oh yeah! this guy is cool - colours, proportions , everything, even the turn up on his jeans is just right. How to dress to make the world happy!

Blogger Jingoist said ... (10:20 AM) :

Gotta love Mr. O'Brien.

Blogger mich431 said ... (10:20 AM) :

YES! the style guy showing us guys how to rock an orange blazer with confidence. god, he has to have the most enviable closet.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:31 AM) :

Fantastic combination! I love colours...they turn me on so badly that I go smiling all day long...beautiful shot, very natural!

Girl on the back, on the left. Gorgeous!

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (11:00 AM) :

Oh. I fear I am going to be the lone dissenter here. IMHO, this is a case of the clothes wearing the person. The orange jacket looks impeccably tailored, but to me this is a case of too much at once. I wonder how he packs to travel. Jorge from W Palm Beach

glenn o is the man. i swear that ralph lauren designs every season from his closet.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

agree with last poster, to much of a good thing. less is more

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:16 PM) :

Without the yellowish sweater it works much better.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:43 PM) :

elementary watson

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:21 PM) :

love the colors, love yellow. i also love the girl in the background on the left. her muted tones play off the gentleman's brightness, and her scowl and cigarette lend apt attitude.

a great slice of life shot. yay!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:37 PM) :

please, no. fit? where. colors? not very refined. patterns? ugh. it just looks sloppy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:44 PM) :

only you, mr. o'brien!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:17 PM) :

Looks like a early 90's children's television presenter. Is he on his mobile to find his lost Teddy Bear?

Each item could work on its own but looks totally ridiculous all together. I suggest turning the lights on when one is getting changed in the morning

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

This guy is happy and he exudes it. Smile is the best accessory. Great color set.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 PM) :

I like the pow effect of sport coat and sweater, but I think one pow would have been enough. I think J. Crew is doing a version of Mr. O'Brien's raincoat for S 09. Can't wait. PS I have no connection with J Crew.

Blogger Peteykins said ... (7:31 PM) :

It's funny, but I always get so much inspiration from the negative comments on this blog.

I think it's a great combo pulled off with wonderful confidence.

Blogger Platformmanboots said ... (7:42 PM) :

Glenn is God.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 PM) :

Glenn O'Brien is the man! I think what really carries it off is his aplomb and confidence in what on someone else could be completely hideous. The echoes of the colours is amazing. From his tartan raincoat reflecting his jeans and the strap of his bag, to his shoes with his dress shirt and the lens of his sunglasses and the interrelationship of the orange with the yellow with the metal rims of his glasses really go well together. The added sprezzatura of the rolled up cuffs of his jeans and the buttoning of the top button of his three button along with his disheveled hair is the icing on the cake.

Blogger Dominica said ... (1:48 AM) :

love the layered look !
Looks good on him, little Mr Sunshine...

Blogger Arya said ... (1:51 AM) :

is there anything Mr. O'Brien can't pull off? this is a perfect example of how to have fun with your outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 AM) :

I sure love Glenn's tartan overcoat. but i'm unsure about the combo of yellow and that bright orange. Maybe it would look easier to the eye, if the jacket had a pattern with only a little bit of orange?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 AM) :

Genius. That gelato tangerine brings the whole outfit together. Plus, he's having fun!

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (8:56 AM) :

To Jorge - I don't find the jacket to be impeccably tailored. He can hardly do it up.

I'm glad he's having fun, but this is another example of giving him the benefit of the doubt because he's in the fashion industry.

If this guy sold you shoes in some middle-american town you'd write him off as a nut who lives with his mother.

Blogger  said ... (9:34 AM) :

Love the girl behind on the left.
Too bad she's smoking.
Colorfull guy is funny !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

After looking over the images and taking in all the colors, what really stood out to me was his gold wedding band.

Platinum, palladium and other white metals have been the go-to material for men's wedding bands during recent years, and it's just so ... classic ... to see a classic gold band. Being in my mid-20s, it's a refreshing look.

Blogger Isao said ... (11:02 AM) :

I love Mr. O'Brien a lot but, shouldn't a guy who advises others on how to dress, go a little easier with that pumpkin and egg colors? And the Coat? And the bottom of those pants? Sorry, maybe I am too much european to understand that. By the way, the girl on the backside looks very cute.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:20 PM) :

Glenn O'Brien is one of the few real style icons in the world. If I could download the fashion sense of anyone - he is the guy. Just take a look at his resume if you don't agree. And if you don't get his style then look again.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:28 PM) :

The yellow and orange just look awful together. They are fighting like madness to be the pop of color and instead of coming of as creative, this just looks like a Crayola crisis. I do enjoy the coat, though.

Blogger Olviya said ... (5:18 PM) :

i dont really like his glasses.
i think he should look for more stylish one)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:37 PM) :

looks happy to clash colours

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 AM) :

"Only you Mr O'Brien!"

....good

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 PM) :

I don't care who he is, I care how he looks, and how he looks is....goofy. What's worse, goofy yet conservative: a bad combo....

Blogger Verity said ... (9:43 AM) :

Glenn O'Brien is simply being Glenn O'Brien. That is the essence of style. I personally wouldn't want to stand out that much... too uptight.. but that is my style. I appreciate the uniqueness of his take. It's like Coltrane riffing in between the scales and out of the box ! Go Glenn Go !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 AM) :

It makes a statement. Personally, I don't really think Glenn should cuff pants, especially when he's wearing a longer-fitting overcoat. It makes his legs look short. Who am I to criticize someone who has been so influential on my personal style though? Here's another look at the same outfit: http://stylemens.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/10/23/glenn_2.png

You have to respect a man who practices what he preaches.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

Looks like Cuff daddy and the Family too me!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 PM) :

Gawd, that reminds me of my dad! He always wears bright orange (and other neons), mainly so he doesn't get run over while he's ridding his bike.

Digressing, I love a good dose of bright colours. :)

Blogger clearthought said ... (9:53 PM) :

Orange! Yes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:22 PM) :

I like the girl on the left. She and the girl on the right are both wearing converse.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:58 PM) :

Does anyone know what label the overcoat is from?

Blogger Louise said ... (7:08 PM) :

I first noticed the girl walking behind. She is wearing a simple outfit that looks like it came right out of my wardrobe!
