Blogger momo said ... (9:34 AM) :

Blogger I ♥ You said ... (9:41 AM) :

love it. i am pretty sure that lego belt is marc jacobs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 AM) :

I like this guy. Do you have any more information on him?

Blogger Thom said ... (9:49 AM) :

the lego accessories are marc by marc

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:07 AM) :

It says in the title that this guy is actually twins. I love the guy on the bottom. I literally couldn't stop staring. He's beautiful. His outfit is kick-ass.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

wow, love that ring...wonder twins power ACTIVATE! wait..are they really twins?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 AM) :

Finally black people on Sart! I have been reading this blog for ever and the other day I was thinking about how you'd never cover urban fashion, while I think definitely brings a lot of sophistication to the table, its just not your style.

Hope to see more of this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:22 AM) :

Is this one person or twins?

This is my favourite post ever!

Blogger bomb.ass.ting said ... (10:29 AM) :

I love the first look. I think without the tie it would be even more special.

Blogger rosemary x said ... (10:43 AM) :

anonymous 10:17-

are you joking?

i think you need to look through the postings again because you may be remembering incorrectly.

from what i see...there are regularly people of color as well as street/urban fashion being posted. although not necessarily hip-hop fashion - which may have been what you were getting at.

just an observation.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:45 AM) :

YES! street finally gets cred from sart...street cred. hehehe

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

nice work. go mariners!

Blogger Heather said ... (10:47 AM) :

The heart and belt buckle are so amazing!! I also love the stark white and the black 'uniforms' they are wearing!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:20 AM) :

The hilarious misconception in fashion is that it flows top down. It obviously does not. Designers will be aping these kids, not vice versa. Great style!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:52 AM) :

That they should be so proud to be a twin, Sart which of the two did you photograph first? Both are gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

yes, i also enjoy seeing black people (and other races) on this blog, nice finds, sart.

i find it interestingly annoying reading the comments about them though. many have something to say about the skin "hues" and how exotic things look on them (see next post of black woman, and one a week or so ago of an asian girl).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 PM) :

These two gentlemen are actually twin brothers and certified "darlings" of the downtown NYC scene. "The Twins", as they are often referred to, are also relatively young (around 20 or 21).

They caught the attention of several media outlets in the past when they used retro video game controllers (i.e. the original NES controller) and retro handheld video games (i.e Tiger Electronics, etc.) and crafted their own belt buckles out of them. If the pieces in these shots are indeed Marc Jacobs, they have inspired high fashion with their look.

In an era where most young men all dress and act alike (most especially in the NYC street/urban fashion market), it is tremendously inspiring to see two young African-American men go against the norm and follow their naturally heightened sense of fashion instincts.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:57 PM) :

I am getting my glue gun and my kids' Legos out as we speak!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:37 PM) :

Beautiful beautiful boys! Originators. Their looks will be coined in couture and "they" wont get credit. Im proactive in that change.

Blogger Camille Acey said ... (1:49 PM) :

these twins are epic LES cool kids (see a-ron and that click), OF COURSE they have fab style. they are STYLEMAKERS. but one more picture of them never hurt....

@anonymous 10:17 - there are black people ALL THE TIME on sartorialist. where've you been?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

love it! great to see the simplicity mixed with expressiveness in both outfits. you have the eye for detail that most of us would have just walked by..
safe, respect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:59 PM) :

Those twins are the guys who came up with the whole lego accessory thing a while back. They hand made every piece. I believe after jacobs saw them, he collaborated with the Twins & incorporated it in his show/line.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:03 PM) :

Here is the story about the twins.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

these dudes have been apart of the LES fashion scene since they were little tikes.i remember seeing them being chaparoned around TBC buying, when they were like 11.only in New York as they say.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:20 PM) :

I met these guys at an opening ceremony party the other week. Their names are Dee and Ricky... they said they designed those pieces for MJ. I think they have a web site... Very cool guys!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

http://beautyandjanine.blogspot.com/

fabulous stuff

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:03 PM) :

i know those guys!

That's Dee and Ricky from www.deeandricky.com, they design those belts and Marc Jacobs used them for his show. They hang out with a lot of downtown NYC clothing brands like Off Bowery, VANE and LOLA.

cool guys

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 PM) :

They are actually twins and they are the ones who created the Lego accessories for Marc Jacob's show. Their names are Ricky and Dee Jackson, aka "The Twins." Apparently one of them is even dating Genevieve Jones...

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:15 PM) :

actually the lego belt and heart aren't marc jacobs. marc just used them as accessories in his spring 08 collection.

the accessories are by Ricky & Dee Jackson. they work(ed) at BBC (billionaire boys club) which is probably why theres someone in the background of the second photo wearing a bbc hoodie and bbc shorts.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:17 PM) :

heres an article about ricky & dee

Blogger ZEROSCAPE said ... (4:29 PM) :

they are total babes, i wouldn't mind playing a game of switcheroo!

Blogger Seanrwatson2 said ... (4:34 PM) :

Only the hat and ice makes the first one definitely hip hop. I think the idea was blue hat, blue undershirt, blue on the belt. The belt is fine, I'd switch the shirt to black, and lose the hat. This guys doing his thing though, and he pulls it off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:04 PM) :

These Guys are great. Nice vibe. the clothes, eh whatever. Doesn't matter when you start out cool regardless. Props out to these guys.

