PERFECT.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:52 AM) :

i don't think jeans and a blazer is a suit, mate.

Flawless.

Blogger TMFA said ... (10:11 AM) :

The guy represents cool. Besides, his whole outfit - blazer, jeans, boots - give me a feeling like he walked out of an G-Star ad.

Blogger Cassaundra said ... (11:02 AM) :

oh, i love this silhouette.
excellent boots, too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 AM) :

Sorry Sart, but this look isn't working for me. I like it from the knees up but the boots?! i'm like what is going on?? Maybe i'm getting old....
(love the composition of the photo though, side on, 3/4 profile and the row of yellow cabs in the background, great light too.)

Blogger John B Pritchett said ... (11:07 AM) :

Great blazer! I'm not a fan of the boots but he does have the aura of indie rock star.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 AM) :

Feelin' the steez on this one...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:46 AM) :

Anyone know who makes the boots?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 AM) :

I want more Rio :(

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:51 AM) :

This guy has a bad posture and I´m not quite sure about whats fantastic about this outfit. Any one could come up w this "by accident".

Can´t agree w most of the previous posts

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

Oh, my favourite workboots for boys! My boyf wore them in the early '90s when he worked as a landscaper...sigh. This fellow's bringing them uptown, with good results.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

It's less "boots and suits" and more "blazer and jeans". But, that is fine. I'm a long-time fan of blazers paired with jeans. I find it to be a great weekend look.
I don't love the boots, but I like the grooming. The hair length matches the beard length. The color of the beard adds some flair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

This guy is handsome and confident, with a Heath Ledger-ish Chris Martin-ness about him. But the outfit - while not a disaster - is a bit of a miss. It's just too much of a leap from the pinstriped blazer to the sloppily-laced boots. And the standard-issue jeans aren't helping to bridge the gap for me. This guy needs the blue, fur-hooded parka that your cigarette- smoking LV-bag toting dude had last week. And THAT guy could have used this guy's sportcoat. Maybe you could arrange the swap?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 PM) :

I want those boots, where can i get them?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

lace up boots on men. specifically lace up boots on men = the color of the season. you heard it here last.

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (12:22 PM) :

I think the man is making the clothes here, that he has a carefully considered sense of style and knows how to work it and it looks good. This would not have the same effect worn by just anyone, and it's easy to picture it on different types and imagine the results (try it!). Nice photo.

Blogger StyleFitz said ... (12:32 PM) :

Strange how one choice on his outfit completely changes his looks, if he had some smart brown lace ups on he would look very smart casual, but the boots completely change the look. Especially tucking the jeans into them. Not sure I would be brave enough to tuck the jeans into the boots but it looks cool on this guy.

Anyone reckon they are brave enough to tuck the jeans in?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:37 PM) :

The world needs to know what those boots are.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:38 PM) :

Beautiful, manly and stylish

Blogger Mohammad said ... (12:40 PM) :

I don't know why everybody liked the boots, it is not good mach and it destroyed the combination of blazer and jeans, I think if he wears them with Chelsea boots, he could keep the form and even look more active.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:49 PM) :

trying waaaayyyyy to hard, judging by the cabs in the background i don't think he's off for a hike...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:01 PM) :

great posture… in this case the man makes completely the outfit... not the way around. Makes you dream about boots (agree with some of your audience, not amazing), blazers... etc

About Rio… what Rio have you been… I'm surprised ?! Is it really possible to find so many people fancy in that small wall, but all good/great… on the other hand Moscow blowned me away! Thank you!

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (1:02 PM) :

The boots are USA made by Red Wing boots, the style is the 877 I think- check their website. I bought a pair of their boots about a year ago (always the trend-setter, NOT!) and I like them because I wear them everywhere: clubs, when traveling; they are extremely versatile and sturdy. I pair them with jeans, but as far as adding a jacket I would add a soft-construction one in fabric like chino or something very very casual. The jacket in the picture looks too formal for my taste. The Red Wings are worth the money. Jorge from W Palm Beach

Blogger Blicious said ... (1:07 PM) :

YUM!

Blogger re:definition said ... (1:12 PM) :

he's in need of a bloody resole.

