Before Balmain

The preshow model walkthru is almost like a fashion show-within-a-fashion show

I love the over-the-knee boots on the first model, especially with the torn tights. This all looks so exciting as well, it`s just building up hype in anticipation of the actual show.

Blogger Anastacia said ... (4:25 AM) :

Oh wow. Anya looks incredible. Do you have any more of these, i would love to see all the models especially Natasha Poly? Fab pics on here and style.com!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 AM) :

Anja!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 AM) :

Anja Rubik is sooo great on the SS09 catwalk! She makes every item look gorgeous (and me want to wear it:))
Great pictures! :]

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:13 AM) :

oh my god, anja does it so good..!

Blogger John B Pritchett said ... (5:36 AM) :

Great look in each photo. The top one is my favorite with the tall boots, serrated pants, and "dark night with a billion stars shining" shirt. I'm curious about the clothing in the walkthru. Is it personal or what will be seen during the show?

Blogger mette said ... (5:49 AM) :

Can´t find anything interesting about these clothes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:50 AM) :

I will have to agree with you on this one. It's a fashion show on it's own!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:33 AM) :

love anja's leggings!
anyone know where they're from?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:30 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:01 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:14 PM) :

Maryna Linchuck is one of my new favorite models.

Blogger Hannah Stephenson said ... (12:22 PM) :

I love seeing shots of the pre-show stuff. It looks so dark in there!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:31 PM) :

I love these shots!!! The outfits definitely could be a runway show all on their own - I agree with you!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 PM) :

Could you give us a little more info? I gather the models are taking a pre-show walk in their own clothes? Is that the usual? Are photographers usually allowed to be there when that happens?

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (1:08 PM) :

Especially love the first shot and first look (those pants are amazing). Also, I know they're models for a reason, but it's interesting to see how gorgeous these ladies are, even totally unretouched (I assume!)...their hair, skin, etc.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:19 PM) :

Very curious point of view about the backstage.
Cristina

Blogger Jennifer Camp Forbes said ... (1:34 PM) :

I am obsessed with these shots!

Thank you! I cannot get enough of your blog :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

A model walkthru? What is that all about? How about the electricians? If I were there, I'd like to see them too?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 PM) :

A little more than we mere mortals can pull off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:57 PM) :

Can't believe so many people are going on about the bag when he's wearing a totally awesome jacket that he underplays to perfection. This is how to wear a garment that could otherwise be very loud and scary. he keeps the rest of his outfit low-key and the first thing i really noticed was his strong handsome face accentuated by a shaved head. the coral T shirt is genius. Great post Sart. ps - today's photos for style.com are wonderful - the girl in the long furry coat and the beautiful pre-raphelite twins! - stunning!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:59 PM) :

anja is my new favorite love love love her and balmain is AMAZING!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

i really hoped this would'nt become like just any other fashion blog poasting catwalk feeling like images..Best

Blogger junglesiren said ... (9:59 PM) :

Love Anjas boots and leggings.

If you're really interested you can do a version of these with a pair of scissors and some basic black leggings. Make a cut and rip them with your hands - don't cut these holes - it's all about ripping. They may be a little more "raw" but they'll look just as good (maybe even better in a more punk way). Now, will you look as good in them as Anja.... that's another story.

Blogger Tigress said ... (10:11 PM) :

Those leggings...

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off of my keyboard.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 PM) :

this is much better than the actual balmain collection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 AM) :

wow, this is how models are normally dressed? I'm jealous...love every bit of what they're wearing though..especially, the first photo.

Blogger Marianna said ... (3:37 AM) :

you know what i love most about these photos? when you click on them for a larger view, i love all the shiny polished black shoe tips you see on the sides. that's the detail I love most here.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 AM) :

I believe the shoes in the second shot that Isabeli Fontana is wearing are the actual Balmain shoes from the show. All the shoes were gorgeous I hope they hit the stores in the not too distant future.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:33 AM) :

I can not see anything interesting on these photos, neither close or these girls, you made many more interesting photos just shooting on the street with some more feminine girls. Just my opinion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :

The knee high boots. Oh god, I want my me or my boyfriend to wear them. Even though it'll look ridiculous on two guys <3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:57 PM) :

** Not sure if its been mentioned but Anja's leggings are by Wolford :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 PM) :

LOVLEY pics! And thx for the good blog! Well done! /Sweden ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 PM) :

The jackets were incredible in this collection - So structured and almost balenciaga-like in architecture.

I bet Anya Rubik was as incredible during the run-through as she was at the actual show!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 AM) :

I LOOOOVE Balmain! ♥♥♥♥
What I love as well is to see what models are wearing in their free time. Thanks for bringing and showing us the style of them and other very fashionable people!!

Blogger Negar said ... (5:34 PM) :

Reminds me of Alexander Wang.

For the love of fashion, where can I purchase these cutout Wolford leggings?! I've been searching relentlessly..

Blogger Rhys said ... (8:35 PM) :

Ooooh, The first pic is so edgy and sexy. Though I love the way her hands are so dainty. Also while writing this i spotted the candelabra in the back of the first pic, which is quite beautiful against the pitch blackness.
Stunning girl stunning picture.
Well done old boy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:34 AM) :

your hilarious, first you say you are such a different breed to all the other runway photographers then your front and centre to shoot the repetition. yes, you make an amazing runway photographer. when noone else is there.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:08 PM) :

merry me anja???

Blogger Fashion Is Poison said ... (10:16 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:45 PM) :

Anja looks fabulous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:20 AM) :

wowwwww. picture 1 and 3 are absolutely genius

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:17 AM) :

In my experience-
Yes, models are well dressed- they have insider knowledge and coathanger physiques!
Yes, they wear their own clothes in walk-throughs.
Yes, often they wear the shoes, as they can be problematic.
The point of a walkthrough, depending on the show, is to check lighting, time the music, and familiarise models with the routine. And also, of course, to make sure it looks good!

Blogger la femme said ... (5:20 PM) :

I'm envious. Balmain would be a show to see.

Blogger Allison said ... (8:07 PM) :

the first woman is gorgeous.

Blogger Cotton Candy said ... (8:52 PM) :
