That dress is beautiful, and the gladiators provide a nice contrast. Love how the wind makes the dress flow in the photograph!! I also really like the dress of the lady on the far right, although I'm not too keen on her shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 AM) :

Love the dress with those shoes <3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:18 AM) :

love it - so so beautiful.

damn but you need a skinny little frame to pull those dresses off though don't you?

she looks amazing.

Blogger Sylvie said ... (8:26 AM) :

Is this Irina Lazareanu?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:27 AM) :

fantastic! the light, the movement, the colors, the composition. a beautiful photograph before one even focuses in on the clothes.

Blogger gabrielazeanadal@hotmail.com said ... (8:34 AM) :

Wow! This is one of the best pictures you've taken recently!

I love those people in black smiling, the white gorgeous dress combined with the roman style sandals, the wind, the gesture, the woman in the short pink dress, the light. Life! Summer!

Blogger emily said ... (8:47 AM) :

omg, i'm really impressed by this outfit and the perfect photograph!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

Love the shoes and blowing in the wind dress :)))

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:56 AM) :

talking with the hands...lovely,I do it myself...lovely shot, with lovely friends, all very chic...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 AM) :

Those are the most amazing gladiator sandals i have ever seen. Please tell me you asked her where she got them! Her dress is beautiful to.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:08 AM) :

so fun and pretty, makes me wish I was there instead of the rainy midwest today! my only sad comment is I wish more lovely clothes these days had pockets - at least a tiny hidden one somewhere - so we wouldn't have to see all of these ugly, clutched cell phones. somehow it ruins the magic of a fantastic shot like this - grounds the moment in reality when it could have been more dreamlike without the phone. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

what makes me smile about European women is their hair...there is no flat iron, curler, or hours worth of work put into perfecting every strand..they find beauty in the hair's natural state, normally leaving it flowing in the wind or tied up into an imperfect yet gorgeous ponytail...
besides that, i would love to own the floral dress and also the shoes of the woman in black

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:20 AM) :

beautiful. the dress isn't too bad either.

Blogger The Happiest Activist said ... (10:00 AM) :

There are too many chic Parisians in this picture...it's blinding! I love the loose tie around the man's neck.

Blogger Miguel said ... (10:01 AM) :

Very ece photo... I like her dress, specially her sandals, very lovely sandals.

Blogger Supercalifashionista said ... (10:06 AM) :

The gladiators with that flowing dress is truly breathtaking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 AM) :

the gladiators are actually a nice juxtaposition with the flowy dress. and the shoes of the woman in black behind her are fierce.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 AM) :

Perfect!
Love the contrast between the dress and the gladiators :)
Is she Irina?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 AM) :

Who is this angel? Although the face is not shown, she projects an ethereal joy...And the shoes are fantastic.Same with the light, flowing dress.

Blogger EBIII said ... (10:50 AM) :

Even though Irina is the main focus, I love that everyone in the photo is equally stylish and it looks so nonchalant and effortless. Great job Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:52 AM) :

When I'm in Paris, I see people dressed as how I think people should dress. I mean everyday people in everday places: the streets, the parks, the metro--walking, on scooters, on bicycles. There is a uniformity there, which is conservative even, but I like that too in a way, because transgression is not so much an issue. Even plain clothes cops dress cool. I would love to see some of this on your blog. Workers, students ... there is a variety of people in Paris. Have you thought of going into the tenth or the eighteenth? I know your audience is very much interested in top down fashion. Still, there is more to show than just models at events. Show us a little of what people are wearing in Paris today. I'm sorry if this comes across as criticism. It's not really. I would just like to see your take on a wider variety of people.

Blogger Karen said ... (11:13 AM) :

Not hot on gladiator sandals in general (except on hot gladiators), but I like the fun, floaty dress. But really -- I'd like to see more of the little black dress just behind it. Such a teasing picture, half-blotting out something of interest!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:15 AM) :

beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 AM) :

Goodness, this is fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 AM) :

So far, I'm not impressed with the outfits from Paris. I though they were ahead of us, but I'm not seeing it here. Gladiator shoes are getting pretty tired looking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 AM) :

Love this photo ... the movements, the light, the people's smile !!
And the dress also !

