This is so stylish... an eccentric gentleman! =)

Blogger David said ... (9:52 AM) :

mutton-chops, Mutton-Chops, MUTTON-CHOPS!
Sorry - got a bit carried away.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

Very Dov Charney chic

Blogger The Concrete Commentator said ... (9:58 AM) :

mmm.. like the simple bag, and his little knickers. Great trench as well!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

Hermes, the messenger of the gods!

Blogger máni said ... (10:37 AM) :

and that blue!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 AM) :

That briefcase is absolutely amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:43 AM) :

so stylish!
love his bag and his haircut

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:44 AM) :

I would kill for that bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

The scarf is beautiful. The trench has a cool 1970's retro, Shaft vibe. But, the leather knickers and the high boots push the outfit over the edge.
A little more restraint would have gone a long way.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (11:00 AM) :

Love those blue doors in the Marais.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 AM) :

not a fan of the mutton chops, personally. a fun look, otherwise.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM) :

Now THAT is sexy....

Blogger Diana said ... (11:08 AM) :

one word: coooool..
what are mutton chops, please?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

what an eccentric equestrian! i love everything in the look! everything. especially the hair and scarf!
great find!
and a great site too, mr sartorialist. i'm a big fan!

Blogger andrea.at.the.blue.door said ... (11:18 AM) :

Isn't lovely how that wonderful scarf ties into the blue doors (which are the same color as the front door to my house, so of course I'm predisposed to liking this image!)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 AM) :

I love every aspect of this outfit. The blue wall serves as an excellent background to highlight his outfit. Everything just works! I can't put it into words, but I'm enthralled.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:38 AM) :

Is that a Longchamp bag? Love the shape!

Blogger Sasha said ... (11:54 AM) :

so classy, but with the perfect amount of edge.

je l'aime.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:58 AM) :

boot love

Blogger Barbara said ... (12:03 PM) :

Good grief! It took a second look to realise that this man is not buck naked under his coat! His pants look so similar in colour to his skin........!!! I had a good laugh when I realised that he is in fact wearing leather plus fours. Apart from all this he's quite original...

Blogger junglesiren said ... (12:06 PM) :

Wow, great shot. A bit editorial, I'd say.

I love every inch.

Clearly this guy's got it going on. He knows what works and isn't afraid to "go there". I especially love his sideburns.

Blogger Brian said ... (12:34 PM) :

1970's London called and wants it swinger back right now...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:49 PM) :

Oooh, I like him! I am partial to a bit of eccentric facial hair... Did you get his number?

Blogger indigo warrior said ... (5:03 PM) :

There's something about the boots that makes them look convertible. Except for the line up of the stitching on the inside of the front boot, I'd almost say that the shaft of the boot is actually some kind of legging not quite a spat. He appears to be dressed to take care of some dreadful business at a meeting that wasn't so dreadful at all.

With the big blue doors, the motor-bike/cycle/scooter wheel and that outfit there are so many stories we can make up for him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:13 PM) :

"Le Monsieur" it's one of the Brand Paul & Joe designers. You should see him with is red boots and plexyglass bowtie. In did excentric!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

for a moment I thought he wasn't wearing any pants...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:28 PM) :

Love the composition of that photo /the colors complimenting each other and his very masculine sexy mutton chop side burns w/ the Hermes bag --NICE ;-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 PM) :

The scarf is very beautiful, and the boots are very equestrian.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 PM) :

This man looks dashing & surprisingly sexy for someone who's completely covered up. The slight breeze wafting through the shot helps. So does the guy's attitude. And while each article of clothing is classic, the combination is odd enough to be really interesting! That's Paris for you...

Blogger Passport Stamps said ... (6:55 PM) :

FIERCE!!

Blogger juliaterrassa said ... (7:19 PM) :

Anonymous 5:13 you're right, it's Olivier Mullin, one of Paul & Joe designers. Great shot and great boots!

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (7:34 PM) :

his hair is interesting.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:48 PM) :

I'm surprised at all the comments about his hair/sideburns--how can you care with clothes that amazing?: the perfect navy trench, the most amazing leather short pants (I personally have never seen anything like these before...but would buy in an instant if I did!), a gentleman's vintage boots, and a unique shopper tote. Maybe not the same way I'd wear it, not the same color combos I'd pick--but I completely love everything about this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 PM) :

overkill, do not like

Blogger CW said ... (9:44 PM) :

Hello? Get me a new horse! The "youths" burned my horse last night.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 PM) :

I had to do a double take because his face totally looks like my boyfriend, plus 10 years or so. So obviously I find him very handsome. And I love his eccentric fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:49 PM) :

Glad someone finally let on that those AREN'T boots or they might be a short boot with a spat type accessory. This is one of those Sart awesome photos that is a great shot of a "Hot Mess." The bag looks like he keeps it in the "boot" of his old "2CV"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:20 AM) :

this looks so great in so many ways! yes yes yes yes yes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:28 AM) :

some great items but all together it becomes a failed experiment. very brave though

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:04 AM) :

It's a vintage Lancel bag!!!
for new ones, check their website: http://www.lancel.com

Cheers!

Blogger 5Preview said ... (11:49 AM) :

O Mamma Mia!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:52 PM) :

somehow i think he tries too hard. i like every piece of clothing by itself, although combined i find it just too much... at least he is wearing natural colors... not a fan of the leather pant. looks like a bavarian...

Blogger hippie_cyndi said ... (3:25 PM) :

The cloths, esp. the pants and boots scream turn of the 20th CE in Germany......the face says I'm still stuck in 70s Acid Punk era.

Nevertheless, a fascinating man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:10 PM) :

Yikes! At first I thought he was pantless!

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (5:43 PM) :

Love Le Marais, love this whole outfit.

The shock of wavy hair takes the costume to a whole new level!

Blogger Carrie said ... (9:37 PM) :

He looks cool in a grown-up steampunk kind of way. Love the glasses!

Blogger Princess Lyla said ... (9:56 AM) :

Love this look. If the side burns go it will be great.

Blogger crowsfeet said ... (11:59 AM) :

Remember when you were a kid and the very best outfit was all of your favorite stuff worn together?

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:38 PM) :

Le sac longchamp est magnifique !

Blogger AsterMax said ... (8:08 PM) :

The Steampunk hair and 'chops are too-too!

Blogger Scoop said ... (1:36 AM) :

Anonymous ronan the librarian said ... (10:18 PM) :

I remember wearing looks like this in the early 1980s new romantic era and (almost) getting beaten up for it... nice to see it recycle though it makes me feel old!
