They are lovely. I feel grounded just looking at them.

Blogger External Enclosure said ... (5:47 PM) :

The background isn't like street, but the outfits looks so good :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:49 PM) :

This picture proves that real style doesn't have to be on his own, but they look like one person. They just fit with each other like their clothes fits themselves.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:53 PM) :

Nice Sweater.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:58 PM) :

The best accessory - an equally, classically dressed companion.

Blogger Z said ... (6:04 PM) :

Adorable!

I love his sweater and shirt combo with the shortened leg of the pant.

I wish my boyfriend dressed like this!

Blogger reneemudd said ... (6:06 PM) :

simply adorable...

Blogger Linda Thai said ... (6:14 PM) :

i do agree that this is really cute... but the look is kind of getting overdone everyone is doing it now and there is nothing too special aboutit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:14 PM) :

i still don't understand the mini-rolled up jeans, but i do understand the shoes.
-voyno.

Blogger Veronica TM said ... (6:20 PM) :

yes, too cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 PM) :

I am sorry to say, this is very very 'Plain Jane' to me. Why are their facial expressions looking so utterly ... depressed?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:36 PM) :

Power Couple!

Check out an amazing site:

Blogger e l l e said ... (6:49 PM) :

I wonder if their personal styles were different before they met?

Blogger Nina (Femme Rationale) said ... (7:43 PM) :

they really compliment each other very well. and i love that you chose a minimalist background to showcase their minimalist style.

Blogger Miguel said ... (7:58 PM) :

Lovely pic, lovely couple... I like the color of his shoes very much.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 PM) :

Nice shoes, brother. Hmm, I like it.

Blogger AnonymousUser1234 said ... (8:46 PM) :

Her shoes are my favorite part of this look. Something old fashion in a look that could have been minimalist.

Blogger Bella07 said ... (8:48 PM) :

completely in sync. minimal

Blogger OnTheCorner said ... (9:02 PM) :

beautiful portrait,
besides their own styles,
this just look great to me

Blogger Squally Reach said ... (9:06 PM) :

Lovely, elegant, minimal, and they look comfortable too. Beautiful image.

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (9:09 PM) :

Amazing shot. What in the world was the background- it looks like a studio photo except for the slightly visible texture under their feet.I wonder how you did that? They look great individually and together. I think their personal styles ARE different, but definitely sympatico. Sweet.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

i don't understand the background of this photo. they seem to be floating. i'd like to see the street around them. love how their styles complement each other.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:34 PM) :

kawaii. they are fabulous, charming, so classy. who dresses whom? just kidding. they probably were attracted by each other's dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:56 PM) :

Great looking couple wearing quality clothing. They do look happy!

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:52 PM) :

I love the bag and rolled up sweater. I would try that look if it weren't so warm out. I don't know about the fit of his jeans, though. A bit wide.

And is that background really street?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 PM) :

simply beautiful. timely. love her hair. love it all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:18 PM) :

ugh i love this. so simple.

Blogger David said ... (11:46 PM) :

Anyone know who makes his shoes and bag? They're fantastic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:52 PM) :

how is that on the street.. cute though.

Blogger THE DAY AFTER YOU DIE said ... (11:53 PM) :

His shoes are cool.... i wish the trogan sandal shoe thing was over..its kinda tired with the exception of the punk spike ones i saw somewhere the other day.

(they look like they would be nice neighbors)

Blogger EM said ... (12:55 AM) :

the bag doesn't look like it would be hard to find, but any leads? share.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

Simple. Very nice!

Blogger Kenny Cho said ... (1:14 AM) :

Such a humbling photo. Simply fashionable.

Blogger magstermash said ... (1:27 AM) :

Awwww...they are cute.

It looks like a studio picture.

Blogger Brie said ... (1:37 AM) :

Two Fake. On the street? You must mean in the studio. Perhaps some of the other street photography could be staged as well? I find this shot very bothersome, it takes away from admiration I had for your on the spot abilities as a photographer and fashion journalist. How do we know a whole team of people didn't dress these people up? I cant appreciate the idea as much if I think it's all made up. sorry.

Blogger Saucy said ... (2:17 AM) :

Diggin' him more than her but I'm not sure why.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:35 AM) :

haha, its the man who's carrying the big bag...nice gender bender photo.
i really like the thin turn-up..almost not there..but adds to the look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 AM) :

basic without looking armish...there is nothing superfluous about these two. they kind of transcend fashion. my favourite outfits in a while.

Blogger Michael Joseph Owens said ... (2:48 AM) :

They are both so beautiful! This picture is all about balance. They're perfectly balanced in all the surface ways.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:41 AM) :

I like her shoes. They make such a nice couple.... aaaahhh. So beautifully dressed and so well matched like a pair of shoes. Or a matching shoes and handbag set.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:44 AM) :

Cute together and separately. I like how she's toned down the ethereal dress with cute dark flats and chic cropped hair, and his shoes and sweater are gorgeous.

