Comments on "On the Street....The Right Fit DB, NYC"
brilliant. this is what got me hooked on the site in the first place.
Amazingly proper. Sharp. Nice colors. I'm a huge fan of this look.
perfect. knit tie + pocket (square?) is incredible.
Mory has done it again!! I'm coming for you buddy.....
I need to see the shoes. I know Mory has just the right thing on the bottom to finish this off.
great use of textures and patterns! great look
fantastic! this makes me smile!
That is a beautifully made suit, worn well. Almost a piece of art!
this is sharp!
what is that wonderful thing in his pocket? Just splendid!
He looks very smart
his pocket square is so immaculate and amazing!
Excellent fit. Sumptuous palette.
Am I the only one getting larger/full size images?
It looks splendid.
The suit fits him so well, the red tie just pulls it all together.
This is impeccable. Very "Polo Ralph Lauren". I love the double breasted suit. And the sleeve length- perfect! Just the right amount of shirt showing.
bold and beautiful.
Exquisite!
flawless and with a pretty smile.
really lovely
Sart,
About how tall is Mory? Just trying to compare him to myself as I get ideas about proportions...
Oh, how I love the texture and color of that tie!
Absolutely stunning. Every detail is perfect and I have to wonder about the shoes.
Love the new BIG pictures!
I'm normally not a fan of double-breasted suits, but this one right here may have completely changed my mind on them. The pocket square's a nice touch, too.
What a lovely suit and look. Not to mention a spectacularly gorgeous man.
i can't help being overwhelmed by this thought sometimes: "OK there's a guy called Mory in NY, whose father is a diplomat and himself in some sort of fashion business. by the help of GQ and The Sartorialist you get acquainted to the guy and he becomes someone you know, occasionally see and follow!!..oh mory wore DB, wow mory had a beautiful dimple on the tie etc..isn't that overly amazing?"
a very nice cut btw. the color and the texture of the fabric adds up too..
How did you get your photos to post larger? I would love to know!
classe!
Hey Scott, did you changed the settings of your blog? The pictures seem bigger. Not that I don't like it...it's even better this way.
Good photo. As always. ;)
Wow! Rust and brown Glen Plaid, just stunning. He picked that fabric out.
oh noo! what did you do with the pictures?! i now can't see them in entire!
He looks quite cheerful!
his look breathes "warmth" !
See how nice the finishing looks on his pochette and I'm glad the tricot cravatte is back in style ...
I love his style:)
Nice! The colors are very warm. :)
Just awesome! What an attitude!
Aww!! Mory is back! Now all we need is a designer interview and I will be in heaven!
Very nice!
Stunning, as always! Love the pocket square.
beautiful colors
Gorgeous, stunning, just perfect! I'm loving the colors as well as the fit.
I adore that suit! Every man wearing that would be sexy!
Exquisite light and the suit's coloring with his skin tone is just beautiful. Maybe the best double breasted look since Cary Grant!
LOVE your larger photo format Sart- thank you!
fresh. perfect fit. gorgeous colors. he's beautiful, too. love it. perfect fit.
love the new photo size
does your shots justice.
*bisous*
Dreamy!
Lookin' good!
Best photo I've seen on here in a minute. The pocket square is the underdog that steals the show.
Looking smoooo oooth! Great find sartorialist - love the pattern on the fabric of his suit, and the colour. Fire red tie is like the proverbial cherry on top!
Best Dressed Man in America?
sexy and perfect golden light. ahh. hot.
That is one very sharp suit. My only critique would be that the armholes seem a bit too wide. The knot in the tie could also be a bit more stylish.
Great photo! Among the best ones i've seen in such a long time...lovely outfit and light for the picture...GREAT !
X
Mory!!!
Besides the perfect fit, he's giving us a pattern and color lesson.
The knit tie, with the more formal DB, is fresh too!
Just have to say the bigger pictures are great! Great work as always!
Not a fan of the expanded photos. To see the full picture, I now have to scroll, which takes away from the visual impact; the overall photo composition is lost into pieces.
I'd love it if the pictures were slightly shrunken so that they fit within a standard computer screen.
Thanks to other posters I now know this lovely creature's name. Now Sart - can you ask him if he's available - for anything? I think I love him! :o)
I miss the old format! I liked smaller pictures that I could click on to see all the details in larger format. Any chance of reverting to the past? Here's one vote for it.
LOVE the color combinations!
Yes, it's so much easier to see the details now!
I'm loving this fella's suit, too...
Gangster look, but the square is too poofy for my taste.
the new image size is great! you see all details more...ehhh detailed :) anyway, great!
Looks like he's a contende for the SartoriaList??
Unfortunately, for a lot of laptop screens, the new image size is too big. I can't see almost all of these shots in their entirety.
