Comments on "On the Street....Sand, Grey and Brown, Florence"
I aspire to be this chic when I am her age. Amazing!
Wow, adorable!
Classic, refined, bohemian chic beauty. Love the natural color palate. Thank you for including a woman of a certain age. These women are less present than men on your blog.
I love this! The layering and colours suits any age or bodyshape and looks fantastic on her. The slick of lipstick and the "just so" buttoned coat sets it off perfectly.
Fantastic.
¡Genial!
Me encantaría tener esa imagen cuando llegue a mis setentas...
Wow. So long and lean. I love that despite all that material, texture, layering and folding that she still looks quite minimal to me.
That is a fantastic scarf!
What a fantastic image. This one reaches well beyond style/fashion. The expression on her face tells a thousand stories. This is truly art.
Thanks,
Dennis Cahlo
www.madetm.wordpress.com
She's fabulous! Love the color combo. the rolled up pant and the over sized scarf. Love her gray hair with it all also.
This is a very nice outfit. She, with that pose, hair and make up, makes it extraordinary!
She carries the look with such authority. Nice palette, in the photo as well as the outfit. Love the (linen?) coat and the way it's come to fit the wearer alone, as linen will do.
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous did I mention fabulous? I hope we are all looking this amazing at that age.
How chic is this lady!
Wishing my Grandma dressed like this...
t
Wow, most of the time, women her age dress themselves very dull. But this lady is very stylish!
WOW! I love this. Gorgeous!
What style!! If this is what this beauty looks like as a mature woman, she must have been stopping traffic a few years ago. And still may. Great Scott...or is that great shot?
Glad Man
so casually refined, this lady. she really knows how to wear cropped pants with ankle boots. the color combo is soft and beautiful.
what a beautiful woman. she is so chic. That coat is wonderful and I love the textured materials and her huge shawl underneath
Marvelous. Shows you don't have to be young or teetering on high heels to project beauty, class and confidence.
If my granny could dress like that... ...
The hair just makes the whole look.
loooove the hobo chic meets elegant grandma!!
www.snapsanddaps.blogspot.com
wow! who is this? She is incredible
Ahaaaah! Love! Please let me carry myself this way in 20+ years...
Oh my god! She is totally spectacular! I adore the coat (looks like Lilith)and the harmony of her scarf and her hair is stunning. The fact that she is of a "certain age" makes her all the more appealing. She rocks! And she looks so at home and good in her skin. Very European. One of my all-time favorites. Magnificent.........
The incomparable beauty of egocentric aging...
I've no idea who this woman might be, but she's an outstanding example of someone supremely confident of who she is, the impression she means to leave in her wake. I'm certain that her presence commands attention wherever she goes.
I hope that when you publish your book, it contains a good representation of such people--men and women whose faces, carriage and personal style map their lives.
How distinguished! Love her ensemble
Her hair is so perfect and her clothes so battered - that and the proportions make her a fascinating study in incongruence.
love her look. the coat left open to show the scarf fringe. love the scarf not bundled around her neck. keeps her warm without bulking up the narrow coat. colors incredible with her hair. like the brown w/ the grey. love the short pant and heavy boot (probably for comfort and warmth) but adds style and heft to the bottom half. she looks like a natural at making her cool weather clothes attractive.
Everything about this image is so powerful...the gigantic crinkled coat, the oversized scarf and those shoes that seem out of character but somehow they work..her rigorous hairdo, the dark lipstick and the amazing strength you can see in her eyes...this image is truly hypnotic.
this is by far the best shot you've ever taken. i'm blown away
i like that she played with proportions
Very inspiring!
So many women give up on expressing themselves once they reach a certain age. Don't give up!!
Beautiful. She looks like she's hust stepped out of a fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson or an illustration by Eedmund du Lac
That is one funky granny we have here
oooooh she's amazing.
¿No es Eloisa Berceo?
she's FABULOUS.
very poetic style
Wow. Just...wow.
I think I've just experienced a major paradigm shift. This is how it's done.
oh, it is always so nice to watch older women with real sense of style, dignity...
her scarf making this outfit casualy chick!
The color combination is nice and I love the streak of black hair, but I don't love the overall look. TI assume it was better in person.
fantastic! I can only hope i'd have this much style and grace in the years ahead. nice shot!
she's an inspiration for women of all ages. but i especially love her ankle workboots and cropped pants. so comfortable and unpretentiously chic.
exquisite
So elegant!
so natural beauty and elegant. The face is just magic
I want that coat!!!!!!!!!
