effortless.

Blogger The Concrete Commentator said ... (8:40 AM) :

Nice find. Of course he looks flawless. Love the seersucker Jacket.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:46 AM) :

Wonderful.

I love his look.

A legend captured perfectly.

you did good

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:49 AM) :

The bracelets make the outfit - shows the rebel inside.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

Well, we know now what became of him!

Blogger Shaynuh said ... (9:31 AM) :

OMG! OMG! Valentino!!!!! :D

Blogger Jill Turner said ... (9:34 AM) :

Great jacket, naturally.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:39 AM) :

Love the seersucker. Very cool. Literally and sartorially.

Blogger Mira Vales said ... (9:40 AM) :

Always smart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:41 AM) :

grande valentino!!! he's a legend, and a fashion icon for men. he looks elegant, effortless, sophisticated, handsome... FLAWLESS! even the pocket square, the color and the way he folds it... it just works! i will miss seeing his beautiful collections go down the runway, but i hope to see much more of him while we are still lucky to have him with us :)

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (9:45 AM) :

Jack Wetherall? Looking very cool and crisp. The white jeans, unbuttoned shirt cuffs and bracelets all play nicely off the jacket and handkerchief - a nice balance of casualness and formality and appropriate to the locale. The t-shirt is so pristine it almost has a formal aspect, like a minimalist ascot, and it does relate to the white jeans. I might have skipped it unless it was a cool evening in Rio. He's played with a lot of details in a subtle yet very conscious way. Nice. Now someone muss his hair just a bit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

Wow....The man has class!!!! How can one learn that?

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:12 AM) :

Okay, it never occurred to me that this could be Valentino himself. He looks much younger than he must be. The perfection of the outfit is explained, however. I stand corrected and amazed.

Blogger ~abi~ said ... (10:14 AM) :

were u being serious, dan in richmond??? that IS valentino, not jack wetherall! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

T-shirt and shirt?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 AM) :

I think his whole look is a bit too rich man going sailing..almost tacky.

I think it's the colors.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

Valentino looks so classic in that outfit, and I love it! The fantastic jacket with the little red scarf who puts the little extra to the outfit. Just look at the expression on his face, its strong and inspiring! Valentino looks very confident in this photo!

Blogger The Khaki Crusader said ... (10:51 AM) :

this photo makes me happy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 AM) :

he loves brazil. he is always in rio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 AM) :

I love the tie in his breast pocket - always prepared!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 AM) :

Perfect! He is a master and I stand in humble awe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 AM) :

T-shirt and shirt: no one here would accept it if this weren't Valentino. And when will he finally accept his age and stop dyeing his hair?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 AM) :

Great picture of a great man. He looks so relaxed. Sign of a truly gifted photographer - being able to connect with his subject and put them at their ease.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 AM) :

oh. theres valentino. chillin in rio.

Blogger Olviya said ... (12:17 PM) :

Valentino... is so elegant...
as always!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 PM) :

Can someone explain the visible t-shirt with this outfit? Seersucker is a very cool (literally) fabric, the shirt is unbuttoned quite a way, the pants are summer-weight and white - and then a t-shirt.

I like everything else, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:18 PM) :

To Rayan

"Rayan said...

Well... Val is very rich and he loves to sail... mmmm

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:29 PM) :

I don't believe it!!!

Blogger Dominica said ... (1:32 PM) :

Always travel in style .....wow !
He look great !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:42 PM) :

Style is this man. Valentino.

I am not sure about everyone else, but I can understand the two shirt, it doesn't look weird to me. I am cooler with two shirts on as opposed to one--plus, SWEAT STAINS PEOPLE!!! You get more life out of your shirts with an undershirt.

Thanks, Sart, another great shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

I have always loved a crisp white t-shirt with a crisp shirt. Maybe it's all those years of having to wear a uniform to school. eh. The trick to the white t-shirt is the fit of the crew neck AND the balance of color with the shirt and jacket. This pic is a great how to.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:16 PM) :

valentino <3

all i can think is: valentino-red

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:22 PM) :

lui è la Perfezione.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (2:38 PM) :

Oh! Valentino!
Great shot!
I'm loving you photos from Rio!!!

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (3:58 PM) :

Valentino manages to look cool in a blazer in hot Rio de Janeiro...only Valentino...

Blogger Allie said ... (4:13 PM) :

Seersucker blazer! I love it. Of course he'd be flawless.

Blogger OndrejS said ... (4:30 PM) :

Great shot of the glamorous Valentino.
Gotta say, I love the whole Rio collection.... It is so refreshing to see so much beauty worn so effortlessly and freely. As well, because winter is slowly creeping in here and these make me forget it for a while...

Blogger Miguel said ... (5:04 PM) :

Always so classy...