Blogger Diana said ... (1:13 PM) :

I LOVEI T

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:26 PM) :

It really looks like he were posing for an ad! Love the blazer/denim look paired with a more casual looking boot. It's like a more refined Urban look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

The boots are Li'l Abners. They look kinda classically run down at the heel, like they used to belong to his old man (a retired Polish steelworker) who's youngest boy went to art school in Pittsburgh. Now he's a painter in L.I.C who dates sane and grounded ex-models who work with kids and can cook pierogies from scratch!

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (1:31 PM) :

Oh I see you took a picture of my boyfriend.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:48 PM) :

Lovely. He would make a good groom to the lady some photos below in the ivory lace dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:04 PM) :

fun with fashion. love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:12 PM) :

I think they're called rigger boots, intentionally without heels for walking on girders way up high. I had a pair years ago, and they were made by Gorilla or HH Brown (Canadian companies?) and I'm pretty sure most workwear stores carry them.

As I recall, the soles were foam and wore down really quickly.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

Relaxed.Chic.Cool.

Love the entire look, and what a gorgeous man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:25 PM) :

i don.t like it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:51 PM) :

Nope.
Below 25 years old it's coolish, any older, trying too hard.

Blogger Dominica said ... (3:19 PM) :

great blazer !
Personally I think the way he's wearing his boots - makes him look 'heavier' than he is ...
It shortens his legs...:-/

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:28 PM) :

not really a big fan of boots, one thing I have always been curious about, doesn't it shorten the legs proportion with jeans tucked into boots?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:33 PM) :

The boots really make that outfit.

Blogger Fable Press said ... (4:04 PM) :

This look is all over Vancouver; there's something about mixing work and professional attire that seems to beckon "look at how hard I tried to appear casual, and I succeed brilliantly every time."

All those boots need are a few spots of mud.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

This is the way to do causal without looking bad. LOVE the boots and the dark blue blazer and jeans. so easy and such a good look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:16 PM) :

reminds me of gianni agnelli

Blogger John-Bryan Hopkins said ... (4:47 PM) :

yes.

I am not a fan of the faux worn jeans but the rest is spot on.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:47 PM) :

the boots are a bit too much and out of proportion...it could be the angle of how the pic was taken, but it seems like his boots are way bigger than his head.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:21 PM) :

The boots add that ruggedness to the man's image. A nice balance of masculinity and style. Well done.

Blogger southerngentinL.A. said ... (6:26 PM) :

Cool! Good work!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:49 PM) :

the boots are wearing him and it should be the other way around, duh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:27 PM) :

I really think this obsession with boots is seriously misplaced. They ruin any outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 PM) :

I know this guy... he is what you would call the "real deal." He wears those boots almost everyday. Truly a man who makes the clothes, he doesn't seem to try very hard and he doesn't need to. He is effortlessly beautiful, well put together, and as a person is a complete gentleman to, um, boot!

Blogger junglesiren said ... (7:44 PM) :

I'm amazed that so many people commented on this one.

Handsome guy. Could wear anything. I love him from the knees up. Love the boots, just don't dig the pant-tucked-in look. To me it's trying way too hard to be cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 PM) :

I agree with dan from Richmond - I think this man is owning this look. I think it's a great personal take on construction-smart-casual.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:56 PM) :

love it. love the boots. and the "suit"

and he looks like a hybrid of heath ledger and thom yorke.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:28 PM) :

I'm guessing that it's about 50 degrees out, it's NOT raining and he's standing on asphalt. Why is he wearing work/hiking boots? There are plenty of great looking boots for urban environments. Wearing these just for the fashion statement is...stupid. Perhaps he's waiting for a cab to take him to the Catskills.

Blogger Maddie said ... (10:51 PM) :

Looks like Chris Martin!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:56 PM) :

The boots are ironworker boots and they're sold at workwear stores around the country (eg: Mark's Work Warehouse). They're made by a company called Dakota, but J.B. Goodhue and Gorilla make/made similar pairs years ago. They retail for about $130 Canadian.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:14 PM) :

I so need a pair of boots! Nice pic, as always...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 PM) :

Why not... he looks very manly.

Blogger Michael Joseph Owens said ... (12:32 AM) :

Be cool to see him in the pants sans jacket. Maybe with a bulky sweater. Looks like he could pull it off nicely. That said, he's looking pretty fine as is.

Blogger WhatATrip86 said ... (12:53 AM) :

very nice look, I normally don't like the blazers jeans combo but it works with the beard n boots...

now if he had some nice raw denim..