Amazing woman with so free and boheme style!
all the layers seem so free-flowing; i love it!
She makes me look forward to aging!
Sart, your photographic eye is the best there is!
beautiful jacket, and that hair = amazing style
Im 95% sure that this lady is Eloisa Bercero, a Spanish lady basically known for her love to fashion, the huge amounts of money she spends on it and for being one of the very lucky and few regular customers of the haute couture ateliers. the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo” did a great interview with her some years ago where she showed part of her incredible collection of vintage and current haute couture clothes.
Why do I feel like I know this woman?
Anyway, her look is great. I'm loving the distance between her boot tops and her trouser hem.
man. i'm 33 and i rarely look as good as this woman. bravo, senora.
Now this is how you do hobo chic! Lovely.
Energie
Oh wow, words are failing. She is so classic and timeless and chic. I love that her lips are the only source of color, its such a nice touch.
The photo is beautiful, as always, Mr. S. It's one of your August Sander moments, an image with a great deal of subtext.
This shot is A-MAZING! Speaking from my completely clueless American image of Italian women--this is what I envision. There is something so incredibly bohemian chic, in an unstudied way. Did she give a lot of thought to this when she got dressed that day or is this is just how she dresses without giving it much thought? What a a great shot and a beautiful woman.
Dios mío!. Esto si que es tener ESTILO. Irradia vanguardia y personalidad. Perfecta!!!
I think she's Eloísa Berceo, the haute-couture Spanish coleccionist. Distinguished.
i love this. i'm 22 and would definitely wear this today.
Such cool sophistication - and she makes it look so effortless: truly chic.
I love it when old ladies (and men) dress so well!
I feel like I'll just be echoing everyone, but this lady is magnificent: She is beautiful by sheer force of presence. Her stance and glance pierces through you with pure confidence. She leaves all the fashion-victims with their "it" bags and heels in pigeon-toe pose in the dust...
BTW, to Dan in Richmond: I believe the material of her coat is boiled wool, a signature of Comme de Garcons.
PLO
Yes, chic, certainly...but isn't there a slightly sad Miss Havisham quality about her?
The coat is simply amazing, I like it more than everything else! Anyway, I think the great thing is the detail in her hair.
You know what I really love about this? It almost looks punk rock to me. And I could imagine this look on so many different types of people, both men and women, old and young. Now that's pretty cool!
She looks so beautiful !
She dresses better than people half her age !!
Love the scarf, any idea what lavel/brand ??
(sorry, but I'm aterrible scarf addict)
:-D
only to prove that beauty and style are ageless... really hope to be like her when i get older. i really love it when i see real people wearing possible choices. love it!
Proof that a well-honed individual style is timeless, elegant and ageless.
The ease and simplicity with which she carries herself is surely indicative of the kind of person she must be. I suspect having coffee with this woman would prove to be quite delightful. I am most impressed by the fact that she doesn't use age nor gray hairs to limit her style sensibility; she is simply divine.
Strong gaze into the lens says it all. Love her!
ageless fashion!!! beautiful,,,,,,,
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!
she must be an artist, not concerned with trend but with beauty and style. I bet her home is equally as wonderful.
BEAUTY!
Maybe she was a model in her youth...
Fran Rosa =D
She's the same lady you've already taken the photo a year ago, isn't she ?
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qjpwnPW4c1o/R4f_UqdaHeI/AAAAAAAACyU/nL3xpBcD9co/s1600-h/ROBLK.jpg
She's stunning !
I love the way she used colors and textures, it really adds something to the entire ensemble. She looks perfect.
The tweed coat is the piece de resistance and palette palette palette. She's definitely the past present and future of unpretentious chic! Thanks for this foto!
This is wonderful. I would like to make friends with her, please.
love these colors together, classy lady.
beautiful
the ultimate funky Matriarch Mamma!
She is beautiful. I'd love to steal her coat. I also hope that the rapidly multiplying grey hairs on my head will look as lovely as hers.
She's gorgeous, I love her giant scarf! What a chic lady.

Breathtaking!
I love that you appreciate the style of people from all ages. We live in a world that forgets the older generation. Seeing images like this of older people makes not as scared to get older.
She is beautiful in such a classic way, sophisticated way. Quite wonderful.
Where can I get a coat like this? Love it!
cathyphillipsfashion.blogspot.com
looks like a Paul Harnden coat.
breathtaking.
This is one of my favourite outfits and photos that you've shown - thanks to you both for the inspiration!
