length trouser short boot combo (like it, but it is something that seems to mark them out)?
Love the purse too!!
Wow....it is such a great, crisp mix : the very feminine, architectural coat with the scarf and lipstick... the matching gloves and the great, lady-like bag. Yet a surprisingly masculine belt, trousers and shoes ( in a very feminine purple suede).
I would never have the vision to put something like this together.
Fantastic! What a dame.
The shoe color is magnificent. It's the complimentary color of her coat -- which is awesome in and of itself. This woman must know color theory!
I agree with the previous poster: What a dame!
Love it. So strong, masculine-edged but still clearly feminine. Love it.
she look like American trying to look French
GO PURPLE DESSERT BOOTS!!!
Beautiful shoes!
Very stylish and confident. Like it
DIVINE!
WOAHHHHH
I rarely comment on women's style, but this is just fantastic. So chic. I wish all women aged so gracefully.
So chic and elegant! But I am confused: what does one do with the belt when one removes their coat in a restaurant or other destination? Do they awkwardly roll it up and shove it into their pocket? I must follow someone wearing this look so that I can solve the mystery...
WOW! This is one of the most beautiful combinations I´ve seen in the entire blog, - and I´ve regarded them all patiently ;)
What an inspiration, great, great colours, dont´t overlook the handbag and the gloves, all verrrrrry tasty.
Thanks!!!
Best part is the Bottega Veneta purse!
Sleek and chic!
Kisses
Thank you for a posting of a sharp woman of a certain age, and of course she's French! I can't see the colors as well as some, so appreciate the clues in the postings about that.
Everything on her is neat, well-fitted, and proportioned. Usually I don't like those huge carpetbagger bags, but the one she sports looks good on her. And it sounds like the color combo was fantastic.
WOW. I am loving everything except the shoe--I don't get it. I'm not saying it has to be a heel; but I don't think the overall shape goes with the outfit; I'd like more of a point; perhaps an almond shaped toe if not a full on point.
Amazing richness to all of it; and I don't mean money, I mean the colors and textures.
Thank you, poster above, for raising the question I constantly have--what is the short pant thing about???? If its done to show off a heel/shoe I get it, but if not...?
Perfection...the green of her coat and gloves and that touch of purple shoes. I am sure it is a bottega handbag. The belt tied so beautifully, the scarf...some one stop me before I spontaneously combust.
She kinda looks like she could be related to Andree Putman.
fierceness
Su blog es una de mis referencias más preciadas.
Gracias!

Your blog is one of the most significative references related to my professional interests.
yonotengopersonalidad
golly gosh, she is striking!
There is a lot to be studied and learned from this one.
Those shoes are amazing! Great jacket too! She is fierce.
I suggest a lot of the good about this look is created by the wearer. She's confident and seemingly not too concerned about her look - which creates an even stronger look.
I like the short leg pant with short low boots. It feels very English countryside to me, since often you'd roll up the pants to avoid mud on long rambling forest walks. And because I'm obsessed with the Wiemar era, it also pleasantly reminds me of old European school uniforms where kids wore shorts and short skirts with socks until they got into' long pants'. Its also a throwback to the very first pants that women wore, 'bloomers' tied at the ankle with low boots...
I love those shoes! The thing about the toe - a roomy toe box makes all the difference in the world regarding comfort and the continued structural integrity of the foot.
And these gloves look like the ones on the JA sorta look alike, but this woman would never look like she was heading out to mop floors or kick it with the haz mat.
Fabulous!
Lovely lady.
That coat is to die for...the color and drape of the fabric. So lush.
she is dressed very well, stylish and au courant. but her expression is so stuffy.
the pictures that really resonate are always those with a wonderful smile. so, to me, this one leaves me flat.
surpringly, what stands out the most to me is her belt. an otherwise simple accessory now grabs your attention simply because of the way she wears it. now if that isn't personal style, i don't know what is.
man from the waist down
woman from the waist up
*covet* I want those boots. Don't step on my stunningly purple suede shoes.
beautiful coat.
i prefer, a thinner/discrete belt, as the current positioning of it takes away from the coat's breezy silhouette, which would have promoted a greater, sharp contrast against the pedestrian pant.