Blogger DDW said ... (5:12 PM) :

great stuff! not to mention lovely smile in the first picture...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 PM) :

MY FAVORITE POST EVER!!! Not even for the fashion (but it is still great in these pics) but for the personality. Fabulous

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:56 PM) :

They're Ricky & Dee Jackson, they designed all of the 'Lego' accessories for Marc Jacobs. Very talented twins! One of them is dating Genevieve Jones, I'm pretty sure it's Ricky. I heard they are going to be doing a lot more work with Marc!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:57 PM) :

His "That Girl!" hair-do in the first pic is a bit much.

Blogger LochNess said ... (6:03 PM) :

Haha, it is defiantly two separate people.

The twins have made a name for themselves as far as downtown is concerned for their custom belts amongst other things like being featured in a couple of brand Look Books.

They have been making custom belts for a while I would put money on it that those are both custom pieces.

Glad to see some familiar faces on the blog.

Well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 PM) :

looooove their oufits! i believe the belt and pin are from marc jacobs

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:03 PM) :

tres cool. love the guy in white. so refreshingly original.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:26 PM) :

Oh, man. I've been reading these comments. How smart are these kids?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:29 PM) :

A M A Z I N G

Seriously, fab.

Blogger gloriousday said ... (7:40 PM) :

un-f***ing-believable.

this is one of my favorite posts ever.

Blogger Roxana Farahmand said ... (8:04 PM) :

That second outfit is ace! Very nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 PM) :

This two are Ricky and Dee and they are actual twins! They designed those lego accessories and sold them to Marc. Downtown fixtures with great style!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 PM) :

I dig "The Last Dragon" suit....glad to see someone has the guts to wear one these days. The kung fu look actually has some easy to wear elements that add that extra spark to an outfit. I had one when I was a kid and just recently got a few new pairs of Chinese Mary Janes again as an alternative to ballet flats.

Blogger CA$HRIC said ... (12:22 AM) :

Kudos to the Sartorialist for finally capturing one of the many DYANMIC DOWNTOWN STYLE DUOS!! Ricky and Dee always look amazing out on the scene. I love the nod to Taimak from the Last Dragon!! I'm so glad NYC Black guys are finally taking risks with their personal style and not afraid to give full productions!! WORK!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 AM) :

LOOOVE the lego accessories. <3

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:08 AM) :

Ok, I'll play the bad guy here. The guy in the white is great, especially having the balls to basically coordinate his look around a Mariners hat.

But the guy in the Chinese shirt? Really? Different but still disappointing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 AM) :

I thought New Yorkers were never star struck. Here we have two cutting edge sartorial performances and all most can find the time to comment on is the fame and celebrity of the guys.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:42 AM) :

Leroy from Fame!

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:39 AM) :

i love the lego accessories. but i definitely like the chinese top more than the other. these boys are so cute.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:48 AM) :

Maybe I'm the only one here but I've searched through their shop and I do not like their creations at all, besides the multi-color belt-buckle, that one looks nice. As I also do like the first picture, looks so clean and urban, I'm not sure about the cap though, but still: nice!
The second one is pretty simple. Anyone could buy an asian outfit at a local store, looks good but it's nothing special to me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 AM) :

These are their own belts / broches. They made them for Marc Jacobs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 AM) :

These are their on belts. They were commissioned for Marc Jacobs from the Twins.

Blogger Kanani said ... (11:39 AM) :

Whimsical (in a good way).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:27 PM) :

hmm I didn't know that guy was taking a picture for this site...cool! dope pic. dope comments too!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:48 AM) :

Holy crap. Is that guy wearing a traditional chinese garb?

TOO COOL.

Love his bling on his fist by the way.

Blogger wilsonreps said ... (9:34 AM) :

these dudes are straight fresh i'd like to see a style profile on them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 AM) :

in the first pic...i wish you couldnt see the superman logo under his polo. kills the look a tiny bit

Blogger Yi said ... (6:20 PM) :

I WANT HIS MARC JACOBS BELT!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

Love the rubix belt! And the white pants..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:41 AM) :

Ricky and Dee commented on themselves (see few comments above)! If I was a hater I'd say soemthing about the narcissism there, but somehow these kids look cool, in a "doing your own thing" kinda way, which I respect.

Energie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

Word!

Blogger Kelly Cree said ... (8:50 PM) :

what shoes was the one on the top wearing?

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:14 PM) :

This is the best post ever x

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

This bloke's jacket is fantastic. Love that he has the confidence to do an all-white ensemble.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 AM) :

Blogger Maya said ... (7:07 PM) :

Blogger adelelovesny said ... (11:22 PM) :

I saw these guys in SoHo a couple of weeks ago, and they looked just as stylish.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 PM) :

Yes they are twins. i know a french photographer who is in BK right now who knows them. Anyway they are two designers: Dee and Ricky. They design Lego jewels for Marc Jacobs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:44 PM) :

They're twins(Demetrius and Ricardo Jackson) and i should know - i went to school with them! They're the ones who created the lego belt for marc jacobs! i can't believe they became so famous. how cool! :D
