genius colour. genius proportions.
Beautiful coat! Colors are pretty together.

Mary Poppins ? The Sound of Music ? Cute anyway...!
I love how the wind caught the skirt. Beautiful red colour, I also like it how she added the pale blue and combined it with black.
The greyish blue is just a stunning backdrop to that vibrant red coat, love its cute buttons! And topped with that hat = gorgeous!
Oh it's her again! I love her. Look at that red coat! beautiful, and the way the wind is catching her skirt...amazing. Love the background colour!
Well - it made me laugh!
Ah! The red feather in her hat! The tiny buttons down the front of her skirt and the belt sitting low and thin on the waistband are stunning! I love the blue of that wall. I love this.
Nowhere do I find as much personal style inspiration (which is what I'm interested in above fashion) as on your blog! Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos of beautiful people.
Daphne
love it ~ ~
Love the red! Splashed with colors! Blended all!
Beautiful picture! The colours are vivid and the composition is very interesting with the movement in the skirt. A piece of art!
red - is the perfect color to get you through march. i think she looks fabulous - the black tights make it.
Sound of Music?
recently i've felt you've been posting a lot of photos of people following trends rather than displaying their personal style. I know it's difficult because of fashion week/s and people log into The Sartorialist expecting to see new and exciting pictures all the time and that must be a lot of pressure, but love it or loathe it this lady has a strong personal look going on that is interesting and different. I love the red feather and the hardware on her bag. It's a strong individual look and i admire that.
(Glad the scary black insect didn't attack your camera, must have been close....)
The Shoes are excellent.
love it! Can anyone id her shoes?
this is SUCH a darling look!!
reminds me of a whimsical character in a novel ... a semi-modern mary poppins or something!
it all coordinates ... and the feather in her cap! ::sigh:: :)
I'm not really a huge fan of the look (I am loving the coat), but this image? Rocks. Love the way she pops on the background and the movement of the skirt!
amazing shot.
damn she is wonderful. so unique and recognizable.
Perfection!
Love the red coat and the camel colored skirt!
Love her style, it looks very simplist with a childish top , a vintage skirt and the docs, whereas it's really interesting by looking at her morphology, I couldn't do that, anyway, I'm not enough thin .
new posts on mainchicavenue.blogspot.com
By the way, I'm looking for a new camera, and I would like to shoot grand quality photos, so I question each blog I love photos about his/her camera, so what's yours ?
Wow, she look good. Great background too.
This is perfection. I love her coat, hat and the blue sweater
Red, White and Blue, my fav color combo.
Plus the great proportions and the brilliant choice of foot wear equals an outstanding ensemble!
This photo is so visually arresting! The red against blue is striking, and I love the contrast between the sharp military-inspired coat and boots and the soft skirt blowing in the wind. Lovely!
Oh, there she is: Mary Poppins!
What a whimsical ensemble. She looks like she popped out of a book. I adore her hat!
This is that same girl with the tweed skirt from last week! My goodness, isn't she just the best! I might like this look on her just a bit! Such perfection!
First reaction: WOW. She's a Madeline-turned-modern-day Mary Poppins: adorable and sweet, yet sophisticated, bright, and fun! Lovely work!
What a great color combo! I love her shoes and her skirt.....especially the way she belted it! And the length of the skirt is just perfect. She is totally owning this look!
Everything about this look is perfect. It's the first time I've actually wanted to wear a skirt that long.
The most awesome librarian's outfit, like, ever?! Seriously. I want her to work around books.
Beautiful!
this is a nice amazing mix of colour...
the blue remind me of summer
the colour of the dress remind me of desert
this pic is greate and the lady, too
She looks lovely...X
This reminded me of The Sound of Music. I think it's the hat.
I just love this look!!!
The skirt, the hat, the coat, the shirt with the lace? bow? tie? I'm not quite sure what it is, but it worked.
It's just so refreshing. Loved it.
Her outfit is amazing! How effortless it all looks. And what great timing for that breeze.
The color palette of this photo is utterly beautiful! Breathless
A modern day little red riding hood. The North Wind smiles upon her.
I love it. No pigeon toes!
I love this picture! It's so amazing!
hey,
it looks very nice, a little bit of modern bavarian
oooo i love this. very mary poppins.
Boy would I like to gobble this little red riding hood up!
