the shoes really stand out.

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (9:46 AM) :

If this jacket is one of the first of that Barbour Collection that is hard-to-get, I will be soooo jealous! I like the red wing boots- they are worth the money! Great outfit overall. Jorge from WPB

Blogger TEXTSTYLES said ... (9:53 AM) :

this is such a fabulous look for every day. quite striking.

*bisous*

Blogger MONI said ... (10:12 AM) :

i started to see this uber clean work boot appear on campus earlier this semseter (I attend a private arts college). I'm not sure where the man was from but it is a very handsome look.

i think as we make our way thru these financially trying times, the very basics like trad. work clothes in pristine state become the glamorous and sexy. though I might like to see the man above with a sexier hat even though his face is VERY easy to look at.

Blogger JP said ... (10:20 AM) :

Red Wings rock!

I like the contrast with the pants

Blogger heyifa said ... (10:35 AM) :

i love the pockets!

Blogger Tagatha said ... (10:36 AM) :

Lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:49 AM) :

The straight pants make the whole outfit outrageously somber. I like it. Sensible, the same style as the Asian lady with big specs had some photos down. No nonsense.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 AM) :

jcrew/redwing boots.
awesome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 AM) :

Red Wing boots are great for the winter. Good post!

Blogger Joey said ... (11:17 AM) :

Wow, I really love this. It's so like so Americana-influenced but unlike Bud-drinkin', gun-totin', deer-killin' "rednecks" (omg so many offensive stereotypes here haha), this is actually really, really lovely. I'm not sure how I feel about the beanie though...

Thanks Sart!

Blogger JULES said ... (11:41 AM) :

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (12:45 PM) :

i love his cloths, but the combination is...so and so.

Anonymous Jody Farnsworth said ... (12:55 PM) :

Classic Red Wing boots, exclusive to JCrew! Always a great statement, and a nice winter alternative for men.

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (1:36 PM) :

Have to force myself to look at the clothes. The total guy is so handsome!

The jacket is awesomely cool.

I love all the dark shades. And then the blonde lumberjack boots! The initial impression is very American, but upon closer inspection, it absolutely is not!

XX ;-)

Blogger R4TH said ... (1:52 PM) :

the red wing epidemic goes global-just say no!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:22 PM) :

Contrary to previous statements, the boots are not exclusive to jcrew. They can be purchased from red wing and numerous other places. Agree, nice boots though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:23 PM) :

hey, hey take it easy on the "looks American" we get somethings very right too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:21 PM) :

Jay is hot! Whatever he wears, really, he does it with such grace.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:48 PM) :

I really dig the quilted hunting jacket. I was looking for one of thse recently, did not find one to my satisfaction and got off the scent. I think I start looking for one again considering how great this guy looks in his...

Blogger Erik Hoff said ... (4:06 PM) :

The black cap is perfect for chilly windy days.

Blogger Fred said ... (4:25 PM) :

Looks nice with the 875 Red Wing Boots - and of course a cool jacket.
I like the twist with the boots and the troucers as well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:45 PM) :

Here in Canada, if you wear this, you're going hunting. If you're not, it just looks pretentious. His hat is called a toque. It's standard winter wear. He's handsome, and puts it together well, but it still looks ridiculous to me in an urban context.

Blogger CW said ... (4:50 PM) :

I'm laughing at some of the comments here. This man is dressed to work. This is not high fashion. If this man is wearing a Barbour coat, I would be very surprised. Similar coats can be found in any construction clothing catalog in the USA (e.g., Walls, Carhartt) and I'm sure there are similar catalogs and shops in Italy.

Blogger Filipe said ... (5:02 PM) :

He's very cool.

Blogger noelakadjtambour said ... (5:03 PM) :

the look is reminiscent of the 1930's to me

Blogger Hickers said ... (5:23 PM) :

The Redwing debate is interesting. They have been ubiquitous for years in London, and I've developed lots of blisters over the years wearing mine in, as the preferred look has always been when they have been lovingly battered (see pictures on this site over the last couple of years).
It's not often that you see new ones out and about, so good to see the positive reaction to these, as I have just bought a new pair of these exact ones, ready for next winter.
Is buying the 'distressed' ones from J Crew not cheating? Wear your own clothes in kids!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:48 PM) :

love the narrow proportions

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

What happened? I thought it was Spring?