A very elegant woman. I love the picture.
This might be my favorite shot of yours EVER! So elegant.
She has stories to tell.
I've been viewing your site since its inception and have never seen (ok, maybe Giovanna in D&G feather dress in Milan last Sept., but this is her in 30 years!) a more beautiful moment. Thank you.
I can see why you wanted to capture this woman on film...so elegant and natural- an example to us younger women!
Wonderful at her age! I like her scarf! I want to lose some weight when I seeing this picture......haha...
Yay...so chic...beauty really is ageless. Bravo.
She's a very cool dresser. Good find!
(by the way, the people who call her 'granny' and 'old lady' -- did you know that is very bad manners?)
What a lovely photo. Like a Giorgio di Chirico painting.
I want to run up and give her a cup of tea.
i would love to know her name and what she does (she is NOT eloisa bercero!)...ive been obsessed with her ever since you shot her in that long rick owens puffer
Aw Nonna I hope everything is ok. She's so cute and I love her outfit but her expression is breaking my heart.
she's beautiful.
it's funny that in your last post you wrote about how you hate writing headlines for each photo because i've always imagined that to be the case...
i usually scroll to the photo before reading the headline and then try to tie the two together. i was so certain you'd call this one "sand and stone"
:) xxo
I like the boots.
I adore this, so amazing, I hope I can look and be this fabulous when I grow up.
This is PITTI "Devoutchka" , i had lunch with her and Thierry Croise at Pitti's Press cantine, she is so fun.
Sure I'll met again in Tranoï in Paris.

She is Eloisa Bercero, one of the few women in the world that buy haute couture dresses. She has an amazing closet and is considered as one of the most elegant women in the world.
Very chic. I don't understand why people worry about getting gray hair. It's so graceful...
perfect combination for such a modern granny! I love her scarf and how she's put together the colours, volumes and textures. and her hairdo!
The title could have been "super granny" ;-) :-P
Regards from Barcelona!
(When are you coming up and visiting us?)
Wow. That is my hair. I am going out to buy red lipstick today.
I love the picture,
chic lady
Where can you even get a coat like that??????
How wonderful to discover the existence of Eloisa Bercero, whether or not this is the lady herself pictured. I googled her and was just charmed. Such a lovely discovery. If this woman isn't Ms. Bercero, then she is lucky to be mistaken for her!
Breathtaking.
good color palette.. appropriate !
Max
Actually her name is Ana and she own a boutique in Paris. She is very sweet and one of the most vibrant people I know! I can't believe Scott got her to stand still for long enough to take this picture! :)
Hello to everyone!
A few mysteries revealed:
The coat is Paul Harnden —
Attenzione, the lady's NOT a granny (yet) —
And she's NOT Eloisa Bercero
Trust me, she's MY MUM.
Loved it until scrolled down - ew the boots.
Wow, wow, wow!! I love her! I wish I could see the back of the coat.
This is the most beautiful photo I've ever seen on this great site. I'm actually holding back tears looking at it here at work. I agree with the other person who said it is rude to call her granny though. Woman of a certain age is a much better descriptor. She doesn't look any older than a lot of the men that are featured regularly on this site anyway. But her ageless style, her confidence, is awe inspiring. Sartorialist, more women of a certain age, please!
a beautiful lady of her age~
is she wearing a coat from 45rpm. something about the fabrics and the collar and the buttons hehe or its just my mistake haha
Love the long scarf!
What a great face! I love her hair, but I think my favorite thing about this woman is that she does not look in the least glamorous, but she still manages to work that lip shade beautifully.
This is someone that I would love to drink a rich dark tea with.
she is not Eloisa Bercero. she is originaly armenian, speaking good french and russian, working in fashion press and communication, nice person. I had lunch with her at Pitti press cantine.

A role model; I want to look just like her when I'm that age.
PERFECTION! What a display of superior knowledge of proportion! I'm in awe. Stunning! I bow.
ingenious!!!!
Please would the lucky and heplful offspring of this lovely lady also tell us where the scarf is from?!
The bottom of the coat looks really interesting. And I love the proportion of the short pants with the ankle boots. Well played, madam!
I want to know her life story! She looks like shes seen a few things and been a few places; It shows in her laid-back bohemian style... it's beautiful!
Lisa- London, UK
PERFECT
This image of ageless chic inspires my first comment to your site. I hope you will continue to include images older women who do not bow to style but use it as a language to express themselves. It's so tiresome to always be inundated with the beauty of youth when that is only one aspect of style. This woman speaks to me. Thank you!