I love the bright red against the muted blue and black accents.
What a stunning color scheme, and the perfect backdrop color as well.
perfect blue backdrop to complement the beautiful red jacket (and feather, of course)
She was a good Amish girl until she found that red coat.
Her hat, her coat, her skirt, and the sweet little bow around her neck... she's perfect.
D:
SO PRETTY!
She looks adorable. So gamine. The blue wall is wonderful, too.
THIS S!@TS DEEP! I LOVE IT! MARY POPPINS/COLOURS/FIT/ DAYUM!
what a shot!
her and your photo are transporting to a magical land far, far away.
She is an interesting girl. I like her style and her monalisa smile.
I thought she was black in the other shot but now I think she's Latina. Whatever she is, she rocks.
Love that Alpine chapeau.
a great combination! fashion should always be about enhanced creativity and individuality, just like in this picture.
I love the coat. I wish I was more bold with my wardrobe selections.
mmmm....I'm not sure. I don't know if this look like or not. Maybe...
This is simply adorable!
Perfect background.
divine. reminds be of roman holiday-meets-sound of music-meets-my fair lady...all in a good way.
It's not about trends or branding. It's about how those things apply to you. This girl just gets it.
Hey, it's her again! Who is she? I love these costumes she creates, they're surreal, and yet she makes them believable and somehow very 'now'. It's magical!
The red coat and red feather in her hat are quite fun and bright on this impish woman. I like how all the colors work together, buuuuut there's something a little a-sexual(?) here. Maybe undo a few buttons to hint at cleavage or try a more feminine shoe.
perfect and petite, she is a little present! she just neeeds a big ribbon!
perfect and petite, she is a doll, a present!
lovely combination of colors :)
cute! nice little touches; love the coat. is that heeled doc martens? anybody knows where to get them?
I absolutely adore this. It's like a British palace guard.
I absolutely adore this. It's like a British palace guard.
like a painting.. .
sigh...this woman would totally take you on the greatest NYC style adventure....double breasted is in!
This is a girl who always pays attention to every last little detail. She's brilliant. Love her!
I Love the feather in her hat
I think that she is darling. I love the red coat and the red feather. Nice touch.
I LOVE her!! All of the colours she has on are just so dreamy and how on earth did (I'm going to call her 'Lady in Red' for now) manage to make those Dr Martens look so darn elegant! DREAMY! Tiffany xoxo
this is beyond fantastic. i never thought i would be into a skirt this length, but this THAT jacket and THOSE boots, it's lovely.
Ridiculously cute, amazing, and perfect! The red feather in the hat ties it all off.
i love how she so effortlessly combines like 4 different styles into one awesome one that works so well on her.
Very inspiring!!! Some alterations on the rock and the coat and it would be perfect..... and of course: Girl, stand up right!!!
Thank you, Scott.
wow, she looks great! Nice shot
That hat reminds me of my second cousins hunting hat except his is green. That coat is phenomenal, bright military coat, I love the brassy buttons. And the ribbed shirt with the black ribbon, kinda' reminds me of and old fashioned school teacher, but classier!
-R
P.S.Lub the shoes
My favorite girl I've seen on here. Love everything--down to the cute hat.
amazing coat!
Love the long skirt.
She looks absolutly amazing. Nice wind-effect.
Such a wonderful outfit. Stylishly conservative contrasted with a bold red coat. The black trim frames the other colors nicely.
Oooh! The lovely girl again. She is my favorite of yours, now. She was so cute in that blue polka dot blouse/tweed skirt/cute hat photo. And there's that nice bright splash of red again.
What an incredible beauty! Amazing captured, as always!
Some great stuff going on here. Love the blue background contrasting with the red coat. Love the flow of the skirt, the contrast of the coat with the neutral skirt and top. Love the bow around her neck. And the hat, oh the hat completes it.
Hmmm. I can't tell it if I like it because of the blue wall behind her - she might have to walk around with that all day if so.
I appreciate all the pieces, just together it's a bit much. I'm thinking perhaps if she lost the tie (bow tie?) it might work better because it's making it too busy for my eyes.
Otherwise I like the use of black as outfit anchors.
this one's so pretty! i love the skirt and her hat, and the pop of blue that comes from her top. the picture itself looks like art though. beautiful : )
this is stunning. i love the subtle blue to mix it up a bit. it would have been a bit too matchy otherwise IMO
fairlight
Great use of color to both of you!
this is stunning. i love the subtle blue to mix it up a bit. it would have been a bit too matchy otherwise IMO

that jacket is wonderful and the skirt has such movement. how great!