Blogger StyleFitz said ... (5:11 PM) :

does this guy ever get it wrong? said above, but effortless is the word that sums him up best. i hope i look like that when i'm his age.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:11 PM) :

The Sheik of Chic !............nothing else will ever explain the man.
Cheers
MacDaddy

Blogger emily said ... (6:32 PM) :

answer me this, mr. sart:
WHY ARE ALL THE FAMES IN RIO?!

Blogger Duchesse said ... (7:00 PM) :

Elegance and sadness, a touching mix.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:51 PM) :

The tie folded in his pocket makes me think of warm, happy nights and a joyous man loving the world. Funny what a little piece of misplaced silk can do! Stephanie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:36 PM) :

Bespoke seersucker? He obviously has some cash to throw around if he can afford bespoke seersuckers. Im always tempted to order one and then when i hear the cost and know how quckly they wear out i regress. But yeah, what is with the white tee under the dress shirt? Must be cold in Rio.

Blogger Deb Oh said ... (8:53 PM) :

yesss it's perfection. c'est genial.

Blogger Scott W said ... (8:59 PM) :

Love the huge white watch and that his cuffs aren't buttoned!

Blogger Simone said ... (9:34 PM) :

simply amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:43 PM) :

A renowned legend captured in such a relaxed environment. I am blown away!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:43 AM) :

Hang on a minute, did you just bump into Mr. V on the streets of Rio? What a city...

Blogger stylefather said ... (3:33 AM) :

This just proves that the Italians have the greatest style-even better than us Brits!

He just looks fantastic-not even I would try and pull off white jeans!

Blogger Marquis de Lannes said ... (5:20 AM) :

Un mito viviente!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:51 AM) :

I think this is the first picture from Rio that really shows fashion style, not just people that look good(those are nice too).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:04 AM) :

This dude got the style.
But the sarto is the man... nice shot !

Blogger Marian said ... (8:20 AM) :

he just beathes style! what an elegant man! xx
muah!
marian

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:34 AM) :

to the guy who was asking why all these famous people were in rio: it was Claro Rio Summer's penultimate night, you can see many other in style.com
anyway a great pic sart of a really great man who in this particular case is not posing, it's the closest of his 'real' face as you can get. congrats on that! that's what differentiates a REALLY good photographer from a just REALLY well equipped one.

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (12:28 PM) :

a true master!

Blogger Irini said ... (12:30 PM) :

...CLASSINESS!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:45 PM) :

Classic, fresh, and effortless. Perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:06 PM) :

Older menmust never...ever...dye heir hair.

Even if you're Valentino.

Even if you're God.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:13 PM) :

Its simply an amazing photograph...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:26 PM) :

he looks impeccable, of course.
who else could bring such sophistication and refinement to as casual a place as rio?

well captured

Blogger dwashington314@gmail.com said ... (9:06 PM) :

I BELIEVE THE PHRASE IS "PISS ELEGANT".

BRAVO VAL!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 PM) :

So absolutely elegant, all about details... I love Valentino so perfectly sad and detached, he is a legend.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:10 AM) :

He looks like Gordon Gekko should after doing some time and moving from stocks to literature.

On the sartorial side, I am still not convinced that white jeans are actually a good idea.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:30 AM) :

Congrats on this shot!! You're so lucky to have captured him!!

Blogger Alexa said ... (6:03 AM) :

Agree with the above poster who said this is the first Rio pic that actually shows someone with style, not just someone good-looking. He looks amazing.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:54 AM) :

What can I say... he's Valentino; he does not need to try he just is pure class!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 AM) :

He always carries it off - even the hair is perfect - and on the beach!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:49 AM) :

It's funny how Valentino always looks exactly the same (very smart and Italian) whatever setting he's photographed in.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:25 PM) :

ti amiamo valentino. the problem is: can somebody tell me who of the existing fashion-designer has such a stong aura? j'adore!!!!

Blogger Sue | Saras | Sohf Travels said ... (12:31 AM) :

Great Shot!

Blogger farhad said ... (3:34 AM) :

7 years ago I had the pleasure to have dinner at his business partner's house in paris. it was an intimate party after his fashion show with 10 guests. I have to say that he is an absolute gentleman, and oozes class.
that's a nice picture scott. cheers!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:02 AM) :

would he give me a just a bit of his style? :D hehehe

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

that hairdo, for me it ruins everything.
clothes end at the neckline, style doesn't.

Blogger ADwight said ... (3:54 PM) :

gorgeous as usual

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:27 AM) :

The seersucker coat is fabulous. What a pity its not a suit.
xavier

Blogger Kwana said ... (9:27 PM) :

The man is perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:48 AM) :

Indeed it's close to perfection, but not more than close. He's got a white t-shirt under the shirt for God's sake??!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:59 AM) :

Okay people, in his jacket is a pocket square. Not to be confused with a tie or a filthy snot-rag. And in regards to Rayan's comment about the 'rich-man sailor' thing; it's so not tacky, it's straight-up classy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 PM) :

Valentino Sharp...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 AM) :

The pocket square adds some flavour. Nicely done!