I'd be sold 110%

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:37 AM) :

Sorry, don't like the look at all.

Blogger farhad said ... (1:49 AM) :

I can't say this does anything for me one way or the other. never got the whole redwing thing. I would feel odd walking out of the house wearing that outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:05 AM) :

I hope I wind up with a man like this.

Blogger T said ... (2:54 AM) :

The boots make the fit... dope

Blogger kateemily said ... (6:26 AM) :

Is he married? Does he want to be??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:11 AM) :

SNORE!!!

Blogger Liz said ... (9:24 AM) :

at first i didn't like it, but then i imagined him walking around, and i could see how it works a lot better. anyway...i like the boots, and my husband was just looking at a pair similar to these in a j.crew catalog last night.

Blogger Modern Day Marilyn said ... (4:46 PM) :

He's totally workin it, but I doubt it would work on many other people. You'd have to be tall, broadshouldered, handsome, and daring!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:35 PM) :

I like how the pinstripes of the blazer are echoed in the wash of his jeans (look closely). Love the boots. Not sure they're quite right with the blazer ... but the ensemble's perfect because it allows his attitude to be the make-it or break-it factor. Way to go!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 PM) :

chic & badass
i dig

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 PM) :

that's a tough one to pull off if you've got short legs...

Blogger  said ... (5:29 AM) :

Excellent photo !!

Blogger Bridget Helwig said ... (7:25 AM) :

Wonder if he's lived in Minnesota for any period of time, the kids there have been doing the whole boot thing for a couple years now. Very manly/sexy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 AM) :

I've been wearing brown leather harness suits with my suit on casual Fridays for years. Definitely the way to go :)

Blogger The Urban Gentleman Blog said ... (4:36 PM) :

i heart it. he's such an urban gentleman. -Jacinda

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:42 PM) :

The jeans are not faux-distressed. They have been worn in from the raw state, and are probably APC New Standards. The "dirty" fade is typical of APCs.

Blogger Scot Meacham Wood said ... (9:58 PM) :

The shot is amazing. Love the aggressively urban setting with the rural-chic ensemble. Stylish, yet masculine. always a good combination.

Tartanscot in SF.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:19 PM) :

I commented already, but it struck me that wearing work boots like this was all the rage in the early '80s in Canada. Greb was the brand, and they were tan with salmon-coloured soles.

Good look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:35 AM) :

I love this look, but frankly I think he would look great in anything. Excellent grooming job, as said in previous comments, lenght of beard and haircut perfectly matched. Love the boots and jeans, but personally I would have picked a less formal jacket, like a fishbone tweed, instead of this pinstripe.

Blogger Murph said ... (11:32 PM) :

What I think pulls the whole look together... His coloring (skin tone and red facial hair) matches the boot.

The field of blue broken up by the hand in pocket makes the shot.

And I don't think the jeans are tucked in so much as they are rolled up because the are skinny jeans that would not fit over top of the boots.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:59 PM) :

I love the contrast of the 'real' wear in the boots and the 'fake ' wear on the denims.

Better not rip the crotch if he decides to get rugged !

Blogger Verity said ... (9:31 AM) :

Truth is beauty...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:16 PM) :

Hey check out this guys my space. He's a singer!!

Blogger A.R.G. said ... (5:24 PM) :

This is a Montreal influence in fashion - where boots are a necessity this time of year. You see fantastically dressed people rocking big winter boots.

Blogger style inside said ... (1:16 PM) :

simply perfect. memories of Heath.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:04 PM) :

BEAUTIFUL LOOK.

Blogger Urbane Legend said ... (7:43 PM) :

Ooooh yes, yes yes. I do like!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:54 PM) :

I like the cut of his beard.

Blogger Dana said ... (9:35 PM) :

does this guy realize how great he looks? abfab

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:04 PM) :

yum yum yum

Blogger Louise said ... (7:13 PM) :

His FACE! He just stopped NYC traffic with that face.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:29 AM) :

Great look even or maybe especially the boots EXCEPT, the boots should be a bit more presentable, to have the hear worn off like that just looks exceptionally sloppy and the boots should be in overall better condition maybe polished a tad AND laced up with the pants over the boot.

JCrew has an exclusive Red Wing boot to effect this look perfectly