Blogger S. said ... (3:52 AM) :

She is adorable!! One of the most inspiring pictures I have seen in a while.. 5" heels are fine.. but its becoming the norm, this looks fresh.

Blogger Diana said ... (3:59 AM) :

they are really cute.
And the lady has beautiful legs.

It is really like a studio-photo.
It would be interesting to find them in 20 years again :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 AM) :

Three cheers!
Break out the '64 mod style book! Throw in a tote and hey presto, you've got a great look.

(PS. Mr S. why haven't you been in London? Paul on Floral St could be someone interesting to have a conversation with; your styles are well suited)

Blogger gospodina cu opinii said ... (4:42 AM) :

they look absolutely fabulous.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:03 AM) :

The background looks like studio..but they definately look great... love his bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 AM) :

por fin me animo a dejar un comentario. este blog supone para mi una fuente de inspiracion diaria y ayuda a que mis mañanas sean menos grises.
gracias

sorry about my english

Blogger DJ said ... (6:04 AM) :

I really love their look. Does anyone recognize the tote?

Blogger Lorentzo said ... (6:34 AM) :

LOVE*

Blogger LINnY said ... (6:35 AM) :

This photo reminds me of a contemporary spin of the painting ¨American Gothic,¨ by Grant Wood. They each have similar dispositions and blank expressions.

Blogger OndrejS said ... (6:41 AM) :

The guy is just such a perfect match. I love how the inside of his jeans works with the sweater. Shows great creativity!!
Overall I am quite sick and tired of jeans as so many people overuse them. But here they are worn in such a perfect way!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:15 AM) :

Wonderful! Her shoes are toooo cute:)
Ivy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:38 AM) :

boring. It's not even in da streets Sat. Wazzup?

Blogger Anonymous said ... (7:44 AM) :

I adore nice people and love love love a nice t-strap flat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 AM) :

If thats "on the street" then NY has disappeared into a vast white black hole!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:02 AM) :

THIS is on the street?

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (8:02 AM) :

Love her outfit, which is basically two classic items put together. He uses classic/basics as well. Not sure whether I liked the mini-roll up legs. In combination with the sweater below the waist, they make his legs look even shorter. My legs are on the short side too, that's how I know! Great pair- was this photo taken on the street? Jorge from W Palm Beach

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:28 AM) :

To pull off this look, a girl's gotta have nice legs. She's got great ones. I am green with envy. I like what the guy's wearing too...very cool couple/siblings(?).

Blogger InStudio Blog said ... (8:29 AM) :

They go together like peas and carrots.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 AM) :

like a set of salt & pepper shakers! i love them...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 AM) :

lovely. easy cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

My boyfriend dresses just like this, because he's French. Its funny how you notice it in the U.S., but in Europe shirt and sweater and jeans and nice shoes is a basic uniform...

Her outfit I love, however, and they do have a great synergy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:51 AM) :

I worked with this guy. He always had great style, and no wonder-he is a kick-ass graphic designer and the nicest and funniest guy!

Blogger meredith said ... (10:56 AM) :

Absolutely to die for! I love her shoes, his cuffed pants, her dress, his hat, I just love it all!

Does anyone know what you would call that style of shoe? I wore them as a child, and I know they aren't mary janes....is it just a t-strap?

Blogger norawoah said ... (11:03 AM) :

On what magical street is this?
Love her T-Strap shoes.

Blogger Keisha Kornbread said ... (11:56 AM) :

I LOVE THIS!!! They look amazing and make me smile!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:58 AM) :

love the tote... does anyone know where to find it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

Who makes her dress? Could this be inside a tent at Fashion Week? That seems more likely than "on the street" though it is a semi-public place and could be considered philosophically to be "the street". They are certainly not hired models, so I suppose it is "on the street" in terms of street vs. couture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 PM) :

HELP! His shoes are awesome, anyone know where they came from?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:37 PM) :

WHERE did he get those awesome shoes????

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:19 PM) :

great couple! please - does anyone know who makes that tote?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:33 PM) :

Hi Scott - I just wanted to mention that now that this shot has found it's way over to your site from style.com it is the young lady's second appearance on your site. The first:

I like his shoes and that he's showing his socks. And she's absolutely lovely. Great couple.

Blogger Nadine said ... (3:35 PM) :

So fantastic. Completely practical yet beautiful. So nice to see a change from ladies in high-maintenance hair/bags/shoes. They both look terrific.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:30 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

I'll trade you info on the bag for info on his shoes...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:28 PM) :

this is honestly so lovely

Blogger Carolyn said ... (11:10 AM) :

Her dress is from Philip Lim's "Green Collection"
And she looks amazing in it!

Blogger hoi said ... (12:05 AM) :

not to plug my favourite hand-made bag brand, but you can find similar big leather bags on www.nivaldodelima.com. i have nivaldo's kenya bag and it's such a classic accessory.

her shoes are an absolute staple. where can i find a pair like that? i'll fly out of my little island/country just to get them.

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (3:57 AM) :