Blogger dionho97 said ... (11:39 AM) :

yes, i think she is Irina Lazareanu.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 AM) :

I couldn`t find those gladiators anywhere in Argentina or Brazil!
loving your work as ussual..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:58 AM) :

Nice! Love the shoes with this romantic and pretty, pretty dress! And: I LOVE Paris!

Blogger Rice and Beans Vintage said ... (12:00 PM) :

Oh the whole lot of them are fantastic! I'd love to know what they are talking about.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:11 PM) :

oooh, I loved that dress, and the gladiators made it look so chic and stylish.
also love the whole look of the girl in the right. nice shoes.

Blogger Cecilia said ... (12:16 PM) :

Love the shoes :D

Blogger Tiffiny said ... (12:17 PM) :

i had the same thought, it definitely looks like irina.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

i wanna make part of this group!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

The fantastic four.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 PM) :

wonderful picture of the beau monde in Paris...the dress, shoes and her hair are perfect together. thanks Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:59 PM) :

They all look happy, yes...and the photo is lovely, of course...but doesn't the center girl look like she's in one seriously expensive nightie? And I wish, I wish, I wish those stupid gladiator sandals would go away already. They're like the Uggs of summer 2008!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:01 PM) :

Is this Irina Lazareanu AND Leigh Lezark in the same photo? Fabulous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:04 PM) :

a beautiful full length floaty dress with gladiator shoes.........PERFECT!!!

Blogger Tea Lady said ... (1:05 PM) :

You have to have long thin legs to pull off those gladiators! She does it beautifully. An amazing dress. I too love the dress on the far right. what a pretty girl. The shoes are wrong though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:08 PM) :

very effortless and chic...another amazing photo sart. job well done

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:17 PM) :

OK, the composition of this photograph is beautiful but I don't see even one sartorial statement in it to like. I really don't get it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:19 PM) :

i was just thinking the same thing elsais!

Blogger Mistress Cynica said ... (1:20 PM) :

I love all of them - so young, so chic, so impossibly cool and European. Thank you for a lovely photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

I am so sick of these gladiator sandals.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:03 PM) :

Gorgeous. She looks like a butterfly ready to take flight.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:35 PM) :

is that leigh lezark of the misshapes in the background laughing?

Blogger kaś said ... (2:39 PM) :

I love this photo!! I have nothing intelligent to say!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:00 PM) :

Part of why I love the Sartorialist is the fashion mugshot format. There is a sense of exposure the subjects relinquish to Scott in that format. While this is a perfectly lovely picture, it doesn't grab at me like his typical photojournalist style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM) :

I love that dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 PM) :

What a nice candid! I imagine they are all talking about how fabulous they are.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:24 PM) :

amazing gladiators.
fantastic photograph.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:40 PM) :

I simply can not get enough of this picture. The interplay between the people in it and their clothes, the gestures, the light, the perfect way the woman's face is framed by the raised arms. It's tremendously inspiring for so many reasons. Incredible, thank you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:19 PM) :

Flower child dress plus gladiator sandals is a thrilling sweet/savory contrast. Very Penelope Tree. To see how contrast can fall flat, look to the baby doll dress/elf boots on the right. Most unfortunate.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:20 PM) :

i love it. almost like a french-bohemian wedding!

Blogger tavelhus said ... (4:22 PM) :

Soo inspiering!
Maria from Sweden

Blogger A La Femme said ... (4:47 PM) :

I love the tiered lace dress the woman in the back is wearing. Gorgeous!!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (4:51 PM) :

Beautiful shot!

Blogger aviewaskew said ... (4:54 PM) :

captivating..fresh and frothy....she has them enthralled..love the pink dress to the right best...he looks like vincent gallo. great photo, i feel like i am there beside them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 PM) :

Those shoes are just perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:25 PM) :

I thought this was Irina Lazareanu too, although it's funny that I thought I could recognise someone without even really seeing their face! Still, is it?

Great shot. I'm not sure about the extremely high gladiators, but I think I could be won over.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:28 PM) :

Elsais...I think it's Irina <3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:57 PM) :

you want to see this everyday? go to wicker park in Chicago. or Soho

Blogger erin de la cruz said ... (7:03 PM) :

Oh, the gladiators caught my attention. =)

Blogger Michelle said ... (7:19 PM) :

wow!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:41 PM) :

Everyone looks fab!

