Signs of Life, Paris
I was chit-chatting with Susan after I took this picture and mentioned that I thought her hair was sooo beautiful - her best feature.
She said thanks and added that she had lost her hair once because of cancer. She now purposely keeps it long because she feels it is such a gift to have it back and, for her, a sign of life.

Beautiful Smile too.
Love her smile, her hair and your story. Thanks, Sart!!
thank you for this beautiful picture and the story behind it. i wish beauty would more often be seen as something having to do with life and a more complex meaning than just mere surface.
She looks amazing. With an amazing story.
her hair is gorgeous and i'm sure she's a gorgeous person too
wow. I well can imagine the impact of cancer on ones perception of life.
the outfit is tranquilo and very pretty.
I like that.
I also lov ethe dress and the folding of the fabric of her dress and the coat. Works well with her hair too.
Thank you for including the story behind the gorgeous hair.
I just adore this blog.
This story makes her look more beautiful!
Thanks for sharing this to all of us.
Beautiful! Her story is so life affirming!
The story you tell serves as a lesson in the way of not judging by appearances.
It´s so usual that we think that a woman has a charmed life just because she´s beautiful. There´s more to people that meets the eye.
She´s gorgeous and the outfit is so light in a winterish way.
cancer...? she's the epitome of true inspiration!
She looks beautiful!
Love the mix of greys.
Beautiful hair Scott. you're right!!..:She looks fantasctic and the picture is really nice, quite revealing...lovely, seriously.
X
lovely!, lively!, just beautiful!
mmm, she looks great!
love her coat!
;)
what a lovely young woman. and her story inspires me to perhaps keep my long hair, too.
Oh yes, it IS life. My grandmother had very long grey hair which she worn in a bun. During a long illness, the hospital nurses cut it off, because they were tired to care for it. She cried and begged them not to do it, because she'll die if it's cut. They told her not to be superstitious. She faded away and died soon after that.
i had cancer at 16 and lost my hair. my parents love my hair long now, makes me look healthy to them. but i like it short, too, makes me feel stronger. susan looks gorgeous, tough as nails, and glowing. love this post.
What a beautiful story! The first thing I noticed about her was her gorgeous hair, too!
Great look!!!!!!!!!1
everything about her screams beauty and life.
Great shot, sart :)
My first thought was beautiful hair,
even more so now!
Great story Scott. Tks.
oh, what a wonderful dress!
she's really beautiful! and the story just amplified her beauty.
Before I read the caption I was completely taken with her hair and her smile. She looks great!
Wow, this look speaks LUSH
Love her outfit, and her hair is gorgeous. Thanks for including the story!
amazing really beautiful
What an inspiring story to the photograph. Funny how I was totally focused on her hair the moment I sent my eyes on her photograph, only to gasp in awe at the knowledge of it as a 'sign of life' for Susan. It really isn't just about appearances. I love the draped jacket over the dress with the lace ups; the grey tones work together so well.
Thanks Sart!
I love the unusual little bag she's clutching.
I agree with acasi - if I glimpsed this beautiful girl on the street I would probably think, 'Oh, I wish I looked like her, everything would be so much easier.' Not necessarily true.
Thanks for sharing her story.
a lovely girl showing appearances can be deceiving- as someone else said it would be easy to assume she has a charmed life, free of worry.
Beautiful story and she looks lovely. Wow.
a great ensemble, and her hair looks really healthy and pretty
Yes!! I love this one. I really like the hang of the dress and the subtle reflection of colour in the check of the jacket. Good accessorizing (hate that word...) as well, all very classic and muted but completely harmonious.
And yes, her hair is incredible. Her story really does make you appreciate her beauty even more.
Her "Signs of Life" as a reminder of her triumph over a terrible ordeal is inspiring. More than a beautiful woman! She remains me of a young Beatrice Dalle, Sophia Coppola and Carine Roitfeld all at once...
PLO
what a beautiful story .. makes you become very shhhhhhh....(index finger to the mouth)
Love her dress - the colour is amazing ...
grey but not boring !
Hurrah!

i cant believe she had cancer, she looks so young!
you go girl!
how utterly gorgeous.
i'd die for hair like that.
and that story made the picture all the more meaningful.
She looks like an amazing person inside and out thanks to that gorgeous smile and from what you've said. I think hair is an extension of how you feel emotionally, so no wonder hers is beautiful.
What a captivating smile. That dress is beautiful, too.
what a beauty and a beautiful story! wish her all the best!
I agree, her hair is beautiful and so is her coat!
I was def. taken by her hair and her style is classy beautiful. Thank you for sharing her story.
Amen to Acasi's comment this morning ("It´s so usual that we think that a woman has a charmed life just because she´s beautiful. There´s more to people that meets the eye.")
Gorgeous hair and dress...
Stephanie
awww what a beautiful story..
we should all appreciate our good health!
She's perfection. Her hair was what first caught my eye too! I love her whole balanced outfit, and how the French are light on cosmetics.
GORegeous. Great story.