She's elevated purple "desert boots" to a level of sophistication I truly admire. Formidable!
ahh, moi j'aime bien ce qu'elle fait avec la ceinture. et les gants? trop chic!
i read garance's blog as well and read the articles she recently posted. can't say i'm too surprised ;)
i meant she look like a 57th Street New Yorker
Not diggin it. There's something off in the overall look, I think it's the pants.
Upper half is wonderful
Paris,
toujours chic!
Love the coat and the gloves
The coat: so, so chic. The shoes: so-so chic.
I love it. The short pants, the gloves, the colour combnation. Lush!
nice green coat.and those shoes are fantastic.
I would have never thought a woman in desert boots could look so elegant and stylish ...a welcome alternative to the herds of fashionistas on stilts.
How smart can you get? What a feast of subtle yet dramatic shades. And the silhouette is totally elegant. I love women without heels.
oh i love that crisp green coat!nice and chic1 :]
Wow, this lady really looks chic chic chic!
As a bunion sufferer, I congratulate her on wearing flat boots with a toe box that doesn't cause pain. The color makes them even better. Despite her stern gaze and very structured overall look, she clearly has a sense of humor.
This lady's got a strong character, its in her face and her way of dressing.

I love everything...except those shoes (although the colour and texture are great).
am imagining the timbre of her voice...
textures, colours, knots and things...stunning
I get such pleasure from the length of the cuffed pants and the purple suede shoes, thanks!
Best thing about this picture is the woman herself - her age, her look, her sense of being quite contented in her own skin, and her sense of herself in the world. As a woman not far behind her in age I find her quite inspirational........
Tres chic, tres Parisienne, elle a un chien fou. Bravo, madame!!!
such rare elegance... so chic!
sevenclovers.blogspot.com
ok, now this is what i call *CLASSY*
I love the shape and the colour of the coat and the knotted belt. Nice gloves, bag and pants. I'm for another kind of shoes... but she looks good.
Perfection!
cool! ultra confy, ultra chic!
are the shoes clarks(never seen purple) or else?
Katerina
She had us up until the shoes....
the bottega suddenly made the whole outfit look expensive. lol.
Actually, I really like her shoes too.
I LOVE her look: strong (you would not want to mess with this woman!) practical(shoes you can walk or run in!) AND feminine (soft scarf, rich lipstick, waist-defining belt, plus awesome bag and gloves for extra polish.) Hells, yes.
I want to look like that! It just looks so effortlessly put together. Beautiful colours!
So Parisine!
colors fantastic! quality really good. love the flat shoe. who would have thought. she pulls it off beautifully. true style.
Beautifully proportioned.
Regal, polished, & unassuming!
As someone that cannot do heels, I rejoice when I see smart, chic dressers in wearable shoes!
So so chic.....except for the shoes.
She looks fantastic. The coat is perfect and the accessories aren't overbearing. I'm not loving the shorter length pant but I have to say it's irrelevant because the look as a whole is beautiful.
Brilliante! This is the look that is plain, simple and basically what one would call gentle-lady-look :)
Bravo!
Wonderful colours and even better attitude! This photo is the reason why I log on...
and no heels!
I really love the shoes. The pants are exactly the right length--most hard to do!. Wow.
she's just brill, its like 'i dont give a dam-chic'
I think it's the trousers that are not right - otherwise she looks a treat!
"Practically perfect in every way..."
I want to dress like her when I grow up.
i love the color combination.
I loved scrolling down and being surprised by the shoes - not what I was expecting; but that's what is great about them.
Now this IS 'Le Chic Parisian'! Smart, refined and simple! Not total black!
Truly, this is incredible.
Pictures like this one is the reason I'm visiting this blog.
Isn't that Lily Bass?
very, very chic! the color and the minimalistic cut...the coat is simply beautiful!
Would someone who knows please tell me what brand the shoes are? My wee chukkas are wearing out and green and purple a favourite combination. I wear flats through the airport all the way to the meeting...and never wear a heel except for business.
In Tejas
Actually I would even wonder if she is french...and I live in PAris...I think it's over the top
Everything about this works. And while very chic, it's not intimidating, which is a good thing.
Oh please let me age as gracefully as this. This is one sublime lady.
I was scrolling down slowly thinking...wow, how chic and then when I saw the shoes it all fell flat.
I LOVE THIS PICTURE.
Everything about this woman screams elegance, without being overly formal.
Plus the paired jewel tones are magnificent!
