Comments on "Jazz-Age Lawn Party on Governors Island, New York"
beautiful! wish i could have been there
Beautiful. That's an outfit to beat this heat in :)
Oh, la, la, la, la ...
She's not the norm on your blog, but she's yummy. She chose a color complimenting her skin tone so nicely and the lady is lovely.
The onesie comeback is a beautiful thing.
wow, great look, especially the colors! i like the flowers, without them the outfit could have been a bit boring. nice hair, too.
it's nice to see someone with a pretty watch
She is radiant. This photo is especially painterly to me. gorgeous!
A beautiful girl in a beautiful outfit.
Pretty photo Sart and pretty lady too, very timeless. I love the colors, I would have but those flowers as a hat and a very long necklace would make this look more jazzy.
Better than similar model off duty look, Beautiful!!!!!
Love everything about it, the background, outfit, hair, accesoiries..
Very lovely!
I am so glad The Sartorialist is reporting on the fashion at this party! I had planned my outfit and posted more inspirational clothes on my blog and then came down with a sore throat and couldn't go! I am glad someone rocked the romper. Hot. I wish I could see her shoes... T-straps I hope?
Ooh, so beautiful. The cascade of flowers is great. And thank you for photographing a woman who isn't stick-thin. It's good to see. She looks amazing.
Love the corsage. But isn't the watch (or at least the watch band) an anachronism?
This look is fabulous, love her!
I'd like it if it fit properly. But it looks uncomfortable and she knows it.
so 'onesies' are coming back, eh? they are cute and make sense for summer, but they remind me so much of the 1-piece gym uniforms we wore in the 60s.....ours were a pleasant yellow, but who wants to remember high school gym?
still, this is a lovely pic, as they all are--thanks, Sart!
i'd love to see what shoes she paired with this outfit!
her addition of the flowers makes the outfit perfect for the occasion - creative thinking makes the look for me.
what a beautiful colour! i love the flowers on her jumpsuit, such a lovely touch.
i just wish she was smiling more!
she's cute. nice peach color!
The flowers are the key piece of the outfit :o)
What a lovely girl! Very sexy feminine shapes :o)
Amazing, love it!
The colors of her outfit make her glow! And the flowers are a pretty touch.
A gorgeous woman, and that cascade of orchids is perfect.
pretty pretty pretty!
Well, of course I readily concur with the aforementioned comments. Please come to England and photograph us in our rather fetching purple casssocks. That would look good on your blog.
Lovely photo. The corsage makes the outfit.
amo il suo stile è favolosa...
This outfit is absolutely lovely. One of my favorites.
oh man! i was going to go to the lawn party but it was too hot today! i wish i did go to see all the fashion!
Is this one of the Rodarte sisters?
She rocks! Or would 'She Charleston's!' be more appropriate? Either way, a charming shot and yes, Sart - all us girls want to see and doubtless envy like crazy her shoes !
What a gorgeous picture of a curvy girl. I thought the one-piece thing was going to be one of those things that only looked good on really skinny girls, but this is really nice.
I'm normally the one rolling her eyes at the whole "unhealthy-models-make-people-feel-bad-about-themselves" thing, but I have to admit it really is inspiring to see beautiful women of my size working such a great style, and looking amazing.
Work it girl.
not just onesies, but this color is getting so big right now... i can never think of the right name... peach... salmon???
kudos to breaking the norm from models, though i love them too. it's good to see outfits we can all sport no matter what size we are. it's easy to look good when you are pencil thin, but this flatters her curves.
I do love the look, but I would be entirely too scared to try it in an urban setting, given my size (about the same as this lovely lady). It's nice to see such complimentary comments about her though! You all give hope to women like me :)
She is radiant! What a beautiful picture and lady, the colors are so warm and summery.
She's obviously comfortable in her own skin...it makes me feel more brave. Thanks for taking this and sharing!
I love the way she is standing and the look on her face. Fantastic use of flowers, and I like what she's done with her hair. She looks stunning, and also just like a normal human. Lovely!
Part of what makes this jumper work so well on a more normal size figure clever design details - flat pintucks make the garment smooth over her hips and stomach then the fabric gently flows over the tops pf her thighs. A high waist elongates the figure. The colour blends with her skin tone, rather than providing a stark contrast. The other part is the oversize corsage/accessory and the nonchalance with which she sports it. Such a great outfit - inspirational, Sart.
oversize accessory and nonchalance
I don't get this whole jumpsuit / playsuit thing. I've yet to see anyone look good in one. Do like the unusual take on a corsage though.
The repose of her stance looks very classical – like Michelangelo's "David."
I love the flower (brooch) near the collar.
It gives the look a nice touch :)
Hope you're doing well Mr. Sartorialist.
These colours are so fresh! The flowers are a nice touch.
This is what I'd like summer to be.
lovely!!
Very feminine, and a perfect color to match with her skin. Simple and bona fide, with a certain lightness. Would love to see her shoes...
Magique, this early summer godess.
I´m enchanted.
corail!
I know Allison and how she wears vintage..it's wonderful in that she has her own way of combining elements that work...true old pieces like the playsuit with vintage-inspired pieces, with elements representing old craft (ie the flowers..she can tell you all about how such things are made and where the last place in NYC is..etc etc). And she has a great sense of what works on her...she's an original! Hat's off. Heidi