I really love your pictures, although its mainly fashion, it brings the uniqueness of individuals around us to me eyes. And somehow, you always capture the moment, putting a new perspective in my eyes
She is beautiful both inside and out.
at first she looks amazing and after reading her story i'm sure she's really amazing.
This young woman has really lived! She is very beautiful and not 'precious' about it. See the scars on her knees? I bet as a child she fell out of trees and off her bike and got her clothes dirty.
Now as an adult she is happy to show us her natural beauty. Her inner warmth really shines through.
thanks for sharing.
the story makes her more beautiful.
A beautiful story, a stunning woman, a great photograph.
A very nice post, including the background story and all the affirmative comments about her having successfully battled cancer at such an early age. This is a beautiful seasonal palette. I like everything, particularly the coat and shoes and that fabulous ring, and the folds created by her belted dress. She looks wonderful!
great story. looks like she's living life to the fullest in super chic style.
gorgeous...but not mu style
Beautiful hair, lovely story, great picture.
I love it when you give us a back story, and I particularly appreciated this one... She is all the more beautiful and strong for what she's been through, and to win the fight and come out looking like that? Wow.
the flow of her hair til her dress and gesture is just right. lovely.
I have that skirt in black- it's Reiss, I wish I had seen it in gray though- like it so much more! What I would do for hair like that!
fabulous hair. fabulous story. fabulous fashion sense. this photo makes me love this blog almost more than i already do! :)
My Aunt [she married into the family] died of cancer when I was only 10 years old [12 years ago] and she always used to touch my hair after she lost hers and told me how beautiful she thought it was. After her passing I made a promise to donate it. Well 3 donations later I'm growing it out for a fourth time because I know how much joy it brings to women being able to regain that part of their lives.
The story so over powers the image, thank you for sharing it.
There is a great representation of ebb & flow in her look. Truly, an inspiring outfit and photograph.
Wow, she is incredibly stunning, her smile her eyes...such joy in them! What a lovely story, and an amazing outfit to match: love the dress & coat! Just gorgeous!
You have broken the belief that a picture is worth a 1000 words... your very brief story exceeds the photo... truely she was beautiful without your comments.. with? whew...
beautiful...
amazing story. she really has a beautiful hair :)
what a beautiful girl :)
having worked with her, i never knew that about her. this is the best photo of her i've seen actually.

She's stunning, with the story and without.
Take more pictures of her!! I'd love to see her hair complementing other beautiful outfits!
Love the outfit, she is very photogenic.
I had cancer last year and can understand how she feels about her hair. When mine came back it was even curlier than before and is taking a long time to grow, but I am definitely going to let it!
Wonderful post! I'm happy to hear that she's healthy. Her hair looks gorgeous!
she's radiant from the inside. Beautiful eyes, beautiful hair.
Thank you so much for this beautiful post. I lost my hair to cancer in 1998 (I've kept mine short since that time).
This is such a beautiful post. Thank you for sharing.
Go, Susan!
Beautiful girl, beautiful story!
Beautiful, in every respect. xx
She is beautiful
Hair her is luxurious and beautiful. Combined with the almost playful length of the dress and the minimal coat this picture is fabulous.
She looks really beautiful !!!
A great picture and a big girl !!
The girl did touch my soul when I just saw her picture, I thought her is the most brilliant girl I ever saw in the blog.
And I got to know why after I read the daily down there.
The shine comes out from her heart, just like a angel.
Tell you that I also lost my hair during the treatment of cancer, and I got it back, and my smile too.
Thanks for your picture to let me know there is someelse that just like me. Love you.
Beautiful girl.So charming. Hope she keeps her hair long forever.
Everyone has a story and this one is moving.
amazing story behind a fashion picture.
Beautiful smile