One of the best pictures I have seen in here. I really love it!
She is so cool! The slim pants and ankle boots give her outfit a playful twist. The rest is enviously casual/elegant/boho. But the best thing is that it is timeless. I love it.
I love the picture: the way she dresses and the whole entourage is what make this image so powerful. very nice shot!
I like the look, but I will try to imagine that those boots work with the whole style... at the moment I can imagine plent of better boots..
by the way, she's amazing!
My goodness, the pure grace and elegance. I love the outfit but what I love more is the look in her eyes. Absolutely beautiful.
To LIBRARIAN from the L&H OFFSPRING:
The scarf should be Faliero Sarti, if I'm not mistaken...
Besides, PHILIPPE / 5:58pm is right. That small thing on the breast pocket is in fact the Armenian national flag.
スカーフとロングコートのコンビネーションがすばらしい!!!
真似しちゃいます☆
So good combination-scarf and longcoat-I should steal her Fashion☆
so gorgeous...!!
So gorgeous.
The look describes her just like I said with the man
the pink suit. she looks beautiful.-Sosie from
www.sosiesblog.blogspot.com
i want to look like this when i'm her age. she looks like such an interesting person, i wish i knew more people like her!
Stunning.
so freaking incredible!!!!!!!!!
fabulous! the coat and layering makes her seem earthly and organic ... like a tree
wonderful image.... so beautiful
I keep coming back to this photo. Love the boots, the slim cropped cuffed pant, the texture of the coat and her beautiful gray hair and rid lips. Bella! Bella!
This is pear-shaped if I've ever seen it. The only thing is, I think she probably has quite thin hips. There's just too much bulk! If the scarf or jacket (not both) cut-off at the waist this would be a winner.
This is completely breathtaking. It's almost Dickensian, but at the same time speaks of Miuccia, Limi Feu, everything modern. I don't have the words to properly describe it, but it must be said that the look on her face is the most amazing thing of all. Bravo.
WHAT a woman. It's all esthetics,my friend...
Wow, I am completely blown away. This picture is just...perfect. She has to be one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen.
This has to be one of the chicest people you've ever photographed.
/Miriam
perfection!
Beautiful, classy...
Finally, a charming, chic women with lots of style and ... silver hair... fabulous... as I am also in the same age bracket I suspect this wonderful woman occupies, I appreciate seeing what can be done when stilettos and leggings are not really a good choice.. keep more of these divine, creative women in the "list". I love your work and gain courage with each months displays..
Very chic.
Please, include more photos of elegant mature women in your blog.
It's very inspiring.
Those red lips just kill me (in a good way).
Magnificent.
The Silver Fox Lady II.
I thougt the beauty of the old photo, (by the way, Would you put the two of them side by side?) was the look in her eyes, and the arch framing he figure, but there is no arch here, just her, and this photo is as stunning as the old one.
I would love to meet her in person. She must be something
she can't be more elegant and graceful, beautiful!
i want to be this woman when i grow up. she's transcendent.
Isn't she elegant!
for pictures like that i love this blog! and for performance like that women did i like fashion ! magic!
This photo gives me hope that it IS possible to age and still create enviable looks that are appropriate and delightful. What a treat! Never give up!
Superb!
Thank you for posting this! I, too, have refused to color or cut my hair and wear it, gloriously grey, in this same style! Ditto for the red lipstick! You photo of this lovely lady strengthens my reserve to ignore those who advise me to "update" my look. I say this is a classic!
Love this womans' complete look - fabulous!
Since a few asked the coat she is wearing is by Paul Harnden.
She´s Elisea Berceo. She´s a spaniard. She´s one of the few women in the world who wears Hauté Couture.
she's amazing
love her style.
so chic, so stylish,
and soooo classic.
i wish i could be as beautiful as her when i am her age.
She is an ever-evolving gift!
What a beauty. Lovely to se a mature lady on your blog, would love to see more of them.
No other country is more inspiring than Italy!
she looks so amazing for her age. i hope to look this good..now!
This woman is a Spanish millionaire, called Eloísa Bercero, she was on TV showing her wardrobe - a whole apartment in Madrid city centre.
This could be my favorite of yours. It is truly inspiring to see a woman of her age being more stylin' than most teenagers I know. The detail, both effortless and not, is stunning.. her pants for instance, and that gorgeous oversized scarf. Truly wonderful.
She looks great in Paul Harnden. Nice picture