Channeling the Sound of Music?
Woody Allen would cast her in a second! There is a large nod to Victorian era recently, shoes, tie, and hat...seems fashion is taking a humble look around and reminiscing about bygone days. She should be running an orphanage.
You even conjured up the perfect whisp of wind in her skirt...
this is one of those images that you'll be remembered for ... imho ... it's fantastic!
Hmmm, I do like the red and light blue together, but I suspect the silence is because nothing else really works. Skirt is too long and shapeless, black tights, hat, and little necktie conspire to give this an elfin/witchy look altogether.
It is nice to see some color, though.
I love that combination of colours...definitely gorgeous!!and the hat is awesome!
You had her recently. On the one hand, I admire the thought put into this. On the other hand, I don't like it for being too calculated, too much of a costume. Tyrolean hat with red feather that is repeated in the coat, little black bow tie, anti-fashion boots... I appreciate the calculations, but say no thanks.
Beautiful coat! Wow! And I love the whole look. If you see her tell her she does great styling.
My eyes melted when i saw this photograph... this is just amazing.
Cute jacket, cute shoes and skirt. Not crazy about the hat, although she wears it well.
I love this picture. I love the gust of wind that caught her skirt and how the background offsets the shirt under her coat. That coat is also a stunner. She has an Amelie-esque quality to her, non?
I love the long skirt with buttons. Beautiful for windy days.
This girl is absolutely 100% DROP. DEAD. GORGEOUS! Bravo. the shot is amazing. Everything about this is amazing. Is this the same girl from a prior post a few days back? If so, anyone know who she is? ;)
beautiful!i love the red coat in front of the blue background!so vivid!
shoes are balenciaga
She looks much older than she is with that outfit.. I'm sorry.!
She makes me want to yodel...in a good way.
love the coat, love the hat, love the shoes, loooooove the "tie"!!!!
where is this girl shopping?
yes, a beautiful modern day mary poppins!
i see the fedora is very happening in NYC. it's a great hat since it came out.
Hey, I recognize that hat. I really like this look.
lovely!
I love how the wind caught the skirt in this photo. Beautiful!
beautiful red! and i love the outfit...lovely colors! =)
just so freaking fabulous
Amazing photo, like the the modern Venus of Samotracia's dress rippling in the air. Lovely!
Great coat-hat-handbag combo... could imagine these same three things with several different outfits underneath....
And could imagine the skirt-shirt-tank-tie combo with other things on top! And of course they all work sooo well together as we see here. Very cool.
omg! love it. the cutest outfit ever.
It’s so nice site. We love to see more on this site. Keep on updating… MonkAreYou Bali
*fufgfue
she looks cute in her outfit! she reminds me of Mary Poppins :P
The whole outfit and pic make me smile. What a great capture of a person and mement
feels like London in late 70s..:D
..I like !

brilliant!
Adorable!
heidi is in town, left switzerland.... i like how the wind play with her clothes. great style!
Brilliant update of Regency style. She's going to elope with a soldier, like some naughty Jane Austen character. I think it's the colours, especially, which make me think of the period: just the right blue and fawn against the red coat. Nice.
Glad to see this woman again. I loved her last look that was posted her. In this one, I'm noticing the touches of black that balance her shoes and bring the other colors together. Great hat, that she had on in the other photo a couple weeks ago. Very individual how she's choosing to wear her skirts above her waistline, apparently. It works on her figure. I'm not quite sold on the color of the skirt with the red coat, though overall I love the entire thing.
a touch of bavaria
Adorable, like a Manet painting come to life, only friendlier. More, please!
one word: WOW!
this is a picture for your book! brilliant.
I agree--whoever said this look was a shot of current trends is missing the tastefulness that makes the whole thing hang together. She makes people think of The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins; but if you look at the styling in those films (and why not My Fair Lady while you're at it), you won't find this look. That's the genius here, the Jedi mind trick. And the photo, with its staging and timing, is brilliant.
I love this picture, it's just incredible.