Blogger Olimpia Liberti said ... (7:54 PM) :

WOW!!! What a picture!! I simply love it! There's such a life in it... beautiful beautiful!

Blogger Peter Breese said ... (8:04 PM) :

love the way the wind is moving her dress along the same motion as her gesture - perfect

the shoes are such a wonderful contrast to the dress

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:24 PM) :

Great dress. But all I can think about is how thin she is :o

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 PM) :

what a glorious photo. love the balance of the people in black on the left with the girls in flowy white and beige on the right. i'm also intrigued by the gentleman's clothing. what is he wearing around his neck? his jacket looks amazing.

Blogger j said ... (8:51 PM) :

fabulous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:25 PM) :

I dont know.. I dont like her half-calf gladiators.. :S

Blogger Shen-Shen said ... (10:10 PM) :

I must have those gladiators!

Blogger Maggie May said ... (10:35 PM) :

love the dress on the far right too but hate the shoes with it.

Blogger . said ... (10:40 PM) :

thank you so much for this. i really love what you've captured of her here. she's my all-time favourite. i'm also amused by the rare smiling moment from leigh. really impressed with your recent photos.

Blogger the sophisticat said ... (10:48 PM) :

Beautiful group shot. Great dress on the girl right at the edge of the frame.

Blogger jenna alice said ... (11:00 PM) :

i really hope this is a wedding... this is exactly how i imagine mine to be::
wearing a kick ass dress,
amazing shoes
& high five(ing) afterward!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 PM) :

these words pop into my head when i look at this picture:
beauty, goddess, happiness, ethereal, angel.

lovely picture sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 PM) :

I wish you saw groups of chic, interesting people like that every day. I mean, don't you want to be friends with them the second you see them? All so well dressed, so happy, so engrossed in each other. I'm so loving that pink flapper dress--it's even more fascinating than the floral in the center. And the guy's tie and his shoes are so unique!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 PM) :

This is an amazing photograph, on so many levels.

Blogger belle said ... (11:44 PM) :

ooh nice dress, i like how it billows in the wind and how eveyone seems completely oblivous to the photo being taken.

Blogger starbahks said ... (1:16 AM) :

this whole scene is amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:18 AM) :

I hate gladiator sandals. Unattractive.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:21 AM) :

What a photograph!
They look so happy and chic
:)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 AM) :

love the shoes all of them are wearing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 AM) :

omg! love it, so beautiful. love how the wind has blown the fabric such that it allowed for a perfect shot of those sandals! wonderful. and the far edge of the dress looks torn... ?? even better! the whole shot just looks so "spontaneous".

Blogger lily said ... (4:45 AM) :

The best accessory they all have is their amazing smile, and despite that sophistication and chic, the simplicity of being just a bunch of friends enjoying the moment and the sun..

It makes me feel good just to look at that lovely snapshot of life.

Thank you for that Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:38 AM) :

It does look like Irina Lazareanu! She looks gorgeous. I also love the girl in the tiered dress on the right. Cute.

Blogger Helen James said ... (6:03 AM) :

love this photo really captures a moment, but i have to say the gladiator sandal is one of my least favourite of the current trends.i feel there is something so uneffortless about them and true style i feel should LOOK effortless even if it isn't. i agree also that the black booties don't work with the pink dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:08 AM) :

amazing!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 AM) :

John Galliano on the left?

Blogger sugarxnspice said ... (7:27 AM) :

This is all kinds of lovely..... the clothes, the people, the atmosphere. Go Mr Sart.!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:15 AM) :

Great stuff! I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up a copy of Madame Figaro in Paris yesterday and saw a whole article on you and your photos, excellent coverage, good show!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:33 AM) :

it looks like something zooey deschanel would do

Blogger DRESSEDMen.com said ... (9:37 AM) :

If you want to wear gladiators, than these are the ones more women should buy!

Blogger Runner Girl said ... (11:14 AM) :

love the gladiator sandals!

Blogger leather girl said ... (12:27 PM) :

I was just in paris last week, and this truly captures it. J'adore.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:38 PM) :

More like the fabulous four.

The women look beautiful but I absolutely hate the man's tie...he looks like the remanence of a poorly wrapped present.