Not just the fit. This gentleman has chosen a fabric which suits him perfectly. The colour of the tie, the pocket square and the crisp white shirt - it's the entire combination that looks superb here. Very dapper.
The colors are a very nice complement to his skin tone, but if the jacket were just a tad looser, I wouldn't be thinking muffin top. Perhaps it's pulling because he has his hand in his pocket?
On first glance, the pocket square looks like a bumblebee. Too, too precious.
Sart..I am ready to begin strolling the streets like this, as soon as they put some sidewalks in and they open some stores here in the Texas suburbs. Great look.
Fantastic photography, as always, but am I the only one who is getting less clear images in this larger format? :(
bigger IS beautiful. looking good around here scott. happy holidays!!
GORGEOUS
Perfect!
PS: The large size takes away the impact of the photos because (most) screens are not big enough for the whole photo to be seen at once. One has to scroll down to see the second half of the shot which is disturbing the beauty of your photography style. I loved your earlier size in which the photos would fit into the screen and if you needed to see a minute detail up close, you could click and see the large size.
while the suit is cut well and the colors are sumptuous, i can't get past the lapels on the jacket and the spread collar on the shirt. the pattern of the suit fabric also borders on clownish. which is not the affect he was going for, i'm sure
Looks great!
The new sizing looks great!
This outfit is perfection
I am less of a fan of the new photo format. For me, it removes the opportunity to look at the ensembles from a distance before the details become apparent (i.e. following the link to the photo by itself and zooming in).
Also, since the picture does not fit entirely in my browser window, I miss out on the impact of the photograph as a whole, which I have come to appreciate more and more here after first coming only for the fashion. I can still get it by following the link, as mentioned above, but it is akin to being placed right in front of a photo, opening your eyes, then taking a step back. A process with which I am not accustomed.
I think many visitors didn't realized that the smaller images would get larger if you just click on them.
I preferred the smaller pictures version with click-to-enlarge option, because the page downloaded faster and it was easier to scroll the images when searching for something.
But I suppose you could keep it this way if most of the visitors find it better.
Have a great week and thanks for your great work.
PS: I use Mozilla Firefox (1024x768 resolution)
to get nerdy... the jacket has very high peaks and rather slim lapels. the top buttons are very wide apart which gives an aggressively nipped look to the torso (as the eye moves down the buttons). the shoulders are lightly padded. all of which contributes to a more edgy, slightly less classic take.
Tie and pocket square are fantastic. suit is impeccable. Looks absolutely brilliant. Bravo!!
perfect!
the most beautiful db-suit i've ever seen. very nice choice of accessories as well. i wish more men would look as sharp as he does.
Classy.
HE IS so!!! incredible!!
He looks wonderful and that pocket square is truly delightful. What a lovely detail.
...now THIS is what I'm talking about!!
Thank god for these new big sized photos. No more clicking the pictures for me! Fab outfit by the way.
Anyone else finding the photos to big to view on their lap top??? Unless I enlarge each individually, I can't see entire portrait shots, that aside the shots are stunning as always! Thanks Sart. Merry Christmas from sunny NZ!
Nice suit (Polo?), The tie is a little bright, but. I like the texture.
Given the shape of his face, he should be wearing more of a point collar versus a spread collar.
The pocket square is a nice flourish.
Good for the new enlarged image size, Sart!!!! Good idea, thank you very much!!!
I'm in love! By the way, is he single?
His suit is impeccable tailored! I love the details he put into his outfit, very chic! I especially love those lapels!
my first reaction is that this guy obviously knows what looks good on him. i especially love the colors and the funky pocket square!
Simply stunning.
Totally agree with
Travis 12:15 and anon 12:25 - it's impossible to see the image in its entirety now! I can zoom out, of course (using the latest version of Mozilla), but then the text is teeny-tiny.
Any chance of bringing back the old format where you could click to enlarge?
Love the detail I can now see in the pics. Makes many of the looks incredible upon second viewing!
Is that a pocket square or pocket circle in his pocket? Either way, it is splendid.
Much better now!
The idea of larger pictures seems great at first!
However, with my standard computer screen I can't see the photos fully without having to scroll down. It also seems as if the quality is less sharp than before.
So here's one more vote to go back to the old format.
That handkerchief in his pocket is a work of art.
Actually, he's a work of art overall.
wow, you can see every loose thread in the images. i like the large image size.
fabulous!! love everything about this outfit. i REALLY want to see his shoes though...
I have to agree that this is why I started checking out your blog. Mory never disapoints. Cudos on the pocket square.
Nothing better than a well tailored suit and most of all he looks happy to be in it... which makes all the difference
Stunning Collection man..Nice Color Combination..keep it UP! ( Facehunters )
This is what "cool" looks like
great cut, i don't like the ticket poket on a DB and the tie too sporty even on that kind of suit's fabric.
