elegance is the perfect word!

amazing shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:46 PM) :

from the shoes to the folded cuffs...perfection.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (4:53 PM) :

Classic, chic, perfectly age-appropriate.

Blogger Jeremiah William McCarthy said ... (4:55 PM) :

i'm kind of in love with knit outerwear, esp. knit men's blazers.

not my style, but she nails it.

Blogger Flo said ... (5:08 PM) :

Regia.
Desde Chile.

Blogger Menucha photography said ... (5:17 PM) :

she definitely exudes grace and elegance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 PM) :

While the woman in the beige coat is guilty of accessory overload, she sure looks great!

Blogger John-Bryan Hopkins said ... (5:30 PM) :

Wonderful!

There are ladies here in the South you see with such grace and elegance.

Here's to the ladies who lunch!

You have captured a great moment in time.

Love the hair too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:31 PM) :

Ladies who lunch, Milan style!
Gorgeous!!

Blogger Carl Lehnen said ... (5:37 PM) :

I could do with a tad fewer bangles, but I love her jacket, esp. the collar and the rolled back sleeves.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:55 PM) :

Those are the Ferragamo sisters

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:57 PM) :

Those are the FERRAGAMO sisters

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:58 PM) :

She IS elegance!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:07 PM) :

Fulvia Visconti Ferragamo in black

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:11 PM) :

truly timeless! amazing from head to toe!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:14 PM) :

Great picture elegant

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (6:26 PM) :

I agree with all the above, impeccably elegant!

Blogger matt williams said ... (6:35 PM) :

I love it. There is just something about a woman is who over 40 and commits to "staying fly until she dies" that gets me.

Blogger pablo said ... (6:51 PM) :

she looks like a mexican grand dame

Blogger AnonymousUser1234 said ... (7:39 PM) :

The belt is interesting.

Blogger The Good Life in Virginia said ... (8:09 PM) :

yes, that is fulvia...the oldest sister who runs the shoe end of the business in black.

Blogger madameshawshank said ... (8:10 PM) :

Timeless indeed. I'll have the belt thank you:-)

Here, women who are so at ease with their very BEing they see no need to go under a knife..they have faces that live, that breath, that show emotion.

Exquisite..stunning..thanks a zillion Sart..one of my all time favourite images..

I can almost hear their voices.

Blogger Katy said ... (8:11 PM) :

These ladies are perfection!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:46 PM) :

I want her belt! Luscious leather! These two are sisters, no?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 PM) :

She looks fabulous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 PM) :

I'm going to have to agree with what other people have said: she just has on a little too much jewelry. But, I love her shoes, and her belt, so interesting. Wearing a few fewer accessories would make the great ones she selected really stand out.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:22 AM) :

everything is fabulous minus the shoes. i don't think they compliment the outfit well. The pointy black toe seems a little off with the neutral palette of colors she has going on.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:24 AM) :

That's what I want to epitomize as I get older! The urgency to always look sophisticated and have a great sense of style! Love the use of accessories as they do a thorough job of complimenting her look. Even the younger lady at the left can't help but smile and think this elder lady knows good taste!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:29 AM) :

Ladies who lunch?! What is wrong with you? These women W-O-R-K! Wake up and look around you. That world is GONE - and good riddance to it. There's a full rich life out there - engage with it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:47 AM) :

lately i feel like all the women on this blog are either mini-celebrities, models, or could-be models. how easy it is for them to look elegant and photogenic with their willowy, wispy frames. sure pleated pants look great on that woman down below, but i would look like an oompa loompa in them. i sometimes wonder to myself if my size will forever prevent people from seeing how polished and elegant i really feel. and here is the kicker. i am a size 2/4.

this woman is a breath of fresh air. she's still slim, but i can actually believe she was found by chance, and not calculation. she can be transplanted anywhere in time or place, and still fit in and stand out at the same time. more than any of the other women that have been posted recently, i feel that she is what this blog is about.

Blogger Dominica said ... (1:00 AM) :

trés chique...Love how this lady has mixed all these jewels together !
Her ring could be Pomellato ! A beautiful big piece with a wonderful lightcoloured stone...wow !

Blogger mette said ... (1:01 AM) :

Nice to see some mature elegance for a change. A nice belt and a bag(the little I can see of it) on the blond lady.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:43 AM) :

This is how I want to look someday. Thanks for the inspirations.

-VD-

Blogger Olviya said ... (3:32 AM) :

great choice of colors!
So she looks very sophisticated!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 AM) :

I love her accessories, I personally don't think they're too much...her clothes are clean and simple so the accessories gives her some added oomph.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:17 AM) :

Ild probably wear her jacket and im a man.

Blogger Hanna said ... (6:52 AM) :

Thats exactly how i want to look when i`m that age!

Blogger poeta fit, non nascitur said ... (7:23 AM) :

yess she is verry elegant. :D

Blogger Cate O'Malley said ... (8:46 AM) :

I love her entire look. The coat is graceful, her accessories are spot on. I particularly like the belt. I'm sure she has wonderful stories to tell.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:49 AM) :

Whoa. You have given a 50-something woman a reason to stay on weightwatchers. I want to be her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 AM) :

Love it, love it. Perfectly age appropriate yet so chic. I love the variations of tan and her amazing belt and shoes. I wish I could perfect that kind of jewelry layering.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:07 AM) :

Please keep posting pictures of fabulous older women. The Italians have so much style and they do tend to put on a lot of jewelry, but that's part of the look. It's an inspiration. Keep it up! You can also see how the exact trouser length and fit of the garments matters so much. Even if one isn't this sleek and slim, attention to those details can help you to look better. I'm in heaven over this one.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:07 AM) :

Very nice. I think the belt on the woman on the left is too much. It's a nice belt by itself, but in this ensemble it looks out of place. Overall, very nice and elegant. It refreshing to see a photo on this blog and not have to say "if I were 20 years younger. . ."