Blogger dwashington314@gmail.com said ... (1:11 PM) :

I have always had a thing for gladiator shoes! She looks great! Now if only someone could figure out a way to do gladiators for men. Is anyone doing them? Years ago International Male (!) did them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:27 PM) :

Gorgeous dress! Gladiator sandals are okay, not too crazy about them. The pinkish dress on the right is really nice too but yea the shoes really don't work. But a beautiful photo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:34 PM) :

Fantastic how her dress jumps out so you have no choice but to wake up and follow that movement. And then to catch the energy of the rest of the picture as well!

Pretty sure it's not Leigh Lezark in the background though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:44 PM) :

That's Peter Oquendo on the right, he manages the Dior Homme in LA and used to work at the New York Store. He's like a big teddy bear. And I think Leigh Lezark is framed by Irina's hands? Cackling like a maniac!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:05 PM) :

she's wearing an engagement ring?

Blogger Sung said ... (3:35 PM) :

love this picture

Blogger Lucy said ... (7:13 PM) :

haha this is a great shot, a moment of pure fun!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:52 PM) :

i like it on a model, bu i would do a short dress with long sandals, and long dress with short sandals usualy. this oufit seems to work pretty well nontheless with this outfit though. I wnat to go back to Paris. i was there in the winter, what a summer it would be there!!-AMD

Blogger The Urban Gentleman Blog said ... (10:56 PM) :

really great photo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

Must have took a long time to strap into those extreme gladiators! :)

Blogger Paris Tarts said ... (1:16 AM) :

I really love the backdrop and the floral dress is divine! Although I'm not digging the sandels..but the french black half boots and shell lace dress is beautiful!!

Check my blog sometime?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:21 AM) :

Where can I get a pair without the back strap?? Where, where? Please if you know/have seen/own apair of gladiator sandals (anywhere in the world) that are champagne coloured that go up toward the knee and have a durabilty and wearability please post on the sartorialist. Thankyou.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 AM) :

I love the dress of the woman on the right side as well as the black sandals of the girl in the middle.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:52 AM) :

such a fresh, modern, vibrant picture, and yet it exudes a certain 1920s vibe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:09 AM) :

I read the article about you in the French Paris Match, and I was very pleased for you to see once again how the journalists are more and more aware of your capacities and the greatness of your blog :)

Blogger Johanne said ... (1:03 PM) :

Love the dress! Very flowy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

Nice photograph, but to me wearing "tough" gladiator sandals with a feminine floral dress is so cliche and overdone.

Blogger person said ... (3:52 PM) :

very inspiring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 PM) :

would it be weird if i made this my background? i love this picture and could look at it all day!!

The colors in this photograph are so beautiful!

Those are not Parisians, thats Irina Iazareanu in the flowy dress and Leigh Lezark behind her!

Blogger Shopaholic D said ... (9:59 PM) :

i think this is the first time i've liked the super-tall gladiator sandals on someone. i like her dress better, though.

:) D

Blogger Debbie Shiamay said ... (10:17 PM) :

This photo looks do cute and natural. The dress flows beautifully with the wind and the sandals are just magnificent!

Blogger DATALOG said ... (10:50 PM) :

Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:13 AM) :

I love the pink dress so much I could cry for wanting it. Where? Oh where??

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:14 AM) :

So as everyone can see, it was totally not cool to bring your derrier to the shows this season. These outfits are SOOOO cliche.

So, is it only me who can see the guy in the bleached jeans and checked shirt? I certainly couldn't look at this shot all day with a man channelling "Old Navy" in the shot.

...and I agree with a previous post - gladiators are the UGGS of summer 08.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 PM) :

This is Irina and I would like to point out that she is Canadian, born in Romania... to all of you commenting on the parisianess of her style, her hair, etc.

IT IS LOU DOILLON - NOT IRINA. OK BYE.

i love the black sandal and the flowy dress of the girl at right. you know where i can buy a dress like this? (i'm french)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:17 PM) :

is this irina lazareanu? the hair is a bit of a give-away.. and so is her frame size. lou doillon to me has a bit more flesh on her tbh and i know for a fact she is rarely seen without her usual kooky style. the dress is v. irina..

Blogger mademoiselleb said ... (12:17 PM) :

Yes I'm pretty sure she is Irina Lazareanu.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

It's interesting to see Irina and Oliver in such a casual setting.