>> This guy is amazing!
The textures are great and I love the pocket square.
I love the two buttons at the arm holes, like vintage 1960s 1970s brooks brothers suits.
big ups on the bigger photos! just an fyi, no biggie, it takes just a hair longer to load the page.
mory, dude you are killin it!!!
The larger pictures are too large. I vote for a return to the old format.
Love the site!
wow, he took my breath away.... he is so stunning.
that pocket square is so cool and playful.. it complements the warm colors of his suit.
The Duke of Windsor. Sweet.
Please sir, more.
WOW! this is GREAT! what perfection in sartorial attire. Just the right application of color and just the right amount of sprezzatura in the pocket square to give the suit the end all bit of character the outfit needs! And, i love how the collar's width and hefty knit tie and its thick knot compliment this gentleman's face. this man knows whats up.
i'm viewing this on a lap top with a 14 inch screen and i can still see the entire image, all the adds and stuff on both sides AND white space on both sides. the new bigger image is just fine.
Swoon
The very first thing that comes to mind, now that I have regained consciousness, and you can sing along, is, "You're never fully dressed without a smile." He is absolutely gorgeous, so is his suit. His pocket square looks like an exotic insect that landed on his chest, attracted by the color of his tie. Until just now I have never had the slightest desire to be an exotic insect...
From the other comments I assume he has appeared here before - is there a way to find the other photos of without scrolling through all of the archives? I'm sure he is just as stunning in the other shots - but must find out for myself if possible.
I am also curious about his shoes, but then I wonder if they were in the shot if I would have even noticed them... his smile is just so...
Swoon
This gentleman is fantastically handsome. I love the pocket square, I am so happy they're making a comeback. Especially such colourful ones!
what a beautiful suit, lovely accessories (the tie, the mouchoir)
and I LOVE the larger images - on the main page, and even bigger when I click.
Nice suit
But
He needs a course in knotting that tie-
That's it, i am moving to NYC. Or he needs to give lectures here in DC - the men here need to step their game up.
that pocket square is ridiculous - love it!!!!
I like the larger pictures. Beautiful man, beautiful suit! That pink ruffle pocket square is so unexpected against the suit's texture & the orange tie.
Love, LOVE, the new pic size.
captures the feeling of winter in manhattan to a tee.
love the new image sizes. thanks for doing that!
Flawless tailoring. Very Gregory Peck!
Ah, Vintage Mory. Superb.
he looks sharp, superlative fit! Oh, and the new image size shows just perfect on firefox.
That is most certainly the RIGHT fit...love that pop of orange, compliments his skin very nicely!!
I love the fabric and the tie... but we now know he dresses left. Sorry, but I think the pants could have used a more... discreet... cut.
Killer Suit! Love the new image size..
Double knot with a knitted tie...
I think we may have uncovered another Spectre agent.
love the new sizing - the tailoring on this suit is great!
Simple Perfect.
such a quintessential photo, with the dropped out background. though i did love the original enlargement size, only because the details were always so clear. but i love it either way.
Simply fantastic. The suit fits live a glove and gives off sophistication, intelligence, and style.
The new image size is great. Thanks for all your hard work and creating one of the best sites ever. Style for miles, my friend. YOUR SITE IS A DAILY READ. A few times a day, really.
Beautiful. Buuuuut how much nicer had he've chosen a small single blossom for his lapel instead, say a winter blooming coral colored hellebore like the Prince of Wales. Now THAT would have been extraordinary....
Mon Dieu, qu'est-ce qu'il est chic!
impeccable fit... beautfilly tailored... very Italian style
LOVE IT!!!!!
The guy looks good because he's got a great figure and head and the suit is very interesting. But. Sorry to disagree but the suit looks way too tight and hence looks a bit contrived. I can't imagine this is going to be incredibly comfortable over a ten hour day. Then the pocket square looks too much like a herbaceous border. Way too contrived again when pocket squares can be distinctive but not overpowering.
Lovely, and the new photo size is great.
Am I the only person looking at this new, tight-shouldered, nipped-waist profile that is emerging in men's sportscoats and suit jackets, and saying:
"It's delicious and so handsome, but can any of these men raise their arms above waist height?"
As a feminist, I'm titillated to think that men might be adopting something as uncomfortable as stilletto heels, and as a fashion follower I'm delirious that men have decided to stop looking like their clothes are two sized too big. But as a humanist I can't help but wonder -- can these men even comb their own hair when wearing something this constricting at the armpit and shoulder?
Thanks for the enlarged image size! LOOOOVE it!
love the way the dark edging on the pocket square/ruffle keeps it from floating away. quite the unexpected and daring look, beautifully executed.
i view your blog (obsessively) on IE7 on a Dell inspiron laptop and have to admit i prefer the smaller format photos because i could see the full impact of an outfit at first glance. unfortunately, scrolling down does detract from that inital "oh la la!" effect.
thanks for all the beauty.