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

outside of being overaccessorized the lady in beige/tan looks fantastic. even just the bracelet gone...are they sisters? they look very chic and stylish.

Blogger TEXTSTYLES said ... (10:22 AM) :

i can only hope and wish every night to come out the other end like this... piaccere

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:28 AM) :

Everything she (in beige) is wearing looks beautiful and expensive but not inspiring to me in terms of personal style- it looks like you could order up the whole effect ready-made (if you had enough money to buy it). Elegant, safe and traditional but not interesting.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:28 AM) :

Gorgeous... and the best part - no face lift. She's absolutely beautiful!

Blogger Hadley Makes said ... (10:28 AM) :

I swoon over her belt and jacket.

The younger woman with her, who is equally well dressed and coiffed, looks so very much like her. If that's her daughter, the legacy will most certainly be carried on.

Blogger S (formerly of Modern-Guilt) said ... (10:42 AM) :

I sincerely hope and pray that I look this elegant and natural one day. She is wonderful.

Blogger melur said ... (11:03 AM) :

COOL!!! what's her job? ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 AM) :

I love the surprise touch of those shoes! Really makes the outfit.

Blogger Karin said ... (12:44 PM) :

I think that you can go with more accessories when you're certain age.

And OMG - this is the way I wanna look someday..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:51 PM) :

This really is an inspirational post for me. She took an outfit that would otherwise be rather simple and plain, an outfit that you might see on your next door neighbor and not give a second thought to, and she elevated it and made it unique, interesting, and elegant with the accessories. That is something I am always challeged by. I always have a hard time trying to figure out how to accessorize to give my basics some oomph. It's easier said than done. Bravo to her.

Blogger zincink said ... (3:38 PM) :

Reminds me of my former grandmother. Clean, classic and you can't forget your power beads

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

The elegant beige lady is let down by one thing: her hair. It's heavy and old fashioned, and needs a freer, looser, even shorter, cut, like the lady in black has. She is perfect - love the jacket coming to the hip.

Blogger Meg said ... (5:27 PM) :

I swear I could just give you a big ol' kiss every time you post photos of people over the age of 35. Keep it up. These women look fabulous.

Blogger hemoglobin said ... (3:19 AM) :

très très chic
classique..what can i say, she epitomizes it

Blogger Johanne M. Aa. Laache said ... (7:37 AM) :

Is that THE Band of Outsiders for Manolo Blahnik-shoes?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:09 AM) :

Please keep posting more pictures of older women in bcbg looks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

Totally amazing in the most sophisticated way...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 AM) :

Beige lady looks lovely, reminds me a lot of my aunt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:03 PM) :

real face, real taste, real deal.
i love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:58 PM) :

Fulvia Visconti Ferragamo, vice-president of Salvatore Ferragamo Italia and Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo, vice-president of the holding group Ferragamo Finanziaria. These are definitely hard-working ladies. They look great, but then again - do you expect anything less from the daughters of the Great Salvatore?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 PM) :

I also just have to add -- this is her actual face, with its wrinkles and wisdom . . . this is where the intelligence/sex appeal/elegance resides . . . in the lived face

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:04 AM) :

i can only hope to look this poised and elegant once i reach her age.

Blogger Starck Mad said ... (1:05 AM) :

The woman in the light-toned outfit is gorgeous....there is nothing wrong with her hair.

This is elegance personified.

Blogger Meander said ... (11:36 AM) :

satorialist, how on earth did you manage to read my mental note stating EXACTLY what I want to look like when I'm older. She's perfection! Proof that beauty knows nothing about age, gorgeous!

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (11:58 AM) :

Love it all. The Chanel cap toes are a great finishing touch.

Blogger la belle auberge said ... (4:20 AM) :

two perfect models of "sciure milanesi" (milanesi ladies).
best regards
eugenia

Blogger sadia said ... (12:17 PM) :

they looks like sisters.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 PM) :

They not only look classy, but comfortable (except for the heels). Proof you don't have to wear sweats to be comfy.
Sart, please make more categories on your site, with titles like Classic, Cute, Edgy, whatever. I love the Jewel Tones and Twins shots from Paris, too, but I am past that stage. I would like to search through a trove of "classic" shots when I need inspiration (and where I live, I won't get it from looking on the street!). Age is one thing, but the lovely woman eating an apple from a little while back would also fit a "classic" category.

Blogger nyc/caribbean ragazza said ... (5:52 AM) :

Maybe it's from living in Rome but I don't think she has on too many accessories. I think they help make the outfit.

I hope to be that chic when I'm that age. Hell I'd like to be that chic now.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 AM) :

she is the epitome of class and elegance. i love love love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:40 PM) :

totally murphy brown. i mean, it even says "press" in the back.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:45 PM) :

I want to see these elegant ladies past 50 more often. I need inspiration, too, and these two ladies are awesome. Thanks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:35 AM) :

They are so Italian!!;-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:17 PM) :

Very chic. Bon Chic, Bon Genre. Very Via Montenapoleone, 16th arr. Love how pulled together & "age appropriate" she looks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:11 PM) :

Say what you want - the "elderly" are the elegant ones. And this goes for these two ones.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:38 AM) :

che belle donne!! what beautiful women... truly stylish and so obviously comfortable with their age and bodies. italian women really do age like fine wines :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:17 AM) :

Timeless and ageless looks. She looks wonderful. The colour tones are perfect for her and this look moves from season to season with just the fabrics and accessories changing. Great shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:00 AM) :

I like the lady at the center of picture. She really represents elegance and intelligence of a woman.

Amazing shot...
