On the Street.....Little Bit of Sparkle, Soho

This dress is perfectly simple and breezy for a hot Summer day.

For me, the difference between her dress and the multitudes of other dresses on the street right now is that little bit of gold metallic sparkle in the stripe. It gave the fabric the little bit of depth that worked perfectly with/against the sheerness of the weave. This fabric is pretty common and not usually one of my favorites but here it looked so great.

I agree, her dress looks cool and urbane. It works well with her short hair and 'barely there' make up. I like the way she's kept her accessories to a minimum - her necklace enhances the look. The only thing i'd change are the gladiators.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 AM) :

this is an Erin Featherston dress isn't it? I love how she matched it with gladiators!

My favorite here is not the outfit but the model, she looks so fresh and happy, and she appears to be makeup-free! My take on fabrics with stripes (subtle as they may be) is that the stripes distract from the construction of the dress, which in this case I am not particularly fond of. I bet you will get enough comments on the gladiator sandals so I will leave those alone. Once again, you broke one of the rules of photography on having the sun behind the subject, and you made it work! Jorge from W Palm Beach

The legs and hair make the outfit. Oh and the shoes, too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:10 AM) :

If I were think like that I would wear that everyday.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (9:19 AM) :

The neckline is really pretty too--both the cut and the embroidery detail.

Blogger Ebun said ... (9:21 AM) :

she's cute

Blogger stacy said ... (9:21 AM) :

the simple heart pendant finishes it off brilliantly.

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (10:00 AM) :

This young lady "has it going on".
If I were 20 years younger, and saw her on the street...

Extremely cute. Love the gamine look.

If she's single, I'm rich.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

Her minimal makeup is great and shows her facial beauty.

Other than that (invaluable) natural asset I can't see much that isn't identikitted right across all the usual cities and more to that point, endless provincial towns.

(I'm pleased to see lot's of people disagree, wouldn't the world be boring if we didn't?)

Blogger Olviya said ... (10:13 AM) :

very fresh! thats true...
and heart is so lovely! :)

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:13 AM) :

I'm don't like all the details of the dress, but I agree the sheer fabric works well with it's silhouette. That fabric can look cheap-it needs to be put to the right application. The model is great and yes, here come the gladiator comments- I'm more tired of those than of the shoes themselves but I'll venture forth and say they look fine here.

Blogger S (formerly of Modern-Guilt) said ... (10:46 AM) :

She looks very beautiful, I like the dress on her.

Blogger porter hovey said ... (10:52 AM) :

Just adore the dress, the necklace, and the hair! She's adorable.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:54 AM) :

Beautiful dress!

Blogger STEFANIE said ... (10:57 AM) :

It's nice to see how everything fits together so perfectly, the shoes and the dress, the gold thread with the necklace, just wonderfull!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 AM) :

Not for me at all, but on her it's cute. It looks like a difficult style for most people to pull off. You have to have the right face, coloring, and figure, and she's got them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:15 AM) :

A great dress, and her perfect legs and face are certainly factors in how amazing she looks. Beauty like this doesn't need adornment, and so the minimalist look really works for her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:51 AM) :

very lovely and nice shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 PM) :

She looks cute-chic in this dress.

"Gold striped sparkle" which gives it the depth looks like a vintage dress and the part around the neck does ethnic,,,maybe,,,eastern european?

Gold heart necklace and gradiators with her dress are good.

Blogger Candace said ... (12:45 PM) :

LOVE this!!!

Blogger Teena Vallerine said ... (12:49 PM) :

The dress looks wonderfully cool and beautiful, but what happens if there's a breeze. There's nothing more scary than a dress that won't behave in a summer breeze! This one looks like it might not - and then what happens to keeping one's cool?! t.x

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (12:54 PM) :

Agreed - she looks great. I like the shorter-length gladiators too.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (1:16 PM) :

i like how you took the picture.

did you use a lenscap agains the brightness of the sunlight?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:48 PM) :

i hate it how i think i can see her underwear. Is this my idea only?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:05 PM) :

Very cute quirky gamine look. I agree with you about the stripes--the dress would have been awfully boring and maybe overly goth in flat black.