It is a great fit. The pocket square is a nice whimsical fourish. Not a fan of the knit tie- it seems too casual and the color draws too much attention to itself and detracts from the overall look- it particularly doesn't go with the pocket square. He still looks good.
He is inspirational. The colors and textures are amazing. The larger image size is an improvement. I noticed the difference immediately.
I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THAT POCKET SQUARE! Goodnight Irene that is so fantastic. This, right here, this is what this blog is all about.
This pic is amazing. Love the pocket square fabric. Beautiful colors.
this is a bit irrelevant to the post, but merry Christmas mr. Sartorialist!
Not a big fan of the enlarged images but that's not gonna stop me from coming to this blog!! Haha. In regards to this particular image? I love love the color choices! The outfit really does work in many different ways. Good on him for this ensemble.
I love this shot!!
Lovely!
The new larger size is great! I can now see details that I never noticed before.
i love this ensemble! he makes it look so easy. i know it takes skill and a good eye to put together an outfit like this with so many details and textures. i would love it if this man would help me put together outfits straight from my closet. i'm sure he can pull random articles of clothing together to make a masterpiece!
~mparis
i love it!
amazing...looks gorgeous against his skin tone...love the new format!!!!
Terrific. He makes everyone else on the street look drab and uninspired. Great flower-like pocket square. And FYI: excellent new size for the images.
impeccable.
The suit is fab, but I think is time to discover some new fashion heavy weights and post them as well. it's a lot of guys in retail in new york city that dress as nice as he does. photo guy do the research and you would see...
Excellent with the bigger images! Now the blog is even better
love new image size, love the suit even more
The colors are amazing.
that is a nice suit.
Bigger image is better but I don't get this pic. Nothing special in my mind.
Oh Mory, you have reivigorated the men's fashion on this blog, thank goodness!! The entire outfit is just ridiculous, rediculous I tell you! Oh and the comment by Crowsfeet was trully funny and clever.
Energie
Love it!
this makes me want a double breasted suit more than I already did... and the pocket square is brilliant!
Very dapper! Love the larger pics!
xoxox,
CC
this shot is just magical. Beautiful work, I can't stop staring!
one word - IMPECCABLE!
Love LOVE the enlarged photo size! Huge improvement! thanks
Just to let you know, viewing using Firefox on a Mac, this new image size is fine, crisp and just perfect. Lovely image to try it out on too!
But, tailors out there please answer this for me: are that spread collar and the mono-width tie the right things with that suit lapel? I thought it was a sharp, deep shirt collar (mirroring the angle of the jacket lapel) and a tight knot on the tie with that DB jacket and lapel shape? Suit is gorgeous and a wonderful fit, but shirt and tie look to me too high and tight around his neck...
The cut is amazing and I love the colors.
Wow he looks dapper!! I love the colour and material and it reminds me of the suits that people wore in the 60s and 70s.
gorgeous! everyone looks sexy when they look comfortable in their own skin. this guy has one heck of a tailor.
Gorgeous and Amazing!!
I can not stand how "cutsie" this suit is.
But I love it. I just hope his personality matches, and I fear it doesn't...
I absolutely love this!
I love his pocket square. I wonder how he folded it...
So vintage!!! Love it!
is this the guy from your october 27,2005 post?
this suit has a great shape. im also a sucker for handkerchiefs...
So handsome, and I like his creative touches.
The texture of the suit makes it for me. I love the handkerchief, too. The color of the tie is great, too bad it's knit.
Beautiful face!
I've looked at this photo several times over the last few days. I don't know who this man is, but his smile and his stance radiate such a positive, warm energy that it is hard not to be taken in. The combination of the suit and his slim graceful figure actually reminds me of a young Cary Grant. Oh please, can we return to a time when men wore tailored, more form-fitting outfits? I have grown so tired of good-looking young men wearing baggy, unattractive sports attire. Thank you Sartorialist for posting this and other pics; hopefully these style choices will catch on!
So old school, yet modern at the same time. Looking good! Handsome man.
It's that the same guy from Thursday, January 04, 2007?
Great look on him, excellent tailoring, suit fits him like a glove!
looking at this guy makes me so happy. it's not just the clothes, but the way he wears them and his lovely, sweet face!
I wonder what's in his pocket.
the new enlarged image size! but, of course! it's brilliant! EXACTLY what i'd been waiting for...but didn't know it. it makes the whole sart. experience even better (and i didn't know it could GET better!). thanks for the upgrade!
so good.
What is the fabric on the suit?
I need to see the shoes. I know Mory has just the right thing on the bottom to finish this off.