The girl looks totally adorable.
can you say strait from an edition of vogue?!
beautiful. she looks like a sophisticated little fairy!!
omg. She's my favorite. Please you should a series on JUST her!
givenchy bag? balenciaga shoes? if im not mistaken- that coat is marc jacobs collection from 2003/4?? (forgive me if im wrong) this girl is fooling everyone! the thing is that she is high-fashion but is playing it so under the radar, nobody knows it by first glance. the epitome of excellent style and excellent taste.
She's glorious & confident in her identity. I adore her for transporting us to another, more elegant era -- she's a mix of the 1940s, 1930s, 1880s, and 1910!
And credit to you for photographing her against a chambray background to bring out her colors.
I love his clothes but I prefer her sweet face! Looks so adoreble! ♥
I love the skirt getting blown away by the wind!
She is wearing the skirt 2 or 3 inches too high. The jacket looks too tight to close. Very school-girlish. This look is immature for any woman out of college.
Viewed apart from everything else, the hat works for her.
Wow. She's adorable. And a fashion descendant of Diane Keaton.
This girl again! I want to raid her closet...
Unique. And beautiful
beautiful coat
Genius. Possibly one of the most dramatic and amazing pictures you have taken for a while. I love how comfortable she looks and the colour combintaions along with girlie yet tomboyish is a perfect mix. 10/10.
I love the Germanic feel achieved; especially the hat with feather in!
Very together, from head to toe. The gust of wind captures the moment.
Ohhhhh LOVE!!!!
feels like she is Robbin Good's girlfriend?))))
You are a genious! Come to sweden soon!
the feather is great!
absolutely adorable! i want to paint this!!!
BEST.
well,well!!
delightful
Love the bright pop of color with the jacket and feather. Had it not been for that feather, the whole look would've been thrown a bit off, but this woman definitely has style.
i want to be you
adorable. somewhat Americana in a sort of way
lovely.
this made me gasp. beautiful!
i want the coat!!
I love that red coat!. But now thinking of that I use red for clothes but not that much when I paint. I want a red Coat!!!!!
Wow, who is this elf?
Fascinating.
one word.... WOW...
She has all the delicate, whimisical loveliness of Thomas Lawrence's 'Pinkie' mixed with the dignified classicism of Delacroix's 'Liberty Leading the People.'
Beautiful!
Oh, her clothes are just lovely! I love the different lengths of her clothes and her uses of colour. Delightful.
Great shot of great individual style here!
great look!
I love that bow tie
I love the movement of her skirt, and the colour pop of her coat. This look really works for her. And as for the over-sized clutch...perfecto!! She looks fabulous!
that wind is eteral!
love this photo would like to know if you found her walking past that amazing wall or if you placed her there? Either way its a thrilling combo!!!
I am feeling Bavarian orphan goes to london is given shelter by a horse guard at buckingham palace then gets an early lady diana complex..love it stark individuality!
amazinnnng ;) colours !!
Pretty sure the shoes are Balenciaga as someone previously said. They were on yoox not too long ago.
Oh! the peach and red and blue and black.
I just love it.
:)
Swiss Alpine girl goes to NYC, finds secretary job, runs into the Sartorialist ;)
very much agree with comments saying this girl has very strong personal style, however, the legth and colour of her skirt brings to mind the calf length skirts from Dolce & Gabanna Fall 08 collection. i've no idea whether this was intentional or spontaneoues, either way the whole look is gorgeous!
p.s i LOVE that length/type/colour of skirt, anyone know were to get one?
Fabulous! She looks like Amelie in another 10 years. That coat is to die for!
I would murder for a print of this. I've had it saved in my RSS reader for months now, and it makes me smile every time.
Whoah! Since when is a beige skirt and black tights chic? Not to mention beige and bright red? Settle down!
Since when? Since now! (to answer "anonymous" above)
I too come back to this photo from time to time! Brilliant and perfect. More of her please!
JEN KRAKO!
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! The colors, the movement, the details and her gentle shy demeanor. I would hang this picture on my wall. I love it.
love love love. Great photography. She looks great!
Little red riding hood possibly? all grown up and so gorgeous. Love the the buttons on the coat.
perfect!!!
I love this - her quirky non-conformity is emphasized by unusual lengths and splashes of red. The hints of black all over in her satchel, footwear and accessories help steer it away from overthetop gamine.
xxx
umm it's amAzing!!!
no better word to discribe it