Blogger junglesiren said ... (2:35 PM) :

She looks great. Beautiful girl, nice hair, gorgeous legs. I'm not big on the tent dress but with those legs she's working the hell out of it. Fresh, comfy and chic. And if you must wear gladiator sandals this is a great way to do them.

Blogger ross and jenna said ... (2:39 PM) :

i love the gladiators with the dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

Love, love the accessories. The gladiator shoes besides the gold trinket heart necklace, caught my attention. her look is very minimalistic and that's a good match for a hot summer day in Soho. ^^

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:25 PM) :

I think this look is quite unremarkable, even the gold lining, which is a fresh idea, really doesn't amount to much when paired with gladiator shoes which are at the height of current trends. Such a pretty girl should be able to muster up an outfit a little more substantial.

Blogger Matthew Mikulice said ... (4:04 PM) :

Confidence is key, this girl shines and this wonderful outfit makes a world of a difference.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 PM) :

Black on a beautiful summer's day...

Blogger adabeie said ... (7:17 PM) :

Cute! But frankly the sandals are too chunky to go with this outfit, as far as I'm concerned, though they do look quite comfortable.

Blogger Rui said ... (7:39 PM) :

since august the 6th that we haven't agreed on one single look...

Blogger aviewaskew said ... (8:26 PM) :

very new school audrey hepburn...kinda reminds me of thandie newton as well...gamine face~~ adorable...outfit works for her, love the sandals...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:27 PM) :

She's lovely. I want this dress for myself !

Blogger Eleazar Quest said ... (8:41 PM) :

I think she is incredibly charming. She looks as if she woke up and threw it on. Absolutely no effort, is what makes it so fashionable.

Blogger Jean said ... (8:58 PM) :

The pigeon toed stance, the baby-doll dress, the heart pendant... gee-gosh, it's just awfully darn cute.
PS The model herself is lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:03 PM) :

Urban and cute! I don't like any of the individual pieces she's wearing, but she's pulled them together into a outfit that really suits her.

The reason I visit this blog is to see this kind of adroit, person-on-the-street style. Bravo!

Blogger O!Lightning said ... (9:21 PM) :

she is way beyond beautiful. The look is cute, her necklace and inspired nail polish color help her rock it.

Blogger Tsar Kasim said ... (10:25 PM) :

Agreed about the stripes...that is all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:49 PM) :

I think she looks great in the dress; it works for her. Love the lack of makeup and accessories, and her slight smile; she looks beautiful. I agree, the minimalism looks great and comfortable for a summer day.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:51 PM) :

She looks like a toned-down Rihanna.

Blogger Keesean said ... (11:13 PM) :

i dont know if i am more excited about the quality of this photo

her sandals

or the dress

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:38 PM) :

She looks pure and beautiful.

Such a beautiful face and hair! The rest is periphery really.

Blogger gabrielazeanadal@hotmail.com said ... (5:26 AM) :

That fabric is not one of my favourites either, but I agree it looks OK on her. However, I think that is more an afternoon-evening look.

Blogger lotte freckles said ... (5:59 AM) :

I love this look and miss NYC hot summers.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 AM) :

the heart pendant gives an art of that dress.. its simple yet sophisticated...

Blogger so said ... (10:18 AM) :

this is my idea of a perfect summer look!

she looks like she could just about go anywhere in this ensemble...love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 PM) :

A compliment on the photo ... and other recent photos.

I've noticed an improvement in your photos like this one, where in the past they seemed to be a bit too 'atmospheric' for us to see the subject fully when the exposure was set more to the backlighting. Of late, though, your shots have been much 'better' exposed, so we can see the clothing details, at the potential expense of having an over-exposed background.

Good work!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:51 PM) :

To be fair, she could make a paper bag look terrific. She looks like such a sprite that were it not for the clunky shoes she could fly away - maybe they are the only things keeping her on the ground.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 AM) :

pretty girl. she could do sooo much better than this outfit. no problem with these gladiators but not too keen on the pendant really. it all looks a bit chain store and dull.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 PM) :

You're right, because instead of the typical weave which is to run the gold stitching horizonally the stripes are vertical and that makes the difference. It makes this little dress more enchanting!

Blogger A. said ... (11:36 PM) :

GORGEOUS :)