It seems we have the entire cast of The Great Gatsby here... this is Jordan Baker, the golf player. Except I think this woman is far more elegant than Jordan would have been.
I love this lady and I love that she's wearing a onesie! I do love the models and fashion elite that I see on your site, but it makes me happiest when you post beautiful pictures of ethereal people styled wonderfully. Great find, Sart!!
I agree with cathy. And I think these onesies make a grown person look juvenile-- unless that's the impression you're going for...

i'm so very happy with this.
becautiful color, and for once a girl who isn't simply a clotheshanger.
breathtaking.
I love that, unlike most people who when invited to a Twenties-themed party think only of a drop-waist dress, she thought of what was really worn for such occasions and found (or dug out) this. It could be new - or it could be '20s/'30s. Or '40s or 50s. If classic films are any indication, this was pretty standard recreational wear for the Greatest Generation.
I use my vintage rompers for the beach. They are the perfect thing for those of us who should probably no longer stroll the boardwalk in a bikini top and shorts. Must say though - peeing is a hassle, though, so I can't imagine them being practical in weather requiring layers to peel.
I think she looks sexy. Her face and shape are very classical, the onesie is adorable. I love this composition - luscious peach form is front and centre!
Such a sweet summer romper.
Perfect starlet cutie.
I'd argue that it's "fresh" and "cheeky," but not juvenile at all.

Oh, she's so beautiful and sexy, and works the shape and color of this garment very well.
I agree that it doesn't quite fit her. There seems to be a gap at the bottom of the buttons. While I really like the way the fabric is pulled across her hips, the garment should be let out an extra half inch or so.
love the color it fits her curves nicley....stunning
what I liked the most is her healthy and non skinny look!!
If you were to put this picture in sepia tone, I wouldn't know if this were taken yesterday, or in the Jazz Age itself.
She is absolutely beautiful.
She looks STUNNING! The lighting is so beautiful, the flowers are so beautiful, and she, of course, is so beautiful. The onesie is amazing...I love how those are coming back.
And to top it all off, her hair looks so effortlessly chic. Bravo!
NOW THIS JUMPSUIT LOOK IS HOT!!!!!!!!
I've been leery of the romper since I've seen it coming back, but she looks very nice and she does not have a super small frame. I like it.
Love the vintage feel to this photo! It's so beautiful! It's nice to see someone flatter their curves like this..
I am from Brasil and always came here to see news... but this pic... you capted me... is beautiful... her look, the colors... the flowers... and the corage to take a picture of someone that is not a "exemple" of perfect body...
Congratulations!

The color is beautiful and the flowers are excellent, but I really dislike the shape of the garment. The fit through the hips is seriously unflattering. Maybe if you lost the pleats, or if the inseam was slightly longer.
BEAUTIFUL! and finally someone with a different body shape!
she is so pretty in her outfit. i want to wear this, too.
Love the look! The flowers cascade is perfect and I love all the beautiful colors! However I have a question:
Why when the photograph is not of a model-like girl it's suddenly not about the clothes any more and all the comments start revolving on the body or body type? I think its a bit condescending...