Nice jacket- but walk around the village for 10 seconds and you'll trip over a half dozen guys that look just like him.

Anonymous Steven said ... (9:49 PM) :

junya junya junya

Anonymous The Burlap Smack said ... (11:18 PM) :

um im totally afraid of this guy. if thats the intended effect, congrats; otherwise, i'm really not feeling his outfit.

Blogger THE DAY AFTER YOU DIE said ... (11:27 PM) :

I was at my friends house the other day and he had these boots. i had to ask the 20 questions about them . with boots the toe just cant be too wide esp. with a skinny pant. oh and yes break them in yourself because finding a cool boot, in your size, that aren't thrashed is next to impossible.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 PM) :

is that jay massacret?

Blogger Henke S said ... (5:14 AM) :

Really really nice

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:48 AM) :

That's so cool. That's exactly what I'd like to see my boyfriend wearing. I feel Red Wing shoes give a real twist to the grey/black choice. Very urban.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:18 AM) :

He needs a shot of color. Maybe flourescent orange?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:48 AM) :

oh my, yummy.

Anonymous Garry said ... (10:38 AM) :

This is a look that i think really works wellout of context.

Yes its very American work wear/ hunter and in North America it would not be the unusal but in the city of Milan i would expect it to be different.

I find it quite interesting how a look can become very interesting when looked at out of its national or local context.

I work in the oil and gas industry in Canada and se guys like this allthe time but here it looks interesting - everyday it doesn't.

Blogger Breathless said ... (12:53 PM) :

low key sexy. I like it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:08 PM) :

he looks as if he is in a first person shooter video game...

Blogger kmoonan said ... (10:09 PM) :

what kind of jacket is this?

Anonymous Amber said ... (12:17 AM) :

Oh he's quite gorgeous...Yummy...

Anonymous Fio V said ... (12:43 AM) :

The only thing that i think is nice on this man are the shoes, the rest...sends a very agressive message. I would hold on to my purse unconsiously if i ran into him at night, and i don't mean that in an offensive way at all it's just what his clothes tell me.

Blogger t. said ... (2:34 AM) :

perfect.

Blogger Amanda said ... (9:15 AM) :

he's like a lop-sided man, with the one pant tucked in and the 3 pocket jacket. It looks kind of uncomfortable but i like it...

Anonymous Duncan said ... (4:00 PM) :

Where have you lot been hiding? Red Wings - London's been all over them years.

This is all about the trousers (pants my American cousins...)though - great cut.

Winter's almost over, but this gives us something to look forward to!

Blogger vjperera said ... (5:16 PM) :

ditto on the trousers. Great special forces/deer hunter look!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:19 PM) :

He's GORGEOUS!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:57 PM) :

Gorgeously well put together! The look is definately a head-turner.

Blogger glow owl said ... (7:55 PM) :

he is delicious.

Blogger Wolves said ... (10:05 PM) :

This looks pretty perfect if you ask me. The tri-pocket coat and the slim-but-not-tight cut of the slacks with a simple beanie up top--small variations on a classic theme.

Who makes the coat? I know my american workwear inside out, and this smells of high fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 AM) :

Hey Surly Canadian. Please don't speak for all of us. I happen to think it's not pretentious for a man to wear work clothes in an urban context. People should wear what they feel comfortable in and he does that very well.

Anonymous michelle said ... (7:20 AM) :

He is perfect, i need him

Blogger nari. said ... (12:47 PM) :

his jacket looks like junya's AW09, but not as breath-taking.... still nice, tho

Blogger bonneyboys said ... (12:06 AM) :

Context Men's boutique in Madison, WI has singlehandedly brought Red Wings into popularity here paired with selvedge denim. But I remember my friend Damien Jurado wearing his 10 years ago for the sheer practicality and durability long before anyone thought of them as fashionable.

Blogger megwood said ... (9:37 PM) :

slightly aitor throup-ish.

Blogger frank adam said ... (12:40 AM) :

I'm not really feeling this guy. The boots are great, Red Wings I believe, but the other parts of the get up make him look like a Russian hit man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 AM) :

metal gear solid!!!

Blogger Mark Harris said ... (3:47 PM) :

Awesome.
Night stalker chic.
Fits him well.
